Bloodbourne was a lot harder because it uses an old engine as most FromSoftware games do (they just aren’t very good devs when you look at the whole picture). The game speed was tied to frame rate so if you ran the game at 60fps originally the game would double in speed, so the guy who made the patch actually had to put a lot of work into it to get it working. But with almost every other PS4 game its as easy as modying 2 lines of hex code.
For those asking: the Death Stranding bundle runs on 6.70 firmware, it's pricey but from games alone i have played i would've spent double the price of the PS4 pro

I've always wanted a ps4 and jailbreak it, but they're all still expensive. I managed to snatch one for 12$ that the user said it wasn't working. The issue was the powersupply connector on the motherboard was loose, so I got myself a fat 1tb last revision PS4 for really cheap. Old firmware that I've jailbroken too, really amazing console and I really enjoy it.
Nice tour over the possibilities here! Got myself a 7.55 to mess around with. Worth the journey to get under the hood and understand how it all works, but there is a significant hassle factor. I do my actual gaming on a current, unhacked PS4 because of ease of use. What XBOX Series S/X has done to enable developer access, thus allowing homebrew and emulation without hassles is brilliant and should set a new standard.

You mean the save game transfer or something else? Because I HIGHLY doubt that they'd patch the specific "exploit" with a manipulated PS4 save for the PS5. It's a very specific situation and they don't really have a financial reason to patch it, as long as it can't be used to Jailbreak the PS5. Nobody cares if you cheat yourself money in God of War, the only Game Developers I see having issues with such things are Ubisoft and EA, but even there it's not nearly relevant enough they'd care.

jailbroken ps5s are gonna be crazy good value. Built in ps4 backwards compatibility, SHOULD be powerful enough for ps3, definitely powerful enough for ps1, ps2, psp, vita, and more.
PS4 compatibility is default because that PS5 is technically the same AMD GCN technology as the PS4/Pro just smaller, faster and more efficient (RDNA 2). But, PS5s flash memory and storage system isn’t like your traditional hardware layout so I don’t see how anyone would justify trying to get Linux to run optimally, let alone gun games.
there was a cool program for the Xbox 360 on PC called Horizon that was also capable of editing saved game data then using it on the console just with a USB drive. It was such a great time

I remember jailbreaking my PS3 years ago. I literally did what you say not to do. I hosted modded lobbies, ruined the game for everyone else & I pirated games cause as a teenager I couldn’t afford it.
My PS3 is still sat on my drawers, it's a bit pointless now because of the GTA servers being shut down, but it's still cool to have. I used to love trolling on GTA

SOME INFO ABOUT 60FPS STUFF IN GAMES: I think we mostly all know how games work in abstract: it does some math about where your character is, how fast they're going, if they're colliding with anything, etc... and when it's all done calculating, it draws the resulting picture onto your screen. A hyper basic example could be that your character has a variable called "x" that simply defines their x coordinate, and then every frame the game runs "x = x + 1", so every frame your character's x coordinate will increase by 1. You might see the issue here now: if the game is 60fps, one second will move him 60 units, but 30fps will only move him 30 units. Essentially what this boils down to is that the speed the game runs at will... affect the speed the game runs at in the most literal sense that you probably don't want. What people mean when they say you have to take every line of code into account is that to fix this, you have to write "x = x + (1 * deltaTime)" for every time based calculation. Delta Time is the time between frames, so any equation that scales to it will give the same results for a given time frame. And that's not just for the x coordinate: that's for ANYTHING that moves or relies on any degree of timing. This is why a 60fps patch is impossible for many old emulated titles, we see their code as hex and have no genuine insight on the non-compiled code structure. Something as simple as adding health can be a real challenge with cheats and patches, let alone re-implementing ever piece of code in the game. Now here's why everyone saying that about PS4 titles don't have any clue what they're talking about! PS4 games are made with modern game engines. Unity force units all function the same based on frame rate, and I think Unreal engine even has much of it's timings tied to real-world units, not frames or pixels, and does the additional calculations itself. Even if a developer made their own engine for a game, I would be absolutely flabbergasted if they didn't take delta time into account. Not to mention the fact that *most* of these titles are available on PC, and I haven't seen a game run with a locked frame rate on PC in YEARS. The only reason that PS4 games lock at 30 is because that's what they've set the frame cap at. They test their games very thoroughly on the hardware they know it'll play on, so they know they can keep adding more to it if it's running consistently above 30. Then, once they've decided they balance that line closely enough without dipping below 30, they cap it and ship it. I'd imagine the reason they don't remove it with some games on PS4 pro or PS5 is because now they'd be aiming for that stable 60 instead, but for whatever reason they can't achieve it. There's also a different design philosophy on console - stability over performance. So we get situations where we could clearly increase performance on a game, but having some weird in between frame rate might cause slight frame timing issues, so they don't go for it, despite the fact that I don't think any PC gamer would willing cap their frames at 30 when they could unlock in the settings and get 40-50 variable frame rate. But, because of the risk of a consistent experience, they prefer you don't even have the option, which is why we're seeing 60fps patches that are only 2 lines of code. Thanks for reading :)
If you’ve actually coded before then you will know that the fps is typical just an environment variable. This variable is then re-used throughout the code base passed as a parameter most likely in your hypothetical coordinates algorithm. Hence why you’re only editing one line of code most of the time since it’s just an env variable.
That was a nice explanation. Dark souls tie the full game speed on the frame rate, so you need to run it at a limited framerate. Many console to PC ports don't function correctly at higher frame rates, for example, Dead Space, which runs on the first iteration of the frostbite engine, seems to calculate physics wrong at higher than 30fps (at more than 200fps you get a weird prop and ragdoll behavior). All in all the ones that should know if the game won't have any problems running at higher fps are the developers and the beta test team, it is true that modern games should be coded in a way that increasing the frame rate won't break anything, however, it should be noted that the game was probably tested at the frame rate in which you play on release so it might have a bug of some sort that only happens at higher frame rates (might be talking nonsense here but that's my guess). Although it seems stupid bloodborn doesn't have an option to 60fps on PS5.
This is actually more interesting than a PS5. While everyone wants a ps5 as far as I can feel it’s just a faster ps4 with a cooler controller. It’s still x86 and it still work mostly the same way. The online play becomes less of an issue as Sony shuts down game servers. Maybe someday someone will work out a some kind of private server setup. Or some small hosting company can convince Sony to let them take over the servers to maintain them. I would be willing to pay $15/mo to still be able to play old games online with friends and other people.

there is a fan mod for jailbroken ps4 where you can set the temperature of ps4 and not to go fan on jet engine
the only problem is the lower resolution (900p on a big screen dont look that good). But I'm guessing that's a result of the weak hardware.

SOME INFO ABOUT 60FPS STUFF IN GAMES:
I think we mostly all know how games work in abstract: it does some math about where your character is, how fast they're going, if they're colliding with anything, etc... and when it's all done calculating, it draws the resulting picture onto your screen. A hyper basic example could be that your character has a variable called "x" that simply defines their x coordinate, and then every frame the game runs "x = x + 1", so every frame your character's x coordinate will increase by 1. You might see the issue here now: if the game is 60fps, one second will move him 60 units, but 30fps will only move him 30 units. Essentially what this boils down to is that the speed the game runs at will... affect the speed the game runs at in the most literal sense that you probably don't want.
What people mean when they say you have to take every line of code into account is that to fix this, you have to write "x = x + (1 * deltaTime)" for every time based calculation. Delta Time is the time between frames, so any equation that scales to it will give the same results for a given time frame. And that's not just for the x coordinate: that's for ANYTHING that moves or relies on any degree of timing. This is why a 60fps patch is impossible for many old emulated titles, we see their code as hex and have no genuine insight on the non-compiled code structure. Something as simple as adding health can be a real challenge with cheats and patches, let alone re-implementing ever piece of code in the game.
Now here's why everyone saying that about PS4 titles don't have any clue what they're talking about! PS4 games are made with modern game engines. Unity force units all function the same based on frame rate, and I think Unreal engine even has much of it's timings tied to real-world units, not frames or pixels, and does the additional calculations itself. Even if a developer made their own engine for a game, I would be absolutely flabbergasted if they didn't take delta time into account. Not to mention the fact that *most* of these titles are available on PC, and I haven't seen a game run with a locked frame rate on PC in YEARS.
The only reason that PS4 games lock at 30 is because that's what they've set the frame cap at. They test their games very thoroughly on the hardware they know it'll play on, so they know they can keep adding more to it if it's running consistently above 30. Then, once they've decided they balance that line closely enough without dipping below 30, they cap it and ship it.
I'd imagine the reason they don't remove it with some games on PS4 pro or PS5 is because now they'd be aiming for that stable 60 instead, but for whatever reason they can't achieve it. There's also a different design philosophy on console - stability over performance. So we get situations where we could clearly increase performance on a game, but having some weird in between frame rate might cause slight frame timing issues, so they don't go for it, despite the fact that I don't think any PC gamer would willing cap their frames at 30 when they could unlock in the settings and get 40-50 variable frame rate. But, because of the risk of a consistent experience, they prefer you don't even have the option, which is why we're seeing 60fps patches that are only 2 lines of code.

If you’ve actually coded before then you will know that the fps is typical just an environment variable. This variable is then re-used throughout the code base passed as a parameter most likely in your hypothetical coordinates algorithm. Hence why you’re only editing one line of code most of the time since it’s just an env variable.
That was a nice explanation. Dark souls tie the full game speed on the frame rate, so you need to run it at a limited framerate. Many console to PC ports don't function correctly at higher frame rates, for example, Dead Space, which runs on the first iteration of the frostbite engine, seems to calculate physics wrong at higher than 30fps (at more than 200fps you get a weird prop and ragdoll behavior).
All in all the ones that should know if the game won't have any problems running at higher fps are the developers and the beta test team, it is true that modern games should be coded in a way that increasing the frame rate won't break anything, however, it should be noted that the game was probably tested at the frame rate in which you play on release so it might have a bug of some sort that only happens at higher frame rates (might be talking nonsense here but that's my guess). Although it seems stupid bloodborn doesn't have an option to 60fps on PS5.

This is actually more interesting than a PS5. While everyone wants a ps5 as far as I can feel it’s just a faster ps4 with a cooler controller. It’s still x86 and it still work mostly the same way. But this ps4 gives u a chance to understand how this console OS work and what’s really behind the scene. Thanks for making this video for us.

The online play becomes less of an issue as Sony shuts down game servers.
Maybe someday someone will work out a some kind of private server setup. Or some small hosting company can convince Sony to let them take over the servers to maintain them.
I would be willing to pay $15/mo to still be able to play old games online with friends and other people.

actually! there is a way to play online with other friends on a jail broken ps4 BUT you must have the exact same updated playstation with a vpn that matches each other. so for COD you guys could technically play through local LAN but it’s a complicated process
