    Handy having similar vehicle available... definitely weird wording. I thought you were gonna stick the pen in your ear and pull it out the other side! LOL

    While watching the video, i was telling myself look at recalls, they have a recall for this. Sucks this vehicle didn’t qualify for the recall, but at least customer gets his hopes up for a moment lol. Good video and alway handy when you have a second car to swap parts.

      I'm not a mini expert but I play one on TV (youtube) Since I am the Vw guy in our town, folks think I'm the german car specialist. I have a few more mini videos in the "needs to be edited" queue.

    I have a 2006 Mini cooper S with the same problem, but when I looked up recalls using the VIN it said there were no recalls on my vehicle

      unfortunatly it gets expensive!

  • @kcl5160
    @kcl5160 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    for $40 on ebay you can buy a bypass for these sensors. Very easy to install and its must cheaper. It just tricks the computer into thinking an adult is always sitting in the front seat. The airbag will still work in a accident

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If someone, like a shop or car lot bypasses the sensor, and then someone puts a car seat in there and the airbag deploys and kills a child then lawsuits await for those who put in the bypass. It would be better for a shop like mine or a car lot like the one that owned this car to NOT repair it than to install a bypass. That would certainly be an option for a individual but then when he sold the car he would be open for a lawsuit.

      @@CoolAirVw thats a good point. I didn't think about that

      Individual - not a shop
      What bypass ? I didn't put a bypass in, I only drove on bypasses with the car.
      If you think I put some pass-by in the car, that caused u a problem? Prove it.
      (Also with Bypass in, you can still TURN OFF PASSENGER AIRBAG! So if someone is stupid enough to put a child on a front seat facing a airbag , without turning it off, relying only on Mexico parts and computer technology to save their child's life... isn't this Darwinism?)

    • @CoolAirVw
      @CoolAirVw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@oceanside2152 I have no idea what your saying. As a shop, we cant bypass. You do what you want. I feel no need to argue the benefits or drawbacks.

    • @oceanside2152
      @oceanside2152 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CoolAirVw yeah I was saying individuals should go ahead and do the emulator, But the shop should not due to commercial liability issues.
      The reason why I say an Individual should go ahead and do it is because they're at a natural disadvantage because of planned obsolescence built into the car they own, built with really crappy parts.
      They bought in good faith thinking if there were such a chronic problem like this, affecting airbags, surely there would be a Recall. But they get screwed by the manufacturer and the US DOT.
      Add in the fact that you can turn the airbag off and only logical answer the consumer comes up with, is bypass/ emulate.

    Why are there recalls on older 2000 models and not 2013. Same thing happening in mine

    Very concise and thorough job mate. Nice work.
    I’m looking at buying a 2004 cooper s here in Australia that has the airbag light on so was interested to see what kind of issues to look for.
    Hey that technical software database you were using showing wiring diagrams etc looks great. That’s obviously some expensive package your workshop has purchased ?
    I am an automotive mechanic myself but have retired from the trade these days.
    Thanks again. 🙏

    Thanks for this great video, it helped me to understand my Mini better. I have a question and I hope you can remember, given that this video is a bit older. When the airbag light came on, did the Passenger Airbag Warning light in the roof near the mirror also light up? My Cooper S from 2006 is giving me some headache these days.
    Edit: I checked my VIN and apparently my car is eligible for the recall. The fix wasn‘t done on mine as the BMW opened the recall in 2015 but my Mini got exported to Korea in 2013. I will try to contact BMW here in Korea.

      I just wanted to let you know that my Airbag light got fixed a few weeks ago by changing the seat mat in the passenger seat. Thanks so much again for your video and guiding me to the right solution. And because of the recall I didn‘t even have to pay anything! Thanks!

    Thanks for the video, you have laik from me. I have the same problem too. I have a question for you: if you can tell me, I can’t find the passenger seat sensor connector, I’m just new to this business, do you know where you can find the connection diagrams of these connectors on the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, there are 4 of them in my car pieces, two black and two yellow, which one is the one you need to work on ???

      I dont know. It was left in a customers car and is now gone. Its a good tool for a DIYer but cant do Vanos relearn. It acts like it does but it lies about it and doesn't do it.
