I loved this franchise as a kid. All of it.
People loved the commercials because in the 80s, they were genuinely clever and darkly hilarious.

The first time I ever heard of Prince of Persia was actually that live action movie they made of it.

I love how much emphasis you place on Geoff and Tim Follin. Actual legends in music composition. Not a single dud in their entire history.
Also I did watch Prince of Persia movie! It was definitely one of the movies ever.

It’s funny you compare On the Ball to the Sonic special stages, the older arcade version is what inspired those. That’s why the blocks that say “GOAL” make you fail in Sonic… they wanted to troll first time players who had played On the Ball before 😂

The animated movie for the crash dummies was amazing to me back when I was like 5 back when it came out. Never had the games for it though

I had the Game Gear version of The Terminator. It was terrible. The first level had you blast the Terminator until you knocked him back far enough you could safely advance. With a ton of grenades. When you got a machine gun, same thing, shoot the Terminator for 10 seconds, step forward, repeat. They found a way to make shooting a robot with a machine gun not fun.

Yes I loved the crash test dummies toys. My brother and I had fun smashing them together and watching them fall apart. Do you remember the short lived cgi cartoon that came out???

The review show 'Bad Influence' was the shit back in the day. FUN FACT - One of the hosts, Violet Berlin had her likeness & name used for a character in Micro Machines :)

The Crash Dummy toys were great. They were action figures that you didn't need to be careful about not breaking, because breaking them was the whole point.

Prince of Persia 2 on PC has a hilarious opening. The prince jumps out a window and if you don't react to the guard outside you die in one second. My brother and I laughed and laughed at this absurdly difficult start to the game.

You could argue that Karateka, awful though it was, first laid the groundwork for cinematic platformers. In that game, the camera would cut between you and your opponents running towards each other.

Once there was this game whose
characters were based on this weird '80s PSA
But when they finally played it
    They found
    An okay game by LJN
    They couldn't quite explain it
    Sometimes they just got lucky...

Imperium is one of those games I will happily slap down $110 for sight unseen. Played it on an emulator once and now it lives rent free in my head for so long. Offers a whole lot more than your standard shmup

Well it's no wonder why Jared likes the crash dummies GB game because it actually got good reviews back in the day. Also back then, Prince of Persia got ported everywhere but the actual port of PoP 2 only got a SNES port, which was kinda shite. Finally On The Ball is also alvaible on the Taito Legends compilation and got ported to the DS as Labyrinth.
Also Jordan Mechner loved the Sands of Time movie adaptation.

I do remember playing all 3 versions of the Crash Dummies games. Surprised there was no mention of the SNES or NES versions (or the Genesis one). I know the Game Boy one was pretty solid, just really difficult, especially when you're too young to care about the manual and don't understand what the objective is. The NES one was also incredibly difficult thanks to LJN's signature style of publishing really rough games. And the SNES/Genesis one was pretty cool being a more standard action platformer, but suffers the same problem of being punishingly difficult. I never could get far on either of the console versions, but the Game Boy one was fun to try every so often

I actually did watch the Prince of Persia movie in theaters. It wasn't bad! It's one of those video game movies that's clearly not a 1:1 recreation of the original story, but is pretty enjoyable on its own merits.

Late again, but I'll chime in. Had a few characters like Spare Tire and Slick, and while I didn't have the car, I had this weird torture chamber where you strapped them to a chair and pulled them apart... not really sure what it had to do with car safety, but hey 🤷

I did actually watch the Prince of Persia movie. Granted, I didn't pay as much attention to it as I probably should have, but overall, I do remember enjoying it.

Once again to answer your question, yes I saw the feature film of Prince of Persia. And I enjoyed it. And I can see why people didn't enjoy it. Personally, I like it better than the assassin's Creed movie.
On a similar note, without Prince of Persia as a game series, we wouldn't have assassin's Creed. And honestly I prefer PoP to AC, but that's just me. Both game series are stellar and glorious
