A wonderfully complete, comprehensive, balanced, objective and completely authentic documentary with not an extra word of commentary or fluff. I was delighted and amazed to see it! Lots of background info and bits and snippets I had not seen or heard before. Spectacular job Steeve! For those of us who grew up with April Wine, followed them and were fortunate enough to befriend them over the years, this documentary brings us closer to the band and their music. I think the band past and present will be keen to see this! 😁♥

My only comment is this - Old rockers (age 45 or older...like myself of which I am 59) - TAKE your kids to see AS many old rock bands as possible....the really GREAT bands are slowly.....well,.......JUST TAKE YOUR DAMN KIDS TO AS MANY DAMN SHOWS AS POSSIBLE. You get my point.

Been saying the same for years. Thank god that a lot of these older bands are continuing on without most or even all of the members, i.e. Foreigner. At least the live aspect will carry on even if though it could be considered a “tribute” act. A drummer friend of mine took Jerry Shirley’s spot in Humble Pie for a couple tours in the mid 90’s and I was kind of put off that there were no remaining original or even semi-original members. I’ve since changed my stance. Keep the Rock Rolling no matter who’s playing it!

Yes I'm 45 myself and used to frequent concerts several artists I've seen have already died Scott Weiland and Tom Petty, David Bowie, Levin Helm, Gord Downy tickets are pretty expensive now though I saw Bob Dylan for sixty dollars 16 years ago and Roger Waters for 100 dollars in 2012 ish too probably cost three times that now live music is a luxury now as is having children I suppose.

Awesome! I saw April Wine in 1979 in Saint Louis, MO when I was 17...they opened for Styx, as I recall. I was blown away by their three guitar attack, and they rocked hard! I remember being super impressed by the drummer that looked like a magical Genie behind the kit...great drum solo!

Having traveled the USA in all 50 states, St Louis was definitely one of their most popular markets. When touring in the 2000s and 2010s, they would do a bunch of dates in CA but would always seem to pop in to St Louis or Detroit before resuming back to touring CA.

What can a fan say after watching this tremendous documentary. In 1972, my 12 year old ears heard sounds that I had never heard before. It was a band called April Wine. With the release of Electric Jewels, I was listening intently. By the time Stand Back came out in '75, although I didn't realize it then, I was hooked for life. I've seen Myles Goodwyn with and without April Wine dozens of times. 21 concerts in 2006 alone. There's not a week goes by that I don't spend time listening to this mans music. I pick apart each instrument, vocals and writing. Call me a groupie, a fanatic, whatever you will, I call myself a true fan. As of today, 3rd of January 2024; Jimmy Clench, Steve Lang and now, 1948-2023, Mr Myles Goodwyn, Rest in Peace. Great loss for his family, friends and fans.

I learned more about the history of April Wine from this doc than in the past 53 years, since the first time they played my east Scarborough high school (West Hill CI) in 1971. I went out and bought Fast Train the next day and bought everything they've put out since then. They played my high school again the next year. They were the first professional rock band I ever saw live up close. Electric Jewels is my all-time favourite album by them, it was the soundtrack of my teen years. And I loved that first raw live album. Wore out multiple copies of both.

What a great bunch of players in this band throughout the years! Honestly, so under appreciated it’s just crazy. I seen them 13 times over the years. Never was I disappointed once!! I still have a Jerry Mercer drumstick I caught at a show years ago. Every player brought something special to the band. I could go through each player that has been in the band and tell you what they brought to this massive part of Canadian music history. A big thank you to each and every member past and present for the great music and awesome memories!!

On Myles’s 50th birthday, in Salt Lake City, I caught his harmonica when he threw it from the stage. It has been heavily used and I wish knew its history. My most prized piece of memorabilia. (Edit: Could I be mistaken in that it’s Brian Greenway’s?)
Been a huge April Wine fan since well before they released anything in the US. My second concert ever was April Wine with Foreigner, 1979 I think. Still have the ticket stub.
Played so many of their songs in cover bands since 1982.

What a great and complete documentary to Myles Goodwyn and his many bandmates. A great Canadian songwriter, musician and entertainer, who was proud of where he came from and never forgot his roots. A big thanks to everyone who worked on this production, for a job well done. I was fortunate to see April Wine many times over the years, and enjoyed every show I attended; was also fortunate to see Myles in one of Bruce Guthro's, Song Writers Circle. What an evenings entertainment. RIP to April Wine members who we've lost over the years, Bruce Guthro and especially Myles Goodwyn...... a lifetime of musical memories.

I heard about this documentary last night on the CTV news, what an amazing job you did Steeve. You had bits of video that I had never seen before. I've lost track of how many times I've seen them starting with a show in Truro at the Colchester Legion Stadium and when I was living in Halifax from 1988-2016 I never missed a concert 2 trips to New Brunswick. And I was lucky enough to have front row seats to his last show with the band in Truro last March, and a couple of his solo shows. I've got every album, cd they put out plus his first solo album and his 2 blues & the "Long Pants" cd. Not on here, but I have seen on other sites when fans won't support April Wine without Myles, yes I know that Myles is April Wine but Myles would want us to at least give the new version a listen and I will when they come this way, I've seen video's and they sound great. I've also read his book twice. So thank you Steeve for doing this for all us die hard fans and RIP Myles.
On a side note I have met you when you were with Razorboy and Drama and Ettinger, the piece you put together on Peter was great.

Finally got to watch this entire tribute and it is so good and touching. I remember being in Amherst Stadium 1978 to see April Wine on that First Glance Tour and the two more times at the sold out Moncton Colsieum for Nature of the Beast Tour then a year later for Power Play. All three shows were excellent. I was so glad to see Jerry Mercer on stage again with Myles at the WALK OF FAME show. Jerry is simply one the best drummers ever! RIP Myles Steve and Jim . The producer of this tribute did a great job. Bravo. He provided me memories of AW and their great live energy.

Such an Honour to have met and worked with Myles and the gang on/during The Whole World's Going Crazy (still is...lol) Eastern leg of that `77 tour.
Brings profound tears of sadness, and happiness to have witnessed, and been part of (in some way shape or form) the foundation of Canadian Music Culture,
thanks to Myles and many others during the 'dayz'.
    He and I once sat together one afternoon in a bar in Halifax talking shop (I was 17 on the road crew) he bought me a beer and ordered a drink that they didn't know how to make ;
so he got up and taught the Bar Tender and came back to our table chuckling that they'd name the drink after him...
Anyway, later on at the Forum that night, I was made to do the opening Concert announcement in front of a Sold Out 10,000+ Bic lighter crowd, and almost soiled myself... everyone laughed.
April Wine are forever tattooed on my heart, as I've struggled with my own offerings to the muse - Thank You Myles ; Rock `n Roll is indeed a vicious game !
R.I.P. Dear friend and colleague (tears)

I have known the band since they started playing in MTL nad didi many times opened up for them in 72 and 73. Brian is an old friend from my Edgwater days. This is truly great doc and has covered the bands history. I was but a roadie in those days but look back fondly on all the bands that became April Wine I even mixed a few of them. Great job on this video from my dear friend Steeve Hennessey

Yes they did, as far as I was concerned!!! One of my most favorite bands! A friend of mine turned me and others to them and we were hard core fans from Salem, Virginia!!!! They sounded so fresh and different from the rest of the bands that were out at the time. 1979-80’s. I Like to Rock!!!!!!
Sirius XM was how I found out about his passing about a month ago as I was driving and then they played I Like To Rock and Gypsy Queen. I sat in a parking lot and listened to the 2 songs, and reminisced about my teenage days listening to this wonderful band!!!!! Definitely April Wine was a part of my life while I made memories with my friends!!!!

Absolutely amazing tribute to the band and Myles. I’m sure Steeve that they were a heavy influence on you when you were young growing up in Northern NB. I know that every summer when they came to Charlottetown, it was a must see concert. Jerry Mercer was a God to me as a young aspiring drummer and his solo was mesmerizing. I’m sure that you and I would never have attempted to be full time musicians in the Maritimes if it weren’t for April Wine, Oakley, Molly Oliver, Minglewood, Sam Moon and the local artists from the seventies. Hats off to you and your hard work to make this production a great tribute to such a fabulous band!

I would like to tell you that my drumming was as great as Jerry Mercer as well, but we both know that wasn’t the case (lol) … I do know that a lot of Maritime/Atlantic drummers played Milestone drums due to Jerry (and Gary McCraken from Max Webster), myself included. Happy New Year to you as well and look forward to any new video adventures that you might have forthcoming?

What a great documentary, very well done Steeve! Also, thank you for including "both" of me during the audition section around 3:25, a nice surprise. I had the honor of meeting Myles during the audition process and speaking with him briefly backstage at a festival (our friends booked the show) about what/who he was looking for exactly, and hand him my audition on DVD. He was gracious enough to take it, and I thought "well, maybe he'll just toss it in the trash in his green room." To my surprise he contacted me the next day! He liked the work and was interested until I told him I was from Spokane. Deep down I knew he'd want a Canadian guy but man, I sure would've liked to go jam with him and the band for an hour or afternoon! Met and talked with Roy Nichols that day also, super nice guy, and April Wine was phenomenal that night! Cheers and well done sir! Fantastic tribute!
