Tezyify packet loss just indicates how much data ur losing from the host, if u have any you will tend to have an almost/unplayable experience. Anything above like 5% persistent is pretty difficult to play for me. The best way to fix this is a wired connection and port forwarding.
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 your problem could then be the modem or router or isp. Might look into a better speed tier or see if you're hitting data limits. Port forwarding is a good start.
Sometimes certain games do get taken out of your library. If that happens to you, just go to settings and press restore licenses. When I rebuilt the database on my PS4 it removed like 20 games from my library, but once I restore licenses they all came back. I don’t remember him telling this info so hopefully it helps someone :)

For the people who are concerned about rebuilding the database with a external hard drive, no nothing will happen with it still connected so you will be okay. I can say this since I did rebuild the database with my external hard drive.
I have done it with the external hard drive connected and not connected and both times it worked I would recommend doing it while it is connected though as the PS4 forgets all the games on the hard drive when you do it when it’s not connected; once I reconnected the hard drive after the rebuild I had to wait for it to be synced up but the Inconvenience was the only issue
@@anas-su1tb well you can use your pc to help get your clips or if you have it on cloud server you can go online and recover it from there will take about 2 to 5minutes it happened to me before luckily I had my online storage backed up
It makes a huge difference especially for someone like me with a base ps4 that’s 7 years old. I do it about once a month now. Only problem I’ve encountered is games not showing up on my main screen, they’re still downloaded but the icon just is hiding in the library.
As part of the process, it does what on a Windows pc would be 'registry optimization' and any custom settings get deleted (including the one that increases the number of games/apps displayed on the main menu) and removes ALL files not necessary for the system or game functionality: wallpapers; themes; update files that might have been curtupted; and any personal files like pics and mp3s get purged... All system files, system updates, save files, and game updates that are now part of the base install get preserved
Defragging an SSD does nothing since it's not a physical drive, HDD (PC USERS CALL BOTH SSD AND HDD "HARD DRIVES") use real physical data collection (the same as a DVD but smaller and made of glass.or metal most of the time. If you had a hard drive, not a sad (SOLID STATE DRIVE) and notice fps lag or things not rendering fully, then rebuilding the data base should help, its quite literally in theory just "defragging" (organizing the data on the hard drive to be closer together to read faster then before while getting rid of corrupt or useless data)
@@146gods you open your laptop, find the hard drive, and get it dismantled. If it's a disk, it's a hard drive. If it's a bunch of black squares, it's an SSD.
I emailed Sony regarding external HDD. They recommended I disconnect it before entering Safe Mode as the low power output could corrupt data. I don't know to what extent this is true but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
One thing I would like to mention which I absolutely wasn't aware of before doing this.. I'm having right about 129 games on my Ps4 Pro right now and when I did the rebuild database thing some of my folders disappeared completely while others were there but no games inside of the folders themselves... Imagine having to place 130 games back into their original folders.. 🤦🏻♂️🤦♀️🤦♂️ I'm using a 4TB Seagate it's made specifically to give external storage for the Ps4 so it works very well.. Only thing I personally would absolutely recommend is disconnecting your external hard drive before doing the rebuild database if you like having many games at once in order all in their folders.. Unless you want to play the remember where it was before little game. 😆🤣😁😁😁 Haven't noticed any other negative impacts except this thankfully. Thanks for the tip John! 👍👍

FYI. Doing a database rebuild will delete your custom folders. Also, I had around 30 to 50% of my patches deleted. I'm also using an external HDD. The patches deleted were from games both on external and internal HDDs. It's not a big deal, but I did have to spend some time creating new custom folders and downloading patches again.
Both answers to the SSD question are right, it can shorten the life span (it's not like giving it cancer, more like giving it a drinking problem) but it also does increase performance. SsD are like all other hard drives in the sense that they don't last forever, so in my experience getting better performance is always the way to go. What's sad is that I never knew about the database option on the ps4 until I watched your video..I instantly did it and my ps4 runs like new!
You never want to rebuild data base on a SSD since there is no moving parts. It's only beneficial on a HDD that have mechanical moving disk. This is pretty much the same as defragging a regular hard drive on a computer.
I think it’s ok to do once you experience bad performance. But if possible and you have the time: Back up saves on USB-memory, install SSD in PC and delete and do trim on it.Adding some writes to the SSD again shouldn’t be too bad, but trim can make it perform better. My cheap Samsung QVO 1TB still performs well for all PS4 games on PS5 externally. Had it previously in a PS4 Pro. I have not yet done any Trim but rebuilt database after it lost connection after a power outtage and it works as usual.
I have a hybrid hard drive and a external hdd, rebuild database helps both with no side effects. Except the folder problem mentioned in the video. 1 tb in each used, longest it took with everything was ten minutes from start to finish. Hope it helps someone.
You should be perfectly fine doing this if you have and external hdd connected. I've had to do it multiple times before when required to do so after the usb cable for the external hdd got knocked by accident. Never had an issue from doing so.

I would'nt rebuild the database on an SSD, as after doing it got a while as a routine, I noticed performance issues. It was doing more harm then good. My best advice on something similar to this would be backing up your files via PS plus and then factory reset it if I case you have are having bad performance issues.

If you buy a usb for the PS4 pro can you use the usb to get the clips from ur capture gallery into the usb and will that make it better quality then just posting the video on twitter or TH-cam?
I only rebuild if I have to because putting around 700+ games back into their folders is very tedious. I believe the reason why some folders are deleted are because those folders are from games that you have on a external hard drive. I've tested it by three times having to do the rebuild the data base and twice having to make my "BOARD AND CARD GAMES" folder and this last time I transferred one of the Mahjong games onto the consoles hard drive because it was small enough and when I recently had to do do the rebuild that Mahjong game and the folder was still there.
Do not defragment an SSD, basically what you're doing when you do a database rebuild, is moving all of the files on the hard drive to be quicker for the PS4 to access, SSD's do not have a physical platter spinning in the drive, so you can't move the files around to make them easier to access. Basically, it just moves a bunch of files around for no reason, taking up write cycles on the SSD.
After i rebuilded my database all my Destiny 2 and Modern Warfare Patches were gone. Base game was still there. Bur it payed off cause i notice that i got better performance after rebuildung.

I have been experiencing really high packet loss in warzone on PS4 and I have port forwarded specifically for warzone which is provided by activision as well as using a Cat 6 ethernet cable and reducing MTU to the sweet spot following your video. I have an ISP router and a fiber optic internet. My DNS settings are optimized using namebench to get the fastest DNS servers. Download speed of my internet package is 100Mbps and upload is 20Mbps. I even bought a gaming router: ASUS RT-86U to help with this but it did not work as my main router or in access point mode. At this point i have lost all hope and all i want is to play this damn warzone game mode without experiencing packet loss
I have done it and now I have to download some updates of my games, that I have as discs at home. As long as I saw it right, my progress is the same as before, but i think thats clear because of PS Plus. I hope the other accounts on the console have their progress too, although they have no PS Plus
I have an external HD, no problems. It doesn’t touch the external, as far as I can tell. I actually want to find someway to do this to the external.....I’m no computer guy myself, and don’t even know if it’s needed, but there’s a lot of data on there. Seems like it would be a good idea to clean that puppy up.
I had to do this as I couldn't connect to the PS store. Only downside was that once down my PS4 wanted to download every update for every game so I had to turn off auto update.
I keep all my games and applications in folders so when I did this I was frustrated when the folders disappeared especially when I have a lot of games and had them in a certain order but thanks for the great tips 👍
I feel your pain. My folders remain because I have at least one game in each folder from my system's hard drive but when all the games are out of their folder's it takes a while to sort through 700+ games especially when the sorted games in the folders don't drop to the bottom and you're going through each game looking for specific games for those specific folders. I'm starting to think I should just alphabetize the folders for quicker sorting instead of by genre.
Hey, I think I found a solution on how to remove input delay compleatly on a console, want to see more testning done to see how much less it is. It's when you have a elgato (in My case hd60s) and lower all settings u can while keeping 720p and 60fps, testing this in fortnite and it almost feels like playing on a computer. I recommend doing this at least once a month as this basically is the same as you defeating your hard drive on your PC. I refreshing the system cache as well.
It is safe to rebuild the database when using a external hard drive it will not delete any games I know this because I’ve tested this myself and it’s safe
Defragment is only rearranging files to where they belong. It should not hurt anything. Yes external hard drives are fine. But not when doing that data thing you are talking about.
I Rebuild it Yesterday Because in Heavy Rain it Flickered like Crazy and FPS was low and Lag. So i looked up what do i do and it said that i should Turn off and on (not Rest mode) my PS4 but for a Limited time. But it Also said to Rebuild Database so i did it and it took 3 Minutes. Now its Better.
I was thinking of doing it but once I heard some patches on games are deleted, I'm not, because I don't have home Internet and just to download an update using my phones Hotspot would take a week. Can't even play campaign mode on COD WW 2 because is a 32gb update. I did some updates to my games in a friend's house that live too far from me.
when you use external HDD I dont think they are affected by rebuilding database at all, not even positivly, because when my ps4 finishes rebuilding my games from the external HDD doesn't show on the main menu, it's like it disconnected from my ps4 then reconnected after the process
I did this a few weeks ago after watching your other video and I lost multiple games and patches. I have been trying to remember games that I had purchased so I can redownload them again. The only saving grace is that there ps store remembers my purchase shop I don't have to purchase them again. This has been a super frustrating experience and I have not seem any benefit from doing this.
Offtopic ... but i dont think you covered this specific issue in the past, and that is about Playstation Store slow load times and stuck issues. So this is nothing to do with general ISP bandwidth or game donwload speeds, but load/stuck problems in the Store itself. Rebuild DB is just a temporary relief, not a permanent solution, Im not sure about the suggested proxy approach either (few forum posts recommend this). What would be your input here ... I assume you are familiar with this specific Store issue ?!
Unplug the power cord from the back of the PS4,Then remove the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait for 30 seconds, then plug power cord back into the wall outlet and then back into the PS4. MANUALLY start up PS4,then insert USB cord into controller and PS4 ,to sink the controller, remove cord from both devices....and BOOYA! Should be Fixed.
Its your HDMI cable, get one thats rated at 18gb/s or higher. I had this same issue, did the same safe mode features, none worked. Except using a high speed hdmi cable.

It screwed up my custom folders, but I was able to recover it after a while.

I have entered safe mode multiple times with an external drive plugged in, never had any issues. But I’m gonna start unplugging now.

Hey love the vid but I got a question I have a normal ps4 with one functional usb. I have an external portable hard drive like you might know it only works if you connect it directly to the PS4 but since I have one usb that works I can’t use my headset ( G935 Logitech ) I was wonder if there’s any extra portable usb that Will allow me to use my headset and my hard drive ?
Mr. Glasscock. Is the PS4 PRO really worth it? I heard the difference between the standard and pro are pretty slim. Because I do not care about graphics, resolution and frames per second, is this still worth getting? Or is the standard one suffice? I had a talk with someone who has a pro and they said it was not really worth it. Your thoughts John??

Hey John, I really need your assistance. I have been experiencing really high packet loss in warzone on PS4 and I have port forwarded specifically for warzone which is provided by activision as well as using a Cat 6 ethernet cable and reducing MTU to the sweet spot following your video. I have an ISP router and a fiber optic internet. My DNS settings are optimized using namebench to get the fastest DNS servers. Download speed of my internet package is 100Mbps and upload is 20Mbps. I even bought a gaming router: ASUS RT-86U to help with this but it did not work as my main router or in access point mode. At this point i have lost all hope and all i want is to play this damn warzone game mode without experiencing packet loss

I have done it and now I have to download some updates of my games, that I have as discs at home.
As long as I saw it right, my progress is the same as before, but i think thats clear because of PS Plus.
I hope the other accounts on the console have their progress too, although they have no PS Plus
I have an external HD, no problems. It doesn’t touch the external, as far as I can tell. I actually want to find someway to do this to the external.....I’m no computer guy myself, and don’t even know if it’s needed, but there’s a lot of data on there. Seems like it would be a good idea to clean that puppy up.
I had to do this as I couldn't connect to the PS store. Only downside was that once down my PS4 wanted to download every update for every game so I had to turn off auto update.

I keep all my games and applications in folders so when I did this I was frustrated when the folders disappeared especially when I have a lot of games and had them in a certain order but thanks for the great tips 👍
I feel your pain. My folders remain because I have at least one game in each folder from my system's hard drive but when all the games are out of their folder's it takes a while to sort through 700+ games especially when the sorted games in the folders don't drop to the bottom and you're going through each game looking for specific games for those specific folders. I'm starting to think I should just alphabetize the folders for quicker sorting instead of by genre.
Hey, I think I found a solution on how to remove input delay compleatly on a console, want to see more testning done to see how much less it is.
It's when you have a elgato (in My case hd60s) and lower all settings u can while keeping 720p and 60fps, testing this in fortnite and it almost feels like playing on a computer. Can go Into more details if i can contact you somehow

Every time you update the ps4 it rebuilds database
Putting in an SSD was the best thing I have ever done to improve performance in my ps4 pro.
Folders are still there, but they are in your library instead of on the desktop.

I recommend doing this at least once a month as this basically is the same as you defeating your hard drive on your PC. I refreshing the system cache as well.

With doing this if you have Netflix or other Accounts app’s that you are using from a friend or yourself gotta re-sign in App to use it again.

It is safe to rebuild the database when using a external hard drive it will not delete any games I know this because I’ve tested this myself and it’s safe

NOTICE - all custom folders will be gone. So you will have to redo the folders again which is a pain if your sort your games into folders.
Defragment is only rearranging files to where they belong. It should not hurt anything. Yes external hard drives are fine. But not when doing that data thing you are talking about.

I Rebuild it Yesterday Because in Heavy Rain it Flickered like Crazy and FPS was low and Lag. So i looked up what do i do and it said that i should Turn off and on (not Rest mode) my PS4 but for a Limited time. But it Also said to Rebuild Database so i did it and it took 3 Minutes. Now its Better.
I was thinking of doing it but once I heard some patches on games are deleted, I'm not, because I don't have home Internet and just to download an update using my phones Hotspot would take a week. Can't even play campaign mode on COD WW 2 because is a 32gb update. I did some updates to my games in a friend's house that live too far from me.
I've done it from your last video and went wrong.. It deleted 3 of my games but didn't affect other games..I don't know why but that's what happened.

when you use external HDD I dont think they are affected by rebuilding database at all, not even positivly, because when my ps4 finishes rebuilding my games from the external HDD doesn't show on the main menu, it's like it disconnected from my ps4 then reconnected after the process

I did this a few weeks ago after watching your other video and I lost multiple games and patches. I have been trying to remember games that I had purchased so I can redownload them again. The only saving grace is that there ps store remembers my purchase shop I don't have to purchase them again. This has been a super frustrating experience and I have not seem any benefit from doing this.

Offtopic ... but i dont think you covered this specific issue in the past, and that is about Playstation Store slow load times and stuck issues. So this is nothing to do with general ISP bandwidth or game donwload speeds, but load/stuck problems in the Store itself. Rebuild DB is just a temporary relief, not a permanent solution, Im not sure about the suggested proxy approach either (few forum posts recommend this). What would be your input here ... I assume you are familiar with this specific Store issue ?!

Unplug the power cord from the back of the PS4,Then remove the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait for 30 seconds, then plug power cord back into the wall outlet and then back into the PS4. MANUALLY start up PS4,then insert USB cord into controller and PS4 ,to sink the controller, remove cord from both devices....and BOOYA! Should be Fixed.

Change your resolution setting... I put it on that YU setting and have no problem... I have a 4k Visio and PS4 pro with a external hard drive.
Its your HDMI cable, get one thats rated at 18gb/s or higher. I had this same issue, did the same safe mode features, none worked. Except using a high speed hdmi cable.
For a couple of days my PS4 has been acting up I’m getting massive frame drops on call of duty modern warfare fortnite basically every game I play is performing terribly in fortnite and modern warfare textures don’t load at all and I’ve rebuilt my database 6 times to no effect
