@@HowToDoItTech Wyze has wrongfully decided that this RTSP capability cuts into their bottom line. NOT supporting it will ultimately cut into their bottom line IMHO. What has happened is people want a camera (that they paid for with their hard earned money) that they can use it without paying for a monthly service. IF Wyze offered some level of a PC/laptop app with multi-cam monitoring capabilities, and support pulling in other network ip cams... ok, then maybe I would not be so against their lack of support here. But because they see this as something that will keep us from paying them a monthly bill, they don't support it anymore.
Their small minded/focus on "protecting" monthly revenue doesn't take into account the many customers like me that would never had used a monthly service (ever), are not swayed to start paying for a monthly service because of a withdrawal of support for something like RTSP. In fact, for many of us, it has the exact opposite affect, we will no longer buy another Wyze product (at least not their cameras), because of this. That group of us would have been perfectly fine continuing use and buying more of their products had they supported this (or add the missing capabilities I mentioned).
Its a shame really, because I like the hardware itself.
Now, I am building out my own multi-cam system, using Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, ZeroCam (some wide, some reg, and some night vision), with the free software motionEye. Since I already had about a dozen of those Wyze Cam v3 (and a handful of v3 pro), I already have the USB power at the spots I need it at to power the Zero2Cam/MotionEye solution.
I hope Wyze's greed here meets the full force of Karma and this bites them where the sun don't shine. Thanks for wasting my time and money Wyze. May your own greed be your downfall.
Great video btw, had I gotten to it back when Wyze still had the download, I would have had a copy of the firmware and likely used it and not be going through the throwing away all of these worthless Wyze cams now. Wishing I didn't put off doing this conversion until now. I just figured I would be able to convert them at any time (or Wyze would finally support pc monitoring of camera feeds, multi-cam monitoring, FULL access to my camera's potential without paying additional monthly fee's, etc)

Thank you for the review and links. Would I still be able to use the camera with my Echo Show 8 v2 if install the IP firmware?
I want to have a camera that I can stream from to my Echo Show to check in on how my 3D printers or CNC are doing in the shop. Using the Echo Show is for convenience. It is very portable and I like that I can use voice commands to switch to different cameras. Because Wyze now charges for continuous streaming, I will look for another solution if I cannot use this firmware change.

Hi. Thanks for watching the video. So, I can't advise when it comes to the Echo Show but I was still able to use it with my Google Nest Hub. However, because the Firmware isn't officially supported by Wyze since I created the video (it's just available as a legacy project by them), I'd recommend caution and potentially expect issues that might not be fixable and require a hardware reset.

Nope. If you camera has RSTP (any compatible brand and model) then it will use your network to stream and only a power supply is required. Interesting EZVIZ used to but it seems to have been discontinued. Looking at options it would seem that webcams are probably going to be the best option, however, the drawback is they have to be connected to a computer to operate.
