Hey guys! Here is the playlist with all the videos for the TH-cam MCM Challenge: th-cam.com/play/PLXoOpKN-flLDABaZspaAUKg_iTK93AQu5.html&si=SznPEGNLz4-Za7FS
I am so happy to see you on youtube for two reasons, you are based in Sweden and we have a strong tradition in high quality wood furnitures and secondly, you are starting up fresh without a fully equipped workshop, which inspires me. Good job!
Gorgeous..To be Honest, at times I love the concept of restorating old furniture piece with modern twist. The new legs gave the table a whole new look. Beautiful!!! Love all the challenge videos…
1940's card table probably used for bridge parties where multiple small tables were needed. There are examples on line. I love that you literally rescued the pieces from the side of the road.
I love the way the inlay turned out. I think you could have created some sort of base for the legs and turned the underside of the table into a chessboard. The top could just sit in the base and you’d be able to flip it over and play chess, but i think you did amazing considering it was basically a pile of scrap wood when you found it.
I agree with others that the table is from the 1930s or '40s, however, your update is very successful and it takes the splayed legs well. Had you changed the coved edging to something square, it would be hard to say this isn't MCM. Nice job!
The surface of the table definitely looks like oak. I don't know about the USA, but in Europe there were carpenters specialised in producing centre pieces such as your star, but also they made the more intricate flower motifs out of 4 or 5 types of wood. They were sold in bundles to be used by cabinetmakers.
I think it's okay to replace the legs since the old ones were just rotting away. It's not like this is going in a museum, the alternative would have been compost, so you saved it. Looks beautiful.
The large portions are definitely oak veneer. The dark part of the star looks like walnut, anyone's guess what the lighter wood is. Nice job bringing it back to a useful and lovely life. Kia kaha and aroha, from Aotearoa.
I think you did a wonderful job! Personally, I did like those wheels. They were quirky and if sprayed with a brass colour, they could look really cool. But who am I to judge. Sanding a kitchen table and oiling it, is about the extent of my experience…and painting an old Ikea shelf with chalk paint 🫣. BTW, the way you treated, filled and painted the inlay compass makes it now look really three-dimensional. You gave it back the trompe l’oeil effect it possibly used to have. Bravo!
Love the inlay and the metal feet. Please consider painting them gold and adding another feature to your beautiful table. Thanks for joining the challenge.
I was brought here by the MCM Challenge. I am super impressed by the work everyone has done. I found your channel and other peoples channels because of it. Love your work. A great effort and a beautiful outcome.
Of all of the various types of furniture restorations, I enjoy watching restoration projects that take a piece of 'junk' and turning it into a beautiful and useful piece of furniture as you did in this video.
The table is beautiful but it would have been nice to have seen the base get a bit of love too. I know ‘who sees the underside?’, but given the wood was so dry it could use some oil or wax. Not a negative, because I think you did a great job
You guys doing this challenge are amazing, every one a masterpiece! I have been so inspired by your collective work that I uploaded my first ever video this week!!
That table is not Mid-Century, but could be from the 70’s in a more traditional style. I think you found a gem. The table top with the star sunburnt is beautiful. Great end table. Nice job. Carol from California
Late entry. Do so enjoy the end result. "One man's trash is another man's treasure". I am a big fan of preconditionig before staining, my old pieces. Liked the design choices, like the midcentury vibe. Ciao
@delux68 Either you're a shut-in or you live in an HOA somewhere, because anyone else in America can drive around for less than an hour and find random junk piles of furniture discards lying around. It's _almost unbelievable_ that you don't know this.
Nice save! Some pre-stain wood conditioners would have made the the thirsty wood happy and your stain wood have gone on smoother. I wish you'd have used those cool casters.
Fascinating. I have seen similar tables to this and I have been told that they are actually older than MCM, most likely from the 1930's to early 40's. Your legs made the transition!

Great save!! And good call with adding the new legs. Love the inlay, ❤
Thank you 🙏🏻
Gorgeous..To be Honest, at times I love the concept of restorating old furniture piece with modern twist. The new legs gave the table a whole new look. Beautiful!!! Love all the challenge videos…
Agree! I think the new legs gave it a better mid-century vibe.
Wow, it turned out great, the oxalic acid was a great hit. Good luck on the mcm challenge🤞😅
Thank you 😊
I wonder if a quality piece of glass would protect that beautiful inlay for the future. I think I would put one on it
You did a great job on this table. Looks beautiful. Joyce❤️🙏🇺🇸
Thank you Joyce!
A friend has a tilt top table with that inlay. It is from the mid 1800s and it looks a lot like the coarse grain of oak.
Wow you truly resuscitated that roadside scrapwood Bravo! 🙌
Love your staging too.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Lovely result Anders, great 👏🤗
Thank you!
Great save on a pretty piece of furniture. I really like your commentary as you work, it helps to understand the processes being used.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
Oak,and it's beautiful
Thanks! 😊
looks great! would have like to see you use the wheels, they were unusual, never seen any like that
Great call replacing the legs. Much better and looked great in the end!
Agree! Thank you for watching!
I love that you saved this table. It came out beautifully!
Thank you

Thank you for watching!
Good Job but I would have prefered the original legs and the wheels.
I love the way the inlay turned out. I think you could have created some sort of base for the legs and turned the underside of the table into a chessboard. The top could just sit in the base and you’d be able to flip it over and play chess, but i think you did amazing considering it was basically a pile of scrap wood when you found it.
At first I was thinking a cards table, but they usually had drawers. I agree, it's older than it first appeared.
I think it’s a smoking table but I’m not sure. Thank you for watching!
I agree with others that the table is from the 1930s or '40s, however, your update is very successful and it takes the splayed legs well. Had you changed the coved edging to something square, it would be hard to say this isn't MCM. Nice job!
Good work! I love the compass and appreciate the work that goes into inlaying the pieces of veneer. It's a classy addition to the piece.
I’m bummed you didn’t reuse those awesome wheels!! You could’ve heated the metal and brushed it with a brass wire brush to give it that brass color.
I have saved then for some future project 🙂
That’s a beauty🤩
Thank you Jay 🙏🏻
The wood looks to me like red oak. Lovely color you chose.

Finally someone that’s gets it 😅 Thank you for watching!
I love when old unloved pieces are restored.
The large portions are definitely oak veneer. The dark part of the star looks like walnut, anyone's guess what the lighter wood is. Nice job bringing it back to a useful and lovely life. Kia kaha and aroha, from Aotearoa.
Thank you!

Haha, thank you for those words. U agree regarding the wheels. Actually I tried spray paint them off camera but it did not look that good! 😊
What a find! Nice job refurbishig it.
Thank you! 😊
What a beautiful little table - a lovely 'find'. The legs look great too - well done. Take care 🙂
Thank you Michael! 😀
I would have sanded the bottom. But I really like the table!
That certainly an example of from free to fabulous! Lovely
Thank you Molly!
Middle of California here.....Zowie! You made it gorgeous.. It is beautiful now. Well, well done!
Hi! Guess you have some warmer temperatures at your location ☀️ Thank you for watching!
From a piece of trash by the side of the road, this turned out beautiful! Nice job.
Thank you 😀
I think it’s absolutely beautiful, and I think if it was me, I would add a layer of glass to the top just a suggestion, marvelous work!
Thank you for watching 😀
I love the inlay! It almost looks 3D. The new legs look better.
Agree, thank you!
You took that from actual trash, to a very nice little table. Good job, Anders!
Thank you 😊
What a great find! You made it beautiful again and rescued it. It can have a second life ❤
I love giving furniture s second life! 😀
At first I was skeptical about the newer style legs but after seeing the finished product I think you did an amazing job upcycling that tabletop.

Hi and welcome! Thank you. The Challenge was a really fun one. And there will be more 😀 Stay tuned for my new project. Up in a weel or two. Take care!
Oh yes and the legs do make it look mid century. So a good choice there.
Of all of the various types of furniture restorations, I enjoy watching restoration projects that take a piece of 'junk' and turning it into a beautiful and useful piece of furniture as you did in this video.

Wow, that’s amazing. To find that on the side of the road! I wasn’t sure how it would look with the new legs, but it looks amazing. Well done!
Hey there MCF.......you did one heck of a great job on that little table!!!!
Well thank you! It was a really fun project!!
The table is beautiful but it would have been nice to have seen the base get a bit of love too. I know ‘who sees the underside?’, but given the wood was so dry it could use some oil or wax. Not a negative, because I think you did a great job
Agree and noted 😊 Thank you for watching!

@@midcenturyflipper Thanks - you are so kind. Getting a foothold with a channel is so difficult, so your gesture is much appreciated👍
🙂

Hi Carol and thank you for watching. Agree that the table could be from the 70s. I really loved the star inlay! It made the whole table! ⭐️
I disagree, It appears to be older to me. The build and materials look late 40's to early 1950's.
@@dennisp.2147 It's a modern reproduction. Probably only 3-5 years old.
@groom_of_the_stool nope, I can guarantee you that it’s not.
@@Heymrk People don't throw out 5 year old solid wood tables.
looks like oak. nice finished work
Thank you

Beautifully done! I just hit subscribe, too.
Welcome and thank you for watching!!
This is now beautiful! It's certainly the most intricate however I don't understand why you didn't at least clean up the bottom of the table.
I wondered the same thing. Jay has us spoiled with his attention to detail.
Simple and yet it has a very mcm vibe to it. Love it. On to the next in the challenge. Loving this challenge.
Thank you! Stay tuned for another upcoming Challenge soon 😀😀
It's almost unbelievable that you found that on the side of the road just in time to participate in "TH-cams biggest MCM challenge". What a miracle!

Thanks for the kind words!
Excellent work, especially on that 🌟
Thank you 😊
Fantastic restoration!
I wish the person who threw this out could see it now. Love your staging at end 👏
