In the US, I've seen furniture refinishers use the sanding dust, mix it with wood glue cover the dowels or scratches smoothly let it dry an sand it. That process seems to blend in with the natural wood tones of the wood and is unnoticeable. Just a suggestion for another time 😉! Awesome job and video! Looks beautiful! 😊❤
The problem is dowels have the grain going the opposite direction and thus too dark. There are tools to make plugs of the same wood so the grain is the same.
This can work, I do it sometimes, but you do also have to be careful. What can happen is that while you’re filling out the hole with sawdust, general dirt and dust can get in there, and with standard PVA glue, this will turn black and look terrible. Can also happen if you sand it before it’s totally dry and thus push dirt and dust into the glue. Make sure that your sawdust is clean, as is the surrounding area, and don’t start sanding it back until it is totally dry.
I think the dowels gives the table some character.. It looks great. And you could tell how dry the top of the table was because it soaked the teak stain right up. You did an awesome job! I love it...❤❤

Just a suggestion to do close-ups of problem areas in the final pics. These close-ups reveal that the refinisher’s fix may or may not be perfect, but it is good enough. This makes me feel more confident about my not perfect but good enough work. Thanks!
