I agree with your scientific evaluation of this BPS knife from the folks in Ukraine. I bought one some time ago and used it as a camp/bushcraft knife and have yet to be disappointed. I liked it so well, in fact, that I got one for my high school aged daughter to learn bushcraft and camping skills from her OLD daddy. She loves hers too.

I actually find your tests and reviews to be the most relevant and useful for my purposes for a knife. I tend to lean toward the idea of fixed blades that have the (last ditch) potential of tactical applications and are a useful tool for woodsy pursuits.

Fine knife for anyone looking for a inexpensive way to get into Bushcrafting. 1066 is very tough and although the edge retention isn't amazing it's easy to sharpen and keep sharp. The fact that it's full tang and comes with a good leather sheath along with a firesteel makes it a pretty good value. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

I’ve used a BPS Adventure for a few years. Use it for all my camp chores. Has held up incredibly well. Always cuts. A good carver. Will process wood. Grip is good with no slips. Sheath does the job. Fire steel is small, but it works well on the knife’s sharp spine. It’s imported from Ukraine. Price is right. High-value knife. Thanks for your honest review. @@richroc7 it has always had a good edge on it. I try to touch it up with a leather strop or maybe a ceramic rod after use. If necessary I use a diamond sharpener on it. Never had to re-profile the blade or anything that serious. It cuts when I need it to.

@@richroc7 I've had this knife for 2 years and after 2 deer hunts and a recent elk hunt , still happy with it . Soft carbon steel, easy to dull, easy to sharpen, easy to rust (shame due to beautiful mirror polish from factory), amazing leather sheaths. Came razor sharp. Hand wood is a bit soft but nice. The Adventurer was used on 1 deer hunt and 2 elk hunts. This skeptic has a fondness for 1095 HC, but the 1066 Adventurer exceeded expectations. After the sharp spine was removed, this knife was an excellent butcher knife and fair skinning knife for large and small game.
Very good for processing fire fuel, cutting heavy rope and general camp knife. Another knife which now ranks high and Super affordable, is the Ukrainian produced Beaver Craft knives. Thanks for your video and all the best.

I own this knife and the smaller Bushcraft knife (full tang). This is a tuff camp knife. It is my primary belt knife when hiking or camping. Make sure to keep them oiled though they rust very easy! They do make them with a hidden tang, but those have been shown to bust through the wooden handle or snap.

own a few bps knifes, they have totally replaced my esee collection, blades are perfect for what i do, not to thin and not to thick ( like esee knifes ) easy to sharpen, easy to maintain in the field. from whittling to skinning out more then a few moose and deer, this knife has done it all, other then battoning, i dont use my knifes for that, have a small axe or tomahawk for that. and if i dont i can collect small wood and burn that. although im sure it would do fine, just dont see the point of risking my knife. am waiting on the bps friction folder now. cant wait

I paused your video 6 minutes in and went and ordered one. Earlier today I was looking at them on Amazon and I had seen them in the past and they looked like good knives for a decent price but when you said they were made in Ukraine that made up my mind because I had just assumed they were made in China. Besides being a decent knife it's my little contribution to help them through the hell that's going on over there.
It's a good test to see how strong a knife is by batoning through wood.

Can I ask you what exactly you knkw about the war over there? It's a very sad tale, one that has been going on fir a very longtime and is just reached a huge head. Do you knkw Ukraine used to bomb civilians on the boarder of Ukraine, its own land and people, because they said they were Russian? Did you know that putin asked for an intervention to stop Ukraine from bombing those people and for foreign invention to keep the peace at their boarder? Did you know Ukraine signed a treaty with Russia and took aid from Russia in agreement for trade and to keep military off both sides of the boarder? Did you know Ukraine never traded but took trade, and then put foreign hostile troops and military OK Russian boarder, including but not limited to labs that create viruses and other dangerous materials from America where they tested viruses that could kill everyone I'm the world? Did you know that mamy Ukraine military leaders displayed and had tattoos of nazi and ss loyalty, do you knkw what nazis did to the Russians and who Ukraine sided with during ww2? I support the people of Ukraine, I feel for the boys fighting on both sides of this, the civilians suffering from this gross display of lies and twisted leadership on both sides. May God protect them all and end this before more innocently souls are killed or suffer. Just before you support someone at keast know the good and bad of what your supporting. Putin is a nut job murderer, and the leader of Ukraine has made all other post parties illegal, all news sources besides state sponsored illegal , and made it so no that he will lead Ukraine until he dies, he sure sounds just like putin doesn't be!

I haven't been watching your videos as much lately and I kinda feel guilty about it, like I haven't been supporting your channel, so I'm glad I caught this one. All that ivy, leaf litter and pine needles holds the heat and moisture in the ground, perfect breeding ground for late season skeeters. Lived with that crap for 50+ years before I was able to flee to the southwest were it's mostly dry. Believe it or not we have mosquitoes out here in the desert too, for 2 or 3 months during the summer rainy season. So glad to be away from the humidity and 10 month long (sometimes longer) mosquito season.

@@Yann396 no, it is absolutely not! And do you know why? Let me tell you - because it is not actually 1066 hc steel, it is 65Г (65G) soviet era spring steel, which close to 1066 but not the same. The 65G is outperforms the 1095 steel in any aspect except of initial hardnes. 65G has better tensile strength, toughness, it won't brake, better edge retention also if properly treated.
65G is better choice for outdoor/bushcraft/camping knives for sure.

That is an excellent knife. A lot of bushcraft type knives have a 'grippy" synthetic handle but i don't think ther is anything wrong with a wooden handle, if it is well shaped. The cerium rod is a great idea, and 5 or 6 " of blade (13-15 cm) is probably just the right size for its purpose. i suppose you'd need a hatchet or maybe a folding pruning saw for cutting firewood, or at least a kukri or bolo, but as a knife this one would be hard to beat.

As for batoning, look at a Japanese Samurai sword with the handle removed. The tang is only about 4 inches, or less than 1/2 the handle length. These swords are hitting armor, other swords, human bones, and yet 700 years later they are still in one piece. I see no reason not to baton with a knife, even if it is not a full tang knife. This knife looks like a bargain, especially with that sheath. Thanks for showing it Brian.

I’d believe it. I bought a BPS bs3 nearly 3 years ago. £30 ($36) delivered. Admittedly didn’t have a sheath of any kind. The bs3 is pretty much a full tang carbon copy (pun intended) of the Mora companion, with wooden scales.
Nice practical review, and nothing wrong with some sensible battoning, with a fixed blade. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

the Fixed Blade Knife is made of high 1066 carbon steel. Hardened to 56-57 HRC & not the 440 steel or the other steels a lot of other knives out there

I like your videos. I appreciate your opinions and methods.I really love the Georgia, kicked back attitude. Still, the rude guy was partly right about batoning with a very broad range of knives.
Years ago, a knife maker made a great blade for me. It was high carbon, hard steel, and extremely well made...For certain things. Hard does not always mean durable. It messed it up a bit. That same blade has lasted through a great deal of other abuses...Just not that particular abuse.
That said, it was (as you pointed out) my knife to damage.
Hope your blades all live well, and work harder than you ever have to.

On the smaller ferro rods I like to strike them with the knife edge down on the stump, then put your pointer finger as far down the rod as you can then drag it across the spine. All of your sparks fall directly onto your tinder and almost none is wasted, that shiny spot on the bevel may have came from a buffing wheel or leather when finishing the edge 🤷 i havent heard anything bad about these knives 👍 thanks for showing

I have several BPS knives. Absolutely love them. You won't be disappointed if you buy one. Just keep it oiled to prevent rust. They are high carbon steel. (1066)

I’ve had a smaller version for three years now and it’s well worth the money. Found mine on sale $23 to my door. Use mine for cleaning and processing deer and wild pigs. Holds an edge very very well. Wipe the fat off and a couple strokes on a fine stone or ceramic and it’s good to go. Keep from cutting nasty dirty hair and keep the edge off bone and you can clean and prep a couple animals easy.
