@@TheRealHeroKnight I meant the use of the line "I always come back" as a whole was a reference to the line in the FNaF3 trailer. Even when he says it in FNaF6. Also yeah this movie is funny as hell lol
I'm not a very big fan of fnaf, but last night me and a couple friends (who were all pretty big fans of it) watched the movie. And I honestly genuinely enjoyed it. So I mean, it's not ONLY enjoyable for fans. Then again, I probably did enjoy the movie because I watched it with my friends and they all enjoyed it... So maybe you are right.
Tbh this is what I expected the movie to be like A rather fun movie but with flaws just like any other movie I didn’t expect some cinematic masterpiece that will make the theater stand up with teary eyes clapping. I think that it works well for both fans and just people who love campy horror movies like killer klowns from outer space or Freddy vs Jason. My dad who knows absolutely nothing about FNaF other than it’s called “fab night at Freddy” and there’s a hippo Mr rogers and he liked it a lot. I see it as a pretty good family Halloween movie night kind of film and I think that works well with what it tried to accomplish.
I know this is probably more of a problem with FNAF in general, but I dislike how William Afton, a child murderer, is treated as if he’s some generic super villain, even to the point where “I always come back” has become his signature catchphrase. I blame FNAF SL and FFPS for how he’s received as a character, but even with the mad scientist stuff, those games still try to paint him in a serious light. Here it just doesn’t work for me. Instead of showing Afton as intelligent, but still cowardly towards death (as he was in FNAF 3’s final minigame), he’s shown embracing his death with pride. His death and the utterance of his catchphrase doesn’t really make sense, because Afton wouldn’t have known if he would come back. The movie also gives no good motive for why Afton kills. We aren’t shown that Afton is mentally unstable or anything, just that he’s arrogant. Afton also doesn’t play much of a big role. Even though he’s the whole reason for a majority of events in the movie, he’s never shown but two times. And this isn’t in a way where there’s this big payoff where we see that he’s the one pulling the strings, but more like him just randomly showing up so the plot can continue. In short, I feel as if FNAF has lost the point of the kind of character Afton is meant to be. Intelligent, yet delusional and scared of the consequences that his actions may bring. I think Matthew Lillard was great, but I don’t like how Afton was written here.
Gotta disagree with you on some points William would know or at least think he’d come back- he knows the spirits of his victims possess the animatronics-so he suspects he’ll be back if he dies inside the suit. As for the lack of motive, this is something the original games also didn’t provide. We never knew what his motives were in the original games except for the implication that he found joy in killing. I don’t think the lack of motive is a huge flaw but it would’ve added to the film.
@@mr.repairman3508 yeah. I do think motive would be good for fleshing out William as a character. Even if the games didn’t give much of a motive, the movie could’ve improved on it. As for the springlock failure, I still think Afton would not go out so willing to die. While both FNAF 3 and the FNAF movie showed William dying by his own creation, I think FNAF 3’s springlock failure is more satisfying in how it shows William’s death in a way which he is as powerless to the ones he once tormented. While the movie does that in a way, it feels like William won more than he had lost.
someone in my movie theater had a projecter and kept projecting a png of purple guy onto the screen along with the markiplier "was that the bite of 87?" meme. the couple i was sitting next to started making out when william afton got springlocked. another dude in the theater got escorted out because he was apparently watching toy chica porn on his phone next to a bunch of kids. truly an Experience.
As a long time fnaf fan who hasn't kept up since security breach, when I walked out I was unsure of how to feel, trying to tell myself I liked it, but I just didn't.
I think they would’ve gotten much less backlash if they advertised the movie for what it was really meant to be: a campy thriller movie for people who enjoy the games or people who like campy horror
In defense of critics, they kind of have to provide an objective overview of a movie, you cant really use your own opinions when rating a movie Edit: I like men
SERIOUSLY. This is my biggest problem with people who hate critics, it’s because they have no sense of basic plot writing characterization and narrative along with acting cinematography etc. Like there are very basic standards and lines of reasoning, when it comes to critiquing these things. Critics are always first looking to see if those fundamental things are there before they get invoked in a spectacle. It’s why movies like Captain Marvel or Jumanji 2018 have say a 75% score on rotten tomatoes, both with a very different audience reactions: it’s because critics are looking for basic writing, foundations and fulfillment, even if it’s boring. Mario movie has like 55% rating because it’s plot is pretty stupid but it’s considerably fun, but definitely gives cash grab vibes all the time. The movie adaptation of Les Mis is an already Great story with OK to horrible performances. Last Jedi and frozen are. 91% I believe, because critics can’t based it off of what fans personally wanted out of it, they’re looking for a basic narrative and characterization and that’s when people really lose their minds because they don’t know the difference between heavily disliking the direction and what would make it bad(both have their problems, but nothing fundamentally detrimental). I wouldn’t even be this anal about it if people did not try to make objective cases about why movies are good and bad using the same aspects of media criticism five nights at Freddy’s fans take the cake when it comes to being obnoxious. I didn’t even enjoy this movie as a fan at all The most fan service we got is the animatronics themselves and the fort building scene, along with some other animatronics in other games that are really just thrown the side.
@@absolutecreature7217 Just so you know: 29% on rotten tomatoes only means 29% of the critics gave it a positive review while 71% gave it a negative review. For all you know, it could just be 71% gave the movie a 50% score and the rest gave it 100%. Edit: just checked, most of the low scores are 2/5 or 4/10 scores, literally the bare minimum to be a bad score.
While I am bummed about Fnaf + but at the same time i care about the creator (Phisnom), and he already left the fan community when Security Breach came out, but he was just forced to make Fnaf +. The way it got cancelled was pretty messy, but I’m glad Phill is doing better.
6:50 Honestly the fact that it looks a little poorly made is what freaked me out mkre when I saw it. It gave me similar vibes to the circus baby ice cream mini game where baby eats one of the children.
I think this would’ve worked better as a 7-8 episode streaming series, in which the A plot focuses on Mike working at Freddy’s and being attacked by the Animatronics and the B plot could’ve followed him or another character unraveling the restaurant’s history and what happened to the missing children. It could even give William Afton more screen time as his Steve Raglan persona as Mike goes to him to learn a bit more about the restaurant. The Vanessa-William connection also could’ve been changed to just change her to someone who witnessed William murder one of the children as a child herself and was forced to become a follower to him to avoid being killed by him.
I really prefer the cryptic and dark storytelling of the original series. It allowed you to piece together a story each new game. Eventually all the pieces came into place with FNAF 6, Pizzeria Simulator and the story was perfect. I guess my point is that the Five Nights at Freddy's movie had a lot of missed potential. It could have been more welcoming to newcomers, just telling the story of the games. I guess the movie just ain't a great follow up to the games, at least how I see it.
i love your review videos because when you rag on something you don't take it that seriously . a lot of the people who criticize the movie treat it like it was the eighth sin or something but this was fun and it made me laugh 👍 good job gold star
I loved when Freddie looked towards the audience and said its freddin time and Fred all over them truly a Fred moment 1:08 💀 no way he put the future man scene
As a fan. I thought this movie was okay. Could’ve been way better though I feel. Also yeah I wanted it to be rated R to see more blood in a scene we never got which would be Afton luring the kids in the back room and going all fruit ninja. That’s just my take tho. 7:57 I also would argue that demolishes any threat or surprise later bc they already were a lil evil as we saw in the beginning. I would’ve been satisfied if though if the kids got more character development and screen time period. Whole time I just didn’t care because they all apart from G. Freddy’s spirit got like 5 seconds of screen time with no dialogue on their past. Afton also got lien THREE SECONDS AND HE WAS SO GOOD WHEN HE WAS ANGRY. But like u said even with the iffy script.
I’m both a fan of fnaf and a movie fan, I think the first half was bad and the pacing was even worse, but I really liked the second half. 5/10, equally good and bad, perfectly balanced as all things should be
Honestly the fnaf movie was one of the worst movies I’ve ever watched in my opinion but it was so bad I couldn’t help but enjoy myself the whole time and it happens to be one of my favorite theater experiences now so i still love it :)
Honestly i think it was the opposite, it felt more for general audiences/kids than hardcore fans. Also considering how huge fnaf is its not like making the movie exclusively for fans is a bad idea.
I like the part where they just kill off the aunt and never mention it ever again. Like “well your aunt’s dead now, don’t know how, must be natural causes… anyway!”
Scott cawthon said in the interview that he knew fans would want a movie about the first game, then he proceeded to... 1. Make the location abandoned, despite it not being the case in the first game 2. Add Vanessa to the movie, even tho she was in security breach 3. Have springtrap die in the main area of the building despite him being killed off and nobody knowing he was dead 4. Make cupcake the powerhouse of the movie despite the cupcake having no significance 5. Not add one sequence where mike is defending himself in the office
12:24 I would put that phrase like in the last scene with him in the Springbonnie suit, saying "I will come back, I'll always come back!" Instead of just "oh, he said it he said the thing!"
You're thoughts are very similar to my own. Mildly excited for the sequel but hoping for much better. Your idea for Afton's line from the novel being adapted wouldve been far superior, and made sense in the moment and line up with how much they were adapting from the book's rnding.
Even as a fan I thought the movie sucked for the majority, it was really good for the first 20 minutes, dogshit, and then good again for the last 15. I’m glad it was successful and the acting, set, and effects were super impressive, but I hope they take audience criticism in the sequel.
yea. like, if it focused mainly on FNAF 1, or maybe FNAF 2 (since it's a prequel to FNAF 1) and FNAF 2 only, it'd probably be better. plus, if they didn't have random characters from different FNAF games. also hide some secrets inside the movie, leading to an ARG of some kind
for me just felt like they did everything to keep the current rating even though you could see many of the kills in the movie would have been better if we actually could see them as almost all of them are cut out to keep the rating down to what it is what I think annoys me the most is the ending scene of the movie, there is barely any blood from afton getting springlocked where you can tell is also reduced to not get the R rating I'm guessing and the movie confirms to me that the movie could be more scary in the film when someone gets legit cut in half so I feel disappointed more then anything that the movie has the potential to have brutal, gore scares but reels it back for the pg-13 rating that really makes the movie to me, and I'm guessing others disappointed as well the movie is in a decent state on release but had so much more potential the film director more or less stripped away by going for the pg-13 only route.

cassideez nuts!!!!!!
Gotta love it how they explain practically nothing about Golden Freddy. They don’t even give him a name, and for some unknown reason he doesn’t even show up during the climax(Didn’t feel like it, I guess).
And I saw someone on twitter doing a ridiculous stretch in logic to justify his lack of presence.
Why? Why defend this?
Because fnaf fans are some of the most toxic motherfuckers around
Why not? Golden Freddy is like that in the first game too and you see nobody complain about that.
Theyre already writing a sequel. Maybe they left it for next movie.
The exact deal with golden Freddy is never explained even in the games tbf. That said, the first time I watched this movie I didn't evne notice it was supposed to be him, it's so out of nowhere lmfao.
You know, not everything needs to be directly explained right away. Some things can be left as mysteries. And there are gonna be sequels anyway so they definitely have time for that.
Biggest tragedy is that they made William the idiot goofy guy he is in the books and not the calm calculated psychopath he is in the games.
Chazington just name dropped Zathura. He's literally the white version of me. I want to smoke weed and play gamecube games with him while we talk about early 2000's anime.
iirc “I always come back” is a reference to the line “He will come back. He always does.” from the FNaF3 trailer. I do think something closer to that could’ve been cooler.
Also why does The Cupcake do more shit in this movie than Freddy
Did you forget fnaf 6?
To answer your question, idk. Pretty funny tho
@@TheRealHeroKnight I meant the use of the line "I always come back" as a whole was a reference to the line in the FNaF3 trailer. Even when he says it in FNaF6.
Also yeah this movie is funny as hell lol
I've quoted "Get me a juice box, beyotch," for like twenty years now shoutout Zathura.
I really wish the story focused more on Mike and Afton over focusing on Abby or Garrett. It feels like afton barely got time to be villainous
I would have liked a scene where Afton maybe invites Mike for lunch
If markiplier was the night guard in the movie he would’ve pulled out an ak47 and sing about his dreams
Thank fucking God we get an actual review 🙏🙏🙏 I'm still PISSED that I'll never get those 15 minutes I spent watching Toy Chica jerk around back

A rather fun movie but with flaws just like any other movie
I didn’t expect some cinematic masterpiece that will make the theater stand up with teary eyes clapping.
I agree with what you say but "fab nights at Freddy's" can't be making me roll this hard 💀
Except the theater part did actually happen. Quite often in fact.
"Flaws like just any other movie" is severely downplaying it.
My brother in christ, it's a bad movie, but you would be correct if you called a funny movie
@@eugger3011coping fr, like anytime they realize the movie is not very good they move five steps back by coping about it in some way
I know this is probably more of a problem with FNAF in general, but I dislike how William Afton, a child murderer, is treated as if he’s some generic super villain, even to the point where “I always come back” has become his signature catchphrase.
Gotta disagree with you on some points
William would know or at least think he’d come back- he knows the spirits of his victims possess the animatronics-so he suspects he’ll be back if he dies inside the suit.

I'm really happy to hear the appreciation for matthew lillard's shaggy. He really did succeed the role perfectly.
tbh when I saw Toy chica watches the fnaf movie I thought we wasn’t even going to do an actual fnaf movie review but apparently not
2:16 I literally could not stop thinking about this line leading up to the movie. I'm so happy someone else acknowledged it.
I watched this movie with my dad who had no idea about fnaf lore and it sure was one of the experiences of all time
matthew had to scream to do the shaggy voice so years of screaming probably made him sound like tigger
Fun fact the director of NIGHT FIVE has a Letterboxd account and gave the FNAF movie a 3/5
i like the fact that in the movie about scary animatronics the animatronics aren’t scary
I think they would’ve gotten much less backlash if they advertised the movie for what it was really meant to be: a campy thriller movie for people who enjoy the games or people who like campy horror
For the entire film, I thought Mike Schmitt was played by Pedro Pasquale 😂
The moment the infamous "Table Fort" scene happened is when I realized why this has low critic scores.

The friend I went to the movie with had never played or known any FNAF games.
He was very, very lost the whole time.
Crazy how William didn't take his mask off even for a picture with his own daughter
they really should've tried using what fnaf 1 did and make a horror movie about that, kinda like how the first security guard died
In defense of critics, they kind of have to provide an objective overview of a movie, you cant really use your own opinions when rating a movie
Edit: I like men
EXACTLY!
The writing of this movie and it’s characters is a bit wonky but the acting is alright. It’s kinda funny how low the critic reviews are
@@absolutecreature7217 Just so you know: 29% on rotten tomatoes only means 29% of the critics gave it a positive review while 71% gave it a negative review. For all you know, it could just be 71% gave the movie a 50% score and the rest gave it 100%.
Edit: just checked, most of the low scores are 2/5 or 4/10 scores, literally the bare minimum to be a bad score.
Even though critics are likely paid to say half of the shit they say

This video had me in tears. Love the edits. Another banger Chazington video lmao😂
Tbh I’ve watched people see the movie that had no prior knowledge of FNAF, and a lot of them actually really enjoyed it.
Now we desperately need a Chazington-certified review of "Night Five"
0:50 I swear to god I know the channel where this came from but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called
the random cuts to dawko’s terrible voice acting video are the funniest thing this channel is rewiring my brain
I loved when Freddie looked towards the audience and said its freddin time and Fred all over them truly a Fred moment
1:08 💀 no way he put the future man scene
the part when mike said "I HAVE TO STAY FIVE NIGHTS ....... AT FREDDYS?????" was so hype
Its a mid movie overall, but I still loved it and would definitely watch it again
"i always come back" in pizza sim is a reference to fnaf3 trailer ("He will come back. He always does.")
I've never seen your channel before, but this was hilarious. I loved the movie
The sequel needs to focus on people who don’t know about the franchise and the fans as well
I’m both a fan of fnaf and a movie fan, I think the first half was bad and the pacing was even worse, but I really liked the second half. 5/10, equally good and bad, perfectly balanced as all things should be
when they started cooperating I thought I was having an acid trip
i'm just glad coryxkenshin got a role as someone who has been watching him for like 8 years lol
Toy Bonnie and El Chip should have defiantly made out in the movie.
I like the part where they just kill off the aunt and never mention it ever again. Like “well your aunt’s dead now, don’t know how, must be natural causes… anyway!”
They're probably glad she's dead.
Scott cawthon said in the interview that he knew fans would want a movie about the first game, then he proceeded to...
1. Make the location abandoned, despite it not being the case in the first game
2. Add Vanessa to the movie, even tho she was in security breach
3. Have springtrap die in the main area of the building despite him being killed off and nobody knowing he was dead
4. Make cupcake the powerhouse of the movie despite the cupcake having no significance
5. Not add one sequence where mike is defending himself in the office
12:24 I would put that phrase like in the last scene with him in the Springbonnie suit, saying "I will come back, I'll always come back!"
Instead of just "oh, he said it he said the thing!"
my left ear loves this
You're thoughts are very similar to my own.
I’m glad it was successful and the acting, set, and effects were super impressive, but I hope they take audience criticism in the sequel.
yea.
like, if it focused mainly on FNAF 1, or maybe FNAF 2 (since it's a prequel to FNAF 1) and FNAF 2 only, it'd probably be better.
plus, if they didn't have random characters from different FNAF games.
also hide some secrets inside the movie, leading to an ARG of some kind
yea I agree I do think the fans are just blindly eating it up despite the major issues
@@sandunderman9865maybe some people have different opinions??
for me just felt like they did everything to keep the current rating even though you could see many of the kills in the movie would have been better if we actually could see them as almost all of them are cut out to keep the rating down to what it is what I think annoys me the most is the ending scene of the movie, there is barely any blood from afton getting springlocked where you can tell is also reduced to not get the R rating I'm guessing and the movie confirms to me that the movie could be more scary in the film when someone gets legit cut in half so I feel disappointed more then anything that the movie has the potential to have brutal, gore scares but reels it back for the pg-13 rating that really makes the movie to me, and I'm guessing others disappointed as well the movie is in a decent state on release but had so much more potential the film director more or less stripped away by going for the pg-13 only route.
@@sandunderman9865maybe some people actually enjoyed it. Not everyone is going to think like you. I know it’s hard to take in. But everyone’s different
