I hooked up the eGPU via the thunderbolt 3 port again and whilst it worked it again deleted the 2080 MQ video driver. This time it wouldn't accept my Microsoft password so I have had to reset it. Just a word of caution. It was the Razer Core i was using.
@Roberto Cabrera I tried twice and both times it screwed up the drivers. The second time I had to reset the PC. I haven't tried since . Perhaps if I clone my drives before hand I can give it another go. I certainly recommend doing that before you try.
Thank you for the overview. It's amazing that Fujitsu have been able to create notebooks with a single hinge and there have been no issues of them breaking apart. I just learned that the same model I have reviewed here actually has liquid metal on the gpu!
I really dislike moving the rear ports to the side, also prefer the previous versions hinge design. I do however like the all aluminum build. Ended up going with the other design tho due to the rear ports
If you guys are considering getting this, it's a steal. I'm loving mine. Just picked one up last week and I'll be doing a vid on what it's like owning one. Love this review, it really shows the technical side of this laptop and it confirms that I made a good purchase
Thanks Stephen for the invitation at CES ! I If I have the posibility I will ...I think it was quite fun 😅 All in all I will consider your invitation . Thanks again 😁
There is a plastic cover over each hinge that snaps on , much the same way as the back cover snaps in place. One of mine had partly come off. I snapped it back in place and it is still in place. I thought I would mention it as a possible weakness. The hinge still works fine without the cover.
@@OWNORDISOWN Yes, but for the price they are asking for this system, that is too much of a weakness for me. I was going to purchase this but have now changed my mind based on the hinges.
Without doing that how would they cool an 80w CPU at 100% load? The chassis is 20mm thick. They could move the ports to the rear and have a heat sink on the left - but even laptops like the Helios and Triton cannot cool that much power with max fan and they have that set up. They would need a much larger set up I think. Look at the positives: my handbrake encode went from 19 minutes (same as my 8 core Ryzen 1700x) running in the 90s to 23 minutes (same as my 8700k at 4.5 Ghz) running in the 60s. I think the trade off is a fair one.
OWNorDisown thanks have been amazing bro yesterday I hit 34k followers and by Instagram becoming so strict it’s kind of made me get even more creative and come up with crazy challenges and now the videos have been even funnier so I just been enjoying it all been having so much fun doing gross challenges especially when it’s not my turn to do them but yeah been having so much fun bro and hoping to reach 70k to 100k by my birthday on June 28th but I think I’ll reach even more then that I still hope one day when your not so busy your able to do Instagram so I can shout you out and collaborate with you on some streams
@@nahuelvelozo7256 I would go for the Helios 300 because of the storage options. It has a second NVME m.2 slot, so you dont have to rely on the slower 2,5 inch SATA slot if the 512 gb stock is not enough. Even though you can connect a high speed ssd to the HP omen by thunderbolt 3, that is a mess.
If I remember it's the escape key, if not that it's the F2 or F12. I will have to try it when I get home. Keep forgetting. Either way, you cannot activate max fan in the BIOS. Uninstall the command center and reinstall from the windows store. If that doesnt work, do that again bust also uninstall the I think it's the command center SDK. You can see it as a download on their support page. Redownload that and then the Command center and it should have the max fan control.
Hey I have a hp omen 15 with intel i7 8750h and 2070max q version. My gaming temperatures were above 95 degree ceclius when playing games like battlefield 5, apex, tomb raider. Then I used throttlestop to undervolt by -150 and alo reduced the max clock speed to 3.2ghz on all cores. My temperatures have dropped to 90. Is that okay? Can i play on it for 3-4 hours on 90 degrees? I have also noticed that when i play titles like Resident evil 2 remake, the temperature is around 80 degrees only for the cpu. So i can say that the undervolt is working. But will running my cpu on 3.2ghz at 90 degrees for long effect my system? Please drop me a reply when possible.
2.5 hours of battery. Deal breaker. Manufacturers need to understand that at least 6-7 hours are needed for basic productivity. People buy laptops like this not for gaming only. Really good laptop but battery is a deal breaker. Awesome review as usual. Very neutral. Thanks
Arūnas Jonas Kastėnas You can still buy Lenovo Y540, you have basically whole package there, nice gaming performance and when you need to take it somewhere, enable hybrid mode, reboot and it will last those 5-6 hours on battery.
Yes, that is my main complaint on this laptop. Give me 2 x m.2 slots and one larger battery to get it to 4 hours or even better a mux switch as I would like to take advantage of quicksync too.
OWNorDisown Oh really, this day cannot be any better then. Funny, I just wanted to ask you if you gonna put your hands on it as well. I mean, Jarrod’s comparison has been amazing, but honestly I really missed your tweaking options and especially straight in game looks, because I prefer to check it myself when you play than in multiple graphs. I will definitely stay tuned! Your unit is paired with 1660 ti or 2060?
thank you very much for your review, this helped me so much to select a laptop for my brother. He is happy with ti and that is huge because he is so picky.
@@OWNORDISOWN Could you help me? I tried to replace the intel optane in the HP omen 15 dh0006la for a1 tb nvme ssd. First I disabled the optane from windows, and then turn the laptop of to replace the drive. After that it did not start, in Bios I can't see the drives, it does not recognize the nvme or the Sata SSD, if I put back the intel olptane, it did not boot.
Can you consider making a review for the omen 17 rtx 2070 it came out few days ago its an updated version of the omen but its a full rtx please consider making a review for it!
hi steven i really need your help i just gave my laptop ( similar model ) to a friend to repaste it so he accidentally bent the heat sink and now my laptop overheats too much and i can't find it can please show where i can buy this heat sink and to be precise i have hp omen 15 dh-1002nk and thank you in advance
I am pretty confused within predator helios 300, y540 and omen 15.All have pros and cons but looking for one with good performance with better thermal mainly for editing. Which is better to go for? Anyone? Thanks
Best I can get is about 3 hours and that is with adjusting max CPU performance to 15% in power settings, undervolt, 25% brightness, no key lighting, power saver.
So no luck getting the older version of the Omen Command Center installed and working around that 45W limit? And resetting to the factory image didn't help either?
@@OWNORDISOWN Please read my comment below. You can have more than 45w in new command center just 5 or so minutes and then stuck at 45w and default profile or even silent. Try previous version and in performance mode you get more than 45w if temps are ok. Does Omen button works? Mine not.
At first, I was kind of scared thinking that (no offence) a bit of an older person was telling me all of this and I thought that he may just be reading off Wikipedia. But, after watching a few videos, I realised that I was wrong, this guy knows what he's doing and he's really helping me choose my laptop. Thanks!
That's my objective and one thing to remember - we all get older . I do receive nasty comments about my age and all I can say is that I hope that even when I reach 65 years old I will continue to be active both on TH-cam and playing computer games.
I've just turned 50 and although I'm no avid gamer, I do enjoy playing 1 or 2 titles. I grew up in the sinclair spectrum/ commodore 16 years so I've always loved computers and been into video games. I must admit I do get a little bit of grief from the wife saying I'm too old for playing games.....she just doesn't get it !!! I'm glad there are many other "older gamers" around.
I'm really really struggling to decide on what laptop to get....watched so many vids featuring hp omen, msi raider, asus, acer and there are just so many to choose from.......I'm looking for one that is close to £1000. Would prefer a 17" although 15" would suffice with a minimum of a gtx 1060 and possibly a 120hz screen. Please could you give me your opinion on which would be the best buy.
Do you think that the i7 9750h version with 1660ti would have similar temps and not sacrifice too much power due to the HP's cooling solution of reducing the wattage of the CPU? I'm torn between this omen, Asus Rog strix g 531 Gu and Acer predator Helios 300 ( all with i7 and 1660ti) which one would you suggest if I might ask?
I still think the CPU will boost up OK, perhaps not to 3800 Mhz all the time, it may take an undervolt to do that but I am confident the temps will be OK. I actually have the G531 to unbox and test. The Helios 300 didn't always boost up fully either , much like the triton 500 needing an undervolt.
Great review, I'm going to buy one, but i'm not sure which one whether the lenovo y540 or New hp omen 15, can you help me which in your opinion its a better deal? Great review It was very good.
I heard from other vids that the excessive bloatware is a major problem with HP when setting up. Whats your thoughts? Thanx in advance. On a side note being that I'm not a gamer, and only a 3d modeler, do the fans come into play like they do for gaming?
There is the usual junk like HP Jumpstart , HPAudio switch, HP Smart and HP System Event Utility and I haven't used any of them. They try and get you to send the usual data about your usage at start up but I declined it all and that is the last you hear about it. The fan speed is directly related to the heat which in turn us directly related to the load on the CPU and GPU. For example my Magix editing software when rendering my videos makes the CPU (i9) run ant about 40% usage but I can get all 8 cores at 4 Ghz at 74 degrees using the auto fan. Sure, I can hear it but it not as loud as the max fan. As the CPU load increases it decreases the watts and also the clock speed so the temps aren't bad at all.
Excellent review Stephen! Was really curious about the new 2019 Omen lineup, as I almost bought one this month but dodgy HP/Omen store turned me off and got an EVOC PB71RF-G from HIDevolution. Shame the Omen 15T lacks a MUX switch (even if for gaming I welcome dGPU+Gsync only over Nvidia Optimus any day but I just game), seriously it would make a kick-ass portable content creation machine with that 8c/16t CPU + Intel Quicksink+ Nvidia Optimus for increased battery life. Nevertheless I think at 2.3K USD it still offers better value for content creation hobbyists than a 4k USD Gigabyte aero 15 OLED YA unless you truly need a 7 hour battery life. Personally I think in 2020 all 15.6" chassis should ditch the 2.5" HDD bay, M.2 NVMe SSD are getting cheaper, and make room for larger batteries.
Thanks mate ! Yes, I agree totally with everything you say. I actually bought a 150w car charger for it as most of my travelling is in a car. It charged 60% in a n hour so not bad.
Hi Steve ,nice review and I am thinking of getting the new Omen 15 ,I don’t game but just for 3D modeling and animation.Rendering will be done on as well. I think I will go for the 4K but if you say the 2070 is just 7% faster than the 2060 ,does it make sense to get the 2060 instead and what price range will you consider as a great buy . Found the oled rtx2060 ,32gb ram and 1tb ssd for 1900 on Amazon .Thank you
What was the mode the laptop was set one when you made this video and by how much would you expect the temperatures to increase if this had an RTX 2070 (not max-q)
Thank you for this video! I'm having trouble deciding between the 15" vs 17" of the newest Omen. I did watch your other video that features both sizes and shows them side by side and I greatly appreciate it. I am an architecture student and will be using this for my schoolwork. Anyone with advice?
After using both if I was to buy one now I would go for the i9 version of the 17" mainly because I do like the larger screen. The extra coiuple of lbs in weight isn't a huge deal for me. That being said I do prefer the brighter screen on my 15", but perhaps the 240 Hz panel will be better. I think the main deciding factor will be if you prefer a larger screen vs the extra weight really.
would you consider making a video in the future of how you did the undervoltage on the cpu. temperatures are whats holding me from actually buying the laptop and if undervolting a bit can lower the temps i would very much like to know how to do it safely. great video and thanks
Thanks. This is the new version. Here is my review on the new 17t with the i7 9750h: th-cam.com/video/Ob-a_UnMnfo/w-d-xo.html Note though, HP pushes more watts to the CPU in performance mode on the 17" than on the 15", hence why I use default mode on that. Default mode on the 17" is more like performance mode on the 15t.
Thanks Hector! I use Fraps to measure frame rates, MSI afterburner to visually check on clock speeds, power and temps on games but ues HWINFO64 to record average and max metrics. Hard drive speeds Crystal dismark.
Great channel and useful content, really informative 👍 I could really use some advice about hp omen 15 i5-9300h 1660ti for everyday use and gaming, any good? Thermals? Thanks
Thanks! Is that in the previous chassis design? Not sure if the new command center with max fan control is available for that, but if it is then it should help. If not then when I reviewed it last year an undervolt was all I needed to keep it cool. If you live near a Microcenter they have the i7/ 1660Ti for $899...
@@OWNORDISOWN Thanks for the reply. Not sure about the chassis, it's the dc-1062nm designation. I watched your hp pavilion 15 review(the i5 9300h GTX 1650) and decided to buy it ($1000 in Croatia) but then I noticed the Omen 15 ($1300) which comes with 2x8gb ram. So I'm undecided, to go for the cheaper one, or the better one. 🙂
Is there an option to switch the hard drive with an extended battery, for sure not only for this toooooo 🤑 expensive model but for omen laptops in general?
not worth it. It does not have switchable graphics (optimus). The integrated intel graphics are permanently deactivated. It is muxless. you would be getting at most another half hour. Battery lasts 2 hours at most with light use.
I was looking at some gaming laptops including the Helios 300 and I haven't chosen one yet but my top 3 choices we're Omen 15, Lenovo y740 and the Helios 300. I'm thinking of buying the Omen even though I'm sacrificing independent keyboard lighting. I wasn't feeling the Helios 300 due to its design (I've owned various ACER gaming laptops before) the thing about Predator is that you might get a powerful device but a really noisy one too, it really depends because I also use my laptop for studying and stuff. But if you're convinced on buying a Predator might as well push your budget to a Helios 500.
That's good to know. Thanks for sharing. One thing to note though, they told me that my 2080 doesn't have Gsync either. I have that in writing too... Hopefully people with the 2060 will let us know for sure.
@@OWNORDISOWN I'm glad to help. I planned to buy Rtx2060 but now I will wait. If someone with rtx 2060 confirms it doesn't have Gsync, I will skip both Rtx2060 and Rtx2070 for the Rtx2080.
See this is what turned me off, ordering from the HPstore is a lottery. Shame they have a truly great product but the sales process is awful as you don't know what you are buying, is it G-Sync is it Max-Q, does it have liquid metal? Take note HP please.
Hello, I bought the exact same model 2 days ago & in the first half hour of it's life the power adapter became hot and the laptop just died. There was a smell of burned plastic coming out of the left side ports... Shipped it back to the store for diagnostics & eagerly waiting for the results.... So far this is a bad experience :(
Would you recommend still buying one of these in 2021? I'm currently in the market for a gaming laptop and this seems to tick all my boxes. Just worried that the GPU might not be as future proof as I would like.
I have this model with the i7 10750h and 1660 ti. I purchased it in May 2021 and I've played Red Dead Redemption 2 at 90% ultra settings at 1080p. Wonderful experience playing the game. Great purchase!
I've seen it happen. Its OK, Nvidia has it so it throttles at 87 degrees. Undervolting the CPU will help lower the GPU a bit or you can undervolt the GPU using the MSI voltage curve editor.
Sure it’s good...both the performance and the design but why do they change the hitch design🤔🤔it was good already the design from the previous hp omen 15
I think the battery life will kill you, even with the i7 and say the 206p GPU you will max out at 3 hours of use..it charges up pretty fast so if you can top it up at lunch or during break I think it won't last you throughout the day.
First of all, you're channel is great and your reviews are super precise and full of data, you're great man! About the laptop, I was looking to buy a hp omen 17 but that also seems to have the same fan issues, did you find some way to keep them quiet in your? If it is impossible would you rather advice for a asus rog strix iii rather? Should it be more quiet? Thabk you very much!
Thanks! I actually have the Omen 17 on my desk now, one with the 2060. Like the Omen 15 it seems to do a decent job cooling the laptop by adjusting the power. The Asus ROG Strix GL531GU, which has the same cooling as the Strix 3, certainly was a bit quieter. You should check out my GL531GU video, I was quite impressed.
Hi, I've just done more testing on the Omen 17 and it doesn't have the max fan option like I have on my 15". It is just like I had before the 15" got updated so it actually pushes upto a max of 90w (I saw 83w on the CPU in a combined GPU and CPU load) so it ran hot and quite loud. I'll have to see if they have an update otherwise I will have to undervolt and perhaps use XTU to lower power limit 1 manually.
@@OWNORDISOWN Thank you very much for your answer! Yeah I have watched your asus gl531 vid and I was nicely impressed with the cooling and noise from it. However, for the same price of the asus g731, in my area the omen 17 comes with somewhat a better panel, better WI fi and thunderbolt 3. It would be of course the better choice, but if fans are out of control even at idle, I guess I'd have to go with the Asus choice even if the lack of thunderbolt 3 is a pretty bad choice 😁
In amazon: i7-9850h,rtx2080 full size. In Hp usa store: same model has i9-9880h, but rtx 2080 max-q ( I think they are wrong ) because same model in Hp uk store have rtx 2080 (max p).. Oh my god.. what is going on Hp I canceled my order now. waiting for some one has 17t, i9-9880h, rtx2080 and confirms it has full gpu with Gsync
Yeah, they confuse the hell out of everyone. People have said its the max P one. It certainly makes no sense selling both the 2070 Max P and 2080 MQ as they run the same.
Like I said in my video, the plastic covers on the hinges can pop off. One of mine did but it presses down OK. It is just the cover, not the hinge itself
Nice man you go straight to the point ... i have a question sir , my new hp omen Rtx 2060 will arrive in 4 days and since i really dont know much about computers and i just want to play in normal-good quality but not overheating or sofocating to much the laptop... in simple words which setting would you recommend me (or upgrade if it required) ..in simple words
I dont know if im making myself clear ... basically i want to know when my computer arrives i asume it comes all settings deafualt , ibwant to know what to fix in order to improve in matters of quality play without overheating or making it run slow
I have the GTX 1650 one to review. I don't know if the higher GPU models have gsync or not, mine doesn't which means it gets better battery life of 5 hrs 15 mins vs 2.5 hrs. Its footprint is a bit smaller nad its lighter. Not as solid feeling but still good. I like them both to be honest.
@@OWNORDISOWN I like the design of the HP 15t-ek000 a lot better but from what im seeing the dh-100 has better specs?? I'm not much of a tech guy so I dont know which is better at all if im being honest, I just want a laptop that I can use mainly for schoolwork and occasionally gaming. I want the laptop to be able to run triple a titles without much problem. Which of the two models best suits my listed needs in your opinion?
I am using the 2018 HP Omen 15 with 1060 and I don't have the Max fan option in the command centre. Is this normal for the laptop I have or does command centre need an update?
Yes, it's in 4 zones and you can chose what ever colour you want. It's a great laptop, I use it as my daily driver. If you haven't done so already perhaps you can consider subscribing if you find my videos useful 👍
What's the difference between this one and the one with ports in the back? I am considering HP Omen 15, Dell G7 17, Legion Y540. Which ones better with i7 9750H RTX 2060? Price not a problem. I found deals with almost same prices. I want it to last long! Please reply
Well, the new 15t is thinner and has fan control, well- max fan option anyway. They also did a good job with the PL1 watts so it doesnt get too hot. It's been a year or so since I looked at the previous Omen 15 so dont know if any BIOS updates have helped. Check out my review on the Y540. Not my favorite to be honest. It does get grubby quite fast and unless you use quiet mode it runs very hot. Quiet mode works well in games but not fast in CPU work, so I show a performance tweak that helps it and is useful on other systems too. I really do like my 15t, I wish the battery life was better but that's about it.
Hello Steve, which do you think is better, OMEN 15t 2080 max q 240hz panel or Lenovo Y740 2080 max q 500 nits panel? Thermal performance, fan noise and longevity are top priorities from my perspective. BTW does HP have a battery conservation mode like Lenovo to stop charging when battery reaches 60%(or 80%, I can't remember the source clearly) for better life span of lithium-ion battery?
Hi Charles. I am about to film by Y740 500 nit video. It has a better colour gamut over the 300 bit (99% sRGB v 93%) , is bright at just over 400 nits. It's better for photo accurate work and for HDR video content but it cant do local dimming so the contrast is just the same . I found that for games that support HDR you could see more details but it was generally darker and for games that are dark anyway this could be problematic. For games that dont support HDR they get over exposed . You can play around in Windows to find a brightness setti g that suits it best but for me, having it in gaming is probably more a hassle than its worth. You may have to disable it each time you play a non HDR game. The Omen 15t has an option in the BIOS called Adaptive Battery Optimizer that protects battery longevity but it still charges to 100% so I have no clue how it does it or even if it is working, lol.
@@OWNORDISOWN Thx! I just purchased y740 2080 max q from Amazon.de with 300 euros off. 2200 euro is still more expensive than units sold in US but at least my purchase is well covered by their return policy and I have two-year warranty by default. I'm a bit curious of your explanation on how its HDR works. If HDR400 doesn't support local dimming, how on earth is it gonna give users an overall more vivid visual experience?
@@Char1es4k great stuff 👍 it merely changes the backlight as a whole unit so the whole screen adjusts in brightness. This is separate to the main screen brightness. Windows has a slider in its settings that adjusts the brightness vs SDR.
@@OWNORDISOWN That sounds quite unexceptional as an advertised function. I'll have to wait and see once the package arrives. Thx again! Speaking of lenovo laptops, they announced a new model called Legion Y9000X in China today. That's an ultrabook version of Y740. Surprisingly they've put H-series CPUs in it instead of U/Y-series CPUs. No dGPU tho. 4 fans and vapor champer cooling is quite an impressive configuration. Docking it with Razer Core should have simliar performance to gaming laptops that you've tested in this channel. Not sure if it's exclusively sold in China. To me it feels like the right direction of ultrabook development. Definitely worth checking it out if you ever have a chance to get one :D
I'm trying to decide between the OMEN 15 & OMEN 17 - I've heard a few times now that the OMEN 15 panel is brighter and shows better colours - but, is it really that noticeable?
Thanks Patrick, glad you liked it! I would have to say the Omen 15t. Granted my model has poor battery life because of the Gsync but the 2060 and 1660Ti models use hybrid graphics so you will still get 5 to 6 hours on those. HP does a better job of managing the power to the CPU so its quite well balanced. I really like my unit.
@OWNorDisown could you request Hp for giving max fan speed option in all Omen gaming models....I bought mine on May 2019 and the hardware is not that old...it consists of rtx2070 max-q and i7-8750h
I can pass on the info. The 9th gen models have it so I am hoping that they will continue. I don't know whey they don't allow the 8th gen ones to do it though, I can ask.
Hey steve , i'm using thin device from 1 month till now everything is perfect , except the battery i found the Full Charge Capacity become : 5702 mAh (95%) in just one month , while the Design Capacity: 5974 mAh , do you have the same decreasing rate ?
with laptop is temp cooller and have option to change speed fans and turn off fans when webrowsing/ watching movies ? Which 6 core 16gb and MIN 1660TI can do that ?
The Aero 15 comes to mind. Also the Triton 500 fans do not spin up at all at idle. Mine is the 8750h and 2080 MQ and its totally silent, even with your ear against the air intakes.

@@OWNORDISOWN can confirm. i got the i7 8750h 2070 mq variant and the screen has g-sync support. hell, even its predecessor (i7 8750h gtx 1070) got g sync well.
Well, I have put an i9 9900k in my Clevo and clocked it at 4.7 Ghz and in my editing software it is 17% faster than this i9 9880h, that's not a huge difference so I think for the price difference my Omen 15t makes sense, especially when you consider how more portable it is.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but there's a 15 and a 17, is the 15 newer than the 17?? Or are they both new just different versions or something? I want to get one and I want the newest.
They refreshed both the 15 and 17". They just called them "new Omen 15" etc. I am working on the 17" now. Here is my first look th-cam.com/video/DZFCGKnGbJs/w-d-xo.html In Default mode it copes well and would be my out of the box setting. Performance mode needs tweaking which I have done and now that works well.
Do you happen to have the specific model number from the box? Did you buy it direct from HP? Trying to get one w/ 2080 max-Q + Thunderbolt. But the custom build page for the new 15t on HP's site only comes with USB-C, not thunderbolt. There appears to be an even newer version - 15-dh001nr - that has thunderbolt, but with a 2060, and is not customizable to a 2080.
Sorry for the delay, I was in the process of getting set up with HP as they are going to start sending me review units which is awesome ! They now have me on an affiliates program , commissions of which help me fund my channel. If you go to their store here: tidd.ly/f7e0ef88 click on customize and chose the 2080 MQ/ i9 9880h you will have my model - I have the 144 hz panel but you can chose what panel suits you best :) Good luck !
Thanks for the reply. The problem with that model is the detailed spec shows "1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (10 Gb/s signaling rate)" and specifically does not mention Thunderbolt. And the side photo shows only the USB logo, whereas your has the Thunderbolt logo. On other models with Thunderbolt, that is called out in the spec. As far as I can tell, your exact model is not configurable on the HP site. Thus I was wondering if you could share where yours purchased, and/or if you have a specific model number. I've taken it up with the HP sales reps and their suggestion is to order the Omen X 2S (which does offer 2080 max-Q w/Thunderbolt) - but I don't want the dual screen or that keyboard layout.
@@austinpike2129 I assure you, that is how I ordered mine. Their sales team have no clue, they told me that to get Gsync I had to order an $870 17" Omen from last year...seriously, they have no idea. My model number is 15t-dh000
Ok, thanks for the confirmation. Very frustrating to get good info out of HP and their lineup is a mess. There is also a 17" w/"full" 2080 available on Amazon, but all the 17"s on the HP site have 2080 Max-Q.
@@austinpike2129 I think that is a mistake on HPs website, I have had people comment that they bought it from HP direct and it is max P.. I now have a contact in their marketing department is there a particular model you would like me to ask him on?
During browsing the HP website, I found there are two models for HP Omen 15t Named - New Omen 15t and Omen 15t. Could you please compare those two with same specifications and suggest which would be better?
I hooked up the eGPU via the thunderbolt 3 port again and whilst it worked it again deleted the 2080 MQ video driver. This time it wouldn't accept my Microsoft password so I have had to reset it. Just a word of caution. It was the Razer Core i was using.
@Roberto Cabrera I tried twice and both times it screwed up the drivers. The second time I had to reset the PC.

There is a plastic cover over each hinge that snaps on , much the same way as the back cover snaps in place. One of mine had partly come off. I snapped it back in place and it is still in place. I thought I would mention it as a possible weakness. The hinge still works fine without the cover.

Nice improvement over the last generation! Thanks for the review!
I agree! Thanks for watching 😀
totally nice improvement, they cut the CPU power limit by half instead of fixing thermals

What is better Omen 15t vs Predator Helios 300, Omen 15t vs Lenovo Legion Y540?
🤔
I'd take the Helios or the Y540 with 1660ti graphics card. Omen looks 🤮. Lol
Thristan Selma but “Predator” laptop... big ass “predator” written on top... that is just...ouch.

Hi please tell me how did u go to bios i canot Controll my fans in my Laptop and its so laud plesse tell me thank u alot

Arūnas Jonas Kastėnas You can still buy Lenovo Y540, you have basically whole package there, nice gaming performance and when you need to take it somewhere, enable hybrid mode, reboot and it will last those 5-6 hours on battery.

@@OWNORDISOWN Please read my comment below. You can have more than 45w in new command center just 5 or so minutes and then stuck at 45w and default profile or even silent. Try previous version and in performance mode you get more than 45w if temps are ok. Does Omen button works? Mine not.

At the 5 second mark in the video, what mini itx case is that next to the laptop? Or is that a whole pre built system you bought? Thanks!
Its the Aorus Gaming Box. A thunderbolt eGPU :)
Is the screen strong on this one? It looks like it would snap off easily?

Note though, HP pushes more watts to the CPU in performance mode on the 17" than on the 15", hence why I use default mode on that. Default mode on the 17" is more like performance mode on the 15t.

I've seen it happen. Its OK, Nvidia has it so it throttles at 87 degrees. Undervolting the CPU will help lower the GPU a bit or you can undervolt the GPU using the MSI voltage curve editor.

Yes, you need to get the 2070 MQ or 2080MQ. I mention this has Gsync in my video
Could you still use it as an everyday laptop if u were a student?

I dont know if im making myself clear ... basically i want to know when my computer arrives i asume it comes all settings deafualt , ibwant to know what to fix in order to improve in matters of quality play without overheating or making it run slow
@@2finger-Carmine I recommend sticking with the default performance profile in the command center software. If you have any issues just let me know 👍
@@OWNORDISOWN ok thank you for the fast response....i will let you know if i have any issue
Stephen, would you recommend this laptop over the HP 15t-ek000?
What's the name of the program where you get info like temperature, memory , watts from the system?
MSI afterburner
I am using the 2018 HP Omen 15 with 1060 and I don't have the Max fan option in the command centre. Is this normal for the laptop I have or does command centre need an update?
As far as I am aware it's not compatible with your model..
I have a question for the RGB can you customize it to be one full color?
Yes, it's in 4 zones and you can chose what ever colour you want. It's a great laptop, I use it as my daily driver. If you haven't done so already perhaps you can consider subscribing if you find my videos useful 👍
OWNorDisown Thank you for the reply! and will do👍🏾
What's the difference between this one and the one with ports in the back?
@@OWNORDISOWN what about Dell?
Is there any update with the Hp Omen x 17? I would like to see one with Rtx
I have to wait a few days before I can pick some laptops to review. I made a post in the community tab for people to put in their requests.
Only when comparing side by side. The good thing about the 17" is that you can get a 2070 Max P and 2080 Max P GPU so more performance.
Hi mate, great review as always, quick question - Between the HP Omen 15t and the G7 you reviewed which one do you prefer?(Thanks)
OWNorDisown thanks appreciate the reply.
@@OWNORDISOWN Thank you so much...Appreciate it
Hey steve , i'm using thin device from 1 month till now everything is perfect , except the battery i found the Full Charge Capacity become : 5702 mAh (95%) in just one month , while the Design Capacity: 5974 mAh ,
do you have the same decreasing rate ?
hey bro , you helped me many times with ur valued info , can u advice for this .. ?!
I have owned i7 , 2070 & I found this unstoppable 🥰
Just one problem is when you want to travel with it .
I actually bought a car charger that converts DC to AC, it's the size of a pack of cards and outputs 150w continuous power...
How does your pc performs over other 2070 laptops? I haven’t seen a lot of videos talking about the 2070 model.
with laptop is temp cooller and have option to change speed fans and turn off fans when webrowsing/ watching movies ?
Which 6 core 16gb and MIN 1660TI can do that ?
The Aero 15 comes to mind. Also the Triton 500 fans do not spin up at all at idle. Mine is the 8750h and 2080 MQ and its totally silent, even with your ear against the air intakes.
I was looking forward this review, you made it even better in 0:08 with pics of my hometown Český Krumlov :))
Wow, what a coincidence! Your town must be lovely 😀
@@OWNORDISOWN can you compare the 2019 model vs 2018
@@Maxoelgoat probably not, no doubt the 2020 model will be out soon and that would make a better comparison
@@OWNORDISOWN ok! Wen the 2020 model comes out will the 2019 model lower in price? And if so should i get the 2018 model or 2019? Thanks!!
@@Maxoelgoat they should both drop in price, the 2019 one is better. It cools better and has a max fan option.
HP have a sale on now 10% off with code 10GAMERSPRING
the customized omen 15t does not support G-sync. I just got the 2060 version with the 144hz display and G-sync is unavailable.
Is your laptop the dh0105tx ?
I heard that the 2070 MQ and above supports Gsync
@@OWNORDISOWN can confirm. i got the i7 8750h 2070 mq variant and the screen has g-sync support. hell, even its predecessor (i7 8750h gtx 1070) got g sync well.
which is better omen 15t and alienware 51m? kinda dont understand why the price is almost $2000 lower
Here is my first look
th-cam.com/video/DZFCGKnGbJs/w-d-xo.html
In Default mode it copes well and would be my out of the box setting. Performance mode needs tweaking which I have done and now that works well.

Ahhh I understand, thank you for replying to me. 😊
@@Queen-ut1dy you are welcome 👍
Does it have Bluetooth and if so, does it work properly? I heard that for some, the bluetooth wouldn't work
Yes, it works fine
During browsing the HP website, I found there are two models for HP Omen 15t
Named - New Omen 15t and Omen 15t. Could you please compare those two with same specifications and suggest which would be better?
I think the plan is for HP to send me the one with 2 screens and the 17t. I did a poll and that is what people wanted to see...
The hinges that connect the screen to the body look weak and could snap. That is too much of a risk for me for the price of this piece of kit.
this looks like the hp pavilion gaming that is currently on my lap i look at the video and am like this looks just like my laptop
