Agree. It makes sense to start with your strongest card and the one that happens to be first in the timeline. Let’s hope that a mixture of good reviews, player experience and sales can give Konami the confidence that bringing MGS back to modern audiences is viable & will lead to more remakes in the series.
Portable Ops and especially Peace Walker I want remade. With better graphics and gamestructure, it's just MGS5 but better. Oh and I want MG1 and 2 remade of course, like everyone else. MG2 is my second favorite in the series.
No they are not men, sorry, unless they have a new boss or manager, they will not change their ways....i wish i was wrong, but they are only coming back for games because covid destroied their pachinko finances
@@S1LV3R.GH057 that’s not what a remake is, taking some stuff from your previous work and putting it in something else doesn’t make that other thing a remake of the previous work
An idea I had: During the final boss fight against Venom Snake, he tells a speech on being manipulated and soldiers not having free will, then he reveals the horn, makes a final statement and the fight begins. First timers will think he is merely talking about the government, while already knowing fans will understand Venom is reflecting on how the actual Big Boss used him to glorify himself by spreading his legend during the Phantom Pain Incident, making him a huge hypocrite. This would look epic af.
MGS3 will always have a special place in my heart, for reasons totally outside of playing the game. I bought the collectors edition or whatever it was called, that came with the full length movie made out of mostly all the game's cinematics. I was watching that one day, for the first time, and my grandmother came in and watched the whole thing with me. Among the thousands of great memories I have with her, that one is still special.
I figured Kojima's perfect exit was the Ouroboros that was MGSV with a prime set up to reboot the series using the fox engine. Start from Metal Gear itself and go in the same release order. Of course Konami will fuck this up in more than one way.
This is what I was honestly expecting to happen in the next couple of years when I finished MGSV after buying at launch. We were all in for some disappointment.
@Miuranger1 he's been tired, yes. Konami on the other hand wants to beat a dead horse for money, chief. Just like their pachinko machines of this very title.
I heard from somewhere that the reason Kojima wanted the separate keycards is to increase the feel of panic when you're discovered and you're desperately rifling through your inventory to find the correct card, it's also a bit of a nerf to resetting everything by changing zones (which idk if they had the technology to fix that back then)
idk if it's just in the PS4 version, but a lot of areas don't reset the enemy aggro, so I don't see the need for a bunch of cards (specially after the first game)
I’ve had the idea for the longest time to turn Metal Gear 1 into “MGS0: Outer Heaven.” Bullet-point summary below: • Retconned backstory: Venom Snake gets nanomachine injections sometime after MGSV to assist with a robotic surgery done by Dr. Madnar to remove his shrapnel horn. The surgery succeeds, but the nanomachines are prototypes that damage his psyche and make him go insane. He stops doing things according to Big Boss’s plans by 1995 and goes rogue. Venom acts a clown basically and gets the world concerned that OH has nukes, and the UN demands an investigation be done. Big Boss determines he needs to assassinate Venom and take over OH for himself and get things back on track for his eventual plan to overthrow Cipher. • Solid Snake has his own Virtuous Mission: “Operation N311 ‘Bloodhound.’” He infiltrates Seychelles Mother Base, now a FOB that Outer Heaven has mostly abandoned, to find out if they really do have a Metal Gear. He doesn’t find any conclusive evidence (just as Big Boss secretly hoped for - a lack of evidence could be used as damage control and quell any suspicions.) But the mission goes wrong when he’s confronted by Venom Snake, who now goes by that codename and wears a masquerade mask to conceal his face, and long-sleeved clothing and gloves to hide his bionic arm. Venom foils Solid’s mission and distracts him until the base begins to be demolished by C4 detonation. Solid barely escapes with his life and enters a coma for 9 days. • During that 9-day period, Gray Fox goes on his N312 mission to Outer Heaven’s main base to assassinate Venom. He fails and is captured. • We finally get to N313 “Intrude.” The way it plays out combines narrative elements of both the MSX2 and NES versions of the original game, with new stuff as well as references to the rest of the series. For example: - Solid Snake parachutes into a jungle just south of the facility, while “Beta Squad” lands closer to the fortress to distract their defenses and allow Solid to sneak in. - The resistance against OH is none other than the Gindra Liberation Front - yes, I partially “canonize” Ghost Babel but also retcon its world-building a ton. - The first boss, Shotmaker, being former Spetsnaz, is acquainted with Ocelot, and is clued in on Solid Snake’s origins. He mocks and teases him about it during the fight without revealing too much. - I combined the Machine Gun Kid, helicopter (MSX2,) and turrets (NES) encounters into one singular fight, with the turrets in question being AA guns turned against Solid Snake on foot, and Machine Gun Kid mans one of them. The helicopter is piloted by Pequod. - The tank fight is replaced by the scrapped Battle Gear concept from MGSV. - Bloody Brad is replaced by the “Firebolt;” basically Volgin/“The Man on Fire’s” semi-conscious body attached to a cybernetic exoskeleton powered by his innate electrical powers. He wields both electricity and fire. Solid Snake **finally** puts Volgin to permanent rest by blowing him up. - Dirty Duck is replaced entirely by the scrapped Adult Chico concept from MGSV. Lore is Venom found and recruited him in Africa (originally intended for V but left on the cutting room floor,) and he has Mist Unit abilities. - Venom Snake pretends to be Big Boss to destroy his reputation. Basically “if I’m going down, I’m taking you with me.” He actually pilots TX-55, you take it down by firing rockets and hurtling grenades at its legs. When Solid destroys the mech, Venom climbs out, uses a remote to activate the self-destruct, and engages Solid personally. His nanomachines are an early prototype of Vamp’s from MGS2 and 4; Venom Snake isn’t immortal, but bullets don’t kill him. Solid has to use rockets to blow him to bits. At the end of the fight, the now-disfigured Venom pleads for Solid to kill him, similar to The Boss with Big Boss, but Solid refuses to do it, saying the world would be a better place “if people could just put the gun down.” - Like MGS3, Solid Snake gets his own long ladder-climbing sequence at the end, with “Here’s To You” from MGSV playing in the background. Like MGS4, half the screen would also show Venom Snake slowly dying on the floor, smoking one last phantom cigar. • After Outer Heaven is destroyed by the bombing campaign mentioned in Metal Gear 2, the GLF believe their leader (retconned Kyle Schneider) was unalived in the explosion, and initiate a vengeful independence war against South Africa, with their new leader vowing to have revenge on the West. This sets up a possible Ghost Babel remake that fits with the canon. • Kaz Miller joins FOXHOUND after hearing about the supposed “death” of Big Boss in South Africa, assuming it was Venom, in order to train Solid to one day fight the real man. • The after-credits phone call is Ocelot talking to the real Big Boss about Venom’s failed uprising, and how Cipher has been replaced by The Patriots AI system. He’ll infiltrate the Patriots to help Solidus Snake try to find a way to take the system down. Finally, he bids a somewhat emotional farewell to Big Boss, remarking that that call could be the last time they talk to each other, and wishes him luck in “Zanzibaristan.” He finds it poetic that Big Boss’ ultimate plan will culminate where everything started - confirming the fan theory that Tselinoyarsk is Zanzibar Land, and setting up the MG2 remake…
Actually man you should tweet this so Konami hears this. I know that it’s very likely they don’t but we don’t lose anything by trying. You have a lot of good ideas.
I Always had in mind projects and plans For a remake of This game but you sir, you did made This community proud. Like the guy before me said you should send This at konami, we have nothing to lose
@@kururhai4531 Yup, it's very interesting to me. As someone who spends good money on games, but has maybe spent a total of 20 bucks ever on microtransactions or cosmetic items, I don't get how. But if people wanna spend their money that way, more power to 'em.
I'd cut them some slack, even the infamous Diablo incident guys. Tempo of mobile development and similiar consumer electronic devices is incomprehensible. Still, the context is very saddening and brings up connotations with gold digging - as if it's not everywhere, anyway - yet it's also an example of misguided technological visionarism in pair with attribution error.
All great ideas, I'm very impressed!! While MG1&2 remakes would have been the obvious choices, I think an MGS3 Remake was definitely the right move to regain a LOT of lost goodwill in both Konami and the Metal Gear IP now that Kojima won't be working on it (as long a they don't fumble the ball...Delta needs to be amazing). As long as Delta is good, that will revitalize the IP and bring in a TON of new eyes on it as well which would be exciting. The next move is to capitalize on it by making MG1&2 remakes/reimaginings; returning players from Delta will love to have more quality Metal Gear content, and even old fans who were too skeptical to get Delta should decide to cross the pond having heard how good Delta was since they'll be getting somewhat new Metal Gear content after more than 10 years. How could anyone resist? If Konami play their cards right, they might see a spike in consumer trust and engagement like what's been happening with Capcom ever since they released Resident Evil 2 Remake. They'll be the new posterboys of the gaming industry. Now let's hope they're smart.
I think for the South Africa portion of this hypothetical remake it could tie in a lot with MGSV. For example the Bloody Brad cyborgs could be replaced with members of the Skulls unit that were caught and brought back to Mother Base by Venom along with adding soldiers on D-Walkers as enemies. On harder difficulties like Extreme for the final boss against Venom he could even be wearing the Parasite suit granting him access to their abilities like in MGSV for an added challenge.
MGS3 was probably the best choice for a remake. It has been remembered the most fondly. It also has the best example of sandbox gameplay that the games were trying to go for at the beginning
I mean MGS3 remade first makes sense because it's the earliest in the timeline. I just hope they don't go and remake MGS1 without touching the MSX games..
21:47 That backstory would not work because Solid Snake told Naomi word for word that he first met Gray Fox on the battlefield being held a prisoner of Outer Heaven. Their chemistry together would have to be sometime after MG1 but not too close to MG2 when he disappears with Big Boss to Zanzibar Land.
Or just retcon the story of Metal Gear 1 to have Snake and Gray Fox fight together as allies for a significant portion of it, and have them build their friendship that way, instead of Snake just busting him out of prison, and then having Fox disappear from the narrative completely.
@@EnvyOmicron Love this idea, could be a mission similar to Raiden and Snake in MGS2, the mission would be to get an injured but still somewhat capable fox out of there.
MG2:SS is in particular a masterpiece in terms of story, and has interesting gameplay despite many backtracking and cryptic things, this is criminal to not remake it (maybe by adding the dialogue during which Big Boss reveals he is Snake’s father, making the fight against Grey Fox more epic, giving more Codec calls when you are stuck and maybe even integrating some MGS3 survival elements, since both games take place on the same place).
I personally think the title "Metal Gear: Solidified" and maybe "Metal Gear II: Solidified" could work though it might be confusing, and you'd only use it if it was done in the gameplay and styles of the MGS games.
1:20 I have absolutely no problem with such. People even back in the V era or even pre-V era wanted remakes for all the past games. Why wouldn't you want to give people what they want? Makes sense in terms of image and financially.
I remember that when I played Metal Gear I died to the prisoner that was actually a trap, when I came back I killed him but it actually counted as an actual prisoner and lowered my rank, and after that there is a part where you need a high enough rank but since I killed him and there where no other prisoners I soft locked myself and I rage quit the game
The founding games of one of the biggest franchises in videogaming... sure are being left to wither on the vine. Kudos to you for coming up with these propositions, trying to help solve a real problem with Metal Gear.
No. Chronologically it makes sense to remake Snake Eater first. And in terms of risk and bussiness as well. Remaking MG1 and 2, woulld be more than just remaking them from the ground up. It would require adding things to the plot. Most of MG1 there is little to no dialogue, and the script is honestly lacking. Adding anything to the script would risk messing things up without Kojima, they know this, and thats why they won't do this, at least not until they feel more seasoned making Metal Gear games without Kojima, even if they are just remakes. Slowly they will regain the trust of the fans, and slowly dare to add and change more of the game, not just mechanically, but perhaps in story telling too. But right now they want to play it safe. Which is a good call. Just think about how Kojima retconned a few things himself already in MGS1. Big Boss never actually said to Snake that he was his "Father", as snake mentions to Naomi in MGS1. But we are supposed to go along with that as if that happened somewhere offscreen at least. Now with a remake, they might have to implement these and other retcons somehow correctly, that alone is a huge risk of messing things up.
MGS3 should be the first game and follow the timeline going forward. The potential to remake MG1 and 2 for the current consoles would make it feel like an entire new game. A lot of fans started with MGS
I think the best shot we had of having remakes of MG1 and MG2 was during the PSP era. They could have done something really cool without having to risk the ridiculous amounts of money developing games cost nowdays for modern systems.
Max, you should check out Kyle Hill's video "Dead Internet Theory: A.I. Killed the Internet". It is a whole new perspective for the MGS2 Colonel dialog, might give you some insight for a new take on the most profound dialogue in gaming!
In MGS2 when Raiden discovers Snakes identity; Snake tells Raiden that the legends of him don’t live up to the reality. This could be a cool moment if these games were remade to show that Snake had more help than the stories let on, or that some more dark decisions were made that contradict his legend status later on. Just my two cents! Awsome vid, subbed.
Intro section where you play as grey fox (followed by an mgs2 like mc switch to solid snake), 90’s music soundtrack, and a final boss fight and cutscene reminiscent of the end of outer heaven comic. All I want. The title: Metal Gear Solid 0: Outer Heaven
I would love for them to be remade, but maybe not just yet.... Instead, we start with 3 as we already are, and then remake the games in in-universe chronological order. - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater [remade as Delta.] - Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops [built within the Phantom pain engine and altered to better match it's scope rather than being just a remake of the handheld game.] - Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker [as above.] - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes [Included in The Phantom Pain as originally planned as well as one or more additional missions where you return to it within TPP's story.] - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain [A graphical remaster at most, very little would need to be done to what currently exists..... put the money into finishing the game and adding the 3rd act that got cut.] - Metal Gear [Your idea.] - Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake [Your idea.] - Metal Gear Solid [Full delta treatment, perhaps with additional content that had to be cut from the original.] - Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty [As above.] - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots [As above, but for the love of crap trim the cutscenes or at least replace segments with playable versions.... 71 minutes at the end.... NO, show restraint.] - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance [Full remake where you better realise the original vision of the CUT ANYTHING gameplay. DO NOT lay a finger on the soundtrack or hammy acting.] Ghost Babel, Acid, Acid 2, Mobile and even Survive too, IF they can be fit into the timeline and adjusted to be canon. [At the least, include these and portable ops in a master collection volume so we can have all games in one place.]
The intent of this being for us to simply be able to play the whole story in order. For new fans to get the story laid out in an order they can follow without all the time jumping we went through, as well as a way for them to better tie the narratives together to fill in any plotholes, and to lay the tracks for anything extra they want to add along the way.
I think that Kojima should do the favor and cooperate with Konami to make a GZ-TPP style remake. As you said Max, it'd be absolutely epic. Imagine playing like in TPP games with huge scenarios and variety (especially Zanzibar). I though, would implore Kojima to think about the first MGS (1998) in order to depict the personality of a young Solid Snake, more idealist and loyal to his country, the US, while focusing the hole production about the theme of "youth", its strength and the infinite possibilities for it to change the future. I would love seeing an inexpert Snake learning from Fox (literally, with more moves available in following stages of the game) and grow a strong friendship, destined to end dramatically in the second segment. The Bosses should be emphasized with the respective backgrounds, and the protagonist's growth told with timed and deeply meaningful cutscenes. I loved how MGS broke the 4th wall; I wish to see that again. And my dream, Max, would be fighting Gray Fox in a rainy night battlefield, the two soaked and gazing grim, ready to fight, with explosions all around them. We know Snake was helped by the local resistance against the regime... and I remember the spoils of African families destroyed and burnt alive in MGS 5. Easy to imagine a game that denounces the world's worst acts of infamy and ruthless slaughter of innocence, with the West turning the blind eye. About Venom and the real Big Boss: I just wish to see the emotional battles and philosophical premises of these showdowns, and how the losses Snake endured along the story tempered his character. All this simply CANNOT be made by Konami's butchers. We need a fine hand and head: We need Kojima-Sama
Nice to see someone who agrees. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 should be done together in one game, and if that was konami's first choice, it would have been a proper relaunch point to inform how they approach the future games going forward. (more room to experiment, but also more room for error without screwing up a more beloved pre-established game). I just see more freedom there; It's the stuff they can play around with most, and the stuff that can see the greatest improvements being updated the most, which excites me a little more than simply the same exact game with prettier fidelity. It's the same reason I prefer Resident Evil 2 Remake over RE4. Or Final Fantasy Rebirth in general. In any case, MGS 3 is still probably the second-best decision since it's where the mythology starts. And it's interesting that all your suggestions for how to handle it are based on character and story, where all my ideas for a potential MG+MG2 remake would be on the developer side, like the levels, tools and mechanics, and how to do the boss fights. It's going to be a challenge to make Jungle Evil feel different from The Fear, or Fire Trooper feel different from The Fury. And that's not including the attack choppers and the Metal Gear itself. This franchise had 4 different sniper battles across the Solid series, but they all had their own style thanks to Kojima's knack for game design.
Excellent video max!, I believe that the final speech of big boss in mg2 is what most harms the feeling of playing mg2 again, due to the strong retcons that this same scene suffered, with the saga already concluded.
I think the easiest way to get people to play remakes of games they know little about is it market them like "Discover the origins of the legendary Solid Snake!" similar to "Discover the origins of the legendary Big Boss!" in MGS3. People are already curious about what happened between MGS5 and MGS1, especially with how often the events of the MSX games are references in later games. If you put "Discover the origins of the legendary Solid Snake" on top of that, you are not only drawing in people who were already curious, you're also drawing in most people in general, because everyone loves Solid Snake and would want to know more about him as well as play as him in his prime again after 20 years of him being not playable or an old man.
What I was thinking for a MG remake, dont combine it with 2, expand on it. If they used the Fox engine and the gameplay of MGSV, make it so Snake has to actually locate Outer Heaven. Have him have to track the way Gray Fox went. The Big Boss talking to him on the Codec is the genuine Big Boss, and is aware of everything going on under Venom Snake. Solid Snake needs the history implied in 4 though, and it gives them stuff to talk about. But Big Boss istrying to buy some time for his plans for Zanzibar and the Metal Gear projects so he's playing ignorant but giving helpful advice up until Snake finds Outer Heaven and infiltrates it, maybe he has to find a way to sneak onto a Diamond Dog chopper coming back from a mission. And once Snake is at Outer Heaven the big points of the story play out as usual but maybe Gray Fox is now running interference and helps you once Big Boss gets shady on the Codec. And I think because of MGSV we should see DD or his fate at least, same with the D-Horse. Quiet might make a little appearance or even help, though her motivation should be explained. I think the Metal Gear should actually be a boss fight though, not standing deactivated while we dodge the lasers on the wall. And when we face Venom Snake, he should be using the D-Walker. It'd justify using a rocket launcher on him. Maybe you have to destroy it before you can actually defeat Venom. As for remaking MG2SS, give it the RE1R treatment where everything is as it should be and the story is the same, just give us more areas and bosses. Expand on it to give us more gameplay.
It's chronologically first so I'm ok with it being the first to be remade, next portable ops and peace walker, and MGSV remaster, and only then the Metal Gear 1&2 remake together, MGS1 and so on
They're starting from the beginning of the story, they already said why they chose mgs3 in a couple of promo videos if they continue to remake them I'm sure we'd get metal gear 1, 2, and then drift into solid 1 2 and 4.
After playing MGSV, I can't help but imagine that the soldiers of Outer Heaven and Zanzibar are the same soldiers who were part of Diamond Dogs. After Venom Snake spent so much time building up DD and spreading the legend of Big Boss, all the operatives in DD joined Outer Heaven.
This is actually a really good idea espically since its a perfect follow up to MGSV. They could take the capcom approach and start from these MG games and begin remake each MGS title.
What upsets me is mg2 addressed why Big Boss returned. We did not need Venom over convoluting the lore. I like your first idea if we are forced with Venom just don’t tell us just cover it and show his horn once he is dead. Keep it as subtle and elegant as possible. I love your idea of the return of vr missions.
Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake should have been the first games to be remade. They could have done them both as one game. There are so many things in the future games that the original Metla Gear and Metal Gear 2 didn't account for story wise.
Timeline and review wise it makes a lot more sense to remake MGS3 first. It’s by far considered the best one, so it will sell well and then we can get the others. If they remade the others ( besides MGS1) it might have missed the mark in sells and we would have got nothing after that.
Metal gear 2 solid snake is easily one of the best metal gear games in my opinion. The limitations of the msx2 don’t really hold the game back but i also love the old jank in games
Metal Gear 1 remake could also be combined into a Metal Gear solid 6, giving conclusion to Venom's story and as a prequel to Solid Snake, pleasing the OG players and the new ones, but Konami just doesn't have the guts to do it by themselves
PlayStation not porting over Bloodborne yet is absolute insanity especially when you consider how much new interest there is in Fromsoft games thanks the Elden Ring
Not too long ago I completed my Big Boss codename run for MG2: Solid Snake. It's an amazing game, very advanced for being made in 1990 and no wonder it was the blueprint for Metal Gear Solid. The owl "puzzle" still mesmerizes me.
Just an idea, but it'd be surreal to make Venom Snake to tell the story of The Boss betrayal, but somehow twisted(?) to resemble how Big Boss betrayed Venom Snake. *** "Why did you do it?", Solid Snake asked. "I had a mentor too, once. Just like you and I. A mentor I was loyal to, and would give my life for. Until that day America used my mentor for their agenda. 1964." "Operation Snake Eater?" "Yes. It was the Cold War, and the world was rather simpler. Red or Blue, black or white. The Boss detected to the Soviets, but it was all a ruse. Some bastard screwed everything, and the Americans need a scapegoat. They needed someone to put on a performance and do no one in their right mind would." "The Boss betrayed America for her selfish gain, for the lack of appreciation, for revenge. Sounds like a mean ex girlfriend ." "Oh no, far from it. She was loyal to her country. She was willing to become the demon she is known for, and do what they want. She had no say in it, but she did it anyway. All because she loved her homeland and what it stood for. And I hate them for it. That's why I do what I do, and that's why I created Outer Heaven. The world must become whole again. The world needs a Boss, the soldiers a place to always exist. For us, Snake, so that we are not played around with and thrown away after they're bored with us. You of all people should understand, really." "Hating on the world is one thing, Boss. But to burn it, keep the flames of war, is another. I've met wonderful people along this journey. Fox, Schneider, Jennifer, all of them deserve to live in a world where wars can end. I won't allow you and your twisted desire to take over the world." "Is that so.. Then let us make the next five minutes the best time of our lives. Show me the soul of a warrior, Snake!"
As we all know, Big Boss became villain in Metal Gear 1 and 2 because of events during Snake Eater, when he was forced to kill The Boss, his mentor and mother figure, how Zero treated him as tool for sake of his own ego ever since he created Patriots with Philosopher's Legacy and betrayed him with Les Enfants Terribles project, and all the things he went through in Peace Walker and MGS 5 have caused him to become disillusioned with every country's governments, about how they treated soldiers as political tools, likw how he and The Boss were used for personal political gains rather than for protecting their country. With many Metal Gear games that expanded the Big Boss's lore, his motivations in MG1 and MG2 became more clear. However, with expanded lore, if they were to remake Metal Gear 1 and 2, they would have to make Big Boss in MG2's final boss fight explain to his son, Solid Snake, about why he did he do all of that, how he was betrayed by his own government and wishes for soldiers to not walk the same path that he and The Boss did.
Just had an idea - have Gray Fox meet David during the (first) Gulf War. Maybe Gray Fox, as the premiere member of Foxhound is on a mission to rescue some POWs, meets David, and they bond during their escape. Have Gray Fox be the one who brings David to BB's attention and thats howbhes selected as Foxhound's newest member. That way Intrude N313 can still be David's first solo infiltration, but we know he isnt a conplete rookie and can handle himself. Make it less obvious that its intended to be a suicide mission.
Here's how they can do it: frame it as a sequel to MGS V! Take the original stories and merge them under one roof, sure, but incorporate all the ret-cons and new themes, and then make it less a prequel and more a sequel that brings the Metal Gear series full circle. Metal Gear Solid VI: Outer Heaven.
I've played the msx games around 5 years ago and they are completly playable for today standards, they were included in the mgs collection of the xbox 360, I'm sure they are available in other platforms too, there's no excuse to play them.
Metal Gear Solid 6 should be the msx2 remakes. Have the prologue for both stories be about Gray Fox. And Metal Gear (1987) can be the tanker/virtuous mission and the Ground zeroes chapter of that game while Zanzibarland can be the Plant/Snake Eater/ and TPP chapter of MGS6. See young Solid Snake be like how Naked Snake was when he was innocent and a rookie. Then he learns to become a hardened experienced veteran who became bitter and more wiser. See more of Kazuhira Miller, Dr. Madnar, Roy Campbell, Major Zero, Eli (Liquid Snake), and Frank Jaeger. See more of Holly and Jennifer interact with Snake and have MG2’s story be reimagined and not have it be too similar to MGS1 since MGS1 was a remake in terms of story. Also see more story connections with MGS3, MPO, MPW and MGS5. See Big Boss’ personality be like Darth Vader and be more experienced, wiser, smarter, and unforgiving. See him training and kidnapping child soldiers to fight against Cipher. And see Big Boss torture and interrogate enemy soldiers for information. See flashbacks between Solid Snake and Big Boss mentoring him with Master Miller. See more of Major zero along with Donald Anderson, Dr. Clark and EVA. Show what happened with Chico, Amanda, and Cecile after the events of Peace Walker. Have Boss tell Solid Snake in battle that he acts like Pza the only difference was that she was a triple agent and fooled Big Boss and decided to kill Snake because Zero, without permission, used his DNA to clone him. The healthy Japanese woman that was part of the operation is also in the remakes. And Jim Houseman would also be in talks with Solidus and Major Zero. The outer Heaven segment would have ground zeroes style open world and outside level similar to NES title. And soldiers in the MSX2 remakes would be the ones from MGS5 transferred.
They should remake them both, put them together as a 2-part story, as they're not that big. Similar with the later "Portable Ops & Peace Walker", bigger, modernized, but not as big as the main games.
Metal gear 1 and 2 do deserve remakes but I've always thought that the bigger big brained play for Konami would be to remake Metal Gear Solid Ghost Babel and expand on that games alternate timeline. That would give them an excuse to make brand new Metal Gear solid games without conflicting with Kojima's continuity. Just call it thr Metal Gear Ghost series
Man, I would love, though, a remake of Ghost Babel. That game had some really overlooked story and characters and, it being non-canon, could be a branching-off point for a new and different timeline/continuity.
I agree with this, however alot of ideas from the MSX games were used in the MGS1, You'd need some super fans on the team to truly rework those games to make them work. There's also Portable Ops & Ghost Bable that could be great contestants to be properly remade.
If Delta were to be a huge success, it could provide Konami with a golden opportunity to approach the series in chronological order. Delta could serve as the start of the saga, followed by remakes of Portable Ops and Peace Walker to depict the beginnings of Big Boss's private military. Next, Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain could be remastered or remade, including the final missing chapter to introduce Venom Snake. Afterward, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 could be remade as outlined in this video. The series could then progress to remakes of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, culminating with a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4 to conclude the saga. This approach would also open the door for potential spin-offs, reboots, and many other stories to be explored.
The other thing is that some part of the global narrative is developing in order of game releases, not in chronological order of games' stories. You learn more about things mentioned in MGS1 and 2 later in MGS3, which chronologically now is first to be remade. So if they remake other games, some things won't be as mysterious and confusing for new players, and the way they are presented in originals would look strange for a player who is already aware of them. So that would warrant some changes, and I don't think anyone trusts Konami to change the story of those games.
I wish Ghost Babel (or Metal Gear Solid as it was named in America) for the GBC was re-made and re-worked to fit into the overall narrative and chronology of Metal Gear. Such a criminally underrated game. It could be made as a prequel to Metal Gear 2, or a prequel to the first MGS and even add more to the whole Solid Snake/Big Boss relationship.
When MGSV came out, I was really hoping that it was leading to MG and MG2 remakes in the Fox Engine. They would have fit right in with MGSV's episodic format and we could have had two smaller, detailed maps closer to the scope of Ground Zeroes. I prefer GZ to TPP and would have loved two more maps like Camp Omega to do missions on.
to add to mgsv's motherbase infiltrations. Considering the msx games are all indoors (near enough) of the base, why not add a doom/halo-like map editor of some form where you can string different types of rooms together where you can code/premade block-code to make little custom community levels or as a way to continue innovating the MB infil feature anyway with letting us actually hand place elements of the bases (obv this would be for replayability and the online factor konami seems to want to push everywhere, nothing to do with the story or lore, just a fun extra mode to add more gameplay
I've played these two Metal Gear games, and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake's is my favorite (real) sequel. It's indeed one of the best retro action stealth games. That defined the stealth genre. I'm not sure if Konami will ever think about remaking these two games. If they do. Hope that it's faithful to the original.
Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake has some epic boss fights. Imagine the battle between Snake and Gray Fox surrounded by land mines fight to the death and killing big boss with a hair spray flamethrower.
I honestly don't think they'll go this far into doing anything with them unless they combine them into one game and switch up tons of aspects of it. Even then I wouldn't be surprised if they just kept them retro-style. There just wasn't much story with them in the first place. With Gray Fox I would almost guess that they might do something more like Revengeance if they were going to try something, but I also think he falls into a character where not knowing the details works in his favor.
I’m just now realizing that Death Stranding 2 and that horror game with Jordan Peele might be Kojima’s last…the dude’s getting old, he’s gotta retire at some point. Damn…I could see him going till he hits 70 but that’s still about 3 games. That last one will truly be a masterpiece. Maybe even a PT reboot, who knows?
Which is sad to think. Contemporary Kojima has lost himself in the haze of Hollywood intrigue. What he doesn't realize is that Hollywood needs Kojima. Kojima doesn't need Hollywood. His work has now become diluted and is becoming a facsimile of what it once was.
While I understand and appreciate the idea behind this and I just about 100% agree with everything I do feel like mgs3 was the better starting place for a series of remakes. Because 3 is just a good starting point in the timeline and it sets up the character that leads up to the events of later games because of everything big boss eventually does. It's also a way to get some new blood in the series to then become further invested in the characters and eventually witness big boss' decent into this warmongering bad guy. So I would love to have these remade I personally like the idea of them coming after 3 and I think either these or an actual honest remake/reboot of peacewalker should be done after (though Id prefer these before peace walker)
I've been thinking the same thing for over 20 years so thank you for this video. I also think it would be cool for the Metal Gear 1 & 2 remakes to seem like an 80s movie. I love the idea of the Metal Gears being just slightly choppy in its animation so it looks like stop motion animation of a miniature.
both Ghost Babel and Acid are set in an alternate universe so exploring how the other timeline differs could be fun. id have Venom as the scapegoat for Peace Walker and the Phantom Pain. Hes a public figure as everyone knows he runs Outer Heaven. the big reveal would be Big Boss's role in how Venom was created and Solid's intended death at Venom's hands. Id give Venom the face mask from TPP and potentially he and BB could have a falling out.
When delta was announced I thought they were going for a full chronological remake of the saga, maybe with just a graphical update/definitive edition for mgsv. But seeing how close the remake is to the original game i don't think they are this ambitious. Maybe if delta sells very well?
I think it's good that are remaking MGS3 first, because them the devs are more experienced when they remake MS/MS2. As for title, since MGS3 become Delta, maybe a MS/MS2 remake could be Alpha, MGS1 would be MGS Beta, MGS2 Gamma, and MGS4 Epsilon.
Fucking zero point of remaking mgs3, just like remaking silent hill 2 is pointless. There's literally nothing wrong with those games and making faithful and accessible ports would be a thousand times more appreciated. We're losing so much ground in keeping gaming history accessible to newcomers and it makes me sad for the medium. I'd be happy with any remake that does significant updates or reimagining of the source material or fixes something that was broken in the game or makes standard quality of life improvements and metal gear 1 and 2 definitely fit the bill. And if a rom of the original was included I'd be over the moon. But that coming from Konami is highly unlikely.
@@AliEemanSamy-lf9gl Think about breath taking scenery and vast jungles of Kosta Rica with unreal engine 5 and mother base formula of Phantom Pain... But Nes era titles also need remakes 👍
This would be the remake to surpass remakes... I'll take one ultimate deluxe limited collector's edition with a TX-55 model while they're at it. If there's one recommendation I would make it would be to allow for different infiltration methods for replay ability, drawing inspiration from the different openings in the MSX and NES versions (infil by water vs parachute into jungle). This would give a vibe in line with ground zeroes different side ops or even TPP with its different infiltration options.
I really wish the first two Metal Gear games would get remakes. Out of all the series these two are the hardest to replay due to the very antiquated gameplay. Fun, and cool in that retro-cool way, but for many, a mess to attempt to play, and both games stories could use some refreshing as well as the gameplay. These two games BUILT the foundation that MGS would springboard into superstardom, and they deserve remakes out of the entire series.
Whilst I'm still interested in the metal gear solid 3 remake and I liked what I saw in the trailer, I think metal gear 1&2 deserve a remake, but since those remakes would basically be new games I think the team working on the remakes should prove themselves on the easier remakes first
Metal Gear 1 and 2 are literally both candidates for some of the most interesting remakes of all time. Not remaking them and instead going for MGS1 is a complete waste.
the problem I would say lies in the fact that to remake them would require a lot of creative liberties to make fit together better which Konami isn't really competent enough for and knows it so they would prefer to play it safe with something like an mgs3 remake than cause an outrage like with survive
I agree but it is not a bad idea for them to get some easy practice with going chronologically in the order.. by the time they get to Metal Gear 1 and 2 they might be ready for it. can still do Portable ops maybe and Peace Walker remakes before they get to something they have to use their own imaginations on.
Just make it a dlc for a remake. It won’t be big enough for a whole game. Probably best for another mgs1 remake in the future because it’s closest to that game timeline wise, but mostly story wise. Like this it covers the whole Gray Fox relation. So they could remake the story of portable ops (we dont need the game, we do need the story) in a dlc for the mgs3 remake as it fits this game better and also timeline wise. Gamers would get the remakes, fans also the dlc’s.
oh crap it's been awhile since ive seen a max video. I would argue the reason to start with Snake eater would be because it's the first in the timeline, and while it doesn't need a graphical upgrade it does create a baseline for how they would proceed going forwards with the upgrades. As for making modern Metal Gear 1 and 2 they would probably need to do a lot of work to the point where it would be an entire new release. a Metal gear Foxhound or something. I could see them if they did a Metal gear I do the whole split character thing again this time with Part A being the Gray fox introduction as a character and Part B being Solid snake. Some things I would add to a list of ideas for them to make it interesting to show its venom snake is to have you be able to find docs that show things like DIamond dogs works together with other PMCs in the 80s to disarm rogue nukes. Bionic arm resarch advanced to be indistinguishable from normal arms Advancements in cosmetic surgury by (Insert name here) lead to life saving shrapnal removeal surgurys Diamond Dogs dissapeared following the berlin wall coming down. small little details that could apply so much fan service to us the one who is Phantom big boss, and I think (Second Snake Venom snake)
Ideas for mg 1: 1.When snake encounters machine gun kid, kid mentions, "So you're his brother innit? I met a snake once. We were mates. Served in the 1st gulf war." And he is referring to liquid snake because liquid snake was a member of British SAS and had served in the 1st Gulf War, in a mission that mirrored bravo two zero and that he and machine gun kid were once friends. 2.quiet coming back as a recurring boss fought twice . Once after defeating shotmaker and again, before destroying metal gear tx-55. Then you can have codec calls. Snake asking legitimate big boss about a female sniper being among the mercenaries of outer heaven , to which he responds that it wasn't part of the intel. And another one , where big boss asks venom about said mercenary and even he has no clue. And after the call, he ponders but refuses to believe that she actually survived the events of tpp. And I refuse to believe she died in tpp, because I refuse to play that mission to this very day. And of course this fact of her being there but not accounted for according to intel would be a reference to mgs2 ,with Ocelot admitting to the player that the big shell incident was simply a reenactment of the shadow Moses incident but what wasn't taken into account was fatman planning to blow the big shell up sky high. 3. Some of guards in Outer Heaven, south African nationals mentioning about how south africa is going down the drain due to the corruption of the ANC, since metal gear is set in the year 1995, a year after democratic rule returned to south africa but the promises made by the ANC failed to materialise due to the ongoing corruption. And then one of supporting characters , in the outer heaven resistance, like kyle Schneider mentions the mini Civil War south Africa experienced during the transfer of power following Mandela's release and how outer heaven was involved in "keeping the peace." 4. A prologue mission where you play as gray fox commencing operation intrude N312 a brief mission that ends with him being captured and also, a gameplay element, where if you picked up the items, then when you play as snake, they won't be available until later on but if you leave them there, they'll be available for snake to pick up.
3 is the start of it all tho, it's the best way to get newer ppl into it and with 3 being the first remake that gives metal gear og and mg2 a better chance to be retold completely instead how 3 is nearly a one for one remake. MG1 and 2 aren't long, mg1 barely has a story, and mg2 is a very short story, they need to be expanded almost entirely while maintaining that MG core feeling. 3 being done first is the best way to start.
Ironically, MG1 and MG2 are the most remade games in the series. MGS is actually a remake of them, and itself was remastered as Twin Snakes. Regarding the card keys: it is no design flaw. Kojima was inspired by a zombie movie, Dawn of the Dead, in which the characters at one point are running from zombies and need to get the correct key to open a door and escape. He wanted to create that feeling in the players when they are being chased. I played it for the first time knowing this and enjoyed it, but it really is cumbersome when you are not being chased, as you said.
I don’t know if this is a hot take, but as much as I love David Hayter, the dude is 55 years old; He’s not a spring chicken anymore and I think it might not be a bad idea to get a new, younger actor to play a younger Snake. Also, if the games are gonna be combined into one humongous adventure, they could get Kiefer Sutherland back to play Venon Snake in the first half of the game and Hayter could play John in the second

David Hayter returns as Solid Snake
Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss. literal 10/10 game

My assumption is Konami is remaking the games chronologically.
Agree. It makes sense to start with your strongest card and the one that happens to be first in the timeline. Let’s hope that a mixture of good reviews, player experience and sales can give Konami the confidence that bringing MGS back to modern audiences is viable & will lead to more remakes in the series.
I think so too. And I sure do hope they continue with "Portable Ops" and "Peace Walker".
Portable Ops and especially Peace Walker I want remade. With better graphics and gamestructure, it's just MGS5 but better.
Oh and I want MG1 and 2 remade of course, like everyone else. MG2 is my second favorite in the series.

Revengeance type monologue
Venom isnt a victim though. He liked being big boss
@@ReplacedByTheEUYou can argue that about most MGS villains and their monologues about their life decisions still hold the same impact.

I was watching that one day, for the first time, and my grandmother came in and watched the whole thing with me. Among the thousands of great memories I have with her, that one is still special.
Such a heart warming story bro i wish you all the best , and enjoy the remake!

Yeh😮
That would have been ideal. :(
Konami didnt fuck anytime up. Kojima was done and tired of making MGS
In my head Cannon when you get to the roof and you have to fight the helicopter that's pequod😂

I’ve had the idea for the longest time to turn Metal Gear 1 into “MGS0: Outer Heaven.” Bullet-point summary below:
• Retconned backstory: Venom Snake gets nanomachine injections sometime after MGSV to assist with a robotic surgery done by Dr.
For example:
- Solid Snake parachutes into a jungle just south of the facility, while “Beta Squad” lands closer to the fortress to distract their defenses and allow Solid to sneak in.
At the end of the fight, the now-disfigured Venom pleads for Solid to kill him, similar to The Boss with Big Boss, but Solid refuses to do it, saying the world would be a better place “if people could just put the gun down.”
- Like MGS3, Solid Snake gets his own long ladder-climbing sequence at the end, with “Here’s To You” from MGSV playing in the background.
Finally, he bids a somewhat emotional farewell to Big Boss, remarking that that call could be the last time they talk to each other, and wishes him luck in “Zanzibaristan.” He finds it poetic that Big Boss’ ultimate plan will culminate where everything started - confirming the fan theory that Tselinoyarsk is Zanzibar Land, and setting up the MG2 remake…

castlevania remakes.
Metal Gear 1 should've been remade, not MGS3.
mgs3 still holds up well 🤩
MGS3 was probably the best choice for a remake. It has been remembered the most fondly. It also has the best example of sandbox gameplay that the games were trying to go for at the beginning
Yeh
I mean MGS3 remade first makes sense because it's the earliest in the timeline. I just hope they don't go and remake MGS1 without touching the MSX games..
They are trying win over the fans with it. I think after Delta we will See Metal gear and Metal Gear Solid 1 remake
1:20
I have absolutely no problem with such.
23:30 I think the last day on outer heaven sfm/comic's idea would be a good way to send off Venom in a penultimate cutscene or something.
The founding games of one of the biggest franchises in videogaming... sure are being left to wither on the vine. Kudos to you for coming up with these propositions, trying to help solve a real problem with Metal Gear.
If they were remade, i wouldn't mind the gameplay being like mgs1 & 2's simpler stealth systems, as opposed to mgs3's camo systems

I would love for them to be remade, but maybe not just yet....
Instead, we start with 3 as we already are, and then remake the games in in-universe chronological order.
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater [remade as Delta.]
- Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops [built within the Phantom pain engine and altered to better match it's scope rather than being just a remake of the handheld game.]
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker [as above.]
- Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes [Included in The Phantom Pain as originally planned as well as one or more additional missions where you return to it within TPP's story.]
- Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain [A graphical remaster at most, very little would need to be done to what currently exists..... put the money into finishing the game and adding the 3rd act that got cut.]
- Metal Gear [Your idea.]
- Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake [Your idea.]
- Metal Gear Solid [Full delta treatment, perhaps with additional content that had to be cut from the original.]
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty [As above.]
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots [As above, but for the love of crap trim the cutscenes or at least replace segments with playable versions.... 71 minutes at the end.... NO, show restraint.]
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance [Full remake where you better realise the original vision of the CUT ANYTHING gameplay. DO NOT lay a finger on the soundtrack or hammy acting.]
Ghost Babel, Acid, Acid 2, Mobile and even Survive too, IF they can be fit into the timeline and adjusted to be canon.
They did remake MGS on GameCube. But that game wasn't well regarded for the hardcore Metal Gear fans.
It's chronologically first so I'm ok with it being the first to be remade, next portable ops and peace walker, and MGSV remaster, and only then the Metal Gear 1&2 remake together, MGS1 and so on
They're starting from the beginning of the story, they already said why they chose mgs3 in a couple of promo videos
if they continue to remake them I'm sure we'd get metal gear 1, 2, and then drift into solid 1 2 and 4.
I can't even click on a Metal Gear video without being reminded that Bloodborne is shackled to a magical box from 2013.
The limitations of the msx2 don’t really hold the game back but i also love the old jank in games
hearing a normally very calm and composed person shout like that in the beginning sure gives a different effect to that bit...
***
"Why did you do it?", Solid Snake asked.
"I had a mentor too, once. Just like you and I. A mentor I was loyal to, and would give my life for. Until that day America used my mentor for their agenda. 1964."
"Operation Snake Eater?"
"Yes. It was the Cold War, and the world was rather simpler. Red or Blue, black or white. The Boss detected to the Soviets, but it was all a ruse. Some bastard screwed everything, and the Americans need a scapegoat. They needed someone to put on a performance and do no one in their right mind would."
"The Boss betrayed America for her selfish gain, for the lack of appreciation, for revenge. Sounds like a mean ex girlfriend ."
"Oh no, far from it. You of all people should understand, really."
"Hating on the world is one thing, Boss. But to burn it, keep the flames of war, is another. I've met wonderful people along this journey. Fox, Schneider, Jennifer, all of them deserve to live in a world where wars can end. I won't allow you and your twisted desire to take over the world."
"Is that so..
Man the roasting of Delta really gets me hyped. Konami hasn’t made a good decision since forming team silent
I hope one day I can see more of your visual novel videos, like SubaHibi, Muramasa, Fata Morgana, Dies Irae and Umineko
I hope we get a great MGS4 remake one day. Lots of potential there.
You know this guy's a hardcore fan when he uses the sountrack to Portable Ops
I agree with this, however alot of ideas from the MSX games were used in the MGS1, You'd need some super fans on the team to truly rework those games to make them work. There's also Portable Ops & Ghost Bable that could be great contestants to be properly remade.
That Deus Ex music always makes me nostalgic. I was 8 when it came out, and I played the demo for like 5 years over and over.
Very few things would make me happier than a proper remake (made with love and care) of metal gear 1 and 2.
Underrated comment and excellent observation
Make both games into one giant remake, get the gameplay from MGSD/MGSVTPP, bring back some of the old VAs and also bring some new ones
Those were some fancy ideas. You’re pretty good!
Metal Gear Solid already lowkey was a remake of Metal Gear in many ways, but I like your ideas.
His work has now become diluted and is becoming a facsimile of what it once was.
i literally NEED gray fox in a modern mgs game again I MISS HIM SO MUCH
While I understand and appreciate the idea behind this and I just about 100% agree with everything I do feel like mgs3 was the better starting place for a series of remakes.
Hand to hand boss fight in a minefield? Sign me up.
both Ghost Babel and Acid are set in an alternate universe so exploring how the other timeline differs could be fun.
id have Venom as the scapegoat for Peace Walker and the Phantom Pain.
For crying out loud Konami port MGS4 to PC already
Peace Walker must be the urgent priority
gameplay on peace walker is terrible, can't agree more, such a good game but with such a bad gameplay.
God no we had enough of big boss games. We need the origin of solid snake in outer heaven operation intrude
100% agreed
the problem I would say lies in the fact that to remake them would require a lot of creative liberties to make fit together better which Konami isn't really competent enough for and knows it so they would prefer to play it safe with something like an mgs3 remake than cause an outrage like with survive
Some things I would add to a list of ideas for them to make it interesting to show its venom snake is to have you be able to find docs that show things like
DIamond dogs works together with other PMCs in the 80s to disarm rogue nukes.
Bionic arm resarch advanced to be indistinguishable from normal arms
Advancements in cosmetic surgury by (Insert name here) lead to life saving shrapnal removeal surgurys
Diamond Dogs dissapeared following the berlin wall coming down.
small little details that could apply so much fan service to us the one who is Phantom big boss, and I think (Second Snake Venom snake)
Ideas for mg 1:
1.When snake encounters machine gun kid, kid mentions,
"So you're his brother innit?
I met a snake once. We were mates. Served in the 1st gulf war."
And he is referring to liquid snake because liquid snake was a member of British SAS and had served in the 1st Gulf War, in a mission that mirrored bravo two zero and that he and machine gun kid were once friends.
And then one of supporting characters , in the outer heaven resistance, like kyle Schneider mentions the mini Civil War south Africa experienced during the transfer of power following Mandela's release and how outer heaven was involved in "keeping the peace."
I love your ideas, please send them to Konami ASAP.
Would love to see Kiefer play Venom again, the guy loved doing it for V (even if the lines he recorded weren't exactly numerous compared to Hayter)
