I am glad you liked it (and noticed it). I had the video done on Monday but I wanted to do something fun for the intro. It took me about a day to learn how to do that level of motion tracking with mocha. It was fun and a new skill!
Would it be possible to develop an app to control the start and stop recording of this camera and save the video file to a specific folder? Do we have this kind of control over this cameras?
You could do that for sure. The camera isn't want would be storing the video, but the device that runs the program. It basically would record that RTSP stream and then save it somewhere.

Hi Paul, That looks like a docker error. Have you tried running the "Hello World" container to make sure your docker environment is working? hub.docker.com/_/hello-world
@@ThisSmartHouse Thanks for your quick reply. I hadn't run the "Hello World" container. I clicked on your link, signed up for an acct. I ran the command line "docker run hello-world" in my home assistant terminal which appeared to work well. But when I tried to start the Wyze Bridge Docker it didn't start. I got the same error. I am clueless. Thanks, Paul
The supervised version is the same as HASS.io. Typically if you are running Home Assistant inside a container (docker or Synology) it will be the "un-supervised" version. That is because the supervised version is running its OWN docker instance. So if you were to run a supervised version inside of docker, then you are running docker inside a container. However, there are versions out there that folks have set up to run HASS.io or whatever they are calling it these days as a VM or container. I use one such version for Proxmox: github.com/tteck/Proxmox What are you trying to run it on?

Have you set up the new Wyze API key? Also there are numerous ways to input your 2fa: github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge/wiki/Two-Factor-Authentication
@@ThisSmartHouse GOT IT! Thanks for the help! I figured out how to input the Wyze API in the config file in and now I get the 2FA and can finally see the cams. Now I have to see about getting all the goodies working to make these cameras better than using that dreadful Wyze app. Thanks again!
@@kojam1 Can you share how you added Wyze API in the config file? Which config file and what do the config entries look like? The docs mention /config/wyze-bridge/mfa_token.txt but that file doesn't exist yet since I haven't started the add-on because I need this stuff setup first. 😄
Thanks for the video. Very straightforward. I keep getting an authentication error and can’t even get the cameras detected. I’ve tried the API key method (I don’t have 2FA) and I have a simple alphanumeric password.
Any advice on adding the camera to blue iris. I am unsure what settings are needed and have not been able to get my camera to stream in blue iris after several different configuration changes.
@@ThisSmartHouse I did that already before I found this. I even put that openip firmware on a couple v2 cams. I couldn’t get my battery outdoor cam to work, which is how I found you. This is better than flashing them to rtsp firmware or OpinIP
I do not but you just need to copy the RTSP url for the camera and paste it into blue iris. You don't need to go through HA, just have it pull the video from the bridge.
Great video!! so i installed mine right on my Home Assistant instance using the addon. now everytime it updates i get an error when i try to update it. something about too many calls? if i keep trying over the next few days, it eventually updates. anyone else having this issue?
I bought a new camera, added the camera to my account with Wyze and it is not just showing up in Wyze bridge. What do I need to do to add the camera? Wyse Cam Pan v3 (it was on sale, I should have got the regular one, this thing tracks everything moving!!!) I did restart the bridge, nothing in the logs says it sees the other camera. Thanks
The Wyze Pan v3 is supported. Did you set up the API key (this is a new option)? Is the camera and the bridge on the same network? You can turn off the motion tracking. It is a bit much, I agree.
@@ThisSmartHouse cameras and bridge are on same network, I searched how to create an API key and there is one, but I don't know what to do with the key. The cards themselves don't update, correct? I have to click on the cards to open the stream to get a live view. Any way to make the cards update periodically? I assumed this was a frequency, but guess not?
You mean the image thumbnail? You have to change a setting, see here: github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge/wiki/Advanced-Option#snapshotstill-images Set it to something like SNAPSHOT=RTSP30. You set this on tht config tab for the addon if uding home assistant.

This works great when on home network, do the camera's become not available when you are outside your home? My setup is with Nabu Casa, and when I am at home the connection is on the local network, and everything seems to work great. But when I come off the home network when I am at work, the camera's become unavailable.. the stream spins and spins... and on my IOs device it says Media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed, or because the format is not supported.
Everything works the same when away. Home assistant is accessing the cameras locally. But then it will serve you the stream when you are away. Could it be a bandwidth issue? Your upload speeds?
@@ThisSmartHouse It’s the weirdest thing, if I am not at home, and I try to use the IU, I get nothing on 5G or another Wi-Fi. But the Camera I setup using the Generic Camera RTSP Stream as shown works perfectly! I’ll keep playing around!
Great video! I was able to get the video to stream but I'm not getting any audio. I did click "Enable Audio For All Cameras". Is this normal behavior or am I missing something?
Great video, and very timely! I just received an email notice from Wyze that they will be making 2FA mandatory in the near future. I recalled having just seen this video that referred to how to set up 2FA for the bridge so I came back for a quick refresh. A big help! I have a couple of questions: Do I have to update the verification code in the /config/wyze-bridge/mfa_token.txt file every time I log into my Wyze account and get a new code? Why does the bridge need to access the Wyze servers if it is operating in LAN mode? Thanks.
Glad you like the video! 1. I don't think you have to update it each time. Once you use the code it exchanges an OAUTH key that the bridge will keep using. You might have to update it periodically. 2. Because the fallback method is for it to pull a stream from the cloud if it cannot intercept the local stream. I assume I also needs it to find the source of the stream on your local network.
What happens if the internet connection drops? I’m looking for a inexpensive, mostly offline option for my van. I have internet, but depending on where I am, it can drop out and I’d still want the cams to work locally.
These cameras are trash without internet connection. RTSP consistently drops out every minute or so and takes another minute to get back online, which I am sure Wyze does by design.
I definitely tell people not to use these as exclusively RTSP cameras. These are great if you want to use the app primarily, but then occasionally view via RTSP.
@@ThisSmartHouse thank you! I messed around for a couple hours and finally figured it out! Thank you so much your videos are super helpful to a noob like myself

Did you see this section that was added to the instructions? github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge/wiki/Camera-Audio Looks like you need to add an environmental variable.
Docker is a software that lets you run containers on your computer. Think of them as mini virtual machines that run one program. This way you can set up software quickly without having conflicts. Docker can run on any OS. There is docker desktop on Mac and Windows. But most commonly it is ran on Linux.
hey man huge fan of your Wyzecam v3 content. quick question. Im unable to flash the official RTSP firmware even though Wyze claims they havent blocked the ability to flash custom firmware. so im leaning towards docker bridge, ive heard of the wyze-mini-hacks project as well. do you have any experience with the mini hacks? im not sure which offers better quality for RTSP. just curious if you have tried it and what you thought about it.
We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
If you are using home assistant, yes it is very easy to set up. Especially with the new webui. If you wanted to set it up outside of Home Assistant via docker, then it is more involved. Let me know if you run into trouble.

I am glad you liked it (and noticed it). I had the video done on Monday but I wanted to do something fun for the intro. It took me about a day to learn how to do that level of motion tracking with mocha. It was fun and a new skill!
This worked perfectly! Thanks for the video.!!
Is there a way to have it turn them all on/off at set time of day? I'd like to have all the inside cameras off when I'm home.
Hi can anyone tell me if this still works for Wyze Cam V3 running latest ota update
@ThisSmartHouse so basically the camera would always be streaming and in my app I would just take parts of that stream whenever I wanted?
@path_ethics Yep!
Do you happen to know how to rotate an image 90 degrees? The doorbell cam is on its side for me.
Nevermind, found it under hidden options
You think that would be a common setting to change. 🤷
@@ThisSmartHouse right? Or just make it automatic if it's the default for it to be on the side
I cannot get the cameras to work on rtsp. Am I doing something wrong?
I need help,LOL! I have been trying to get my wyze V3 to work. I have watched your straight forward video 5 times and I cannot get the image or stream to pull up. I am not paying for the Wyze subscription, I think I had heard this might be an issue?? I can get a snapshot image but it is from 3 days ago and it will not update. I have been able to produce an image but through scrypted and transfer the rtsp url to generic camera and it works through a card but I can't get docker wyze bridge to work. Any thoughts or chats you can refer me too? Thanks
Great video. Although when I attempted to start the Wyze Bridge Docker it never started. I got a log error: [FATAL tini (7)] exec flask failed: Exec format error. Any ideas? I tried looking it up on Homeassistant's website but found nothing. Thanks! Paul
Hi Paul,
That looks like a docker error.
Hey there I was looking for the link you had on the screen but it states it's not working anymore. Is it down for good?
Which one? This one? tshouse.link/wyzebridge
Some of my older links have occasional issues. Just try it again. Or I can give you the full link.
Thank you sir. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you as well!
Where can I get the supervised version of Home assistant ??? Every program I get for my NAS or Linux system its the unsupervised.
I use one such version for Proxmox: github.com/tteck/Proxmox
What are you trying to run it on?
Says 2FA should pop up in the webui but I cannot get it to. Says as of version 1.8.7 but I just installed 2.3.7 or something like that in Home Assistant yesterday and haven't been able to. HELP!?!?!
Have you set up the new Wyze API key? Also there are numerous ways to input your 2fa: github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge/wiki/Two-Factor-Authentication
@@ThisSmartHouse Did the key thing but wasn't sure where to put it in my docker-wyze-bridge on Home Assistant. Thanks for replying by the way.
Is the bridge giving you the error or home assistant?
Any advice on adding the camera to blue iris. I am unsure what settings are needed and have not been able to get my camera to stream in blue iris after several different configuration changes.
Does the RTSP stream not work?
Thank you! This is awesome. Wish I would have known this before flashing to the rtsp lol
You can use it with the flashed rtsp firmware. You'll just be behind on any new features.
@@ThisSmartHouse I did that already before I found this. I even put that openip firmware on a couple v2 cams. I couldn’t get my battery outdoor cam to work, which is how I found you. This is better than flashing them to rtsp firmware or OpinIP
Hi
do you have video on how to get video from Wyze Cam directly into Blue Iris or you have to go via HA first?
I do not but you just need to copy the RTSP url for the camera and paste it into blue iris. You don't need to go through HA, just have it pull the video from the bridge.
Does it work with new Wyze OG? New update 4/22/23. ???
Great video!! so i installed mine right on my Home Assistant instance using the addon. now everytime it updates i get an error when i try to update it. something about too many calls? if i keep trying over the next few days, it eventually updates. anyone else having this issue?
Have you checked the issues tab on the GitHub? I usually search there when I get a weird issue.
@ThisSmartHouse yes and I even opened an issue and he said because I am running on HA instead of a docker using compose he wasn't sure how to help
Sucks outdoor battery wize cams are not supported.
Great video. Thanks
My webui won’t pull any RTSP link. It just doesn’t exist. Can’t clink, can’t copy, nothing. So then I can’t get Generic Camera to connect to anything.
LOL Should I delete that original key and create a new one?
I am using the cameras to monitor 3D printers and want it on Home Assistant, and I am new to home assistant.
I edited the Yaml file in Wyze bridge and added the API ID and Key, it changed to orange so I guess that means it's working, and after that on the web UI there is now a spot for them, I deleted and created a new key, the one camera shows up, but not the other, BTW they are showing up on the phone app. If I find out what I am doing wrong I will let you know, meanwhile if you think of something, please let me know. Thanks,
@@ThisSmartHouse The solution was easy, we both should have thought of if, especially you. LOL
SOLUTION within the plug in settings I logged out of my Wyze account and back in, the way I did it was change my username to something wrong, saved, then changed the username to the right user name, logged in and all the cameras showed up. I couldn't find how to log out.
Anyhow if anyone else has that issue when it's all working and you buy another camera., just log out of the Wyze account and back in! Thanks again for the help on all of this
The cards themselves don't update, correct? I have to click on the cards to open the stream to get a live view. Any way to make the cards update periodically? I assumed this was a frequency, but guess not?
You mean the image thumbnail? You have to change a setting, see here: github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge/wiki/Advanced-Option#snapshotstill-images
Set it to something like SNAPSHOT=RTSP30. You set this on tht config tab for the addon if uding home assistant.
@@ThisSmartHouse Thanks. So is there a way to get a live stream on the Dashboard without clicking to open the stream? I see my cameras but they all say "Idle". When I click on them, I get the live stream.
You want video playing live on the dashboard? Might try this: www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/w27dz8/live_play_cameras_cards_on_dashboard/
@@ThisSmartHouse Found the answer there. Can edit card and change to live. Thanks!
Great video, thank you. Worked for me.
Is there a way to feed these Wyze feeds to Homekit?
That's great! I am not a HomeKit person (Android) but a quick search looks like there is a project to convert RTSP cameras to HomeKit secure: www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/qmpoku/homekit_secure_video_for_any_rtsp_camera_via/
@@ThisSmartHouse Yes, thanks! I discovered this after I commented here.
It was working i get 502 bad gateway or messages that its not running. I have reset it up and still no bueno.
Are you using the home assistant add on or running in docker? Do you see any errors in the logs?
A big help!
I have a couple of questions:
Do I have to update the verification code in the /config/wyze-bridge/mfa_token.txt file every time I log into my Wyze account and get a new code?
These are great if you want to use the app primarily, but then occasionally view via RTSP.
any idea how to rotate doorbell camera so its the correct rotation?
You just need to add the option to rotate: github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge#rotate-video
@@ThisSmartHouse im so lost where i need to add it

Hey there! I really hope you can help because this was working but all of a sudden stopped and now I can't seem to get it back up. The generic camera config is actually getting stuck on the snapshot part. When I follow your instructions I get this error message that says:
"Unable to load valid image from still image URL: The camera may require a user name and password, or they are not correct."
I had this working before and I can see the stills when I open the wyze add-on in home assistant. Any help would be appreciated cause I'm losing my mind haha
That happens to me sometimes. Let me check my HA camera settings.
So here are my settings for my mower cam:
Still Image URL: 127.0.0.1:5000/snapshot/mower-cam.jpg
Stream URL: rtsp://127.0.0.1:8554/mower-cam
The only thing checked is the basic auth.
Hello. Nice video. I'm running HA on a Virtual Box VM. I have the Docker Wyze Bridge installed and running. I opened the Web UI and all my cameras were detected. I need to rotate the door bell cameras. I don't know how to implement the configuration. I'm new to all this...
🏠 Home Assistant - Use CAM_OPTIONS and add a new entry for each camera:
- CAM_NAME: Cam Name
AUDIO: true
- CAM_NAME: other cam
AUDIO: true
Here is the setting for rotation: github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge#rotate-video
To set these in the Home Assistant add-on, you just go to Add-ons > Wyze Docker Bridge > Configuration (tab). Then scroll down to the text box and paste the settings in there. Hit save right under it.
whenever i try to save the generic camera setup i get "timeout while loading url" for the stream source and for the still image. any ideas?
What version of HA are you on?
Been really enjoying your channel, great video. I have been following Wyze Bridge for a long time as well. I have wanted to Integrate it with Frigate. Is that on your list of videos? I for some reason can't get the docker to run.
So happy you enjoy the channel! I have been meaning to look at Frigate, but haven't had a chance. Which doctor container are you having issues with? The wyse one?
@@ThisSmartHouse its the Frigate container. I have been looking for alternatives to Blue Iris, ideally containerized. Really want motion detection with AI ideally. All the videos I am watching make the setup seem easy but I am just missing something. The log is saying I am missing a config file, but I am at a loss.
Thanks for the tutorial! Do you have recommendations on what app works with this for basic motion detection? I don't care about AI right now
A couple that come to mind are Motion (Linux) and BlueIris (Windows). I have used both and most recently BlueIris as an NVR.
Any way to stream to VLC on any system?
Just copy and paste the RTSP link into VLC and you should be able to watch the stream. You can find the RTSP stream in the web app for the Wyze Bridge, under each camera.

I need some help in deleting the docker file. I have has some ghost of wyze bridge still showing up on my MQTT broker. I have deleted the Wyze Docker Bridge Add on
If there are left over records in your MQTT broker then those items probably had the retain flag turned on. I would suggest installing MQTT explorer and connecting to your broker. You can easily delete the left over items from there.
@@ThisSmartHouse Thanks for the quick reply ,my MQTT Broker listing port still show the WYZE traffic {Message 1106 received on wyzebridge/doorbell/motion_tagging at 10:52 PM:}. I have not downloaded MQTT explorer but i don;t think this will fix this ghosr.
Well, I have to eat Crowe. It made it go away still learning MQTT broker. Need to find out more about retaining flags.
MQTT does take some getting used to. Anything that has retain will stay in the database. But you can delete the entry with Explorer.
For some reason my v3 pros don't stream very reliably to the HA interface but work fine in the Wyze app :(
I have the same experience. I think it is wifi strength. There are a ton of devices in my 2.4ghz range.
Is it possible to connect wyze camera without the wyze account?
No. You need the account in order to use the docker bridge.
ugh i just bought the nabu casa subscription now my camera IP's changed and they dont work :|
Those shouldn't impact each other. So you're saying the bridge can no longer see the camera?
What's the Web Ui link?
The default port is 5000 on the WebUI. So it should be x.x.x.x:5000, where x.x.x.x is the IP of your docker host.
I swear I used to have an audio feed through this on my dashboard, but now I don't. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the audio stream from a Cam Pan v1?
Did you see this section that was added to the instructions? github.com/mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge/wiki/Camera-Audio
Looks like you need to add an environmental variable.
No such option on webui snapshot to change to RTSP
Did you set up in home assistant or docker?
@@ThisSmartHouse Hi, thanks for the fast reply. I've installed it in Home assistant (which is on proxmox as a virtual machine.)
What OS does this run on? What does docker mean?
Docker is a software that lets you run containers on your computer. Think of them as mini virtual machines that run one program. This way you can set up software quickly without having conflicts.
Docker can run on any OS. There is docker desktop on Mac and Windows. But most commonly it is ran on Linux.
I set mine up and it was not booting the service. Did a system restart and it works now :)
That is strange. But you know the first question we ask in IT, Have you restarted?

hey man huge fan of your Wyzecam v3 content. quick question.
Glad you enjoy the videos!! I haven't heard of that project but I will check it out.
Hey! I used to work for VMware :D
Awesome. I have been a long time user. Got this shirt at a VMUG. I still wear the shirt I bought back at VMWorld 05.
I'm a super non-techy and I just have Wyze camera's. Can I still use this?
If you are using home assistant, yes it is very easy to set up. Especially with the new webui. If you wanted to set it up outside of Home Assistant via docker, then it is more involved. Let me know if you run into trouble.
@@ThisSmartHouseThank you for your reply. I don't have home assistant. I just have the Wyze camera's. Actually, I just ordered 2 and will have 1 month free for the subscription. I would love to have a way to discontinue that.

That is true. You can set up Wyze Bridge in Docker. This can run on Windows.

Yeah. That is the dream. I think I have 5 different camera vendors in my house and that is all I want as well.
But it’s not really “live” is it?!
Depending on the speed of the device running the bridge it's pretty close to live. That's why I typically leave the on-screen display of the time on my cameras so I can always check and see if there's any desync. I know the thumbnails only update periodically.
