I used to think like that but now I understand why the Pokemon series have always done this since the beginning and now, still. It fits much more with their design and progression loop. It gives everyone an understandable and universal "language" of the simplest element types that they've learned through common sense or at very young age. Fire beats grass. Grass beats water. Water beats fire. Simple and universal. Then they lead the player to the complex types just a while later until they understand the basic principles. Good design. "What the hell is psychic? What the hell is fairy? Those don't exist in real life! How do I know which is better against this damn bug 🐛!" That's why there are usually mostly flying and bug types in the early game in all Pokemon games. Different for the sake of different isn't usually always a good thing.
You can't get them at the moment so far crystle is the only temtem that you can at the moments other temtem will be tame able later when we get new updates
They have two copies of the game. If you want crystals temtem then you have to purchase the crystal edition and if you want the physic temtem the. You have to purchase the physic edition or you can get both for $120.
I'd say Chrystle best choice because I started with Houchic and it's unholy how strong electric types are in the early game especially since 70% of temtem you get early on are flying type or evolve into flying type.
I'm thinking of choosing Smazee for the challenge (and it's cool design), but this video definately gives me more to think about. Can't wait until tomorrow!

I gotta say I love the thorough in-depth analysis you give when looking at Temtem. I don't speak English very well, but I will try to explain something about Smazee. Smazee is a very good starter, It may not have the skills with the highest attack numbers, however his base ATK is already very high resulting in strong attacks and low stamina consumption, remember to consider this when doing the math. I don't think there is a right or wrong choice, choose what you like the most to not regret it later. btw good video.
I think crystle is an even better choice for the 1st dojo because its the only way to supereffective hit the sparzy she has. Its also has its ability amphibian which makes it even faster if hit my a water technique, making it good against oceara and kalabyss
Yeah it's super good for the whole first zone, but falls off a bit right after that. All those points were observations I had as well while doing my playthrough. - Livid
@@LegacyGamingUS i think its fine that it drops off a little. The further in you go the more options you have for filling out your team to compensate. In the 1st island the prevelance of lightning and mental types in the hardest challenges (lady lottie, the 2 goons with her on the tower and sophies sparzy) make a crystal type pretty indespencable. Its like how bulbasaur was in red and blue, being solid afainst the first 3 gyms while your options are more limited
This game is getting me hype! Get all starters! A real challenge from the beginning with the first gym! I'm a grinder so I will be leveling up my temtem to highest temtem. Dam this makes me want to get gaming laptop

I love the look of Crystle, but I'm not sure how to use a defensive temtem without any ability to direct damage to it. I just wish the defence boosting techniques didn't have a 1-turn hold on them. Crystal Dust technique looks super interesting though!

Im personally going crystle i already knew i was cause i find it the cutest of the three. Just watching this cause all my friends chose houchic and smazee so i was quite interested in just how hard of a time they were having (i got way ahead of them during the stress testing so yeah). Personally i dont care if crystle is the 'best' temtem to start off with to beat the first gym i just chose it cause its cute. Could be absolutely the weakest for all i care and i still woulda chose it heh. Very cool that you can catch the others in the wild though cause i really wanted a houchic to. Not much into smazee since i dont care for monkeys though lol
Crystle is actually a great choice for beating the first gym. The Crystal type is the only one that's really capable of dealing with Sophia's electric type so you're making a smart choice. Crystle is also a strong defensive pick, which is never a bad thing to have on a team. I think you're making the right call!

One piece of constructive criticism I will offer is very trivial but maybe an idea you can implement in future videos and that’s supplementing with information about possible pairing options from the available wild temtem to offset starting temtem weaknesses or complimenting starting temtem strengths. I know that would made this video much longer so I’m just throwing this out there as something that could possibly be covered in the future. Cheers!

Just got my ps5 today and got this houchic was gonna be my choice even without research and id hard search for crystal also glad u said crystal is able to be found the earliest so it all works out
I picked Crystle as it was the only one whose design I liked (others ok but not my bag) but I'm glad the devs were fair no matter the starter you pick combat wise.
I don't know why I'm watching this when I already decided I wanted the floaty one with the mewtwo tail because I like the little blue pads on the bottom of its feet. (The most legitimate reason to choose something)

Also, do the starters really only have one evolution? And an underwhelming evolution, at that. But oh well, the other designs are great! I'm glad Platypet made it into the game, it looks so cute!

This is actually a really important point for an online-only game. I have the team has the foresight to understand that something COULD eventually happen where they have to stop actively developing the game, and making sure fans still have a way to play would help them save face. If they just shut it down there'd be problems.
the time i aware of ev and iv years ago, it took my enjoyment from playing pokemon, cuz since then i always stressed about catching/breeding pokemon with the right ev/iv/nature
Yep, but they have a pretty good rate of SV's being perfect in the wild, and if you don't want to TV train, if you have the ingame currency, you can buy fruits to raise and lower the values you want pretty easily. Not so bad!

I went with Houchic because ive been a psychic fan since i was a little kid. I played a psychic magein MMOs for 10+ years So houchic was my instant pick.
I chose the turtle because its final evolution is probably gonna be the safest to be cool/decent looking. The monkey seems to be a bit of a wildcard when it comes to final evolution. The purple thing is downright ugly and its humanoid headshape is gross.

There is definitely more variety. Only half of the planned Temtem are released so there is still plenty that could change, but for now things are looking good!
Can you catch crystile before the first dojo? This is a super important factor for me as I'd rather smazee, unless o can't get a cristile before the first dojo. Then crystile is my definite choice.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Houchic. It's way too squishy and gets taken down too easily by too many Temtem early on. I much prefer Crystle due to its beefy attack and defensive stats. Crystle also plays off other Temtem much better in my experience. Though I could easily have just made some bad early squad building choices cause after resetting my file with Crystle it's going much more smoothly.
Three questions. One, does anyone know when TemTem is being released for the Nintendo Switch? And Two, If I were to purchase the Steam version now, would my save data transfer over to a full version? And Three, if I purchase the Steam version for early access, would I have to pay extra for the full version or would free updates to get the full version be included in the Early Access?
So the Switch version doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is 100% coming. In terms of cross saves that is something the team is shooting for, but hasn’t been confirmed as happening quite yet. Finally buying the game in early access should mean you get the full game at launch, it would be terrible if you had to pay more and I think fans would be really upset.

I just went right for Smazee because Melee is basically the equivalent of Fighting types which is one of my favourites in Pokémon.

No matter what when this game comes out, I'm choosing the mental(psychic) type because never in the history of Pokemon could you start with a psychic type.

I'm already annoyed that the third one is not blue... I love the idea of a mental type starter, but the green absolutely doesn't fit with the purple and white and looks ugly imo :(

I've heard that crystle is the only one in EA that you can catch in the wild the other 2 will be put in later in an update? Is this true or false.
This is true! Over the course of the next year they will be added in as other islands become open.
