@@wanmic1 yes it really does. At first it didnt but if you insert card and format through the settings it reads and writes just fine. I left it recording all night and the files are split up into like 2 or 3 minute clips. So i threw it into adobe premier to make one long edited video. Next ill try the time lapse feature

@@katalackatt76 test the sd card by connecting to a pc and if the computer can read it then reformat it to a format the camera can read. If the computer cant detect your sd card could be a bad micro sd card.

I wish I could say the same for my experience with the tech support I talked to... I have had my 3- WYZE CAM 2s for a year and one just stopped working all together! It doesnt recognize the power supply cord/plug no yellow light, no sound, NOTHING! Its very frustrating to hear everyone else loving theirs! I was simply told it was over the 1yr warranty time period & they couldn't & wouldn't help me even figure out the isssue!@#%&^ARRRR!!
It would be great if you could schedule your recordings, a reoccuring continous recording every day between for instance 00-06. This would make the storage last longer as well. Is this a feature you would consider adding?
So I have the wyzecam v3 like what you hold in the video, after put in sd card for about 4 days, I remove the card to put on my PC to see videos, it does not have any video files on the sd card?
I get mine in a few days! I cant wait. I have a psycho landlord who has entered my room at least twice and I havent even been here a month YET! This is the best system for me due to this one feature! She has control of the wifi when I am gone. Nest and Ring are useless to me and make me more vulnerable due to their limitations. Thanks for designing this feature into it.

They work perfectly! With 3 of these cameras I can see every corner of the yard, and they were very easy to set up. The best part is I only get the footage I want to see, not hours of videos of the bird feeder swaying in the breeze.

trench lim set Wyze cam to your WiFi network set to always record if it disconnects from WiFi it will still record even if it powers down it will record as soon as it starts up again. When you get home for the day you can easily transfer your “dash cam” video if you have a device you keep in your car or 4g capable vehicle you can get live alerts and keep the cane power to a battery backup
The MaxDrive (Nas Drive) should come out soon for it to be worth it for the masses in the long run and cut out the need for microsd in case if someone steals or damage the camera(s) as some events last a lot longer than a few seconds. Hopefully the buyer gets to choose their storage (gb, tb, ssd, hhd) for the MaxDrive so it doesn't end up costing too much. There's real progress to be made. Curious to see if Wyze Cam shall dominate the market for its price and features.

It sounds like you have a Wyze Cam Outdoor v2! While it doesn't utilize Continuous Recording like other Wyze Cams, you can still record for extended periods of time using Scheduled Recording with a MicroSD card. This feature allows you to record for up to 10 consecutive hours. These recordings get saved to your album instead of playback. You can do this by tapping "More" on the live stream page and then Scheduled Recording. Wyze Labs sent me three cameras because none of them recognize that an SD card is present - the original 32Gb card that came with the first camera. When I hopefully get this resolved, Dave said that it will record for a few days. A search here says "You can record about 90 minutes of 1080p (1,080 x 1,920) “Full HD” video on a 32GB SD Memory Card. If you reduce the resolution to 720p (720 x 1,280) “HD Ready”, you'll get closer to 200 minutes of recording time on a 32GB Card. So, "HD Ready" is SD? 200 minutes is only about three hours. Sequential 1 minute video clips...does that mean separate files...is there a lag time between these?
Had the same issue. Ended up formatting SD disk to "FAT " Not EXFAT. Camera recognized SD disk and asked me if I wanted to format it. Formatted it again thru camera and it worked.
I bought one a couple of days ago and so far I like most of it. I just wish the recorded audio was better. The audio sounds muffled and distant. Also I wish the bit rate was higher
I have my camera set to record events from 10pm to 9am, but it is not recording consistently while I have this set on settings. I go to the playback and it is not recording the way I have it set. Why is that? It's very frustrating. I have this camera set at my grandmother's house and may just return this product to Amazon.
Dear Wyze, I realize this is an older video, but you only recommended a 32GB card. When I clicked on the link it took me to a 256GB card. Is that large a card workable in the older cameras, or only the newer ones? Thanks, and my I say how much I love the cameras I've installed, and they all still work though MANY years old. I had my micro sd card installed before I installed my camera (surveillance) and thought all was well. It loaded into a cloud until the trial period was out and now I see an error message saying there was no sd card detected. I got a 128 g card .. will try to install it again.
Just got my first wyzecam and hoping to get it setup. Is it possible to get the camera setup through wifi once, then have the ability to record without being connected to WiFi and just record to the SD card? Don't mind having to pull the card out to access the videos recorded. Thanks

So, I plan to install a cam to track who enters my small my apt in my absence. Does selecting "recording alert" mean i'll be recorded every time i exit and enter my front door? And is it possible to turn if off when I'm home? And, is it true the entire thing has to be replaced when the battery dies?

So you can set the unit to record 24/7 to an SD card, but still upload just motion events to the cloud? That's a great option and I don't believe if offered by many/any other cameras. eg: Yi motion only to card and cloud, or 24/7 only to card and cloud.
I don't understand what's being discussed here. With my wyze sd card I can only record continuous, with no "motion events." What is the "cloud"?? Is it simply the data stored in the app?
I'm sorry that I apparently missed this comment! I know that this is super late, but local recording does NOT disable cloud recording. To do that, you would need to turn off motion and sound detection. Please note that this would also disable the push notifications as those are generated by the cloud.
I put in the recommended SD Card, 8GB Class 10, for some reason, it stops recognizing it. I unplug from the back of the camera but still not resolved. Do I have to unplug from outlet?
@@wyze can you fix the feature that you don't need to turn off sound and motion detection and still be able to upload to the cloud and the SD card. I want to receive notification when there are motion and sound detected and be able to still record to the clouds for 12 seconds and the SD card.
I'm trying (for the 100th time) to set up my three cameras. These videos are helping--however I'm wondering if the recording to an SD card is affected by wireless (outdoor cam), vs plugged in? Seems like I don't have the screen on the outdoor cams to choose record to sd card / alerts vs continuous screen?? Thank you...will keep working on getting these set up!
Is there a way to have it record to your harddrive or even phone? I don't feel too secure with the footage being able to be stolen say if these cameras were mounted outside. Then all the footage would be taken away.
My Wyze V3 camera app settings doesn't look like yours. Maybe your video is outdated? When I inserted an SD card and went to the app, there is no option for "Record locally to SD card", there's only a toggle button for "Continous Recording".

just did this an hour ago with my pan cam. video alerts are not showing/being stored in the sd card. there is also no videos for me to playback. i formatted the card and even heard the 'ding'. any solutions? i've read in the forums that a lot of people are having the same issues after the firmware upgrade. pls help!
What if you need to store a 8 hour event for library purpose and need to record another event and another event and need these saved for specific reasons to library these events?

I installed 4 outdoor cam last week. I have a a Micro SD card in each cam but when I go to Advanced settings I do not see the Local recording option, The only option I have in MicroSD card Storage is Format, Am I missing something?

Great video. I purchase the wyze cam v3. I use to see the videos on event log but i no longer see them . Instead i see them on view back.can you tell me why is that. I cannot share the video like i could before with my friends. When i go back to view footage. Everytime it keeps reconnecting to wifi. I do have an sd card in side my wyze cam v3. Thanks for asking, Fran! Our maximum supported capacity is 32GB. With a 32GB microSD card, you can record about 48 hours of HD video and 168 hours of SD video.
I've been very pleased with the length of HD video that will fit on a 32GB card. I've had my SD card in now for about 4 days recording non-stop in HD and there is still 2GB free before it will start to over-write. These cameras continue to surprise me.
@@jamiesvanity9532 It depends on picture quality but about a week of 24-7 1080p recording. I record events only but it captures the whole event. Not just 12 seconds. I never run out of memory.
@@TBb____ I had to switch to full 24hr recording. I was missing footage after 12 seconds. Seems ok now. I format about once a week so simple from the app. I had to reset the cameras twice since I installed them. Haven't had a problem since.There not the best, but for the money I think there worth every penny. Blocking out false motion areas like trees or shadows never works. They have certain bugs to work out.
Hi I just got the wyze cam pan. I have continuous set for my SD for hanging around at home. Will events save still save to the cloud while at home or do I set that separately? Also, I have a little dog when I leave I’m only interested if someone breaks in. I don’t want to get notifications every time my dog walks around. Should I set alerts for person only and what motion tracking settings? Please help I’m so confused.
so this feature works lets say if my wyze cam is away from wifi correct? I use this to monitor my car (it has been vandalized) but sometimes I have to park farther away from the apartment so I lose connection..
you can use a WiFi network connection to set up and configure your Wyze Cam in the Wyze app. Once the camera is configured with a microSD card inserted and Local recording to microSD card turned on, the camera will continue to continuously record to the microSD card, even when it is offline.
Hey I was thinking of buying these over nest cams. If I enable continuous recording does that mean the entire bar will be green? Would I be able to know where there's motion within the continuous recording?
Hello, Abdulsalam! Thank you for your consideration! Yes, with continuous recording the entire bar would be green. We will be adding markers in for events in the future. In the meantime, you could use your cloud videos to show you where you should check in the timeline or use the record on event feature. That will only save videos in which motion or sound are detected but the videos are a minimum of 1 minute long. There's no cooldown period so you can record for as long as there is motion.

A question: When you choose 'continuous recording' and motion detection does it mean that it records everything uninterrupted onto the SD card and just 12" event triggered records onto the Cloud? Or it doesn't record anything on Cloud and records everything onto the SD card?

You can check the playback option to see if the continuous recording is on. Once turned on in the advanced setting menu, it looks like it starts right away. You don't have to press record in the app dashboard
You are pressing the record button. You don't need to do that. It starts recording automatically once you follow the instructions in the video and that recording continues even when you are not in the app
Are you only able to select and save these settings for recording when the camera is on? Trying to tweak the settings with the cam off, but it’s just spinning on the app.
Elevated805 if you have a micro sd card it should be able to continuously record...if it isn’t giving you the option you might have to restart your cam and app and go into setting and do it

My Wyze cam will only record 12 second clips with the micro sd card inserted. And it still has the 5 minute cool down period. The only way it will record longer than 12 seconds is if I have it on continuous recording. Do you know why that is?

Can I use this camera from inside my room to record outside into the parking lot? I know the window may affect the infrared but what if I aim it to the side of the window? Will this work?
I use my camera in a window pointed at my driveway, with night vision off. Works great! It is hard to view footage when rain hits the window though. Oh! And turn mic off - no sense recording yourself.
If the camera is taken by the intruder you loose all the footage that you need. Are there any solutions such as backing it up to a home drive on a continual basis?
my pan cam has an sd card and recognizes it and its set to record to the sd card but the cam still records in about 15 second videos ....anything im doing wrong ?
If you want to have microSD cards in both the Base Station and the WCO, you will need two microSD cards. There is no Playback feature at this time for WCO because it consumed too much battery life. We're looking into ways we can improve this moving forward!
What would cause all my cameras to stop recording to local storage at around 1pm and then not start recording again until they get back onto the wifi network. I installed these cameras in sprinter vans but unfortunately they stop recording halfway through the day and don't start up until they get onto wifi and then they record again to sd card.
I just got one and your video is great but after inserting the Micro SD card, the app doesn't recognize it. I've popped it out, back in. Checked and it's already formatted FAT32. Not sure what else it could be. The Card is a Sandisk Extreme 32GB. Any Ideas? ALSO, unplugging the cam and plugging it back in doesn't fix it as you state.
so everytime you wanna save or transfer the files, you would have to take out the sd card? (this is for the camera that is not connected to the internet)
Correct: if your camera is offline, you would need to either remove the microSD card or restore the camera's internet connection to save or transfer locally stored files.
Hi there! If you have a microSD card inserted, tap the SD CARD button (text) on the bottom-left of the Live Stream screen. This should allow you to see locally recorded video.

I've been using a 128GB micro SD card which gives over 2 months of full HD footage. I love this device

I had my micro sd card installed before I installed my camera (surveillance) and thought all was well. It loaded into a cloud until the trial period was out and now I see an error message saying there was no sd card detected. I got a 128 g card .. will try to install it again.

So, I plan to install a cam to track who enters my small my apt in my absence. Does selecting "recording alert" mean i'll be recorded every time i exit and enter my front door? And is it possible to turn if off when I'm home? And, is it true the entire thing has to be replaced when the battery dies?

I got an actual microsd card At first I was confused because I used a microsd sim card from an old phone. I just guessed when putting the card in and it slid right in
MicroSD cards are key cut meaning they only go in one way. If you screw it up, it is because you forced something to fit where it shouldn't.

So you can set the unit to record 24/7 to an SD card, but still upload just motion events to the cloud? That's a great option and I don't believe if offered by many/any other cameras. eg: Yi motion only to card and cloud, or 24/7 only to card and cloud.

I don't understand what's being discussed here. With my wyze sd card I can only record continuous, with no "motion events." What is the "cloud"?? Is it simply the data stored in the app?
Does enabling local recording mean that cloud recording is off? Or the 12 sec cloud recording is still occurring?

I'm sorry that I apparently missed this comment! I know that this is super late, but local recording does NOT disable cloud recording. To do that, you would need to turn off motion and sound detection. Please note that this would also disable the push notifications as those are generated by the cloud.
I put in the recommended SD Card, 8GB Class 10, for some reason, it stops recognizing it. I unplug from the back of the camera but still not resolved. Do I have to unplug from outlet?
@@wyze can you fix the feature that you don't need to turn off sound and motion detection and still be able to upload to the cloud and the SD card. I want to receive notification when there are motion and sound detected and be able to still record to the clouds for 12 seconds and the SD card.

Is there a way to have it record to your harddrive or even phone? I don't feel too secure with the footage being able to be stolen say if these cameras were mounted outside. Then all the footage would be taken away.
My Wyze V3 camera app settings doesn't look like yours. Maybe your video is outdated? When I inserted an SD card and went to the app, there is no option for "Record locally to SD card", there's only a toggle button for "Continous Recording".

just did this an hour ago with my pan cam. video alerts are not showing/being stored in the sd card. there is also no videos for me to playback. i formatted the card and even heard the 'ding'. any solutions? i've read in the forums that a lot of people are having the same issues after the firmware upgrade. pls help!

I installed 4 outdoor cam last week. I have a a Micro SD card in each cam but when I go to Advanced settings I do not see the Local recording option, The only option I have in MicroSD card Storage is Format, Am I missing something?

Great video. I purchase the wyze cam v3. I use to see the videos on event log but i no longer see them . Instead i see them on view back.can you tell me why is that. I cannot share the video like i could before with my friends. When i go back to view footage. Everytime it keeps reconnecting to wifi. I do have an sd card in side my wyze cam v3. How can i fix that problem of sharing my event log and connection and sd card issues. I need to be able to share my footage via event lig. Thanks for asking, Fran! Our maximum supported capacity is 32GB. With a 32GB microSD card, you can record about 48 hours of HD video and 168 hours of SD video.
I've been very pleased with the length of HD video that will fit on a 32GB card. I've had my SD card in now for about 4 days recording non-stop in HD and there is still 2GB free before it will start to over-write. These cameras continue to surprise me.

Is there anyway to lock the camera in position. It just tilts whichever way the cord is, despite having tons of slack. Not position able at all

@@jamiesvanity9532 It depends on picture quality but about a week of 24-7 1080p recording. I record events only but it captures the whole event. Not just 12 seconds. I never run out of memory.

@@TBb____ I had to switch to full 24hr recording. I was missing footage after 12 seconds. Seems ok now. I format about once a week so simple from the app. I had to reset the cameras twice since I installed them. Haven't had a problem since.There not the best, but for the money I think there worth every penny. Blocking out false motion areas like trees or shadows never works. They have certain bugs to work out.

Hi I just got the wyze cam pan. I have continuous set for my SD for hanging around at home. Will events save still save to the cloud while at home or do I set that separately?
Also, I have a little dog when I leave I’m only interested if someone breaks in. I don’t want to get notifications every time my dog walks around. Should I set alerts for person only and what motion tracking settings? Please help I’m so confused.

so this feature works lets say if my wyze cam is away from wifi correct? I use this to monitor my car (it has been vandalized) but sometimes I have to park farther away from the apartment so I lose connection..
you can use a WiFi network connection to set up and configure your Wyze Cam in the Wyze app. Once the camera is configured with a microSD card inserted and Local recording to microSD card turned on, the camera will continue to continuously record to the microSD card, even when it is offline.
Hey I was thinking of buying these over nest cams. If I enable continuous recording does that mean the entire bar will be green? Would I be able to know where there's motion within the continuous recording?

Thank you for your consideration! Yes, with continuous recording the entire bar would be green. We will be adding markers in for events in the future. In the meantime, you could use your cloud videos to show you where you should check in the timeline or use the record on event feature. That will only save videos in which motion or sound are detected but the videos are a minimum of 1 minute long. There's no cooldown period so you can record for as long as there is motion.
Please help. I just got the camera and I got a 32gb microSDHC card and I put it in my Wyze cam as directed and the app is still saying that there was no sd card in my camera when there is one
Should the camera be able to reformat on it's on? Will I have to go into advanced settings to manually reformat periodically?
The camera will automatically overwrite the oldest videos when full, but reformatting the card you would have to manually do.

A question: When you choose 'continuous recording' and motion detection does it mean that it records everything uninterrupted onto the SD card and just 12" event triggered records onto the Cloud? Or it doesn't record anything on Cloud and records everything onto the SD card?

Do you need to stay in the app to record continuously? I want to record to my sd card but when I leave the app it seems to stop recording.
You can check the playback option to see if the continuous recording is on. Once turned on in the advanced setting menu, it looks like it starts right away. You don't have to press record in the app dashboard

You are pressing the record button. You don't need to do that. It starts recording automatically once you follow the instructions in the video and that recording continues even when you are not in the app
Can it do continuous recording as well as motion detection videos at the same time?
Are you only able to select and save these settings for recording when the camera is on? Trying to tweak the settings with the cam off, but it’s just spinning on the app.
The camera will need to be online for settings to update. Are you turning the camera off in the app or physically unplugging the device?
Is there anyway to record without having the app open & viewing the camera? Mine doesn’t have the option to continuously record.
Elevated805 if you have a micro sd card it should be able to continuously record...if it isn’t giving you the option you might have to restart your cam and app and go into setting and do it

My Wyze cam will only record 12 second clips with the micro sd card inserted. And it still has the 5 minute cool down period. The only way it will record longer than 12 seconds is if I have it on continuous recording. Do you know why that is?

Can I use this camera from inside my room to record outside into the parking lot? I know the window may affect the infrared but what if I aim it to the side of the window? Will this work?
The infrared probably would still be an issue in this case. My recommendation is to turn off night vision and use outdoor lighting if possible.
I use my camera in a window pointed at my driveway, with night vision off. Works great! It is hard to view footage when rain hits the window though. Oh! And turn mic off - no sense recording yourself.

my pan cam has an sd card and recognizes it and its set to record to the sd card but the cam still records in about 15 second videos ....anything im doing wrong ?

If you want to have microSD cards in both the Base Station and the WCO, you will need two microSD cards. There is no Playback feature at this time for WCO because it consumed too much battery life. We're looking into ways we can improve this moving forward!
What would cause all my cameras to stop recording to local storage at around 1pm and then not start recording again until they get back onto the wifi network. I installed these cameras in sprinter vans but unfortunately they stop recording halfway through the day and don't start up until they get onto wifi and then they record again to sd card.
Does wyze record onto sd with motion activation or only through a command on the app?
You can specify whether you want only Motion Events or Continuous Recording onto the microSD card for the v1, v2, and Pan cameras' Advanced Settings!

I just got one and your video is great but after inserting the Micro SD card, the app doesn't recognize it. I've popped it out, back in. Checked and it's already formatted FAT32. Not sure what else it could be. The Card is a Sandisk Extreme 32GB. Any Ideas? ALSO, unplugging the cam and plugging it back in doesn't fix it as you state.

so everytime you wanna save or transfer the files, you would have to take out the sd card? (this is for the camera that is not connected to the internet)
Correct: if your camera is offline, you would need to either remove the microSD card or restore the camera's internet connection to save or transfer locally stored files.
