That ain't cheap and 5 mil LIFETIME sales ain't gonna cut it. It's a very stupid and tired rhetoric that some people try to force as a fact when it really isn't. People can argue that it's "flawed" all they want, to me personally it's a flawless game and I love everything about it.
If you were a hard core fan of the series, you would understand the weight and emotions shown in this game. People don't care that snake is old. For people who grew up playing as this character and seeing age is an emotional gut punch. It breaks my heart to see him old which is why I care about the character and want to see his arch until the bitter end. You lost so many people at the 20 minute mark, dude. And yes, I will play this game day one at full price at 60 FPS.
I'd have preferred it if MGS4 started off with Snake being middle-aged and then you experienced his accelerating ageing as the game progressed. There's a disconnect going from the end of MGS2, where Snake is and looks like a 30-something year old, to the beginning of MGS4 where he looks about 70.
i was kind of agreeing with you until the end, there's no denying MGS4 is flawed, but let's be real MGS as a franchise is very flawed: 1. MGS1 is technically the third game in the series canonically since it follows up the MSX/NES games, which barely anyone played or even know about, yet the game is widely known as the first one in the series, instead of being called Metal gear 3 or something. 2. MGS2 bait and switch with raiden was received VERY poorly at the time, which made it one of the most infamous games in the series for a while. 3. MGS3 has some flaws itself and even retcons stuff from the lore. And finally there's MGS5, which could take an entire essay on it's own with the flaws it has both gameplay and *especially* storywise. Doesn't matter how flawed MGS4 is, people want to experience it since it's the last chapter of Solid Snake's story, if they like it or not depends on the individual.

I don't see how anyone can play the game, reach the final boss fight, and not think its one of the greatest games ever made. When Metal Gear Saga plays as they are fighting, my soul leaves my body. The only thing "bad" about this game is that framerate.

I think a lot of people don't really understand the story and why MGS4 is a masterpiece. So they echo the lemmings about why it's easy to hate on it. I see this with Twin Snakes hate too because "it's not like X" when in reality as a game on its own and making a fun fantasy version of that story line with MGS2 engine was actually a really cool thing to do. If you play it like it's raidens simulation or idea of the legend solid snake, then Twin Snakes is even more entertaining lol

Hardcore Metal Gear fans never liked anything that came before or after Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. I can't think of any game except that one that wasn't critized to death. Some of the complaints include: - Raiden is gay. - MGS3 had horrible controls and needed a 3D camera instead of top-down view. - Portable Ops had horrible controls and needed a top-down view instead of a 3D camera. - MGS4 had too many cutscenes. - MGS5 had too little cutscenes. - Peace Walker has a boring story. - The MSX games haven't been remade. - Fuck remakes.

@@Terror0619 part of the reason too was the insane amount of disks that it would require. Ps3 was running BluRay where as Xbox wasn't. It was something like 11 disks or some shit, would have been required to play it on xbox. Ps3 got exclusivity based on technological advancement of the ps3.
The developer stated in an interview later on that they actually had a 360 version working ‘beautifully’. It was Konami who didn’t want to produce a double disc for the XBox as it wouldn’t fit on one disc (but would for Sony’s Blue Ray format). And that much of the team was comprised of people who didn’t care for XBox and didn’t want to expend the effort on it thinking it wouldn’t run as well as the Ps3 (which seems kind of insane from a tech standpoint). Apparantly some multiplat fans in the company put it together and showed off a great version on XBox. So if it was running on the 360 it can absolutely be ported. Sony did get the exclusive without a deal in place. But it was not Kojima that chose not to put it there. Knowing Kojima he prob wanted everyone playing his game.
A dev from Kojima Productions did say a couple years back that there was a 360 port working. The only reason it didnt release was due to the DvD format and Kojima not wanting to “turn his back” on PS3 players who got one just for MGS4.

MGS V has much, much better gameplay with a more satisfying gameplay loop. MGS 4 has about 2 chapters worth of stealth and is an on rails-boss rush for the rest of it. Yeah, this is a no brainer. I am a huge fan of the whole series but MGS 4 is at the bottom.

I am pretty sure that MGS 4 is coming in the next installment of the Master Collection. For one, it has been confirmed that they were able to get MGS 4 to run on Xbox 360 with no big technical issues. What stopped it was that the game would have been more than 2 discs since it was a DVD based format on Xbox 360 instead of Blu-Ray Format on PS3. Plus MGS 4 is featured in the Master Book included with each main entry in Volume 1. I would say that this alone seems to hint that work on porting MGS 4 is possibly already underway along with whatever games that will be included in Volume 2. Konami says on the Developer Message on the official MG sites that the Master Collection is going to be "The most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th Anniversary of the series", I doubt the canon entries won't get ported to the latest platforms. It is more possible that the more obscure games like Mobile, Touch, and Social Ops won't get ported. TTS probably won't get ported since it was made for the GameCube, and includes multiple Nintendo references that will prevent it from being ported.

Honestly just a "good" cpu and gpu will do. I've managed to play the game with solid 60fps with a shitty 2gb Vram gpu though I do have 16gb ram and a ryzen 5700g.
@@FalconHgv Man spent an entire month tweaking the emulator to achieve that. Ain't no way lol It took me 2 weeks to get it running well on my 7900xtx & 7950x3d. Granted, my PC was brand new and I was inexperienced with AMD hardware. AMD is great though, you just have to tweak each game to get max performance. More work for better operation, a more than worthy trade-off.

The game was rated very highly, including a 10/10 from IGN. I don't get why people insist it's a poor game. Anyone that has actually played it wouldn't agree with that statement in the slightest.
MGS4 is a copyright nightmare. If Konami refuses to renew the licenses. I really don't see a re-release of the game without being so heavily altered in some way.
Fun fact: The reason they added Apple products might have to do as a reference to the movie Independence Day. Why? The voice actor for Major Zero in MGS3 is the British RAF officer that orders an attack on the mothership in the movie. The movie was directed by Roland Emmerich (whom Kojima is a huge fan of). What was Otacon's name again? He tries too hard looking like Jeff Goldblum using that MacBook. Many of the Japanese voice actors of MGS4 also took part on two Emmerich movies: Independence Day and 1999's Godzilla. Bonus fact: The reason why Snake copies the same scene of Riggs trying to end his life in Lethal Weapon? Kojima loved the movies so much, he made the protagonists from Policenauts, Jonathan and Ed, look after Riggs and Murtaugh from the movies.
Paused to type out my response to the final question: Yes, this game deserves to come out on modern hardware/PC. If there's even a small chance that by porting it to the new gen it'll receive more love, or the possibility to be a better recognized game in this day & age, MGS4 deserves that chance. The online could be another factor. MGO2 was unique as hell. It already has a popular dedicated fan base with the custom servers. Having easy access to it for consoles would be amazing. MGS4 deserves to be on modern consoles Edit: Man, how do you spend 19 minutes and 45 seconds building a video around a good, relatively objective point, just to drop the ball with that last part. The uniqueness of the game itself is the appeal to it. Even a casual audience can appreciate the mechanical differences in gameplay between 3 and 4. I mean, MGS1 and 2 aren't exactly a casual experience either, and yet it got the Master Collection treatment. I don't think casuals are gonna let a few cricks in the back stop them from getting to act 4 and the finale. How can you get so opinionated right at the end
Most licences in MGS4 are not too hard to remove. Ipod is as simple as turning it to an MP3 player and change the UI of the ipod to a generic MP3 player and remove the ipod logo. Its getting rid of all the PS3 stuff that is the real hassle as loads of it are in game. They even use a PS3 controller to move the mkII and the PS3 six axis is a core mechanic of the game. Not an issue if they redo the lines and just call it motion controls. Though does the Xbox even have motion controls? and how will that work on the PC. They would have to cut entire lines about the bluray, PS3 and remove the PS3 and other sony models from custcenes which might mess stuff up.
To comment on what you said about regarding MGS4 being a game that would be hard to port / too poorly optimized to port properly: Metal Gear Arcade was created by Konami in 2010 which is literally just Metal Gear Online 2 (multiplayer component of MGS4) but with arcade elements. This version of the game runs on x86 architecture using a Windows XP Embedded OS environment. When running this game you have to limit the FPS because of how well it runs on modern hardware (hundreds of frames per second) which ends up breaking the game if not turned down. Metal Gear Arcade was made around the following hardware: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 (2.66GHz) GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1 GB) (102C0100200 000001) RAM: 2 x Micron MT8JTF12864AZ-1G1F1 (DDR3, PC3-8500, 1GB) OS: Windows XP Embedded (SP2) SND: Realtek ALC887 (HD Audio) It would be no problem for Konami to bring MGS4 over to modern systems, it's just a matter of if they can be bothered to do so, because they *already* have an x86 port made of the engine.
For what it's worth, I think the series jumped shark with MGS4, but it's quality isn't really relevant. Point is people want to play it and it's a pain to do so.

I disagree with almost everything in this video other than Apple probably charging too much for licensing. The only reason changes were made in the trilogy was because they couldnt find the rights holders. They renewed ALL other licenses in those games and some were pretty significant. Also some of the products were ads so they paid or had other partnerships like commercials outside the game. Apple might be the biggest case here. Also MGS4 accessible on PC is one of my most anticipated games and I'd pay $60 for it day one. They also just made advancements with CPUs that can emulate the cell architecture of the PS3 very recently. A huge step for emulation. Not just the CPU working so hard that it can overcome the advantages of the cell architecture, but actually mimic it's intent
Man I had to ask a friend to lend me a PS3 back in 2017 just to play MGS4, because I had already predicted they would never port it to modern consoles or PC.
Fun fact: MGS4 some years ago was on PlayStation store for download on the ps4 I downloaded it, it worked beautifully, but they had removed it completely and my version was locked on my ps4. I still have the game icon there for me to click but it has a lock over it now.

A lot of scenes would have to be re-rendered in engine to remove product placement or else leave gaming holes in the game's narrative. I can't see Konami doing that.

Feel lucky to still own this disc and have it installed on ps3. The cutscenes are amazing as a movie alone. I wondered if half the reason this game is locked on ps3 is due to copyright issues with Apple, Regain, Sony Ericcson etc and the some of the music it featured maybe?
I get your point about day 1 sales but with modern digital storefronts there tends to be a longer trail of purchases after launch, I could see the long term sales being pretty good depending on what platforms it launches on
The firearms themselves aren't lisenced but the issue is now the companies will want money you using their names its why cod as of late doesn't use real weapon names anymore so if they re-released mgs4 they would probably need to change the names of at of the guns I think
Exclusive Games that took full potential of the PS3 like the last of us, uncharted and god of war 3 made it to current gen platforms, it’s not the technical impossibility which is a problem, it’s more so the financial investment to get it properly ported to modern hardware considering the licensing issues. Konami should make it happen since it’s an essential title in the franchise though. Thank you for discussing these points in the video Jag. Really well made. I would honestly buy it day one, I love the game and if done well playing it at a smooth 60fps at 1080p or 4K would be a dream.
The issue is licensing agreements between Playboy, Apple and 1 million different other companies and it wasn’t on the 360 because it would’ve been on 5 disks. Also most of these Kojima is at fault for most of these issues.
You can get the console for 50 Bucks and the game for 5 maybe ten ;) recommend ps3 and ps2 for all broke gamers... Such a great libery of gams to discover!😊

You know konami isnt to blame for all the licensed stuff. Kojima himself is definitely behind some if not all of it. I remember watching a DVD about mgs4 where Kojima talked about loving apple stuff. He even pulled the same crap with Death Stranding which had Monster energy drinks. Konami had nothing to do with it.
I get the fact that its up to Konami on wether or not to renew the licenses but I think they should remove them completely just to rerelease the game,And yes I would definetly buy the game Day 1 without a doubt,I already own the game on the PS3 and would be more than happy to see it finally leave the PS3 prison and jump to modern platforms and PC and I cant wait to fully experience this game on PC with mouse and keyboard support
The licenced stuff, which ages the game more than anything else, is part of the charm. Nothing screams 2008 like iPods (even though it's set in 2014 and pretty much no one was using iPods/MP3 players by then because everyone had smartphones by that point - a pretty common problem with stuff set in the 'near future'), a character creaming his pants over Blu Ray discs, etc.
I might be a small percentage that thinks this, but I thought the master collection was pretty good for what it was. The only problems I had with it didn’t come on the PS5 it was the PS4 version of the games. The trophies wouldn’t pop up mainly MGS3 Secret cut scenes but the modern consoles worked just fine.
This video is just not accurate. If you’ve looked into the game’s history even at a glance, you would have seen a developer had talked about the fact that they had a working 360 version that ‘ran beautifully’. The issue was that while it fit on Sony’s Blu Ray format of the time, it did not fit on XBox’s aging HD DVD format, and would have required 2 discs. Konami didn’t think it was worth the effort and scrapped the idea. It didn’t help that many of the staff loved Playstation and weren’t interested in the 360 version to begin with, and the developers that made the version that was shown off to them happened to be multiplat fans. But the game is totally able to be run on XBox hardware as well. Meaning it absolutely can be ported to modern hardware and was not uniquely tied to Sony’s architecture of the time.
YoUr point about licensed content doesn't really make much sense. For the Apple stuff. They could easily just replace the in-game model and texture and call it "Music Player", or remove it entirely. Same with Otacon's Computer and Laptop. They could easily change the apple logo to something else or remove the logo entirely. They could use a different model for the PC tower. This is basically what Kojima did with the Monster Energy Drinks in Death Stranding. Originally they all had the Monster Logo and everything, but they got changed to be generic drinks. On a side note, you seem to misunderstand what the point of brand placement even is. Brands pay other companies to advertise their products. So Apple paid Konami to have Otacon use an Apple Computer and Laptop, they paid Konami to have Snake's Music Player be an Ipod. Konami wouldn't be paying Apple to renew it, whether the license would be renewed or not would depend on if APPLE wanted to pay, and if not, Konami would need to remove it, but it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Like I said, Kojima pretty much turned the whole Monster product placement into an integral part of the game. The protagonist drank Monster Energy Drink to heal, and yet despite this, the studio managed to remove the branding when their deal ended. The Magazines are just simple models with textures. These textures could be edited to be different magazines, whether real or not. Again not a problem. Pretty much everything else mentioned follows the same thought process. It can either be altered or removed to not be a problem. That's assuming the companies even care enough to not give the go ahead to renew their deals with Konami.
Nothing but love for Nightdive, but we still haven't even gotten System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition yet. Not to mention that SH2:EE isn't even a full remake or remaster.

The culmination and end of the Saga. There were not supposed to be subsequent games, this was supposed to be the final installment. Kojima did not was to further the series, Konomi forced him to. For those like me where Metal Gear on NES was our first game, this was our long wait to get a Solid Snake game, we had to endure the tease of being able to play a full game as him through MGS2 and MGS3. I'd have preferred it if MGS4 started off with Snake being middle-aged and then you experienced his accelerating ageing as the game progressed. There's a disconnect going from the end of MGS2, where Snake is and looks like a 30-something year old, to the beginning of MGS4 where he looks about 70.
i was kind of agreeing with you until the end, there's no denying MGS4 is flawed, but let's be real MGS as a franchise is very flawed:
1. MGS1 is technically the third game in the series canonically since it follows up the MSX/NES games, which barely anyone played or even know about, yet the game is widely known as the first one in the series, instead of being called Metal gear 3 or something.
2. MGS2 bait and switch with raiden was received VERY poorly at the time, which made it one of the most infamous games in the series for a while.
3. MGS3 has some flaws itself and even retcons stuff from the lore.
And finally there's MGS5, which could take an entire essay on it's own with the flaws it has both gameplay and *especially* storywise.
Doesn't matter how flawed MGS4 is, people want to experience it since it's the last chapter of Solid Snake's story, if they like it or not depends on the individual.
I understand having an opinion, but trying to convince people that they dont want a game because of your flawed logic made me decide subscribing to this channel was not for me.

I don't see how anyone can play the game, reach the final boss fight, and not think its one of the greatest games ever made. When Metal Gear Saga plays as they are fighting, my soul leaves my body. The only thing "bad" about this game is that framerate.

Hardcore Metal Gear fans never liked anything that came before or after Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. I can't think of any game except that one that wasn't critized to death.
Some of the complaints include:
- Raiden is gay.
- MGS3 had horrible controls and needed a 3D camera instead of top-down view.
- Portable Ops had horrible controls and needed a top-down view instead of a 3D camera.
- MGS4 had too many cutscenes.
- MGS5 had too little cutscenes.
- Peace Walker has a boring story.
- The MSX games haven't been remade.
- Fuck remakes.

@@Terror0619 part of the reason too was the insane amount of disks that it would require. Ps3 was running BluRay where as Xbox wasn't. It was something like 11 disks or some shit, would have been required to play it on xbox.
Ps3 got exclusivity based on technological advancement of the ps3.
The developer stated in an interview later on that they actually had a 360 version working ‘beautifully’. It was Konami who didn’t want to produce a double disc for the XBox as it wouldn’t fit on one disc (but would for Sony’s Blue Ray format). And that much of the team was comprised of people who didn’t care for XBox and didn’t want to expend the effort on it thinking it wouldn’t run as well as the Ps3 (which seems kind of insane from a tech standpoint). Apparantly some multiplat fans in the company put it together and showed off a great version on XBox. So if it was running on the 360 it can absolutely be ported. Sony did get the exclusive without a deal in place. But it was not Kojima that chose not to put it there. Knowing Kojima he prob wanted everyone playing his game.
I think the performance of MGS 3 Delta will dictate if that same team then tackles MGS 4.
Personally, I'd love to see the game on modern consoles.
A dev from Kojima Productions did say a couple years back that there was a 360 port working. The only reason it didnt release was due to the DvD format and Kojima not wanting to “turn his back” on PS3 players who got one just for MGS4.

I am pretty sure that MGS 4 is coming in the next installment of the Master Collection. For one, it has been confirmed that they were able to get MGS 4 to run on Xbox 360 with no big technical issues. What stopped it was that the game would have been more than 2 discs since it was a DVD based format on Xbox 360 instead of Blu-Ray Format on PS3. Plus MGS 4 is featured in the Master Book included with each main entry in Volume 1. I would say that this alone seems to hint that work on porting MGS 4 is possibly already underway along with whatever games that will be included in Volume 2. Konami says on the Developer Message on the official MG sites that the Master Collection is going to be "The most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th Anniversary of the series", I doubt the canon entries won't get ported to the latest platforms. It is more possible that the more obscure games like Mobile, Touch, and Social Ops won't get ported. TTS probably won't get ported since it was made for the GameCube, and includes multiple Nintendo references that will prevent it from being ported.

It works pretty damn well on RPCS3 with some tweaking. You need a pretty beefy machine though.
Honestly just a "good" cpu and gpu will do. I've managed to play the game with solid 60fps with a shitty 2gb Vram gpu though I do have 16gb ram and a ryzen 5700g.
@@FalconHgv Man spent an entire month tweaking the emulator to achieve that. Ain't no way lol It took me 2 weeks to get it running well on my 7900xtx & 7950x3d. Granted, my PC was brand new and I was inexperienced with AMD hardware. AMD is great though, you just have to tweak each game to get max performance. More work for better operation, a more than worthy trade-off.

The voice actor for Major Zero in MGS3 is the British RAF officer that orders an attack on the mothership in the movie.

Paused to type out my response to the final question: Yes, this game deserves to come out on modern hardware/PC.
If there's even a small chance that by porting it to the new gen it'll receive more love, or the possibility to be a better recognized game in this day & age, MGS4 deserves that chance.
The online could be another factor. MGO2 was unique as hell. It already has a popular dedicated fan base with the custom servers. Having easy access to it for consoles would be amazing.

The uniqueness of the game itself is the appeal to it. Even a casual audience can appreciate the mechanical differences in gameplay between 3 and 4.

Most licences in MGS4 are not too hard to remove.
Ipod is as simple as turning it to an MP3 player and change the UI of the ipod to a generic MP3 player and remove the ipod logo.
Its getting rid of all the PS3 stuff that is the real hassle as loads of it are in game. They even use a PS3 controller to move the mkII and the PS3 six axis is a core mechanic of the game. Not an issue if they redo the lines and just call it motion controls.
Though does the Xbox even have motion controls? and how will that work on the PC.
They would have to cut entire lines about the bluray, PS3 and remove the PS3 and other sony models from custcenes which might mess stuff up.
To comment on what you said about regarding MGS4 being a game that would be hard to port / too poorly optimized to port properly:
Metal Gear Arcade was created by Konami in 2010 which is literally just Metal Gear Online 2 (multiplayer component of MGS4) but with arcade elements. This version of the game runs on x86 architecture using a Windows XP Embedded OS environment. When running this game you have to limit the FPS because of how well it runs on modern hardware (hundreds of frames per second) which ends up breaking the game if not turned down. Metal Gear Arcade was made around the following hardware:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 (2.66GHz)
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1 GB) (102C0100200 000001)
RAM: 2 x Micron MT8JTF12864AZ-1G1F1 (DDR3, PC3-8500, 1GB)
OS: Windows XP Embedded (SP2)
SND: Realtek ALC887 (HD Audio)
It would be no problem for Konami to bring MGS4 over to modern systems, it's just a matter of if they can be bothered to do so, because they *already* have an x86 port made of the engine.

I disagree with almost everything in this video other than Apple probably charging too much for licensing. The only reason changes were made in the trilogy was because they couldnt find the rights holders. They renewed ALL other licenses in those games and some were pretty significant. Also some of the products were ads so they paid or had other partnerships like commercials outside the game. Apple might be the biggest case here. Also MGS4 accessible on PC is one of my most anticipated games and I'd pay $60 for it day one. They also just made advancements with CPUs that can emulate the cell architecture of the PS3 very recently. A huge step for emulation. Not just the CPU working so hard that it can overcome the advantages of the cell architecture, but actually mimic it's intent

The firearms themselves aren't lisenced but the issue is now the companies will want money you using their names its why cod as of late doesn't use real weapon names anymore so if they re-released mgs4 they would probably need to change the names of at of the guns I think
Exclusive Games that took full potential of the PS3 like the last of us, uncharted and god of war 3 made it to current gen platforms, it’s not the technical impossibility which is a problem, it’s more so the financial investment to get it properly ported to modern hardware considering the licensing issues. Konami should make it happen since it’s an essential title in the franchise though. Thank you for discussing these points in the video Jag. Really well made. I would honestly buy it day one, I love the game and if done well playing it at a smooth 60fps at 1080p or 4K would be a dream.
The issue is licensing agreements between Playboy, Apple and 1 million different other companies and it wasn’t on the 360 because it would’ve been on 5 disks.
Also most of these Kojima is at fault for most of these issues.
$40 is not an expensive game nowadays. I’ve never played MGS4. I wouldn’t buy it day one, but that’s just because I’m broke.
You can get the console for 50 Bucks and the game for 5 maybe ten ;) recommend ps3 and ps2 for all broke gamers... Such a great libery of gams to discover!😊
9:24 i fail to see how the duration of porting would be a negative? 14 months or 28 months, at least the game is or was being ported. this is just a silly excuse... but you are right on the money regarding licensed content in video games. it does more harm than good.

You know konami isnt to blame for all the licensed stuff. Kojima himself is definitely behind some if not all of it. I remember watching a DVD about mgs4 where Kojima talked about loving apple stuff. He even pulled the same crap with Death Stranding which had Monster energy drinks. Konami had nothing to do with it.
I get the fact that its up to Konami on wether or not to renew the licenses but I think they should remove them completely just to rerelease the game,And yes I would definetly buy the game Day 1 without a doubt,I already own the game on the PS3 and would be more than happy to see it finally leave the PS3 prison and jump to modern platforms and PC and I cant wait to fully experience this game on PC with mouse and keyboard support

You get the licensing wrong. Those are ads. It is not Apple or playboy that demands money from Konami, but Konami demanding them for money due to ads.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great… movie.
The licenced stuff, which ages the game more than anything else, is part of the charm. Nothing screams 2008 like iPods (even though it's set in 2014 and pretty much no one was using iPods/MP3 players by then because everyone had smartphones by that point - a pretty common problem with stuff set in the 'near future'), a character creaming his pants over Blu Ray discs, etc.
I might be a small percentage that thinks this, but I thought the master collection was pretty good for what it was. The only problems I had with it didn’t come on the PS5 it was the PS4 version of the games. The trophies wouldn’t pop up mainly MGS3 Secret cut scenes but the modern consoles worked just fine.
This video is just not accurate. If you’ve looked into the game’s history even at a glance, you would have seen a developer had talked about the fact that they had a working 360 version that ‘ran beautifully’. The issue was that while it fit on Sony’s Blu Ray format of the time, it did not fit on XBox’s aging HD DVD format, and would have required 2 discs. Konami didn’t think it was worth the effort and scrapped the idea. It didn’t help that many of the staff loved Playstation and weren’t interested in the 360 version to begin with, and the developers that made the version that was shown off to them happened to be multiplat fans. But the game is totally able to be run on XBox hardware as well. Meaning it absolutely can be ported to modern hardware and was not uniquely tied to Sony’s architecture of the time.
I got a PS3 and later a beast of a PC in order to emulate it. I love this game and I want everyone to play it

YoUr point about licensed content doesn't really make much sense. For the Apple stuff. They could easily just replace the in-game model and texture and call it "Music Player", or remove it entirely. Same with Otacon's Computer and Laptop. They could easily change the apple logo to something else or remove the logo entirely. They could use a different model for the PC tower.
This is basically what Kojima did with the Monster Energy Drinks in Death Stranding. Originally they all had the Monster Logo and everything, but they got changed to be generic drinks.
On a side note, you seem to misunderstand what the point of brand placement even is. Brands pay other companies to advertise their products. So Apple paid Konami to have Otacon use an Apple Computer and Laptop, they paid Konami to have Snake's Music Player be an Ipod. Konami wouldn't be paying Apple to renew it, whether the license would be renewed or not would depend on if APPLE wanted to pay, and if not, Konami would need to remove it, but it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Like I said, Kojima pretty much turned the whole Monster product placement into an integral part of the game. The protagonist drank Monster Energy Drink to heal, and yet despite this, the studio managed to remove the branding when their deal ended.
The Magazines are just simple models with textures. These textures could be edited to be different magazines, whether real or not. Again not a problem.
Pretty much everything else mentioned follows the same thought process. It can either be altered or removed to not be a problem. That's assuming the companies even care enough to not give the go ahead to renew their deals with Konami.

Nothing but love for Nightdive, but we still haven't even gotten System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition yet. Not to mention that SH2:EE isn't even a full remake or remaster.
I gave video a dislike, here is why.
The whole thing abour the game being impossible to port is utter tripe. It eas ported to PC for MGO:Arcade and Vita for a tech demo, it CAN be done, im glsd you didnt repeat the "impossible" line that others do.
As for the licenced content, I really doubt that apple would charge anywhere close to 50m, apple products still apear everywhere on TV snd film, i garantee Modern Family didn't pay 50m! And anyways if had access to the MGS source i could get rid of all those references in less than a day, its really NOT a hard task. Before anyone replies sayinf "how would you know your not a dev", I am. Ive neen a software engineer for 5 years.
As for not needing to port the game because it's "bad" thay argument is absolutely rubbish, that is 100% your OPINION not fact. You are entitled to it but why are you presenting it as a fact that "even knoami know"? Like it or not MGS4 is the ending to Solid Snakes story and thr franchise as a whole, why should we leave it to rot on ps3? Its an integral part of the story.
You had my thumbs up until you bashed on the game. you aren't a hardcore Metal Gear fan (yes Metal Gear no MGS) if you don't get why Snake being old isn't a other. It's Solid Snake's last ride. The culmination and end of the Saga. There were not supposed to be subsequent games, this was supposed to be the final installment. Kojima did not was to further the series, Konomi forced him to. For those like me where Metal Gear on NES was our first game, this was our long wait to get a Solid Snake game, we had to endure the tease of being able to play a full game as him through MGS2 and MGS3. This was our long awaited awaited opus to play our beloved character. Your "sad ugly truth" was many people's long awaited treasure.
I bought the master collection and was super excited to have all the games. Only to discover that several of them are download codes that are long-expired.
I still have PS3 and mgs 4, so no .. I don't need to buy it day one
They will remake it just like MGS Delta.
