    It might of not been intencional, but the light blue of the paint, the dark blue on the brakes and red on the pads are a exact match for the ///M logo

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว

      The blue callipers were intentional, the red pads were semi-intentional. I was unsure about the red pads when I ordered it. But when it arrived and we put it on, we looked at each other and went … “that’s the ///M logo” 😂😃🙌

    That’s why I went with the black wheels. Good info. Thanks.

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even with black wheels, the brake dust turns it into a rusty black after some time. But black does hide the brake dust a lot better 😃🙌

    • @gilbertferguson1685
      @gilbertferguson1685 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thedevthing very true. You still have to keep the wheels clean, otherwise the chemicals in the brake dust will eat into the finish.

    I have this car with the black wheels. I now have 3300 miles on it. I gave up cleaning the wheels with the rest of the car 1500 miles ago. I wash my car 2-3 times before I even touch the wheels again. It's pointless. And they are such a pain in the ass to clean. after driving 20 miles to work, they are filthy. Was hoping it would get better after they broke in, but it hasn't. Side note, the zandvoort blue is also impossible to keep clean. But when everything is squeaky clean, it looks absolutely amazing

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These new pads have reduced the brake dust a lot. 😂 I drive a number of times in a week before I have to wipe it down.
      I don’t drive it as much as you do though.

    I’ve recently changed the stock pads on my OG M2 to Akebono ceramic pads and have noticed brake dust reduce significantly.

    Ceramic only, no PPF. You briefly voiced a bias towards not applying PPF on the 992 video you did last year. Did you your channel do a deeper dive? Thanks. Great stuff here.

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I decided not to do PPF now. If and when the car will be driven in the winter, I would add the PPF then. For now, since it’s a show car or occasionally driven summer car, I don’t see the point of adding PPF

    Gt3rs 😮‍💨👌🏻👌🏻 the Brembo LM1000 pads stop like a mfer and have very very little break dust. ( best pads I’ve had ) Haven’t used ebc before but might try them because the lm1000’s are pricy. Atm I’m running hawk 5.0’s, stop really good and dust isn’t too bad👍🏻

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice, I will look into it when it comes time to replace the EBC.
      So far the brake dust with the EBC has been very minimal 😃

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s holding up pretty good. Reduces brake dust significantly from stock, but it does not eliminate it 100%
      I would drive a few weeks before I feel the need to wash it. If I drive it hard like I am doing a track day, then there is a bit more dust. Otherwise daily driving it around the city, it’s pretty good 😃🙌

  • @bimmerhana
    @bimmerhana ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you please let me know where you get those EBC pads for the new G87 M2? I got the same issue with that break squeal and wondering if i could fix it like you do

    • @thedevthing

    I’m not sure I get it: a graphene spray to boost a ceramic coating? Would you not use that after something like a TurtleWax Graphene Flexwax application? 🤔

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure how all that stuff works. Adams Polish had a bunch of products and they mix and match for extra protection and shine.
      🙌😃🙏

    • @swift__
      @swift__ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once you have the car ceramic coated after you wash it , you use that spray as a “drying aid” which basically just rejuvenates the properties of the coating to make it last longer.

    • @thedevthing

    A ceramic brake set fitment should eliminate your brake dust issue. ;-)

      Yes it would. But they are super expensive to get aftermarket and BMW does not offer it as an option from factory.

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can make a follow up video. So far there has been very little brake dust. A wipe down with a towel and details cleans it up nicely. But it’s more the road dust and dirt that I seem to be wiping off.
      Stopping power on street is superb. I just would not track the car with these pads 😃🙌

    Did these pads help with squeaky noise?

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t have any squeaks with these pads or the stock pad. Maybe after a lot more driving it might. I see that with my RS5 as the pads are old and likely ready to be changed.

    @dquarks ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Would the red pads need bedding.....?

    • @thedevthing
      @thedevthing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just regular driving is what I am planning. Nothing extensive on that front. I have done a couple of hard braking.
      I hear it’s not always necessary unless you have some race pads and rotors

      @@thedevthing Well, I had GSR for years and used AEM pads by Nissin for Japanese cars it was very good for dust. They really worked well. I bedded my Mazda CX 5 (non-sports car) brakes when new and it actually feels a lot better grab. BTW, have you considered lighten flywheel in the future, I love how it felt on my old car. Thanks for the chat.

      I have not though much about the flywheel. If I keep the car long enough perhaps. For the moment for what I am using the car for, I don’t think it’s necessary now.
