      I preferr Desktop Pc instead of laptops because ultimate gaming experience is in bigger screen. Not any laptop screen. Yes laptops r portable but the best experience u can feel in the desktop PC .

      I do have to think about the budget gaming laptop options though, especially with power cuts abound...so I'm in camp desktop, but that position is shifting.

    I bought my 8th gen HP-Omen 17-an this January and it's been an amazing gaming experience year. Still at the top of his performance, starting up in less than 15 sec, amazing (adjustable) graphics for every type of game, amazing key board > cool with the different types of lights and amazing feel on touch. But then the sound.... omfg Bang & Olufsen really out did themselves on this one. Almost sounds like there's a incorperated subwoofer. All and all, i'm still amazed and satisfied like day one. I recommend this to everyone, take this from a proud and satisfied HP-omen user xD take care y'all!!! Peace!!!

For the rest of my experience i have nothing else to add as neg. Playing without game sound or music in the background is sad as fuck anyways. So that should also be another factor to consider. this laptop is great. I own the version with G-SYNC and 2070 and no complains what so ever. It is dead silent when normal computing and, on balanced mode, is the most silent machine I have ever encountered (had asus msi and acer and all of them are under this one).
    Temps: with balanced which keeps noise levels down and at the same time fan speed, you get a max of 75 degrees on cpu and rarely spikes to 86 degrees for 2-3 seconds then drops instantly back to 76 aprox. GPU sits well on temps on this cooling solution. On max cooling there is some noise, not too disturbing but man...temps are incredible...while gaming you get 65 degrees on cpu and gpu about 60. FPS very good and stable, display looks amazing and not much light bleed to consider. This laptop is the best you can get at this price (1700 euros).

    I got this laptop a week ago the rtx 2070 and i7 ninth gen. It's an absolute monster but the battery life isn't the best in fact when you put too much pressure on it you will lose 4 to 6 of battery even while plugged in playing at full performance of the laptop. It's also very noisy but for the experience and price it is definitely worth it.

    I am using an omen 15 with i7 8750h and 2070 max q and im pretty satisfied by it... it came with a single stick of 16 gb ram which i think was good as i just had to purchase 1 extra 16gb ram stick and plug that in.... Initially the cpu temps touched 93 to 94 when playing games like battlefield 5 and gpu was near 85.... I undervolted the cpu by -0.125 and bought a deepcool x6 fan which really got my cpu temps down to 80 and gpu to around 78 to 83 depending on which game i play...

    Tom, can you make a video on gaming on a 4K laptop at 1080p using NVidia drivers new integer scaling? Specifically how it compares to a 1080p panel (high refresh rate excluded) in term of image quality and performance

    • @adridell
      @adridell 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Image quality is a very personal perception, it really depends on the panel, the distance to your eyes and your ability to notice the improvements, laptop panels are too small to be able to notice much difference between the individual pixels, thats what apple for example call retina, it means what is the amount of pixels necesary at a certain distance to see a perfect image without seeing any individual pixel borders. 4k panels on laptops are also extremely demanding, you can easily estimate between 2-3h less of battery life and also more expensive. Other than that, gaming on 4k laptops even with a full rtx2080 is not gonna run most games at 60fps at high or ultra, so what you will gain in resolution you will lose in rendering quality, at the end of the day its a trade of, you cannot have both improvements in 2019. There are not many reasons to buy a 4k panel on a laptop, specially for 13 and 15 inch ones...unless you pick an oled 4k hdr panel for video content consumption.

    I have an OMEN by HP 17-cb0056tx, Awesome machine with only a 1660ti GPU, but I play war zone and various other high end games at max video settings and get an average of 80FPS dropping to around 60 min with bigger games like SWTOR and other mmo's running at the max 144 FPS. Also found Win 10 Ultimate performance mode and turned that on and a few regedit tweeks make this thing amazingly quick and responsive. Only down side is the 1TB HDD it came with and not an SSD, but its a storage drive, the main drive is Nvme and boots in under 5 secs, also gets a bit hot, CPUs hitting mid 90's in some games, got a cooling pad and side vacuum fan, which work, down to 80's now. @@OUROMONO A somewhat misleading statement. While it is not targeted at gaming, and generally targeted at more "commercial" uses (such as CAD, analytics, visualisation etc) there is no reason you cannot use them for gaming. I have a Dell precision 5530 workstation for work with a Quadro P2000, and it performs about as good as a 1050ti in games. I pretty much never dip below 60fps in Doom (and my screen is only a 60Hz screen so it really doesn't matter if I don't go higher). Now I know this is not the best for gaming, but you would argue that a 1050ti IS for gaming (maybe budget orientated gaming), and mine performs pretty much the same. the P6000 isn't a card I would say is targeted for gaming, but can it be used for gaming. Yeah, of course it can. And with a tonne of CUDA cores and reasonable clock speeds it will perform really, really well. In most titles it will hold its own at 4K (not super high frame rates, but most titles over 60fps if not on the highest settings).

    So I've had the laptop for a few days now and I'm very impressed with the performance. I've been playing control for hours with very high settings and the thermals are amazing! The CPU reached maximum 82c° and the GPU 70c°... Just wow!
    Update: don't install the latest windows update (24/01/2020)!
    It will completely erase the nvidia drivers (won't even show in device manager) and nvidia drivers won't recognize the graphics card... I had to do a full system restore after many solutions failed...

    • @nightstriker3994
      @nightstriker3994 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I had the windows update problem too, had to go into Device Manager and delete the fake drivers. Had the RTX 2070 17' for nearly a month already and it's amazing!

      Yeah it's pretty impressive... As for Windows update, I tried deleting the drivers first but it didn't work, it kept reinstalling them... And when I try to install the Nvidia drivers it doesn't detect the card... And in the BIOS it shows the card is working normally... So I did a system restore and it worked... I've disabled updates for the time being... Maybe Microsoft will fix the problem soon, I don't know...for now the laptop is running perfectly fine...

    I have this exact model with 2070RTX. I bought this as a desktop replacement and am happy. No more desktop for me. Note...this laptop has a Thunderbolt 3 out. I bought a CalDigit TS3 dock and everything runs through that......Dell S2716dg monitor (Thunderbolt 3 out to DP, SteelSeries Wireless Pro Head Phones, Logitech G700 wireless mouse, Xbox 360 wireless controller. All runs flawless. I get 1440P gaming at over 60fps...a mix of medium to Ultra settings in games. I will stick with this for at least 12 to 18months and move on at that point. I mostly use as a desktop replacement but the portability is fantastic when I want to take it on the road. I paid $1629.00 US.....fantastic Bang for the Buck!!!!!
