    I just used your instructions to clean my Hydra hubs! Thanks so much for this great explanation. I had both the grease and the oil. Mine are extremely quiet now. Fantastic!

      @billrose2339 - Right on, glad to hear it! I have to be honest, I have grown to really appreciate the quiet version of the hubs. Great thing with the Hydras is that you can make them noisy again so easily!

    I just did this today. Mine looked same as yours. You can also easily remove disassemble the prawns and springs and clean everything.

      @keithchugg5604 - Hey, thanks for watching! I was surprised just how easy the whole process was. It makes maintenance a breeze. It's a very well designed hub.

    the bearings most likely didn't die from you using the hose on them to clean them. I work in a bike shop with lots of high end bikes with all kinds of hubs and I have experienced first hand these hubs and I found that you go through a lot of bearings with these hubs as a result of them having small bearings (the balls inside). I would still clean them with a hose as they were designed to go through all conditions and the bearings too!!! they are sealed bearings and they do wear out, and for the most part they are the same as others on your bike e.g. frame bearings headset bearings brake lever bearings. and I expect I9 would've designed them to at least have a garden hose sprinkle water over them, yes maybe not a pressure washer

      Yeah agreed, the freehub grease wasn’t washed out so likely not washing out sealed grease. Combo between smaller bbs and likely some higher loading conditions were the assumption from my mechanical engineering friends.
      Sucks that such a good freehub has issues with bearing life

    3:54 you mean the 115 tooth drive-ring, or the 690 points of engagement? its not that I have one am just fun of it... correct me if am wrong.
    Many mtb riders at my place bring their nice bike's with this problem, its like no one likes their bike dirty especially when new

    awesome tutorial. thanks. anyone know if you can buy a smaller volume of the grease and oil? For the amount you pay it seems excessive to have so much considering the low frequency in which you need to perform maintenance on these.

    I have the same problem, I have blown out the bearings on my i9 hydra. Were you able to change the bearings with the service kit from industry nine by yourself, you didn't show that in the video?

    • @elroobike
      @elroobike  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had my local shop swap out the bearings. i9 has a vid on their site showing the whole process. Looks doable.

      @@elroobike trying to attach a picture of my new ones but won’t work on here for some reason. Really liking the new wheels but not sure I’m gonna like the 2.6” tires. Definitely a fan of shortening the cranks to 165mm. Actually I should’ve gone a little shorter

      @elroobike  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @troyesch6203 - I would love to see a pic of your new wheels. Do you notice a difference with the 27.5"? I bet they're sweet!! I have thought about the 165s a bit, when I'm ready to switch to a crank based power meter that may be the time to try them. You should be able to tag me in a photo on strava, here's a link to my page or email me. www.strava.com/athletes/4555019

      @@elroobike oh ya. It’s different for sure. For me the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Ya get much better maneuverability with only a very slight disadvantage in rollover performance. But my trails are more suited for smaller wheels. Your trails are probably better suited for the 29’s. I’m not down with Strava at this point. Do I need to get on board?

    • @elroobike
      @elroobike  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @troyesch6203 - Did you have to change the bearings in the headset for the new wheel size? I remember reading something about that. Do you notice an increase in ride harshness? Strava can be cool way to track your rides and share them with others. I enjoy it.

    • @elroobike
      @elroobike  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JubeProductions - The best info I could find from Industry Nine was that it should be a part of "regular" maintenance. If you already have the grease and oil it's easy enough you could do this once a month and it wouldn't be a bother at all.

    • @JubeProductions
      @JubeProductions 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@elroobike thanks for that info. This is invaluable. I just ordered an I9 Enduro wheelset and I'm still waiting for them.
      I'm putting them on my Turbo Levo E-MTB. I'm careful not to blast water on the frame and motor, but wouldn't even think I would have to use caution with the hubs. I'm glad I saw this before I started riding them.

    i have an idea. what d u think about "dose really road bike faster then normal bike " or "dose really expensive bike faster then normal bike" . u will put the same Watt pressure on both and same ground and same air resistance. to make a fair challenge || any way if the expensive road bike win. and in the end say "Is it really worth it for the amount?"
