    18 SIGNS YOU'RE AN INFP: • 18 Signs You're An INF...
    Because I'm actually not an INFP, but an INTP, I'm going over the 18 signs again and I add some explanation and clarification.
    The 18 points still apply to INFP, but most of them can also apply to INTP, so I'm explaining the differences here, to make sure that you get more information and that you can decide which one you are.
    INFPs and INTPs are quite similar because they share 2 cognitive functions at the same place. But INFP leads with Fi and INTP leads with Ti. These two MBTI types can have the same behaviors, but for different reasons.
    Let me know what you think, if it helps or not!
    Thank you for watching!

    as an INFP i do feel like i need to re-read, re-learn, re-investigate most topics again and again-- i find this to be true because i use emotional application to my learning rather than pure logical understanding. therefore the meaning and 'what is' is very dependent on my current take on the world.

      Mmh, I tend to revisit some materials from times to times as well, and it's also because my state has changed so I believe I will understand something more, but it's more about the state of my knowledge and understanding, rather than meaning and emotions. Interesting! Thanks for sharing :)

      I think I'm an INFP but I think I have never really had a problem with logical understanding, I've always been one of the fastest students in maths and physics in high school, I know that there these subjects are studied in a basic level, but I remember I used to arrive to the right answer before most of my classmates or even before the teacher explained it (if it was a new topic) and some of my friends used to ask me how I did that but I found it pretty obvious to do so and I never really had a problem explaining how I did it to them. Still I do sometimes feel pressure to give “logical” and “moral” opinions in public because I don't like to talk about a topic until I make sure I really know what I'm talking about but when I arrive to a conclusion I don't usually doubt it and I'm not really that afraid to cause a conflict because of it with that I kind of enjoy when people disagree with me in some topics because I like to have respectful discussions.
      But I heavily relate to making most of my life decisions based on my personal values (right-wrong(but not necessarily in a logical correct/incorrect more of a subjective and personal but kind of rigorous of a correct/incorrect)/fair-unfair/how I feel about this...) unless I think that that specific decision requires a more logical or even a little bit more of a detached approach but I don't think I really switch my Fi off lol and I don't want to
      Maybe I'm just confused I'd buy that too 😂
      English is not my first language I learned thanks (mostly) to the internet so bear with me If I explained myself kind of roughly.

      @@Maria-ir1wq I'm pretty sure I am an INFP too, and I related to what you wrote a lot. The conclusion I've come to is that if, as an INFP, if you value logic, it is easy to be mistyped as INTP. The best way (in my opinion) to determine which one you are is to see what seems the most natural to you. It is said that people tend to think that their dominant function is very obvious, that they think that everyone obviously uses it. Hence, an INTP might think that everyone uses logic on a daily basis, while an INFP thinks that feelings/emotions come very naturally, so everyone has the urge to make decisions on that basis.

      But obviously there are some people that just like to live in a more shallow way and to be honest, I think that there isn't anything wrong about it they’re just living their life how they want to and If they don't fit with me that's fine.

    As for the reading part (self-typed INFP here) I am having a hard time with very dense and factual reading material. While, as you said, that logical and structured approach to matters is very appealing, it is not something that comes easily, nor naturally. The easiest way to learn for me is through the voice of other people, thus fact always being connected to some personal experience.

    Thank you, Michael, for sharing your work. For me, the main key that help to distinguish clearly INFP vs INTP is: #15, the kind of empathy of INFPs often works as a kind of contagion, to the point that sometimes it's hard to distiguish if the origin of your emotions comes really from yourself or not. Another point. I am INFP but it's hard to remember people's names. I don't care for everybody, it would be exhausting! I care for some selected friends. I would not choose to work "face to the public". I like better to work alone. I can work in our "T" world. Our world is focused in productivity and not focused in values, and it is getting more and more hard the field of personal relationships. We are lost the balance.

    • @roseloren3555
      @roseloren3555 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think for me, as an INFP, I am better suited to working in a way that is more values focused, and with individuals...but what becomes difficult when working with people more and more is almost a caring overload - if I don't constantly work on myself and try to develop thicker skin. Great to work with people but once I become afraid of how I might make others feel, I want to retreat or will quickly become exhausted and need a break to re-learn how to be ok with myself. Also, I am terrible with names most of the time, but getting names right is so important to me that I feel so bad for the person when I get their name wrong, and I find it hard to tell whether or not I am feeling my own feelings for myself or for the other person...

    I'm an INFP-T but I do relate to some INTP points related to empathy.
    I struggle with empathy sometimes when someone is too emotional (and even if they are not being too emotional).
    It's not like I don't wanna help them or don't know how to do so (because I'll do my research). Is just I can't feel anything towards them. Sometimes I'm just apathetic, cold even (I don't show it ofc). Idk how to explain it, it's complicated tbh. And I hate feeling this way.
    Another thing that happens to me is: I get bored of people too quickly. I'm working on this since some people take longer to decode and they can even surprise us showing how wonderful they actually are...
    But still. It's this struggle... I stop caring for them if they don't show too much. Like naturally if they are sad I'll actually be sad. I mirror emotions without even realizing it. But when it comes to the bigger picture... I can't seem to find anything that would make me consider them important people to me.
    Idk, I just... Perhaps, I have these impossible expectations about a relationship... Either being friendship or a romantic one.
    Funny thing is, if someone detaches from me I'll want to find the logical explanation of why this person did what they did. I'll have to have something that makes sense, I need the logic behind the action.
    Also I have this thing where I always want to be better, so I accept criticism really well (unlike what was supposed to happen). And the reason for that is by knowing what people don't like/appreciate about me (as long as it is something actually bad) I can improve. And when people don't tell me any thing, don't give me any feedback, I get angry. Because, I'm honest with them why can't they be with me?
    I ended up going off-topic but it's fine.
    Regarding the reading a book in 2 days is also relatable to me and I don't find it to be too much.
    Anyway, I've been watching a ton of videos about INFP people and felt this relief that so many people are like me. :)
    Your previous one finally made me feel understood so thanks for sharing it with us. 🧚‍♂️✨

      Hello
      I'm a year late
      But I can relate to your empathy problems or getting easily bored of people
      It's known that infp tend to be empathetic when they can relate to people problems, specially when they already experienced it or else (funny thing is that I actually write this comment because I feel empathy towards you, since I can relate to what you say !! )
      And so on the contrary we can struggle being empathetic when we can't relate to people's problems or feelings
      Also about being bored easily. I feel the same in every new relationship I get into
      I very quickly except a lot from people and then I get disappointed when they are not giving what I expected..
      Also I can feel like I get bored of someone when I kinda feel I've "explored" the person 🤷‍♂️
      Tho I'm sure it's only a bad intuition since people are always complex and interesting, but it's like the thing that we never finish projects, we get bored or we get attracted by something else. Well for people it's kinda the same!
      But we have to force ourselves, to keep maintaining the relation with this person because they are still amazing as they were 🥰
      I probably talked ALONE and no one will read this but if you've made it to the end, polly or someone else, let's maybe add me on instagram, we never know, we can discover each other and not get bored too quickly 🙃

      Try to read about cognitive functions. They are the fundamental base of MBTI and you can use them to type yourself. That's better than deciding according to stereotypes. If you think cognitive functions of INFP are what you prefer to use, you most likely are one. After all, we really know ourselves :)

    • @CaveyMoth
      @CaveyMoth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@lenula1 What's funny is that when you get really deep into introverted feeling, it has a rebounding effect where you go from knowing yourself really well to knowing almost nothing about yourself. It's like the Dunning-Kruger Effect. Or maybe that's just how it is for me. I can see myself falling apart physically, mentally, and spiritually..but I struggle to find what I truly stand for. I want to help people..but I want to be as far away from them as possible. I want to do good, but I cause a lot of harm. Basically, lots of self doubts and questions like this. That's an INFP paradox.

    I feel like I'm the only INFP that actually can't comfort people for heck. Like I get so worried and so anxious for them that I know I'll say something stupid and it just will go wrong and I hate negativity I just want to be happy....I can't handle it, its too much. When I was 12, my 15 year old online friend said she was gonna kill herself so I spent hours trying to comfort her but I made it even worse and she had to get help from someone else. I don't want that to ever happen with anyone else ever again. I feel so bad for people that sometimes I turn off my empathy and I have all this apathy and its why sometimes I can get ISTP on tests over INFP. I just don't know...Im really worried but I hide it. My brother always comforts people in the house, I think his ISFP though, but his really good at writing. I'm shit at writing.

    • @lenula1
      @lenula1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't worry, it's very INFP. We hate conflict the most out of 16 personalities and when we are not feeling ourselves, other people's worries make us feel worse, if not for anything else but because we don't have the capacity to listen to them which makes us feel guilty. Ofc we want our loved ones feel happy, so we try to help, but we are not doctors or superheroes. I think our own happiness should come first.

    • @CaveyMoth
      @CaveyMoth 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Causing pain unto other people is literally the last thing I want to experience. Yet almost every time I attempt to offer words of comfort to others, I end up bringing pain and even more uncertainty. I find that I act very emotional during routine tasks, but when it comes time for me to express my feelings, like when someone is crying right in front of me, I become stone cold. I've spent all my life hiding my emotions and pretending that everything is alright. I can't just show what's truly going on inside. When someone comes to me doing otherwise, it doesn't feel correct. So I end up making everything turn out wrong.
      It's kind of like this song...lol.

    Very clear and concise. Thanks for the great video. You clarified for me that I am indeed an INTP. I am everything you described above except, as a female, I do find myself drawn to people topics such as psychology, but I look at it in a very systematic, logic driven way. I think as a woman, especially from an older generation, we were forced to develop Fe beyond what was comfortable. A defining difference for me between T and F is that I have to “think” my way through feelings. In other words, I think of how I should respond to feelings, like “ok, I should probably give a hug now’” instead of automatically giving a hug. None of that comes naturally. I do however very easily pick up on others’ moods and can, after brief reflection, understand why they feel the way they do, and I do empathize.

  • @aliceverzelloni8435
    @aliceverzelloni8435 4 ปีที่แล้ว +32

    Hey, thank you for your videos, they are always helpful and you explain things very clearly. I think I'm an INFP and yes, for some weird reason, I have to find meaning in everything, especially if it is something new that has to become part of my routine, it has to be something with a lot of meaning that I know will change my life. Also I think INFPs question a lot their own type because they can "relate" to many other characteristics of other types, because they understand that perspective as well. But understanding something just because you feel it does not mean it is your own. INFPs feel everything, including other people's feelings and it is very easy to mistake those feelings for their own. I believe INTPs question their type more for a need of seeking the most intangible truth, so they love to see other people's perspectives without being too attached to them, a bit like a stream that is constantly flowing with ideas. Can we say that while for INFPs feelings make them think, for INTPs thoughts make them feel?

      You're welcome, thanks for your comment :)
      What you said about INTP questioning their type makes sense. Why would you say that INFP question their type? Or why do they feel the need to know?
      And I believe that thought and feelings are connected. If you think something like "I'm proud of myself", you will feel good. What you think determine how you feel, and what you feel determine what you think. For me I'd say that when I can spot consciously this happening, it's more when I notice my feelings, and then they make me think, because I try to analyze them, and because I don't really understand my feelings I'm trying to get better consciously. Whereas for my thoughts, it's more like it's a constant flow, so more unconscious. But I'm definitely capable of analyzing my thoughts as well

    when i took the test for the first time (about 1 year ago) i got infp. after taking it a multiple times after that (few months ago till now) i mostly got infp. but feeling and thinking were like 51/49 or the other way around, which made me more curious. i couldn’t quite relate to some things, which were mostly typical for an infp. that being said, i did some other tests and i researched A LOT. sometimes i got intp and sometimes i got infp. then, after taking the mbti test again, BUT with the help of my mother, i got 71% thinking and 29% feeling. while taking the test with my mother, i noticed that i answered some questions wrongly when i did it myself. i’m not sure why, but i am not able to assess (?) myself when it comes to specific themes (idk if that is an infp or intp thing - or if it’s just me personally). i became aware of some things, which my mom told me. for example, even tho my mood can change quickly, i am not that good with dealing with feelings generally. it’s not like i don’t know WHAT i feel all the time (sometimes i don’t know tho), it’s more like, i don’t know WHY i feel a certain way (if that makes sense). also, i took the enneagram test (multiple times again) and got type 5 (5w4 to be exact). some people say, that many intps with 5w4 are being mistaken for an infp, or the other way around. i relate more to the intp type.. but i still think that i am not, idk, emotionless (?) enough to call myself an intp. ugh, it’s really frustrating. i did SO much research, but still can’t find myself to accept it and just let it be.

      wow, my way of trying to find which type i am resembles yours. but i think I'm more on infp side. like, i absolutely love logic, but my decisions are way too far from logical thinking. my feelings or some senses ( ? ) overwhelme me and i act just like they want me to 😂
      but i don't know how to explain the fact that i still can't really feel some feelings. like, i need to think that i feel something, because actually i don't feel it, but society or just people around me will not understand ! !
      i can feel deeply, but not the feelings that people around me feel ¿
      gosh, i think I'm infp, cause my explanations are toooo feelings-oriented and have no logical structure 👌

      I relate to your experience...a lot. I initially mistyped myself as an INTP. And with enneagram 5w4, INTP seemed an absolute fit. Yet, something seemed amiss. INTP basic traits seemed to fit me, but the deeper I went, the less relatable it seemed. It was just a few months ago, with the help of a friend of mine, I got to know I was actually an INFP 5w4. It is said that INFP 5w4 often mistype themselves for an INTP since this combination(INFP 5w4) is quite unusual. (I feel thru my brain and think thru my heart...if it makes any sense) My friend is an INTP 5w4. And the difference in our brain wiring was quite evident, even early on. Yes, I still doubt my type from time to time,but I can say I have reached a fair conclusion as of now. Still, having a life long puzzle to solve is quite interesting and philosophical...don't you think? And how better could it be...when the puzzle is you, yourself.
      As the video pointed out, I often seem to seek a meaning in everything in existence, every new encounter or anything new I get, seemed to have a meaning...linked to my past, making a pattern. Does this experience seem to coincide with your's?

      I could relate myself as enneagram 5w4. Yeah i could see that as an intp, i am too emotional inside. I feel i'm an infp too. Until i finally able to talk with 2 infp people, i realized that i couldn't live without my 'logic' (don't take this in literal meaning)😂, while with my fellow thinker (entj and istj) i just felt at home. I never really have an interest to keep my personal view about moral value, i always tend to outsource moral value from outside world rather than my own. I can not be stubborn about my own feeling, and instead i care more about others feeling (Fe). So yeah, as enneagram 5w4, i could 87% confidently say i'm an intp.
      I just believe guys, you actually could easily found your type by reflect yourself with cognitive functions, because it's just obvious.

    INTP here - our biggest fear comes from inferior Fe. We are afraid that people will think we are not a good person. That we will harm someone by our behavior (happened to me so many times when I was younger, I had very little empathy). And I wish for everyone to be well, but I do not know how to do it.
    The world making sense is easy for me, I just observe it as it is at the moment and amend my system. I am not afraid since I am the one who makes sense of it.

    A year ago i did a personality test & turned out to be an infp. But as u explain these differences i wonder if i am really an infp or an intp. Because few points u said about intp resonates with me too -
    1) I can't say that i really care about people's names, their birthdays, etc. I try sometimes, but often i don't give much effort at it either or i fail.
    2) I have had times when i felt like i dont need people too.
    3) Yes, i care a lot about animals (specially) or people in distress, but sometimes i seem cold and selfish to people.
    4) And, I am not a cute or uwu girl as most mbti memes portray infp to be.
    5) I remember being more interested in science and maths until my twenties, with art being just a hobby, but now i am in my late twenties, considering a career shift to arts, because this stuff is getting increasingly difficult for me to balance with social and personal life. I am not happy in my current career (i am an agriculture graduate), and also i have a feeling that i might terribly fail in it, even if i somehow learn to make a living out of it.
    I wish i found some answers... I am still trying to understand myself.

    I've taken the test twice now and both times got the same result - INFP. But I am very empathic. I can feel how other ppl feel as soon as I share a space with them. So it throws me off when ya say that INFP struggle with empathy. I have gotten to the point where I feel other's emotions sooo much that I've had to learn how to turn it off enough to figure out what emotions are mine vs someone elses

    • @antzooma
      @antzooma 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what you're describing is what an INFJ does. INFPs are capable of empathy it's just if you had to describe it you would say they are being sympathetic, INFPs are reacting quite fast but in reality they are not empathizing with a person and seeing it from their point of view or feeling what they feel, they are looking back in their own archived experiences to find something that relates closely to it and that's how they empathize. If you feel other's emotions and change based on that emotion, try and avoid bad vibes or topics because it changes your own mood, in a sense absorbing that emotion and struggle to gain a sense of your own emotions then you're more of an INFJ

    • @letsreadtextbook1687
      @letsreadtextbook1687 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with the reply above me. Infps are notoriously empathic. We might not always express that we have "absorbed" others' emotion, heck sometimes we even absorb it subconsciously, but we do since we often manage to find even small part of someone to relate and figure out how we'd feel in their shoes that way

    hey there, .. watched your earlier video, and this one (well done on both counts I must say), and I do understand how things can get a little muddled and be hard to be sure (and require RIGOUROUS self honesty) and I my case it is further compounded by ALOT of early life trauma, but regarding what you have presented here I think that for me the most telling issue is what you addressed in point 11, I have always had a pronounced aversion to large crowds as I feel as if I am being bombarded by a massive barrage of conflicting (or even focused but unpleasant) emotions, and though I seem to have mastered suppressing my own emotions to the point where I often feel numb, I seem to have a constant struggle with that, and lastly whenever I am interacting with anyone individually there is always an undertone of trying to consider what is best for them which can sometimes lead to interactions that hurt their feelings, but whenever that happens it takes me some time and effort to work through what occurred, ... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  • @myelixir
    @myelixir 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really enjoyed this video and your previous INFP one. (I was a bit worried when I began this one as I really related to the other video!)
    I had always got INFP on MBTI tests I had occasionally tried in the past and hadn't thought about it much more, but recently I began to really wonder whether I really was an INFP. I started by taking some tests and cognitive functions tests and mainly tested as INFP, but occasionally INFJ, which I also really related to. I was starting to think I might be an INFJ and had just mistyped myself. As the more I tried to see things objectively truthfully the more INFJ I felt I could be. But after investigating in greater depth, outside of the world of personality tests I feel pretty sure now that I am indeed an INFP.
    I'm commenting particularly with regard to the logical side of the INFP which isn't mentioned enough, I think! And in fact this is part of the reason I thought maybe I had to be an INFJ. I was (as you said in your other video) very good at maths as a child and in fact I did a maths degree at Cambridge. I never LOVED maths, but I knew objectively that I was good at it. I mean, I wasn't good compared to others at Cambridge, but I still got there, right? Which must mean that my mind can work in the kind of way to relatively easily solve scientific problems. I didn't have the passion to work in that area though. And I don't like puzzles or anything like that. I mean I wouldn't choose to do a puzzle, but if I do one, I can see sequences and things. Actually my deepest love was always music and I am now a music therapist - something which I feel kind of found me as you know - clearly I did initially do a maths degree. I actually found there area of science I was most interested in and best at (astrophysics) a bit despairing though at University, because it just got further and further away from The Sky and The Stars and further and further into equations. I love an equation that helps understand a truth like Olber's Paradox, but sometimes I felt despair at the deconstruction of beauty into mere sums. I didn't know being a music therapist was a job when I was a child! But it found me. And I will say that even in dreams I never craved to be a performer. I would have loved to write music for film or something like that had I had more confidence in myself as a child and teenager. I don't know, just wanted to say something on the logical thought INFPs are capable of. And I feel like I can think about things logically and analytically... but thinking about things in this way is in no way a passion for me. Seeking emotional meaning and deep purpose is a passion.
    I found your talk of empathy interesting here too and the INFP talk I really related to. This is something I struggled with in the am I an INFP or INFJ too as sometimes I feel like I just feel others emotions rather than relating to them through my own experience. But, I do often relate emotional things to myself, oops. I adore art and I analyse the emotional meaning in everything I can and hate when art doesn't have that within it. AND, I am usually empathetic (I hope) but I SO related to when you talked about when INFP's aren't empathetic. When I was even a tiny child, my best friend who I obviously love - but when she got like a tiny paper cut or something she would cry and make a massive fuss and in retrospect she was just seeking external comfort, but it used to ANNOY me soooo much! I could feel the anger rise within myself - as someone who even as a child dealt with my feelings internally - it used to make me so angry how much of a fuss she made over a tiny thing. Not that I would say anything, but it just annoyed me inside.
    On a more troubling yet specific level, I sometimes struggle to relate to the pain people feel when they lose Grandparents. Now, my Dad is dead so I fully know what it is when someone you deeply love dies and I was a teenager when he died so it was very hard and I still feel that now. But only recently have I really been able to truly understand on a feeling level that many people can have that depth of relationship with Grandparents. All of my Grandparents were dead before I was born, so when someone loses a Grandparent I can't imagine losing a Grandparent or relate to my experience of it as I can't even imagine knowing a Grandparent. So I have to turn to thinking about how they must feel logically and that is just way less powerful in empathy terms than when I can more directly relate someone's experience to my own, I suppose.
    In creativity - I always thought of myself - though I am a musician and used to dance as a child as not personally creative. But I do actually love to be personally creative. What I am not is a performer. I am not a person who puts myself out there in any way and I guess that's why I ended up using music in my work for other people rather than being creative for myself. I do absolutely love that my job is different every day though!! And I love that I don't have to be an amazing musician to (hopefully) do some good as a music therapist. As someone who was a bit "I must only do the thing if I can be the best at the thing" as a child, it is so freeing as an adult to not care about being the best at anything. I have no ambition to be an incredible music therapist and you know present papers at conferences or anything. I am just happy if I can help one person and feel like I did some actual good in a day every so often.
    OK, that'll do for now. Sorry, because this probably didn't make sense - especially when I tried to analyse empathy. I'd like to clarify that of course I am sad for anyone who loses a Grandparent. I just don't feel it the same way as I have never even known a Grandparent so how could I feel what losing a Grandparent was like? Your description of times INFP's could lack empathy - I just feel this is kind of an example?

    Good corrections video, except as an INFP, dates and names don't stick for me, either. But I'll remember that someone said one time five years ago that they really wanted a specific model of toy when they were a kid and never got it. Or I'll remember the exact circumstances surrounding a milestone in my relationship with someone, like a first date or first kiss. Stuff like that, that I experience or others remember passionately in the moment, will be engraved in my mind.

    Well, about the science part, I am an INFP and I am a physicist. I've never struggled with being a scientist or regreted of studying physics, on the contrary, it helped me to understand things, to search for a meanig and to arrange my thinking. It is true though that I am not drawn anymore to the abstract part of science but I work in the "social" part of science. I am interested in those areas because I would love to help the scientific community and science students in some kind of way. So I think we can be in a very logical area, because we are looking for a meaning in every way, but we look for this converged areas or multidisciplinary studies (like science communication, policy for science, science journalism, or even physical medicine or some other areas) that help us express and allow us to be more creative with a less restrictive environment.

    Thanks for this video. I mainly type as INFP (which I think I am), but also sometimes as INTP (~25-30% of the time). My F vs T scores are always fairly close (once even 51/49), at most 60/40. Is it possible to straddle the line between T/F, or must a person always be distinctly either one or the other? At any rate, I strongly relate to both INFP and INTP but still feel like I don't quite fit into either one. This video helped me feel better about that, but again I still wonder if it's possible to straddle the line (or be close to it), and if so, what that implies for understanding your type.

    • @Maria-ir1wq
      @Maria-ir1wq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problem about being in the middle of both is that INTPs and INFPs just share their perceiving functions (Extraverted iNtuition and Introverted Sensing) but their judging functions are different and you can't really be an Introverted Feeler without being an Extraverted thinker (for INFPs) and you can't be an Introverted Thinker without being an extraverted Feeler (for INTPs). If you have one Introverted judging function the other one is part of your shadow stack (this happens with every kind of function, functions are always perceiving/judging and introverted/extraverted), so if you want to know what type you are you should probably learn how the shadow functions affect each type.
      As far as I know I think that most of the times when INFPs or INTPs don't know which type of these two are, It's because they are probably enneagrams 4w5 or 5w4. This is because some of the “traits” of enneagram 5 can be kind of associated with INTPs-eish “behavior” and some of the “traits” of enneagram 4 can be kind of associated with INFPs-eish “behavior”
      I know the word behavior is not really the best but I can't think of anything better right now

    I took the test back in high school and got INFP but halfway between thinking and feeling and didn't think much of it at the time. For the longest time I thought I am an INFP. I'm into art and I'm not great with match but I do have interests that seem very opposite of what usually spark interest for INFPs. Things like psychology, history, etc are things that highly interest me and I can read book or watch tons of TH-cam videos on these subjects for literal hours and not get bored. I take in A LOT of information everyday but sometimes don't have ways to process all that info which makes me overthink as I try to make sense of it (and it's more in a logical manner) When it comes to figuring out people I go with the approach of figuring out why they do what they do and what motivates them. If not for my interest in art I would've believed I was still an INFP but me not liking to deal with emotional people and never figuring out what to do or say in emotionally charged situations such as when my grandpas and dad died (which I was emotionally paralyzed and didn't know what to do) is what makes me think I'm more of an INTP. Also the fact I LOVE cop/detective/forensics types shows because I like analyzing the evidence in the shows and trying to figure out who the killer is and why they did what they did. I also used to play a lot of puzzle type games growing up and I got bored when I didn't have something like this or art to keep me occupied. I look up the weirdest topics on TH-cam because I have an insatiable desire to learn new things and understand it.

    About number 12, INFPs need more time with data, because we struggle a little more with organizing information, we need to take our time between the spaces and say "ok, what did I just read" and have a reflection about it (ay least in my case, I say, "how can this help me develop myself, my beliefs and values, or help going out of the struggle i'm having?"

  • @facetsofgrace

    So many similarities! It's quite a challenge to be sure, isn't it? I took the 16 Personalities test a couple times and got INFJ-A the first time and INFJ-T the second time. Recently, I took the test on the Personality Junkie website and was typed as INFP. I took the test again and tried to switch a few answers just to see if the results would differ but I still was typed as INFP. But then I saw this video and wanted to see if I may fit the INTP type. While I can relate to a lot of things you say about INTPs, the part that may push me more towards possibly being an INFP is the interest in data and techie stuff. I am not a maths & sciences person. My brain seems to freeze up when it comes to anything involving numbers, and it's difficult for me to retain information & processes involving tech matters. They don't interest me. As for empathy - I cry quite easily when I think about ppl's lives. I burst into tears when I first saw my partner's baby photo. It hurt to think about what he went thru as a child. Of course, there are times when I can remain neutral or be cold/unfeeling. It depends. I feel like I feel too much AND think too much, and it's exhausting. I think that contributes to my low energy.

    The clearest indicator of Fi dom and Ti dom is that Fi dom always see things and consult to Fi a k a personal authenticity i would say, and Ti dom would just don't care about feeling naturally, and if the feeling is too strong, Ti dom will consult to Fe, and under stress / over analyzing things, Ti dom will consult to Fi demon, so firstly Ti dom user will judge the world by their internal understanding of the world, not their personal authenticity, it's extremely detached modeling

    so, there are things I can grasp very quickly compared to other people as an intp, like learning a language and scientific concepts. but I'm much slower with learning math compared to most people which i guess is pretty ironic since I'm good at science concepts but not numbers. it also took me longer than average to learn how to drive

    15:01 - I realised that it wasn't enough for me to have someone else tell me that your type is INFP. I have to see it within me, every part of me is congruent with the functions and how I shape shift into the functions when needed. Although researching "logically" led me to beyond MBTi, to Jung's work in terms of Symbolism, Dreams, Self, Unconscious and Consciousness etc, ultimately I wanted to see all the parts of me in this Whole (Not possible or Not yet). And I had to attempt embodying all the Suspects (possible types) before I finally see it.
    Still seeking....

    I'm only 66% F(eeling).

    Also, I much prefer to talk than write. And over the years I've learned to do small talk and even kind of like it, for a little while. Hell, I can do small talk with my few friends and be fine with it.

    Nice video, have you learnt about Human Design? I'm a 1/3 Projector with Splenic Authority under this system and I'm an INFP under Myers Briggs. My partner is a 3/5 Manifesting Generator with sacral authority under Human Design and she's also an INFP under Myers Briggs like me. So we're the same type with MBTI but not with HD. I've personally found Human Design to be more accurate and useful due to how much detail it has. It's a lifetimes work to learn all of it. The more you learn, the more you discover other things to learn.

    Hm 🤔 honnêtement je te vois encore comme un INFP, mais je peux me tromper car je suis d’accord avec pas mal de tes arguments.
    Après j’ai douté énormément de mon type aussi et je me croyais même INTJ pendant un moment. À noter que pas mal de sources décrivent l’INFP comme étant le plus apte à douter de son type.
    Les INFP, au contraire des INTP, absorbent l’info très rapidement. C’est Te vs Ti. L’INTP avec Ti va devoir analyser chaque concept en profondeur pour l’intégrer à sa logique interne et les INTP sont généralement très lents à arriver à une conclusion à cause de ça vs les INFP qui avec Te ont juste besoin de comprendre le concept en général et vont pouvoir comprendre plus de concepts en moins de temps. J’ai du lire au moins 10000 pages sur le MBTI en tout. Je suis INFP et pourtant j’ai un métier très T (je suis chercheuse pour tout ce qui est réforme des lois, en Irlande, et je fais du droit financier). Je ne pourrais pas devenir psychologue ou faire un métier dans le social par exemple car les émotions des autres me fatiguent (j’ai Fi, pas Fe) et je semble très T pour les gens qui me connaissent superficiellement (je suis vue comme l’intello qui ne parle pas). Et je ne sais pas trop comment réagir quand quelqu’un se met à pleurer par exemple. Il y a pas mal de différents types d’INFP. Je pense qu’une grosse différence c’est que les INFP ont tendance à être hypersensibles alors que les INTP sont peu sensibles à la critique et ne la prennent pas personnellement.

      Merci de ton commentaire. Le parcours de Michael me fait douter sur mon type car on se ressemble énormément, mais tous les tests en ligne que j'ai fait me disent INFP, et ton commentaire fait également pencher la balance vers ce type. :)

    • @MichaelSimone
      @MichaelSimone  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, merci pour ton commentaire, super intéressant. Ce que tu dis pourrait coller, car même si je peux lire un livre en 1 ou 2 jour sur les INTP par exemple, c'est vrai que je suis encore en train d'évaluer si ça colle bien, et ce plusieurs semaines après.
      C'est intéressant d'avoir ton retour sur le fait que tu n'es pas forcément à l'aise avec les gens qui pleurent, mais comme tu dis, je pense pas qu'on puisse généraliser en disant que tous les INFP sont pareils. D'ailleurs sur les tests que je fais, notamment sur le site personalitymax.com/ le pourcentage que j'obtiens est assez clair en I, N et P, par contre je suis genre 60% T et 40% F. D'ou la confusion je pense.
      Et concernant la critique, c'est vrai que je m'en fiche un peu. Forcément ça va pas me faire plaisir, mais j'arrive très facilement à relativiser et à prendre du recul, sans prendre personnellement comme tu dis.

    • @Bo0mCha
      @Bo0mCha 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael De rien :) j’ai eu INTP comme résultat au test officiel du MBTI, donc je doute également. Dès le début mon T et mon F étaient quasi égaux. Quand tu as passé la première fois le test, tu as eu INTP ? Car avec Fi + Ne, l’INFP peut se mettre facilement dans la peau de n’importe quel type et en adopter les comportements après avoir compris les types et les fonctions, tout en devenant attaché émotionellement au faux type auquel il s’identifie, d’où le mistype. Et aussi, les INFP peuvent être très rationnels contrairement aux clichés, et se penser T (là encore, ça dépend, tu auras aussi des INFP clichés incapables de penser logiquement) Quand je me pensais INTJ, j’avais toujours INTJ comme résultat aux tests MBTI mais c’est juste que j’avais adopté le mindset d’un INTJ. Plus je lisais sur le sujet, plus je doutais de mon type (typique de Ne).
      Un autre indicateur INFP vs INTP, c’est que l’INFP a tendance à se méfier de Fe, tandis que pour l’INTP c’est Te. Et aussi, les INTP sont la plupart du temps énneagramme 5w4 ou 5w6 alors que pour les INFP c’est 4w5 (ceci dit, là encore je suis quasi autant 4 que 5).
      Après si tu n’es pas sensible à la critique, à moins que tu te mentes à toi-même, c’est plutôt INTP.
      Je ne peux pas te dire si tu es INTP ou INFP juste en me basant sur tes vidéos donc il va falloir faire de l’introspection. Bon courage en tous cas ;)
