He himself has no actual wit or charm beyond his ability to sound like a pre-teen and the only reason Netflix gave him a show is because of his brand recognition. He's THE biggest "animator" on TH-cam so of course other media corporations are gonna try to snag him off this website. I think what's really scary is how these TH-camrs have been doing more and more deals with big companies these past ten-ish years. The thing I really don't understand about the show is that the setting is meant to be humans coexisting with these strange science experiment creatures, like Max the alligator, the fly teacher, or the actual boulder person. He's meant to be one of the humans? Why even make this setting if not for the explicit purpose of explaining away why the main character looks like that? In the show, Jame's parents are two of those scientists, yet they're the only ones that look non-human at all. But that's not the case, because the main character always has to be as generic as possible.

I honestly didn't know this show existed until watching this video, but the show could never be more utterly soul-crushing than his music video. Just imagine listening to that song multiple times and still thinking "wow, very deep, lots of meaning"
I don’t think having a Netflix show necessarily means the creator’s gone off the deep end, changed to much, or is playing their audience, more than it is being a victim of caving in to big cooperations sweet words, or in Jame’s case: having someone offer u something you’ve always been passionate about and wanting to try (making a cartoon show). But most of the time they always turn out bad b/c I think TH-cam doesn’t translate the best to tv and movies, or they just didn’t have that much creative freedom and had to let the “experts” do their thing for the poor inexperienced (very marketable) TH-camr. I think we can all shrug the shows off. Honestly, I think it’s great that James decided to make a show, as he as wanted to for years, he loves cartoons. And for the record the show is made for younger kids, and even though I’m in high school, I watched it and enjoyed it for what it’s worth.
I had a chance to meet James at a food place , I was with my brother and he and I saw him in the corner of our eyes, he noticed us staring pretty much looking starstruck and actually said hi and asked how we where doing? Keep in mind I used to watch his videos all the time when I was younger but I’m an adult now and really havnt watched him in ages or even care about him, but to my surprise we had a great conversation, and he was genuinely very humble and grateful for his success, I could tell by the way he just talked to us, two strangers, and I will not forget that. Say what you want about the guy, but in my experience he truly seems like a good dude who isn’t just a “sell out.” I really still admire the guy. It’s so easy to hide behind a video and make fun of him while demeaning all his success, and I really hate the cynical nature of these kinds of videos, criticize him all you want, but do it fairly, it just seems like you have this unknown resentment against him and it comes off as petty.
I didn’t expect the video to blow up so I would have made it more clear but in the video I say I don’t know enough about him to have a real opinion, also that’s a really cool story

When James was told that he was too old to have epic reddit gold Dino nuggies, he highlighted a great societal standard of how epic chicky nuggers is for everyone, james from oddballs, James in real life, children, fat stinky redditors, even the man that was dating the children boyinachild, I believe that the show is an abstract work of art not meant to be interpreted directly, but rather left to resonate with you, like Vincent van Goh, we will only truly appreciate this work of art after James dies

I honestly didn't know this show existed until watching this video, but the show could never be more utterly soul-crushing than his music video. Just imagine listening to that song multiple times and still thinking "wow, very deep, lots of meaning"

Oddballs feels like something you'd see on a DVD borrowed from the library and never again.
I don’t think having a Netflix show necessarily means the creator’s gone off the deep end, changed to much, or is playing their audience, more than it is being a victim of caving in to big cooperations sweet words, or in Jame’s case: having someone offer u something you’ve always been passionate about and wanting to try (making a cartoon show).
But most of the time they always turn out bad b/c I think TH-cam doesn’t translate the best to tv and movies, or they just didn’t have that much creative freedom and had to let the “experts” do their thing for the poor inexperienced (very marketable) TH-camr.
I think we can all shrug the shows off. His personality and videos still seem mostly the same last I checked, just better audio quality and animation quality since he has help now, but I’ve only heard good things about his interactions with fans and others irl. He still seems pretty chill and humble, so I get why he’s gotten to be the biggest story time animator. He’s just staying in his lane and if that happens to come with a cruddy Netflix kids show then…💀 happens to every TH-camr at some point ig. Maybe we’ll never get a good TH-camr show.

Honestly, I think it’s great that James decided to make a show, as he as wanted to for years, he loves cartoons. And for the record the show is made for younger kids, and even though I’m in high school, I watched it and enjoyed it for what it’s worth.

I had a chance to meet James at a food place , I was with my brother and he and I saw him in the corner of our eyes, he noticed us staring pretty much looking starstruck and actually said hi and asked how we where doing? Keep in mind I used to watch his videos all the time when I was younger but I’m an adult now and really havnt watched him in ages or even care about him, but to my surprise we had a great conversation, and he was genuinely very humble and grateful for his success, I could tell by the way he just talked to us, two strangers, and I will not forget that. Say what you want about the guy, but in my experience he truly seems like a good dude who isn’t just a “sell out.” I really still admire the guy. It’s so easy to hide behind a video and make fun of him while demeaning all his success, and I really hate the cynical nature of these kinds of videos, criticize him all you want, but do it fairly, it just seems like you have this unknown resentment against him and it comes off as petty.
I didn’t expect the video to blow up so I would have made it more clear but in the video I say I don’t know enough about him to have a real opinion, also that’s a really cool story
