  • This time we look at the newest addition to the channel; a 2024 Ducati Streetfighter V4. We cover first impressions, take it for a spin, and compare it to a Panigale V4 side by side. We find many of the common complaints for the Panigale are addressed with the Streetfighter (seating position and heat), but some new drawbacks are added with the Streetfighter. Find out which one may be best for you in this video.
    As always, thank you for watching.

    All the nuts of a sports bike without the crappy ergos. Very unique looking machine. Sounds amazing too. VERY thirsty, however.

    I have a 2022 Streetfighter V4S and I love the bike. The only time wind is an issue is on the highway on windy days but other than that, it’s not too bad. Makes a huge performance difference with the full akrapovic exhaust with the upmap.

    The Puig screen really helps with the wind, also the style of helmet.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ll have to check out the Puig screen. I’ve seen people comment certain screens didn’t help with the wind, I’m sure it depends on rider stature. At least for me, the helmet doesn’t seem to matter. The issue is the wind to the chest more than anything. It won’t kill you of course but longer rides it gets annoying having to fight that wind. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Nice video 😊 As a Ducati fan I have to say that as much as I love the Panigale v4 the streetfighter v4 is my favourite especially for the type of riding I’m doing around Sydney some nice roads with some twists it being very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing 😊

      Yeah man! It surprised me how much I liked the SFV4. I’m hoping maybe a little flyscreen will help a little with the wind buffeting. I guess it’s hard not to enjoy any Ducati when you live in Sydney. Ride safe man, thanks for the support. 👊🏽.

    When I seen you rolling up at the stoplight the bike looks pretty insane. The cool thing about the SFV4 is that it looks extremely unique and it stands out in a good way.

    Awesome comparison! Been loving my V4R and that motor. Buddy just picked up a SF SP2 and it's been neat seeing the differences. One thing to add, the M1KR has the full RR motor with the shift cam versus the S1KR which does have the watered down version

    Great review video. I have a ‘24 SFV4S and a V4R. The SFV4S is a fun bike to ride. The ergonomics and performance of the bike are awesome. I found that putting it in reduced power mode to be the best output for it coupled with dynamic chassis set up. 165HP really seems like the sweet spot. In full power dynamic mode, the bike is a monster that tries to kill you. It’s exciting, but scary. The agility of the bike is great as well. The wheel base is longer than the Panigale, so it’s very comfortable to cruise. Overall, if I had just one bike, this would be it. It’s the perfect versatile bike, you can really chill on it or be a complete hooligan. The heat management is much better, there really isn’t a heat issue like the Panigale even in summer.
    For me, the SFV4S isn’t a panigale without fairings, it’s a very unique proposition. Could be I’m comparing it to the V4R, which is completely different in engine power, power delivery, and character to the non R panigales with 1103 engine which is used in the SFV4. To me they are completely different experiences. Also, if you put carbon wheels on the SFV4, chefs kiss, won’t regret it. This bike really responds to the reduced rotational mass. The wind at higher highway speeds is awful. I found that you have to use a race helmet, like the Pista and slightly leaned forward ride position and the ride greatly improves at those speeds. I tested 4 different helmets. Even a small windscreen up front like the Rizoma doesn’t help. I’m 6’ tall, so if I sit straight up, my head falls just outside the aero bubble and I would catch the wind under my helmet. It was much better ride with no windscreen, a very aerodynamic helmet, and a slightly leaned forward body position at higher speeds.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for all the info! Great hearing the experience from someone who owns both an R and an SFV4.
      Interesting note about the windscreen. I was hoping a little fly screen might help, but makes sense that it just directs the wind to your face now that you’ve explained it. Do you think maybe the winglets contribute to the wind issue? At least at my stature and riding position it feels like the wind hits me right in the chest. It feels a lot worse than other nakeds I’ve rode. Thanks again for sharing, super helpful.

      Interesting thought on the winglets. I’m not sure. I’ve considered removing them for aesthetic reasons or getting the CNC racing ones. I may have to test that out and see if there is a difference with them removed.

      @lovinglife9711 I think I’m going to experiment with removing the winglets. It’s more of a curiosity at this point than anything. It really might be in my head, but it sure seems like these SF’s are worse than other nakeds when it comes to wind buffeting.

    lol I don’t need to tuck until 220ish kmph . I’m 5’11” though. Wind not bad at all. At 270+ you need to tuck.

      @markholmes5695 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah about 130mph. Maybe im built different. That’s me in my avatar 😂
      It’s a different position than most Nakeds lots of forward lean especially if you stick your ass back to the butt stop.
      I’ve managed 273kmph at full tuck and didn’t stop because of wind, the bike was still pulling with a gear left…. It was the lack of balls to go any faster!
      As you mentioned wind hits your chest not your head like a lot of bikes with screens , even sports bike you become a bobble head if not tucked under the screen (screens create vortexes)
      It’s incredibly comfortable for long rides.
      Myself and my wife (she has own bike)did the ring of Kerry (we’re Irish 🇮🇪) and back in a day. 12hour day in the saddle (7hours ride time) and I didn’t want to get off at the end. Can’t say I’d have felt that way on any previous bike especially any of the sports bikes.
      Ducati nailed this thing.
      I don’t like the look of the red version though I have to say. The grey nero makes it look like a different bike altogether.
      Will you get one to add to your garage?

    • @markholmes5695
      @markholmes5695 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To add, I test drove the Pani. Almost bought it cause I come from a mix of bikes but mainly sports. I’m 40 now and to be honest never found sports ergos great. I’d never admit it to the ‘brahs’ etc. they’re great on track for 45mins that’s about that. Most of the enjoyable riding is at or below legal speeds on twisties. The occasional BLAST is fine. I’m more interested in long hours in the saddle these days but still having a nutty bike that’ll still worry the next litre sports bike that pulls up beside me 😂

      @markholmes5695 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also the heat.. you mentioned it too. It’s majorly different isn’t it. Even the Duc rep told me that tons of guys were complaining re heat on Pani.
      Again great for track at stupid speed where the wind will wick any heat off. Not so much for the road.
      Still an awesome bike and yours is far better than the new 2025 version 🤢

    Great video man. Recently subscribed. Very much enjoy your content in that it does not have a squid vibe ;-0
    Like you, I just can’t get excited about these naked bikes.
    So when you adding a MV Augusta to the stable? ;-0 Not hard to see the general direction of your interests.
    I am having thoughts of another Ducati, but all I remember from my 1098s days was the heat. It felt crazy to me compared to other bikes I had before it, and I have the impression a V4 would be even worse? Hard to even imagine that it could be worse….lol

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your support!
      I love MV’s. They look awesome and they are a blast to ride as well. I recently had some pretty bad experiences with an MV however, and for that reason won’t be buying one. This MV suffered a catastrophic failure at a little under 6000 miles, and in addition had some other problems on top of the catastrophic issue.
      I have never rode a 1098, but hope I can at one time. I had an 848 for a time and it was fantastic. I would say if you are concerned about heat, then a Pani v4 is going to be tough. With the stock exhaust and tune, the Pani V4’s get ridiculously hot. Removing the catalyst and flashing the bike does help a lot, but the heat is still there. Of course we all know Ducati’s are race bikes but it’s a shame they just either refuse to address or can’t fix the heat issue. Heat turns a lot of people away from Pani’s.

    • @dlj1285
      @dlj1285 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ Interesting the MV problems…Yeah, they look sexy, but sexy gets old fast if it’s a piece of junk…lol…I loosely looked at it but the nearest dealer for MV is pretty far…Same with Aprilia…Too far…
      The heat is a consideration. When you first experience that you almost have yourself convinced that there is something wrong with the bike…It’s such a departure from other bikes…I had a ZX-10R before that 1098s and it wasn’t hot at all. Same with all my other bikes of the past. It’s not the end of the world, but if the seat is getting hot too that’s a little much. At least with the 1098 I don’t remember the seat boiling, it was mostly just around the bike etc by your legs and whatnot…
      How about the aprilia? That run hot?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Especially if you are far from a dealer, MV is just not a good choice. The last MV we had, we had to tow it to the nearest dealer which was 90 miles away and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. So we ended up with a tow bill and a diagnosis bill, but no running bike.
      The RSV4’s get hot but it’s nothing like a Ducati. Horsepower makes heat, no doubt about it but for whatever reason Ducati just can’t figure the heat thing out. The new V4’s are ridiculously hot, on a hot summer day you can easily get burned on a V4.

    • @dlj1285
      @dlj1285 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ridewithKY Yeah, “hand made” has a nice ring to it for bikes like MV, but it does leave ya wondering what kind of precision deficits could be coming along with that ;-0
      I’m not totally sure what I’m gonna do. The main goal here is to do something I’ve dreamed of doing forever but never had the time or money for in my younger years with mortgages and young kids and other things that were more important than toys: Track riding.
      I’ve been out of the game for a while, but I’ve never lost my interest in bikes.
      I have had a couple close calls on the road. On some level this makes me more interested in pursuing the track where I can actually drive these things the way they are meant to be driven, and to have a “safer” environment.
      I will still ride on the road too obviously, but that’s not where the majority of my interest sits these days. It doesn’t matter how good you are. The danger on the road sits with the crazy drivers you have no control over. It’s a shame, but it’s reality. Gotta be careful.
      I do really like the R1M, but man…I do still wanna ride a bit on the road and the physical side of driving one of them things is possibly not something I want in my life at 50 ;-0
      Not sure yet. Just looking around at great resources like your channel to try and figure out what direction I will go here.

    Good content. One thing that really annoys me w/most bike reviews is the MOST OBVIOUS. They never talk enough or at all about how each engine feels to the user. You know..the ONE thing a consumer CANT find out by looking at dynos #’s and listening to vague rider summaries. The ONE thing that makes a motorcycle fun/exciting to the average rider is the engine.
    For example, find a straight and pin it and watch the tachometer. At what RPM does the bike want to lift the front wheel? When in the RPM does the power die off? What’s the powerband like of each bike. Low speed, moderate, fast mph. It’s 2024, ALL bikes handle far beyond 99% of our sh*tty skills. And we know a naked bike is more comfy than a supersport. Not ragging on ya but only stating the obvious.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well… I’ll tell you these 1103cc V4’s want to lift the wheel at any RPM. Power doesn’t die off with these engines, you can look at a dyno to confirm that. Surprisingly the powerband is pretty linear, they are powerful but the torque is nothing special.
      It’s only more comfortable than a supersport in some ways, not all.
      This is also not a review.

    U are completely missing the point with the “watered down” engines..
    If i take my personal tuono 1100, and riding an rsv4 RF aswell… the tuono is geared shorter, and is not de tuned, but its optimized for street use, meaning more midrange torque.. the way a tuono v4 does 0-100 is completely different.. day to day riding a tuono is simply faster and way more playfull compared to the rsv4.. stop being a specsheet warrior

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      So you can’t gear an RSV4 engine shorter? I never said the Tuono was detuned, it’s a completely different engine… But you can cope and justify it however way you want to.
      Notice how the S1000R has the watered down engine but the M1000R doesn’t? Now why is that? If I’m buying the top of the range naked, give me the real engine.

    • @aronjanssen5702
      @aronjanssen5702 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ridewithKYagain u are completely missing the point and only looking at peak horsepower
      Both tuono and rsv 4 different years have same engines.. first gens had the 999 then the tuono first got the 1077 then the rsv4 got the 1077. Then they gave the rsv4 the 1099, and in 2025 the tuono gets the 1099
      U are calling it watered down.. its simply not.. its tuned for midrange power..
      the tuono, and the single r make more midrange and usable power as nonody on a naked bike rides in the upper powerband on the daily..
      Its not watered down.. detuned or whatever.. its just optimized for more daily usable power.. making it maybe less peak horsepower, but overal torque and midrange is higher..

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      So again… why do all the top tier nakeds (MV, Ducati, and BMW M) all get the same engine as their superbike sibling? RSV4’s have plenty of mid range even the way they are geared from the factory. Partial throttle mid range and torque on an RSV4 is ridiculous as it is. There’s no need to “tune” the tuono for more midrange and then lose 35-40 horsepower. The tuono’s figures at that point are closer to a Streetfighter V2 than a Streetfighter V4.
      If you are enjoying your tuono, that’s all that matters. Your bike and your money. The point of the video was my perspective and if it’s my money; I want the real engine. Whether the power is usable or not, I don’t want a lesser engine if I’m buying the top of the range naked. Justify it by saying the tuono has more midrange, but it’s still a lesser engine.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I looked at some graphs from Gabro. Looks like at least for the Tuono/RSV4 1100’s there is about a 10-15 hp advantage to the Tuono from 5500-9000 rpm. That’s certainly not nothing. Gabro says you can close that gap pretty significantly with tuning and changing the velocity stacks. Regardless, I’ll gladly sacrifice 10-15 hp in the midrange if it means another 40 hp towards the top end.
      It’s not like the RSV4 is weak in the midrange. It is a less powerful setup in the meat of the range but you are still talking 80 ft lbs of torque and over 100 hp at 7000 rpm for the RSV4. By 9000 rpm, the RSV4 really comes online and starts to surpass the tuono, then carries a ton more power/torque all the way to 13,500+rpm. Above 9500-10,000 you start seeing a 12-20% power increase for the RSV4. Everybody is different, but that 1077cc v4 doesn’t seem like a worthy trade off to me.
      You don’t think it’s weird that people put the 1099cc RSV4 engine in their Tuono’s but have never seen an RSV4 with a Tuono engine? Hmm… 🤔.

    • @aronjanssen5702
      @aronjanssen5702 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ u do realize that that rsv4 used the same 1077 untill 2020?
      Only difference is more midrange on the tuono, and short gearing.. rsv4 wont walk a tuono untill about 130mph👌. Topspeed of tuono is just lower at about 160/165mph. In the real world there is little to no difference,
