Im leaning towards the D7 but wondering what your opinion is, I have a 7th gen Honda accord. Do you think the D7 is more than enough for that car or would something like the A30m be more than enough??
He made a video for my question even better!😂👍✌️ just purchased the xtool d7 about a hour before I seen this video...but I also have a innova 5610 for a back up
@Maxx1676 🤦 it's a disease I just sold my 5610 and brought the innova sds50 tablet😩 think I might get the launch 919x next and call it a day, because I'm not to happy with the d7
Good stuff I'm backed up the opposite way my Main tool is Autel Mk808BT with second update and I also Have Xtool A30M with lifetime updates as well as Autel MD806 Pro with lifetime updates but that scanner is more OBD2 scan tool not bidirectional. Thinking about upgrading in a year or so to Autel MS906 Pro.
i was looking to get D9S but it have 6500mAh battery with bigger screen & that mean the battery will not last long without charging! while the D8W 10000mAh with small screen & i was disappointed! thats was really weird for me! but still D8 is a beast. Xtool nailed it with their tools awesome features & subscription & prices! i bought D8W & it's in the way. 1752
Great video! Im trying to decide which scanner to buy. I'd like to be able to make keys for older cars, say under 2017 as well as bidirectional features. I've narrowed it down to either the xtool IP819TP vs the launch crp919ebt. Open to other options if any around the $500 range as well. Thanks
Thanks for the compliment. What makes do you have in mind for the key programming? Haven't used Launch, but XTOOL's 3 years of free updates is worth considering as you decide.
I know it's a month late but I was in need of a better scan tool. I ultimately went with the IP819tp from xtool. 3 years of updates, has the added feature for the tpms sensors if I needed it and haven't had an issue with it since I purchased it.
Im interested in the IP819TP, but what is the main differences between the IP819TP & like the D7 or D8, besides the TPMS.. I work on my own stuff, so i would like to have the tpms features the IP has but no more than one would use it for their own vehicles i can give that up. and i would also like the ability to do keys. As i have a dodge charger i would like to get a spare for eventually.. So what would be the best to go with, IP819TP or a D7 or D8 , as someone who works on their own stuff. Any recommendations and information appreciated
If your car doesn't use direct TPMS, then you really don't need the "TP", that said, I'd pick the IP819TP over the D7. This is because it can be connected to the XTOOL's key programming accessories to do advanced keys. The D8 adds topology scan and a few more service functions which you may or may not need. I'd check if the IP819TP can do Dodge keys and revert. What year is your Charger?
Autel used to recharge the internal battery through the OBD port long ago, but they changed the software to prevent that, as customers complained that the battery life became reduced (when the internal battery kept on recharging every time you plugged the scan tool into the car).
Thanks for sharing. Never knew Autel had that before. That would be a valid concern especially for cars with already weak batteries. Pros and cons with every decision!
I remember they improved zooming in on livedata graphing. You can do a screenshot and send to support. It was after one of my complaints that they did the optimization I mentioned. For some cars, you'll only get fuel trim data under generic OBDII. It's the same on my 2017 Accord.
Hi, Thank you for the Video. I'm looking for a tool for programming chips such as airbag flush. I see few tools like Autel 608, xtools, and Launch. Any idea about this category
You're welcome. Yea, asides the ones you mentioned there some specialist tools that primarily do those chips. I investigated some of those at some point but didn't commit. If I recall, there's one Carprog and so on.
Programming chips for airbag flush??? Gosh hopefully Chinese engineers have common sense and will never let regular users to do it!!!!! It can kill people!!!
Chinese xTool does NOT work for American autos older than about 2005. Simply shut down my 1999 F-250 7.3, with no data updates for my 2001 Dodge Dakota either.

Do you need to be online to used these kinda OBD Reader ? Do you need to have a wifi to used this ? Can you used this new from the box . ? What happens if you don't updates does this still work ? Is this capable of scanning Fuel Pressure test ? Is this capable of scanning compression test ?
Some functions in some cars can only be done online. E.g some procedures for Benz. However most stuff are done offline. Fuel pressure testing is supported but not on every car. Tool will work after license expiry. I did a video on this.
@@DIYAutoworksNG My Last question is Do you have to pay every Year or monthly to keep all the Features on to this OBD device ? Now if you don't pay every yearly or monthly can you still used it to scan for everything ?
As far as I’m aware after long long research. *Autel* - if you after expiration date, when trying to update, instead your Autel tablet erasing all previous databases in it’s memory and tells into your face that you are need to pay. *Xtool* - will let you use the tablet with the same functionality after free updates expiration timeframe. There is one thing though (was mentioned by different people several times during free updates period) If you didn’t use it 30 or more days - it requires to make updates first - won’t work without them. So if you out of internet guess what… Set reminders on your phone especially after free updates period!!!
The D7 is a beast. Its worth 1k $. Tech support is off the chain. Updates after Updates. It paid for itself in 3 jobs. A heavy con which is more of a ceiling rather than a con. Its 😢that its stand alone. Doesn't work with accessories to program on a bench...... that I know of. 🪶
