Oh great. I just ordered one for my 2011 R60. I guess I’ll try it but I don’t have a warm fuzzy feeling about it anymore.

It COULD work if you "assign" it to the car but you can't do it with regular OBD, you need the BMW scanner the dealer has to program it. I gave up and paid dealer to install the real thing 😮‍💨

You also need to bypass the seatbelt switch or you'd have to listen to the seatbelt chime forever. It would have been interesting to see the results if you had buckled the seatbelt but you likely just bought the wrong bypass. Why were you trying to bypass a working pressure mat anyway?

I wasnt. I was trying to bypass a bad one in my other mini and it wasnt working. Seller was trying to say there was something else wrong so I put it in the good car to test. In the end I discovered that new OC3 units (and probably emulators) on the 2012 have to be "ASSIGNED" to the car. You can't just clear the code. They have to be programed with the $400 tool only the dealer has. Ended up just surrendering and having dealer fix it. Didn't make sense to buy a $500 sensor, $400 computer and then STILL have to install it.
