exactly. this is what makes it so bewildering when people say games can't be art. its a trivial fact that they can CONTAIN art from every existing art modality. so apparently putting the multiple modalities together and adding an interactive element spoils the end result..? I just can't accept that kind of logic.
Video Games; the Avengers of the entertainment industry! When all art forms band together they can create something far bigger than any one of them could on their own. Avengers Assemble!!
I'll stick to casinos in my ps2 games. Where it doesn't require an internet connection, and I can reload a save before I lost my in-game money and try again
50-year-old woman here. I've been gaming since I was a toddler. Don't worry about people who think gaming is unattractive. You don't want to be with them anyway. If you do something you enjoy, it's quality time. Do what makes you happy. If someone think it's weird or doesn't repect that, they're not a good fit in your life.
An entire generation is between us and I think just the same as you. If they don't respect your choices and tastes, they probably don't deserve your time. Gaming and metal music are my passions and I'll keep "wasting my time" doing what I love.

I'm a 50yr old guy and have been gaming since I was 5 or 6. Now that I have the financed I have a beast mode machine and can play pretty much anything on ultra settings and not even hiccup. I love gaming and always have. Anyone who doesn't like it can either agree to disagree or find arguments that they can't beat. I have a wonderful wife who supports my gaming and has no problem with it. I'm also educated and successful not to mention a marine corps veteran. I think that debunks pretty much every stereotype myth of gamers there is. Keep on playing and keep on living.
Reminds me of the Joke about the father who is going into the room of his son: "What are you doing, son?" "I'm watching a twitch stream." "What does that mean?" "That means, I'm watching a let's play." "What does that mean?" "That means I watch other people play video games." Then the father is shaking his head and leaves the room. He says to himself: "Watching other people playing video games. ... That's just so ... absurd." And then he sits down on a couch, switches on the television and watches a football game. Maybe watching the best of the best doing e-sports may not be so different after all from watching the best of the best doing sports. I know, it's a full letter difference. That's just too much for some people.
Haha yes that’s exactly what it reminds me of too! I’m going to do a part 2 to this video hopefully up by Wednesday we’re I’m gonna discuss basically what you’ve said and explain why video games are more immersive than other arts, why it’s the same as sports and I think I’ll also discuss why people look down on it.
I guarantee you pro gamers are magnitudes more intelligent than the blokes slamming their heads into each other at great speed over and over again in an attempt to move a small ball over a short distance.
I'd probably take it a step further and say something like "that's what I wanna do" for the esports Dad might still be disappointed, but at least it's relatable. Some kids wanted to grow up to be Tom Brady. I want to grow up to be Knee.
My wife is a gamer too and when she saw this list she was angry about it. It’s clearly not taken everyone’s opinions into account. I think no matter the hobby, if some people want to rank “attractiveness” based on someone’s hobby, it sounds like a person best avoided lol

Gaming is just the new kid on the block, something to blame for all our problems. So politicians and older people don't have to take accountability for the problems they created. In the late 1400 people burnt books because it was poison to the mind, for a short time in the 1800 opera music was banned because it was poison to the mind, in the 1960s rock music was poison to the mind, in the 70s and 80s TV and D&D was poison to the mind, and in the 90s video games joined a long and ever growing list of things that are poison to the mind. Something that can be used as an easy scapegoat for the worlds problems. If history teaches humanity anything it's that humanity doesn't learn from history.
Don't get me wrong I love gaming but it isn't exactly seen as something attractive for anyone on the outside, and it will never be. People picture themselves a sweaty nerd drinking Coca cola. Similarly, for me at least, girls that are overly active on social media and put up a bunch of edited images on themselves is seen as very unattractive and tacky for me.

Video games is the reason I've never had a sip of alcohol, never did drugs, never went to a party or concert, never hung out with the "wrong crowd". Video games is also the reason why I pick up so many random skills, knowledge, or interests, where I can escape when times are rough, where I've met so many great people, and built so much social experience. Video games is just another form of literature, art, and story-telling. Same thing to books and movies.
@@temtem9255 Curious to know why you think so? If you mean friend gatherings or dinners, that's one thing. But if you mean dancing and DJs, then I strongly disagree. Girls in skimpy clothing, loads of booze, inappropriate behavior, etc. that's just not my lifestyle. I also don't think it's a healthy one in general. There's better ways to spend your time.
"Playing video games is a waste of time". For me, personally, going to club, getting so drunk that you will have a hangover for whole next day and not be able to function is a waste of time. Hell, even going to club to dance and "party" is a waste of time for me
And it does damage to your body. Your liver is taking a bartering and can lead to financial issues, drinking and driving and other things. @@AVVGaming1 I'm all for enjoying video games but this is quite a poor argument. The "alchohol always bad, drinking and driving and blackout drunk" argument gamers like to use is just as much of a hyperbole as the "videogames will ruin your life" argument. I've always had some "loner" tendencies, still do to some extent. I never did well in tight crowds and will never be nor have the desire to be the life of the party. But i made a conscious effort in my late teens/early twenties to step out of my comfort zone and tag along with my group of friends. It did wonders for my social skills. RE5 split screen with my mate in 2009, what a summer that was! You’re making me nostalgic now lol
Spot on! I know people say you’ve gotta be doing x or hustling or whatever, but it’s a persons own life. If they want to spend every minute watching paint dry and they’re happy then let them I say! There has to be a balance. You can be productive but you need time to relax and reward yourself for working
It really reminds me of the movie „momo“ where guys with cigarettes show up to convince people that they are wasting their time and should be more productive. Turns out people become more stressed and less happy. the cigarettes these guys are smoking are actually the time they’ve stolen from the people they convinced to don’t waste time.
I’d disagree with that, because where’s the discipline and hard work? Not saying you shouldn’t do the things you love, but there is a line you shouldn’t cross.
@@aggus4261 Obviously you shouldn’t spend every minute gaming, because a unbalanced life isn’t enjoyable and probably relatively short. But games train you in many aspects. Strategy games train your rational thinking and planning skills. Historical games can teach you historical facts and geography. Role-play games often give you different perspectives and broaden your understanding of people, so it gives you an important part of social competence. Of course people also should do sports and other physical stuff and people should always keep learning new things and work hard, but enjoyment is also a big part of recharging your energy.
@@K.R.98 That may be right, but is completely besides the point. You training yourself with videogames doesn't benefit a relationship. That's the whole point. You are sharing your life with someone else. You being shut off from the world, I can imagine that isn't really appealing to most women.
You know what women would find even more unattractive? A man that's willing to give up something he enjoys to please others. Hell, the reason why I even got into music and programming in the first place is due to my love of games. But simultaneously, I won't lie to myself and say that video games are the most productive hobby one can do. The fact of the matter is, we just gotta quit the cope and admit thag video games aren't as productive as we make them out to be, whilst also realising that there are many, MANY worse "hobbies" (like doomscrolling or binge-watching tv or smoking), and thar we shouldn't feel bad for playing games as long as we can balance that out with important stuff, something which a lot of the people criticising people who play video games rightfully point out is something people who do play games have quite a bit of trouble with (even me!).

Video games are the pinnacle of storytelling, instead of watching a story unfold (like reading a book or watching a movie) you, yourself get to experience the story from the perspective of the character, building your own story along with it, games can make you scared, they can make you happy, they can make you cry. Video games are incredible, and the sheer amount of skills one must have to create one is insane. I honestly think anyone who writes this list hasn’t had a proper gaming moment yet. Need to get some Skyrim or Witcher 3 on for them lol
This was done because with books you gain knowledge and a wider world view. This is not good for the ruling class where it is optimal to keep the masses sedated and stupid.
"Reading books again? Just go outside for once and play with your friends" Honestly insane to think about, nowadays you can just pretend to read a book and people think you are intelligent

I'm almost 70 now, and I love games as much as I did when I discovered them - Fallout London is a work of art! I never feared retirement, because I knew I wouldn't be bored (got plenty of other hobbies - not just games). I wish my 94 year old mother was a gamer, instead of watching TV all day - it would keep her brain active. My nephew is 29, and he's just lost his leg in an industrial accident. But he's kept his spirits up - one reason for that? He's a gamer, who can continue his hobby even without a leg! While he was in hospital, his dad put a big TV in his room, and nurses used to sit on the bed playing video games with him - they preferred that to tending all the older patients, and he was a good-looking young man!

So I’m a woman who has been gaming since I was 4 years old. It has been a huge part of my life ever since. I’ve talked to women who aren’t gamers and most of the time, their issue with gaming isn’t necessarily gaming itself. It’s the fact that a lot of women have experienced being with men who put gaming above adult responsibilities and put games above their own partner. Sadly, it is far more common than you think, which has caused negative stigma to surround the hobby in general. If that issue was far less common, I doubt the stigma would be as bad. Communication is key. Unless an emergency is happening, I would be fine if my future partner tells me “give me roughly X minutes, I’m in the middle of an online match and can’t pause.” However, if I need them after the game and I find out they just started another one, that’s a problem. The overall stigma of gaming is decreasing, which is a good thing. The ratio of male:female gamers is almost 1:1. Let’s just all be responsible and put time with our partner first. Again, communication is key.
Love this and I think you’ve identified it perfectly. It’s not just games. Any hobby that interferes with time with partner and adult’s responsibilities is always going to cause issues. I think any hobby is fine in any relationship as long as a balance is achieved and agreed! Compromise is the word. The exact thing you said. Thank you so much for sharing this comment, it’s a perfect summary!
“Video games are a waste of life. Go get a job”. I can’t say how many times I’ve heard that phrase. But as someone who has been working 40-65 hours a week for decades for what has ultimately turned out to be peanuts, I can easily say that the greatest waste of my life’s time has been working a job. My job would literally suck my soul out of my eyes if the company could see a 1% bump to their bottom line.
You know what? I’ve been doing a lot of thinking on this subject. I mainly do video game content so I’m not sure if it’s my place To make content on this, but it’s true that they push people to work long and hard. And then get a side hustle. Basically work 24/7, no fun. Then, none of these people make money except those that sell courses on how to make money. I’m thinking of maybe discussing this type of content but not sure yet. I work full time too and it seems like people who beat down on games is because it’s something that makes you happy…and that seems to upset some people
I am a woman and a casual gamer, meaning I like video games but I don't play every day, not even necessarily every week. I used to have a toxic relationship with gaming where I would spend all my free time on a competitive game and have no social life outside of gaming. When I meet a man who says he's a gamer I'm a little bit wary because a lot of the male gamers I know are hardcore gamers, meaning they play all the time, they neglect real life (studying for college for example), they prioritize gaming over doing anything else so if I call them they don't answer, they don't cook or clean so I have to do it all, some shout at their computer very agressively when they're losing, and they never want to do anything else with me than playing video games (I love being in nature for example, but I would always have to always go alone). They also often live at night, eat unhealthy and don't like any type of physical activity. So I love video games, but when a man tells me he's a gamer I'm instantly worried that he'll have an unhealthy relationship with gaming and I will be the one who has to keep his life together for him. This is not specific to men, there are a lot of women who are also like this, I wouldn't date them either. I certainly will still consider dating someone if they're a gamer, I would just be more careful to check that our lifestyles are compatible.
Most guys don’t cook or clean gamer or not, it’s a hard pill to swallow but guys just aren’t wired for that, we prefer to minimize the amount of time spent preparing or getting meals, we just want to eat and be done with it, no fan fair or extravagance. We often don’t clean cause we aren’t ever really expected to do it growing up and aren’t taught it, that and our thresholds for being grossed out or bothered by uncleanliness tends to be higher than women, not saying that’s good(I am a lot More easily bothered by uncleanliness myself), just that most guys only wanna focus on things that have immediate benefactory results, hence why most wealthy men just pay for maids. It’s not surprising when 90% history men needed mothers or maids to handle house work, we just suck at it.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people living at night, not partaking in lots of physical activity or even spending long periods doing something they enjoy. But I do agree being too aggressive over a game, ignoring too many calls (uncommunicative), and eating super unhealthy is understandably a problem.
Video games are an ultimative source of entertainment. Which absorbs and connects things like art, music, books and films into a whole It's one of the first hobbies I've ever had that I'm still into, and I don't regret wasting my time one bit Video games have shaped me as a person, taught me many simple and complex things, and pushed me on a creative path, to making art and try other things *Be proud to be a gamer* , because we're one of those people who don't look at the story from the side, but are part of the story ourselves
Yes! That’s why I made the video! Video games are the most successful art in the world at this current time. There is nothing for people to feel bad about. Nobody should feel bad about having any hobby. Life is about enjoying the ride and games have really helped me do that. Your right about the stories too. We shape the story and create the adventure, that’s creativity at its peak in entertainment
I think gaming doesn't get the credit it deserves as a form of art. I like to think of gaming as an evolution of media, like film is somewhat of an upgrade to books due to the added visuals and gaming is somewhat of an upgrade to film because the consumer can actively take part in the medium. When people tell me that gaming is a waste of time, I usually say, they haven't played the right game yet.
People who like to dog on your hobbies usually feel more miserable than you at the time of saying it and typically won’t admit it (based on my experience). There’s also this weird notion from older people that if you are doing something stationary like playing a game, they will dumb it down to “just pushing buttons” or “staring at a screen like a zombie” even though depending on the game it requires much more critical thinking and mental energy than for example: watchin TV. Something older people have done for thousands of hours. Neither does gaming suffer as much from isolation like watching TV. You can actually make friends and socialize and bond with people through video games. Older people should play video games, because it can stimulate their brain in more useful ways than ACTUALLY STARING AT A SCREEN AND JUST WATCHING IT FOR HOURS without any other additional mental tasking. Awesome essay sir!👍
Thank you for the kind words! I think it is the gap in games released. Like, older people tend to think we’re still sat here playing for pong lol. That we spend hours every day playing Pac-Man lol. They don’t understand how far gaming has come and continues to grow! There’s some good tv shows, movies etc but gaming has entered the next level. It’s unreal the games we are playing now compared to just even 10 years ago. They may think it’s just a basic hobby but it’s actually the most diverse hobby ever. You can play such a wide range of games that require different approaches. You can play online. You can become immersed in a story better than what’s in the cinema and you can be more creative than you can in other media’s. Gaming despite being the most successful media is still actually underrated by some lol
Same man, I do a lot of sim racing, and even though it's completely virtual, fake cars, you have to use your brain a lot in it(I mainly play iRacing). Similarly with Hades, another game that I'm playing a lot of right now, you have to think a lot too! There's quite a bit of strategy per run, even with the rooms being randomized, and each death is something you learn from; it's like: "Okay, that didn't work. Let's try it this way this time", and it goes like that every time.
I dont get the argument that its a waste of time to watch other play video games, mainly because most people who say that watch other people play sports like Football
It is exactly the same! People who are watching the guy saying “watching other people is a waste of time” are wasting their time watching him by his logic ool
@@AVVGaming1 Though real life hobbies can never incorporate so many things such as music, cinematography, storytelling, and long distance fun with friends like gaming can. People who talk about video games this way have never given them a chance and are imagining that every game is a loner experience of jumping on mushrooms for 14 hours straight
Also, people just hate when you enjoy other things more than their miserable and pitiful life, such hatred for such a beautiful pass time, don't let em get to you.
Gaming has been capable of producing extraordinary storytelling as early as the 80s, and it has also lent significant success to graphic artists, writers, and musicians/sound engineers who might have otherwise struggled to create their art outside of video games. Not only that, but video games are still wholly capable of doing everything other mediums do -- games often include entire novels worth of reading (sometimes even as in-game books!), tear-jerking, infectious game soundtracks are sold and streamed every day, and between visual novels, cinematic-heavy games, and telltale-esque games, movies hardly stand a chance. And of course, the biggest advantage is, video games can tell a story in ways other mediums can never do. World-building is no longer bound to the appendix, immersion drips off every wall, and character development and roleplaying advancement either places YOU directly in the action or puts you in the shoes of someone who is. While this might not apply to some multiplayer, puzzle, or simulator games, those too have their place as being better wastes of an afternoon than expensive nights out damaging your health/reputation/criminal history or poisoning your brain with doomscrolling. Many people in my life have been saved from depression, crime, financial ruin, and apathy by video games. Not recognizing your self-worth because someone thinks your hobby is unattractive? That's never saved anyone.
I was indifferent to gaming prior getting married. My wife wanted an original Xbox and our first game was Splinter Cell. We've had soooooooooo many wonderful experiences playing together or watching the other in a single player game. We don't watch tv/movies together at all. One of the secrets of a happy life.. Love what you love. Find someone who loves you. Find someone who you love. Do what you both love to do together, whatever that may be.
@@AVVGaming1 we looked at the game, but couldn't do it. The couple was heading to divorce and not respectful to each other. That isn't us and we felt bad for the characters. Though we did enjoy " a way out". Except for the shity ending.
@@jasonwojcik the ending was really tough on that how it turned you against the other lol. The story of it takes two is that they turn it around and rekindle their love for one another so that one was a much happier ending. It’s kind of a good story that helps couples remember to stick together through the hard times. A way out was great but yeah that ending is tough lol
@@kylesuds00we really enjoyed playing the Tomb Raider games from the 360 to now together. She used to hand me the controller when she couldn't get the timing right. She has mad gaming skills now 😂❤
I'm a recovering addict and honestly the video means a lot to me. I've gone back to playing minecraft, which I started playing in 2012-2013. Because of all the stressful shit in my life, playing MC again has been a huge relief. The creativity from it is even encouraging me to make art and write again. I couldn't cope before and now, I'm starting to have real fun again. But because of how many times I've heard gaming is pointless or bad for you, I've been beating myself up a lot. This video's relieved some of that guilt. So. Yeah, thank you man.
Thank you! I’m glad it made you feel better. Honestly, don’t ever beat yourself up. Some things make people happy and I don’t know why some people are intent are ruining that for people. This constant guilt of if you’re enjoying yourself you’re wasting your time? It’s all a lot of hogwash. I’m doing a new video in the future called “how much gaming is too much?” Where I’ll get into more details. And I’m so glad it’s helping you write and make art again! If you write some good stuff and make good art, let me know and we can show it on the channel in the future!
One of the fun things about being in a relationship with someone who also enjoys video games is we've been able to share games with each other. I introduced my gf to the Halo series & Skyrim. She introduced me to Stardew Valley, which we've currently been playing a ton together cause I'm hooked. I wouldn't trade the time I've spent playing games with her for the world.
I’m in a relationship the same as well. We play games together as well as separately. We’re going to play thst new super massive game The Casting of Frank Stone tonight together! Might do a video on that. Those who game together stay together!
Met two great friends from Switzerland and Australia respectively. Two years ago we all went to Switzerland to finally meet after years of playing and it’s turned into a lifelong friendship
I'm a gaming grandmother and gaming IS a beautiful hobby. I got my first game, to play on TV in my teens, just a few years after color television. I have been gaming on and off ever since. With my husband, with kids and with grandkids. Gaming can bring people of all ages together. I was playing online games 20+ years ago and enjoyed getting to know people from all over the world. Today the games are so beautiful, but not always better. Anyway, the good thing is that I can continue gaming as long as I have a few reflexes left and remember what I am doing. I will! Hopefully my husband will continue to enjoy games with me for 20+ more years. .... So all you young people.... continue gaming - just don't forget that there is a world outside as well. :-D
That's really nice. The problem is that most guys are really competitive, so they naturally want to be the best. They want to be the alpha male so to speak. That often means spending a lot of time practicing and grinding.
Normally not many people read long comments but this is important: I noticed that the gaming community is always stuck on this point. There is this strange desire to be "accepted" by the wider public, like children pining for their parent's attention. You can probably also bring the connection to high school where liking video games was associated with being a "nerd" which automatically means you cannot be cool i.e. accepted by your peers. But this feeling of exclusion is made up. Gaming is one of the most popular hobbies in the world and there is no need to get accepted by the majority. It already is the majority. Accept your hobbies as part of you and reject people who look down on you for it.
Spot on! I think we’re past the point of caring about being accepted. We’ve seen the industry grow so much now that it’s more common place and well known than a lot of things. I wanted to make this video just to basically say “we’re happy leave us alone” lol they hated gamers for a while but it looks like we won. We don’t like to shout from the rooftops or brag about it, but every now and then just want to let people know, we know lol
You can't really say that when they created a derogatory slang term "opposite of out cell". to specifically target individuals and shame them. no different then the N word.
Being a metalhead and a gamer is pretty much just fighting for an acceptence in this society. Dont wanna cry about it, im doing pretty fine. But it should not be like that. Hearing most of my life about women problems and lgbt ppl complaining about how society treats them and never ever I heard a glance about gamers or metalheads having hard time does not make me feel better either.
whenever I called a nerd I say this "The definition of nerd is somebody who is extremely knowledge about a certain subject if your not a nerd d you enjoy nothing do you know nothing if s then why do you even exist if you going to live such a stale life?"
I remember someone telling me they thought video games were a waste of time and money. Then I proceeded to inform then that actually you can buy games second-hand and then resell them to get some of your money back. They still believed it was a waste of money and time. Some people are honestly stupid.
Haha I know! I love buying games. I’m not a fan of the digital marketing games because I like having the physical copy because they can fluctuate in value. Some older games that were worth $20 back in the day are now worth $100s! I think some people just decide they’re gonna hate something and that’s that. At that point, nothing will sway them, even actual proof that contradicts their beliefs.
Not to mention all the great games that came out on the 360. If people are dead broke they can still pick up a console with a whole haul of stuff for under £100.
The ones who complain about gaming the loudest will also be the ones on the couch consuming hours and hours of television a week while they doomscroll their feeds. That 'poll' don't mean anything, who did it ask, how many did they ask, how old were they? People put way too much stock into the endless polls being reported. I am over 50 and never once in my entire life was I ever 'polled'. For anything. Hard to take them serious, as I also know no one who was polled. They're all BS for 💩heads who can't make their own decisions.
You are absolutely right in being sceptical about these polls. I have studied statistics several years at uni and know that you have to consider not just the size of the sample but also what the sample is and if it actually is a random sample or not. If it's not a random sample, it's pretty useless. It's like only asking tall people in a survey and then claiming that the average human height is 190 cm. Doesn't matter if you avsked 100 tall people or 1 000 000 tall people, the result is still biased since it's not a random sample and does not represent the average human.
I have seen the poll a few times, I have heard it being discredited as a synthesized meme. Dunno for sure, but anything convenient I see online I assume it is fake or mostly fake But this is very classic post-modern analysis, how media is so prevalent in society that people will reference a fake scenario in media rather than a real life example. treating media as though it is more true than reality, known as simulacra An example may be like complaining about how horrible men are and referencing Peter Griffin to demonstrate your point. This has been extended to treating meme polls as real, or creating fake short form videos to distill a complaint (ex. Cheese cake factory girl)
@@AVVGaming1 I bet it’s fake cuz I don’t see how so many real women would consider gambling worse than video games or figurine collecting (and say bird watching of all things is the 10th worst hobby a guy can have)
@@fnaf1983-RWQFSFASXCbecause to women gambling is a huge risk, but at least there’s the possibility of a payday. gaming to them seems like a fruitless endeavor
Since I have memory, gaming has been part of my life with Age of Empires I in Windows 98, so honestly, I can't imagine my life without videogames. Thanks to the endless genres: Arcade, Racing, RTS, Shmups, Airplane games, Space, Story-based games, Visual Novels, Metroidvanias, Musical games, etc. I have enjoyed infinities of worlds and entertainment that isn't comparable to TV or Movies, and I still enjoy them as an adult. So no, playing videogames is never a waste of time if all those memories which you forged with them are happy and enjoyable.
Well, YOU don’t. And that’s awesome - I hope there are a decent number of women like you out there! But it seems you are in the minority, not the majority, unfortunately.
internet trolling is called humor, it's peak satire, if you don't like it? too bad, welcome to earth. the fact that women have lists at all is just misandry becuz guys never would. we genuinely think all their interests are awful. if guys would rather gamble over spending time with women doesn't that just mean women are worse to men then gambling?
yeah I think that list was just what people said, they probably didn’t put them on a list and told them to rank it. Most probably didn’t even think of gambling and other things
@@Anotherhumanbean12345i think you missed the point. Trolling is fine when its funny or in good spirits. But people who go out of their way to be weird, and make people miserable is what they were talking about here. Think of it like taking a prank too far, not knowing when to draw the line. It might be easier to put into perspective that way
As a gamer all I can say is I don't care about what other people think about gaming. I'd rather be a social outcast and play video games because it's what I enjoy over being everybody's friend by not playing.

Ehh, Call of Duty has lost its touch. Try playing some indie games, they really slap and have much higher skill ceilings with much less toxicity. Been playing Ultrakill lately, I really recommend it
Those who say video games are a waste of time should ask themselves what they spend their time on. Many watch TV or listen to music. Others read books. Yet others do gardening. All hobbies can be considered a complete waste of time, depending on who you ask.
Yes and I was sure hobby meant that. Something done purely for fun. Not particularly needing to result in income or something like that. I work, do what I need to do, but when I’m not doing that, it me time. I use video games then. I don’t want to spend every minute of my life not doing what I love
The fact video games are an interactive experience instantly puts it above 90% of all other entertainment mediums. Video games cover such a broad spectrum of enjoyment and of different experiences that in many cases you simply cannot get anywhere else. Furthermore, because it's not passive entertainment like movies or books, you are engaging more parts of your brain, meaning you are more likely to absorb your experiences and learn from them, and consequentially committing these lessons to memory. There is a reason you remember every inch of that one level in Halo you played 16 years ago, while you can barely remember the plot of the first alien movie. Marrying the psychological mechanisms behind video games and incorporating them into learning is an active field of research that shows huge promise. Video games are not just a waste of time: Video games are everything.
I absolutely agree, the media is only there to make any problem your problem, the side effects of playing games is so much tolerable than the things that people do and don't judge, how come you judge a man play video games in his free time but not judge a man who always scrolls on instagram or tiktok. Just be yourself and don't feel pressured by what others say, they probably gaslight themselves more than you do.
Spot on! Video games just seem to get the most attention and quite frankly I’ve been on tik tok, I’ve been to the movies and I’ve watched Netflix and gaming offers way more than all of those. It is the ultimate level of entertainment and keeps most of us sane in this world. I’ve been working non stop recently and the after work I play a couple of hours…for no cost. Keeps me disciplined in some ways!
the only difference between video games and a game is that one is on a computer screen yet one is badly viewed and the other one is a "normal thing to do"
Exactly! I think maybe in 20 years time they will be held in the same respect as other medians. Heck, they might even see movies as the odd thing to do in the future, especially after the recent films we’ve seen coming out lol
Very important to remember about the argument that playing/watching video games is a waste of time, is that you could use your time way more constructive and productive by watching reality TV shows, sitcoms and ofcours sports. Nothing is more fullfilling and beneficial to your life than watching a 3h snooker turnament.
Hahahaa love this comment! Great advice and makes the point! The world is filled with hypocrites and it’s so annoying that gaming is the one they pick on!
Absolutely love this perspective! Gaming is more than just a pastime-it's a beautiful hobby that brings people together, fosters creativity, and offers endless adventures. Thanks for highlighting the positive side of gaming!
I am a woman and a gamer so this is wild to me. Also I remember a family member quoting an ACTRESS on how playing video games is a waste of time. Because watching her shows on Netflix is what? They were not even educational programmes. Also the gaming industry employs a lot of very talented actors. The double standards in that statement are crazy.
Yes but that is outdated now. Video games have gotten to the point where more actors will be working in games. Would be funny if the example she used, the actress, one day appeared in a video game! lol that’d be the ultimate “I told you so!” Moment lol
It's more than a hobby for me to be honest. In one hand, it's just a fun hobby depending on the genre or specific game. But on the other, it's a medium to understand the world we live in, both physical and metaphysical. I equate it to learning, play, and an amalmagation of so many mediums of art be it literature, music, and cinematography. It's interactive philosophy. All of which has the same purpose. I also love how varied they are. There are games where you can just "turn your brain off." Then there are games so thought-provoking that I never forget them. I never even saw games as a form of escapism but rather a side-effect of it.
Completely agree with you and that’s the thing they don’t take into account when they make those lists. They don’t understand how varied the gaming world is. It’s not just one type of game. It’s such a variation and I have had video games inspire me, comfort me, educate me, they really are a form of art that offers so much. These type of lists can only be made with the thought of video games being one type of game. Has to be.
When my dad went to Iraq all those years ago, all I had back then was my mom and my GameCube. I spent many nights trying to convince my mom to let me stay up past my curfew for just a little while longer so I could play some more Double Dash and Sunshine. I was a pretty lonely kid back then, but the games I had brought me a level of joy and excitement that I really needed at that time. Then my brother was born, and we grew up playing games together. My best friend from high school moved to another state years ago, and although we can’t spend physical time together anymore, we still regularly play video games together, as we have for many years. It’s an activity that helps keep us connected-a fun thing to do together despite the distance that keeps us apart. I know people have their opinions about video games, but I can’t deny the positive impact they’ve had on my life. Some may call it a waste of time, but I honestly don’t care in the slightest since I am having so much fun!
What a lovely story! I’m going to do a part 2 on this subject and just discuss all the great thing’s gaming provided and this story is an example! By the way double dash was awesome and I spent so many hours on sunshine! So so many! Super smash melee, Luigi’s mansions, Zelda wind waker, man the GameCube was such a good console!
I play a lot of OSRS, the girl im seeing would often watch in her downtime and when we weren't together would join discord and was able to hang out with me and was entertained with watching. After a few months I managed to convince her to make an account. Now she passively has 100s of hours playing in this year alone. I mean she almost rarely plays unless i'm online but she completely understands, fits in with the community and enjoys the dopamine hits at each step of progress as opposed to sitting on social media in her downtime watching brain numbing content.
I think if anyone is honestly willing to give a game a proper try, they will always end up enjoying it! Also, the fact you found someone who got involved in your hobbies, because they make you happy, and wants to just be involved in what you enjoy, is amazing! That is as good as it gets! Well done!
That moment when you realize that women just fundamentally dislike men is a hard pill for lots of dudes to swallow. In fact some never do,.and they spend their lives chasing something that doesn't exist. To the young men out there: you can safely ignore about 90% of what women say. Just do your thing.
This guy speaks truth, women will absolutely break every standard they say they have for "the right man". If she wants to be with you, she will make excuses and exceptions to be with you. If she doesn't want to be with you, no amount of listening or conforming to her will change that.
Great, positive video and I love it BUT 6:24 I think it's pretty simple, a lot of women just play tiny browser or mobile games to pass time, they aren't actually gaming for hours for the most part or ever take the medium seriously at all. That and even the few women who are actual hardcore gamer I'm sure would still be much into a man who spend all his time "provinding" for them while they sit at home playing the games.
Yes I think that’s correct. I’m going to do a part 2 and address the “attractiveness” thing more and in that video I’m gonna find the stats of what % of women play video games of mobile games are excluded. It’ll be really interesting to see I think! Thanks for the kind words about the video by the way!
@@AVVGaming1 Blimey! I'm a 67 year old woman and a hardcore gamer. I've been playing games since that table-tennis game came out in the 70's. I was playing RPGs right from the start with the likes of Daggerfall (First of the ES games). None of my partners have ever had a problem with it, though, because they've been gamers themselves!! At the age I am now, I'm thankful because gaming keeps me sharp, I have excellent reaction times (like when I'm driving), and sometimes gaming has been a life-saver when I've been depressed or suffering with an anxiety disorder. I'm semi-retired now, which is ace cause I have even more time for gaming! I should add that I know quite a few female gamers of various ages.
I claim a lot of my best attributes to gaming. I started at an early age I was born in 91 and was gaming by 94. I have a really good memory, good motor skills, problem solving skills, creativity and a bunch of other things. I'm not one of those people that just sits around and plays games, I work, I go to the gym, I hang out with my friends, and in my free time I'll game for an hour or two. If that makes someone not like me, that's totally fine I'll continue not giving a shit what they think and being happy

When I was in my early 60s I became fascinated watching my husband play Skyrim. He got me my own copy of the game and the rest is history. It's a great hobby when you're older and going out every night has lost its appeal, and a lot more fun than watching TV. I've put several thousand hours into video games, the good ones are fantastic. I'm playing Mass Effect Trilogy right now, unbelievably good!
"Video games are a waste f time, ick" Woman proceeds to watch Married at First Site, which is totally high brow and intellectually fulfilling. Seeing marriage perverted for "reality" TV has more worth than puzzle solving, and basic mechanics that engage our brains, socialising online, or experiencing damn good stories. Obviously men, we're the one's wasting our time
Honestly I could play a video game, about a talking Bandicoot, who runs across a map jumping over TNT boxes and think its cool. But one look at Married at First Site, I will say "oh come on! This is so stupid!" shows how silly shows like that are! lol
A game on sale for $5 to $30 gives me more enjoyment than a $100÷ dinner. Why spend thousands to travel the depressing real world when i can explore beautiful fantasy worlds for a fraction of the price.

Hypocrite. So games should be tolerated but not books? This is why you are so hated. You gamers believe your hobby is superior and everything else is automatically boring

They give good opinions and I know my videos are far from perfect, audios dodgy at times and sometimes I ramble, but they support me every video and that’s my main reason for pushing on!
I love video games but I think the point you made at about 13:10 is crucially important and a valid reason why many people have the disposition towards video games that they do. I’ve met many people who are miserable losers because they won’t do anything to improve their life and just want to game all day. I’ve also felt this pull to play video games myself when I have other goals and responsibilities that should have priority. Yea tv and other forms of entertainment can have this effect too but for many people games are by far the most addictive
Yes I’m going to do a part 2 on this and cover this part in more detail. Because, I think in this video I mainly discussed finances but I want to discuss this side of things. More about the balance and the “guilt”. That’s what I want to discuss that voice in the back of your head. Got the title now “how much it too much gaming?” Thank you! You’ve inspired my next video!
Want to know something interesting? I’ve done it for two videos on my channel so far and they’ve both done really well! Maybe it’s the music that’s the secret! Skyrim and Oblivion alongside Witcher 3 have some of the most beautiful ambient music I’ve ever heard in a game!
I am looking forward to becoming a gamedev. My parents look at games skeptically, but as I grew older, I could express my opinion better. I started doing analogies to movie industry, as well as writing (because if you think about it, games are indeed just movies, series or books, where you are the main character, unless it’s a competitive game, but that’s a whole different story). Now, gladly, my parents became somewhat interested in my hobby (gamedev, not gaming yet), even started asking things about it sometimes. I think making similar analogies as I did for them might actually help understand games more for people that are detached from gaming.
That’s the thing, I wanted to get into game development as a kid but my parents said it was for children and to do something else. Now you see how much money you can earn in gaming, it’s the best industry to get into! Follow your dreams and make it happen!
I started writing stories because of games. You're absolutely right: games are just highly interactive stories. You don't just get to imagine the location the characters visit: you can explore it yourself. You can get so much extra information about the world because you're not confined to what's important to carry a plot or develop character.
This sort of poll is why Cobbler's Law is important to keep in mind while on social media: _If you see something stupid on the internet and it pisses you off, it's probably not real and just some jerkoff farming rage clicks_
Yes and there’s so much of that online nowadays. I made this video for those who would believe this type of list and feel they have to change who they are to attract someone which isn’t the case
Wonderful video, dude ! I am 34 yo, medical doctor in Romania. I cannot tell you how hard it is to battle the mentality of "video games are a waste of time/for children" here in East Europe. Most of my family and friends just tolerate it but other people are straight up repulsed when I say that I play video games. But that hasn't discouraged me. For me it's just a filter to see who's open minded.
I've been gaming since the 70's. I am almost 70 yrs old and I still game to this day. I will never stop. For the past 3 yrs I've been playing 7D2D. And from that I've actually learned to code XML. I live alone, retired. This is how I choose to live out the rest of my life. Thank You for making this video. You expressed every single thought I have on the subject. 20 years ago or so I would have been you. Shouting from the mount and soapboxing injustice. But I find I'm not so good at raving anymore. Sometimes the words don't come. So Thank You for running with the torch. Gamers forever! They can't game or don't like it because they are jealous of our problem solving and intellect.
Actually dark souls games and KCD actually taught me a lot of perseverance. I didn’t think I could do those games but I Learned that sticking to something and not giving up rewards you in the end. @@AVVGaming1 100% agree! It's just so much that can be explored through games, and since you play alongside the characters, you feel it deeper than ever
I met my girlfriend (who i live with and weve been together for over 5 years) and all my closest friends through gaming. Im so passionate about gaming that i study 3D enviroment art specifically for game dev in no small part due to a desire to give back to the art form i love so much. When i talk to people about it its very rare that i get negative reactions with people usually being really interested in hearing about it. But of everyone ive spoken to the few who have negative attitudes towards gaming are more often than not, awful, miserable people. Never let people look down on you for gaming. Even if it where JUST affordable entertainment it would be worth doing but id argue that gaming is also more than that. Weather its the experiences you can have, people you can meet, or art and stories to learn from and be inspired by, gaming can enrich your life in many ways. If someone can't see that then thats their problem not yours
Lovely story and a great example of how gaming is more than just the actual game. It’s the people we meet, the creativity it inspires and the love it bloomed in your case! Thank you for sharing your story and I also am obsessed with 3d environments in gaming lol
The fact that video games placed above gambling tells me everything I need to know. The survey is wrong. That and online trolling. Those should be above video games. Either the women surveyed weren't random people and had heavy biases or the numbers were straight up fabricated. Something is going on. Maybe they're old women, but even then, Candy Crush should be pulling through there. Video games are honestly one of the most varied, diverse, and adaptable forms of media I can think of. It can mimic TV shows and movies, teach skills, allow you to interact with other people and build relationships (as a U.S. citizen, my older sister found her husband in Scotland over a shared interest in livestreaming horror games), and provide endless entertainment with countless genres. What CAN'T video games interact with? Eating and drinking, as much as it comes up, is never comparable from video games to real life. What else? I dunno, scented candles? Anything with just sight and sound can, with enough time, be implemented into a video game in some form that you can interact with.
Love this! I honestly think the list was made by a certain group of people who probably spend all day on social media but somehow see a video games as a waste of time. Its a list mean to shock. It may be signed by “all women” but it’s certainly not got all their votes. You can already see in the comments section a lot of females would place video games either not on the list at all,but definitely below where it is. It’s meant to shock and go viral (which it did) but if they took video games off the list, and left the rat as it is, would anyone have seen that? Probably not. So the irony is, they actually benefit from the popularity of video games lol. Also, my wife is American and she met some Scottish people online too as well. Gaming truly is beautiful
I think a lot of women don't even make the connection that mobile games ARE video games. Some really do think everyone who games is some fat, pimply guy that sits in front of WoW for 14 hours a day.
I paid $350 for a console, $180 for 5 games, $100 for controllers. In total, $630 for at least 11000 hours of entertainment stretched over 12 years. I paid $0.05 per hour for that entertainment. I do my homework before I buy a game insuring I'll be interested in playing it. I choose my purchases wisely and makes for a cheap hobby. The titles I chose have a "stat" page and one stat is hours/days played. Made it easier to do the math.
That’s exactly right! and that’s math is based off you quitting gaming rihht this second when in reality you could arguably get another 12+ years on top with the same games! Gaming is the most financially valuable hobby in that you get such bang for your buck! Very lucky to be a gamer!
As a gamer myself, I can imagine why that poll turned out how it did. I have never seen such a multitude of people show so many toxic traits within the span of 15 minutes in any other hobby than gaming - and usually it's guys showing them. The only mainstream movie I ever saw a sizeable amount of people show red flags was the relatively recent barbie movie. I have never heard of any non-celeb music star be a hassle to deal with - literally every musician I ever met was super chill and nice to be around. And artists? While movie-clichees exist, I doubt anyone is taking the frustrated-artist-throwing-fits-while-creating trope seriously. And that's why I think gaming gets so much more negative attention than other mediums. Gaming may be a beautiful art form, and an amazing kind of entertainment, but there are so many games in the mainstream that just bring out the worst in people - FIFA, CoD, Battlefield, literally any battle royal game, LoL, just to name a few. I wouldn't want to date someone who I can't be sure to talk to safely while they're "relaxing in front of the screen". Like it or not, that seems to be the picture prevalent in women - perhaps even women who happen to be gamers.
Yes and I think I missed those kind of points when making this video. I’m going to do a part 2 and discuss more about the art of gaming and sort of address exactly what you’re talking about. The art of gaming, the bad side of gaming and everything you’ve mentioned. It’ll be up in 2 weeks and hopefully it’ll be a better video. Thank you for your feedback!
Life is about experiencing the world and tell stories. Telling stories is what brought people together. Playing videogames is just as part of this world as any other thing. They have brought more people together than films or music combined.
The funny thing about this is Games have all the 3 things you mentioned Games (obviously) Music and film. Games (gameplay) Music (some of the best music you will hear are in games) Film (Cutscenes is like watching a film/ TV series sometimes) There’s even games like Detroit Become Human, A dark pictures Anthology Until Dawn and more that are like films So as gamers we get the best of all 3 and at the end of the day if someone doesn’t appreciate your hobbies then there not the type of person you want to be with/ around.
@@sskuk1095 yes and honestly being addicted to gaming is not such a bad thing. That’s why when publishers sneak gambling in there it’s so annoying! It’s taking advantage of them.
Far as I can tell this chart has no real source and seemed to just made up for a tik tok video. But yeah the size of gaming being basically the most common hobby in the world based on revenue but social stigma of still being like it's the 90s is very odd in my opinion. I guess it's just something that Gen X and boomers refuse to change their opinions on and those are the people who have these opinions. They grew up with movies and TV and basically no one has a social sigma around that anymore so seems to be very generational. Gaming probably won't have a stigma in 30 years time
To be honest it's so common that it's kinda not interesting anymore. If 15 years ago I met someone that was into gaming I would be happy, we would talk a lot about games etc. Now, playing candy crush on your phone is considered gaming, everyone does play from time to time, which is egotistically kinda of a shame. I liked when it was a niche thing, now it's kinda watered down. My opinion ofx
Thank you for making this. I'm an indie game dev, and I LOVE making games. The first game I ever played was PONG, and I was hooked at age 7. I honestly think games are about to (in the process of now...) replace movies, music, books, and every other form of entertainment. And, sure, women think games are for losers. But those women LOVE a rich game dev. Funny how that works...
Haha thanks for the kind words and awesome comment! That’s awesome that you make video games, I bet it’s such an addictive process that feeling on making progress on it each day. Games are a collection of all media’s past part and combined into one. Some people just haven’t experienced them so can’t understand what it means.
@@AVVGaming1 Thank you so much, and you're entirely correct. It's addictive. Sometimes I forget to eat while I'm working on a game. I love making games much more than playing them, but playing them is the B-Side of the process. That's what makes it addictive. And you're right about the nature of the medium. It's music, it's animation, it's voice acting, it's writing, it's programming, it's physics. You have to be a well-rounded artist and an engineer and computer scientist at the same time. But, the best part, it's that people LOVE games so much. Everyone does. It's an incredibly human thing. But my cat plays KittyBall with me with pingpong balls, so I can't say it's unique to humans. I encourage you and everyone else who adores playing games to learn how to MAKE GAMES. You can learn on Fortnite, Fortnite makes it VERY easy to make a game.
Remember kids, those who say videogames are a waste of time will lose against you in a 1v1 on Rust. No but seriously when I asked my (super controlling) GF what she wanted to do that night, she said she wanted to watch some reality tv. I brought out my laptop to play some Titanfall, but she said "Its obvious you like your game more then me". I asked her what she meant by that, and she was very adamant that I quit gaming forever. I said I prefer Intellectually stimulating movement shooters then reality tv. She said that if I didn't stop gaming, she would leave. I've loved gaming since I was a child on the Wii, decided that if she doesn't want to let me do one of my favorite activities, mabye we werent fit for each other. She stormed off to our room, put all her stuff in a suitcase, and stormed out. That night, I touched my Gaming PC for the first time since she moved in (5 months). My friends from College were online, and so we played some Fortnite for a few hours, then went to bed. When I took a walk the next day, I saw my ex, with some other dude. In that moment I decided I made the right choice, as no one should prevent you from doing the things you love (unless its illegal which in that case yes prevent it from happening). I'm now with another gamer, and we play Minecraft and Helldivers together. Much happier now.
I love Gaming and spent more than 1.700h in some of my favourite games. So its save to say I'm a Gamer. I think even tho many female gamers have joined the community we can't forget that in many games Male Player worsens the experience, especially for female players. So assuming that they asked only woman I understand why the chart turned out like this.
Not to say that there aren't nice Male players out there. I just met a lot more that were very rude and made me feel like shit only because they knew Im a Girl. So yes, Gaming brings out the worst in many Guys I met and thats very unattraktiv
I also find it crazy when (usually men) say video games or whatever are lame or a waste of time, but then enjoy watching football/ playing fantasy football. It always seemed so hypocritical to me
I've played video games since the early 1980's and I've always believed they are as valid an entertainment medium as anything else, especially in terms of story driven games which are basically interactive movies. I find attacks on people who play games quite hypocritical. As a female gamer I find it difficult to get on with other women because of their ignorant attitude towards video games

"That means, I'm watching a let's play." "What does that mean?" "That means I watch other people play video games." Then the father is shaking his head and leaves the room.
“Life is about wasting your time doing things you enjoy.”

Obviously you shouldn’t spend every minute gaming, because a unbalanced life isn’t enjoyable and probably relatively short.
But games train you in many aspects. Strategy games train your rational thinking and planning skills. Historical games can teach you historical facts and geography. Competitive games train your reflexes and intuition and cognitive abilities.
Phantasy-games improve your imagination.

Long ago, books were getting just as much fire as gaming by popular opinion. I believe that one day we will romanticize playing videogames on a rainy day just like we do books.

@@Bleilock1 Where are you from?

I mainly do video game content so I’m not sure if it’s my place
To make content on this, but it’s true that they push people to work long and hard. And then get a side hustle. Basically work 24/7, no fun. Then, none of these people make money except those that sell courses on how to make money. I’m thinking of maybe discussing this type of content but not sure yet. I work full time too and it seems like people who beat down on games is because it’s something that makes you happy…and that seems to upset some people
Speak the truth!!
Which absorbs and connects things like art, music, books and films into a whole
It's one of the first hobbies I've ever had that I'm still into, and I don't regret wasting my time one bit
Video games have shaped me as a person, taught me many simple and complex things, and pushed me on a creative path, to making art and try other things
*Be proud to be a gamer* , because we're one of those people who don't look at the story from the side, but are part of the story ourselves
I am proud to be a gamer!!! Other people don't understand :(
People who like to dog on your hobbies usually feel more miserable than you at the time of saying it and typically won’t admit it (based on my experience).

There's quite a bit of strategy per run, even with the rooms being randomized, and each death is something you learn from; it's like:
"Okay, that didn't work. Let's try it this way this time", and it goes like that every time.
anti hobbyists when people:

💯 this is the best and most important thing! If you try to force that relationship it will always end in tears!

Normally not many people read long comments but this is important:
I noticed that the gaming community is always stuck on this point.

Dunno for sure, but anything convenient I see online I assume it is fake or mostly fake
But this is very classic post-modern analysis, how media is so prevalent in society that people will reference a fake scenario in media rather than a real life example. treating media as though it is more true than reality, known as simulacra
An example may be like complaining about how horrible men are and referencing Peter Griffin to demonstrate your point. This has been extended to treating meme polls as real, or creating fake short form videos to distill a complaint (ex. Cheese cake factory girl)
Spot on! I’d argue gaming gives more than doom scrolling! I am not sure the poll took real people’s votes and is more there to create reaction.

I need to pick up gaming! Anything for women to leave me the fuck alone
Hahahaha that honestly just made me burst out loud laughing
This is probably generational, as many younger women are gamers themselves these days.
Yes exactly! So obviously they didn’t get to have a vote on this list and yet it’s been signed “by women” which is what is messed up.

It's part of your comments now. :)
@@Cyan37 thank you mate! If you have any other gems that suited any other videos please pop them in!
Ooh, what are the latest games you've been playing?
I claim a lot of my best attributes to gaming. I started at an early age I was born in 91 and was gaming by 94. I have a really good memory, good motor skills, problem solving skills, creativity and a bunch of other things. I'm not one of those people that just sits around and plays games, I work, I go to the gym, I hang out with my friends, and in my free time I'll game for an hour or two. If that makes someone not like me, that's totally fine I'll continue not giving a shit what they think and being happy
Haha love this comment! That’s exactly it. Most TH-camrs are gamers of old which shows the creativity it inspires. If you can fit gaming into your life and do everything you need to, why would you stop? Besides whoever wrote this list is someone I’d avoid like the plague lol

Great! I’m in my 60s as well and love my games, though I’m into sports and racing titles mostly.
And now i need to replay Andromeda again...thanks for that!
Just wish games like Skyrim would have integrated coop in the original version.
@BFG-hv2ml I would hate that. If I could I would make ESO single player.
"Video games are a waste f time, ick"

Exactly! And we can visit places we may never get to see. A lot of us don’t have the budgets to travel across the whole globe. Some of the worlds you can visit in games live with you forever. What’s your favourite game world?

I live in Poland. In middle school my Polish Language teacher went on a tantrum, screaming angrily at the kids saying "You would rather collect your stupid little coins in a VIDEO GAME then read the obligatory books". I'm sure I wasn't the only one thinking: Yes, I would rather play witcher 3 than read a XIX century books.
If you had a list of things “I could do” versus Witcher 3, I don’t think anything will beat it lol Witcher 3 is my favourite video game of all time! CDPR one of the best game developers too!
Hypocrite. So games should be tolerated but not books?
This is why you are so hated. You gamers believe your hobby is superior and everything else is automatically boring
As soon as you realize "Wasting your life" is code for "You're not doing something that benefits me or others" you can comfortably tell all those people that want things from you you'll be busy "wasting your life."
See I’m starting to think you’ve got a strong point here. Why do they push the whole “work harder” and you should be working every minute thing? And yet…what % of people live pay check to pay check..makes you wonder who’s pushing that agenda. Just thinking out loud
@@AVVGaming1 Whats funny is you're the exception to what I said. You took the content consumption of gaming and turned it into content creation through this channel.

Basically if a hobby competes for attention, resources or status, it's seen as a threat.
Exactly! That’s the long and short of it! If a hobby is a hobby I think lol
No way, man put Skyrim ambiance music as a background music of the video.
This made the video more enjoyable ngl!
This sort of poll is why Cobbler's Law is important to keep in mind while on social media:
_If you see something stupid on the internet and it pisses you off, it's probably not real and just some jerkoff farming rage clicks_

If one of my daily motivations to persevere in this world is "I've beaten Consort Radahn", then I think games do their job pretty well
Actually dark souls games and KCD actually taught me a lot of perseverance. I didn’t think I could do those games but I Learned that sticking to something and not giving up rewards you in the end. You can do anything you put your mind to! Gaming has lots of little lessons and motivations hidden within

Never let people look down on you for gaming. Even if it where JUST affordable entertainment it would be worth doing but id argue that gaming is also more than that.
"playing or watching video games are wasting time" they are right, instead of playing video games we can split the atom like them 🙃

@@CPT_Solid_Snake absolutely! Awesome to hear you are doing well and able to still enjoy gaming!
Thank you for your feedback!
the fact that online trolling is ranked as more attractive(or at least less repulsive) than gaming is genuinely outrageous.
The fact it’s considered a hobby is just as outrageous lol who honestly enjoys that? But yeah it really makes the list look ridiculous
Life is about experiencing the world and tell stories. Telling stories is what brought people together. Playing videogames is just as part of this world as any other thing. They have brought more people together than films or music combined.
The funny thing about this is Games have all the 3 things you mentioned Games (obviously) Music and film.
Games (gameplay)
Music (some of the best music you will hear are in games)
Film (Cutscenes is like watching a film/ TV series sometimes)
There’s even games like Detroit Become Human, A dark pictures Anthology Until Dawn and more that are like films
So as gamers we get the best of all 3 and at the end of the day if someone doesn’t appreciate your hobbies then there not the type of person you want to be with/ around.
The fact that video gaming is less popular than gambling is mind boggling to me!

Haha thanks for the kind words and awesome comment! That’s awesome that you make video games, I bet it’s such an addictive process that feeling on making progress on it each day.

So assuming that they asked only woman I understand why the chart turned out like this.
