- Today, we will be discussing which of the three Starter Temtem is the best choice. In doing such, we'll discuss which Temtem is the strongest, which has the best utility and how they'll fair against the various islands, boss battles and dojos in the game.

When I started it was early Alpha and there were no guides, I figured "everyone would choose the mental" and therefore I would choose it's counter, the turtle. I was right in that everyone did choose Houchic, I was wrong thinking that would make my selection good however, I dumped my starter on the second island.
I don't really care which one is best, I'm just choosing Crystle because its the only one I like the design of. Still watched the whole video though

I chose manky because of looks but after seeing final evolution i think Mental looks best, imo of course
Crystle is my fav design wise 😕 I hope they buff it in the coming updates
I heard this one is the easiest to catch, so one of the other 2 is the better choice. I might go with the psychic one.

Awww Crystle is so dang cute but I knew he was the lesser choice when he was the only starter you could catch wild in the first main release of the game. Very in depth vid, hey thanksss! ^^

I went with Crystle, and it definitely does well in the first couple islands, but then falls off right about when you can catch a wild one. One other point in favor of Houchic is that in Kisiwa you can pick up Osuchi, and Osukai is an utter beast that seems to fit the same role that Seismunch does.
As a speedrunner, I have to give my point of view.
I have made multiple runs to try out each starter and that's the conclusion I made :
The first island is full of electric tems despite the theme of the island, which make Houchic the least favorable tem to have, also knowing that no catchable temtem on that island resist electric which make crystle the best temtem on the 1st island (especially with the crystal dust synergies)
The 2nd island is pretty even with the 3 starters, even if I have a preference for Smazee and his trait which boost attacks for every ember he gets (and that happens a lot) although this island is mainly cleared with a noxious bomb user (Ganki the god) Houchic can be super useful also to clean the numerous Skuchs which are hard to defeat (hello Belsoto in the Volcano)
The 3rd island is for Baboong, Uppercut rules and destroys everything, especially with the brawny traits.
By the 4th island you should have a Valash, and an Adoroboros, so no need for crystle or houchic anymore.
Therefore Smazee is (by far) the best starter !!!
(there is other reasons but the longer I write the least amount of people will read ^^)

So you don't like any of the other Melee types? How good is, say, Gyalis for playthroughs?
@@urkerab Gyalis is super flawed for multiple reason :
n1 : it is a 5% encounter rate which isn't ideal when you're speedrunning
n2 : His only melee move is Double Gash which is base 49 dmg (low compared with uppercut)
n3 : its trait resistance is OP in competitive but have very little value for a playthrough,Baboog Brawny would be much better
n4 : You will be much likely to use it for the 3rd and 4th island, but the 4th island has quite few earth tems who will threaten your gyalis
I can go on for each melee tems :
Skunch : only hold melee move (without eggmoves)
Osukan : (Osukai leveling like crazy and overall available too late / many weaknesses cause earth type)
Mushook : Not catchable, need a mushi and it takes time to evolve
Saipait : only hold melee move

i just picked up temtem a couple days ago and i've already dropped ~17 hours into it. i beat the first dojo and i've been grinding a lot using the ganki/nessla combo. now i'm wondering if i shouldn't have picked crystle lol.

Just got this game. I always go for dark/ghost/psychic type mons, although they never seem to be starters. Gengar and Litwick being my two alltime favourite Pokemon (Aesthetically, although Gengar is one of my favourites in game as well)
With this in mind I'll probably pick the corresponding starter in TemTem, as we actually have one as a choice here.
I might go with the lion though, I just need to find out more.

Me too. I love shedinja and ghost types I choose crystle and don't use water temtem. Every island is super effective to water temtem. Using piranant, or oceara or platipet or nessla is a trap.
Fun fact about the ai even if you have a nature temtem like kinu and a second temtem that's weaker by 4 levels, the fire type tem targets the weaker mon ignoring the kinu which is super effective. I like Golzy with Voltaic Charge (restores health when physical move). Tulcan(of course I evolved my tuwai duh).
the gift temtems Cerneaf, Vulcrane(actually ok it kinda looks to much like a human but it's a great earth tem), nessla, loali, piranant.
Tuwai is my favorite because it allows you to have alternative typings as my first.
Tortonite is intriguing. But, I gotta go with Houchic as a second opinion.
Crystle has a awesome final evolution.
i quitted temtem a year ago when houchic's evolved form tental's passive ability got nerfed so i am happy that houchic is still considered as the best starter temtem.
The extremely easy answer is Smazee. Used right, you can even use it to meme ranked matches if you feel like it.
I havent played the game, but houchic for sure. I've always wanted a psychic starter in pokemon. definitely prefer the mental/melee/crystal trio over fire/water/grass personally.
design i love the houchic line, but luma wise it is the crystel

When the game was still in Alpha (no guides available) I picked Houchic --- the design and telekinesis drew me in.
Chose Houchic as Crystle is the 1st starter you can encounter. All 3 are good still.

i get it that video was before cipanku but judging from my gameplay and my team and the game crystle when it evolves into tortenite it will be an ideal tank for your team and fun fact its crystal spikes attack does a significant amount of damage i didnt expect from it...plus it helped me with its signature move tortenite's garden to decimate and easily beat with only 5 healing items general x and not give it in easily as i would with the other starters..i know all of them are cool but tortenite in my opinion is the best especially for starting players or even the most experienced who know how to utilize their gameplay style...as i said my opinion but ye i accept your opinion as well :D
The devs blessed Houchik with the Superior Hue of Purple, of course it's the better pick.
I really dont Care wich is strongest, i Go for coolest, and to me thats Smazee... That said, i think they should buff up crystle so that New players are not Punished for picking her.

I love crystal but I had to go with the smazy Lion because it just fits with me while crystal doesn’t plus you can get crystal first

I chose Crystal to carry be through the first island but didn't like it's final Evo so I dropped it.
Hoping to pick up a Smazee in Cipanku because my team could always use a rock throwing monke.

Yes, Smazee really seems to struggle on the first island, even though it's mostly neutral to everything, but Crystle really shrugs off those Sparzy.
apparently it's dead easy to get a cryste in the wild anyway. I'll probs go with the wee lion as well. I love the look of the psychic one, and some people have said it's the best one. I hear though that this one is really weak in the first area due to being weak to lightning though.
wish I could find some solid info on best starter, as I want to start this game and can't till I know for sure which one to pick :(
@@D00M3R_MAVS The floating purple mental type one that looks like Mew from Pokemon.
Last time I played, that things final evo was easily the best out of the 3.
Good stats, good ability, and great typing.
Dunno where Crystal stands and I'm pretty sure Smazee was also very decent.
I talk from a PvP perspective but from experience in Pokemon and Dark Souls I can say that PvP metas tends to translate mostly well to PvE.
If something is good against a human then it'll likely be decent against an AI.
Crystal dude tanks, Mental one is special offence and the Monkey is physical offence.
I'm super picky when it comes to style so Smazee was the only real choice for me given its final Evo looks the nicest to me.
You also get Crystal come the 3rd island I think it is?
He's the earliest one too pop up so the other two might be a solid choice if you wanna do a triple starter playthrough.

The hardest part of TemTem is easily the first Island because of the players lack of options and general game knowledge.
Crystal is sorta the cheese pick and it'll get you through the first Island pretty reliably but that's not to say it's the only choice to make the game easy.
A wind/electric type exists on the first Island that will easily overpower the first Island because of it's offence.
Little guy is a bit too cute for my tastes but it's usefulness is undeniable even beyond the first Island.
I forget it's name but it's pretty commonly found.
I ended up using the first route 1 bird, rodent, Crystal and the gift bird to get me through the first Island.
My team ended up becoming mono flying by the 4th Island because those two birds specifically where amazing and I fell in love with the bird looking Tems as a whole.

crazy idea: i think smazee is on cipanku actually, because golzy according to that twitter post was bred for muscly jobs...aka...it was bred to be melee...and it has the orange fur...that very recognizable orange fur...again its crazy but maybe
choosing Crystal and naming it Gamera
Crystle is the easiest to use, Houchic is the hardest in the early run, Smazze are balanced in the long run. All rewarding in the end just the beginning is almost a dark soul difficulty since it's easy to get K'O so easily.

I might get yelled by this but...
Have you seen loomian legacy? The game is still on early stages but the story even if its still developing is starting to become awesome and serious, the loomians also have amazing designs.. Sadly it being in roblox just makes it quite fall a bit since most items that help you or give you a leg work is behind a pay wall (wish roblox removes the money aspect) but its still quite good since its an mmo and can let you play it with others
The graphics are pretty cringe but good game overall

I really liked Crystle and its evolution. Then the last evolution happened and all I was left with was disapointment... I really do not like the design for the last form.
I don't mind it but its my least favorite
I’m the exact opposite, I don’t care for the first two evolutions but I love the last one.
Does not matter that much. You will not have a perfect temtem from the starter. I think i just released my starter after getting to the endgame. And the "best" starter i would say is seismunch, but as you say houchic might have the bigger advantage early on. You will however have no problems finding other good mental temtem before getting far into the game, but you'll not find other temtems that are earth/melee. But the real reason i would but seismunch before naganis is because of the earth move he can use every second turn that hits the entier enemy team. While he got hellicopter kick as a first move that also hit the entier team.
Idk dude, since mine evolved into a nagaise it’s been getting clapped by most everything.
I'm thinking of doing an updated version of this. Nagaise was pretty good, but I feel like Seismunch might be better now with the full game. Nagaise is good until the late game imo.
@@GymLeaderEd couldn’t agree more. My buddy who’s using Seismunch seems like he had an easier time with end game than I did. Early game I dogged walked everything with nagaise but the further you get the more toxic and electric Tems you run into.
if you wanna breed and make money smazee is the way to go because of their unavailability in the game and the gender ratio (i found that one out the hard way)

Let me guess: this is yet another monster collecting game where basically anything big and menacing is useless while the super skinny monsters are overpowered. This feels like a problem in so many Monster collecting games, and it's kind of frustrating.
