    Sounds like it’s a personal problem for some instead of a huge problem with the actual performance of the camera. Been using the R8 and for somebody that doesnt do a lot work, making the batery life and 1 card slot no issues for me, i’ve been impressed with the quality of the camera. Couldve bought the R6mkii, but i don’t need the extra stuff it gives, as long as the image and video quality is matched. And it is

    Hi! The problem is that some cards are made with too weak a protection flag. I took superglue and glued the switch.
    How do I solve the problem of overheating in 60 frames? I ordered an Ulanzi CA25 external fan on Aliexpress. It runs for 80+ minutes on battery power, and this solution alone allowed me to write for 30 minutes, while without it, recording stopped at the 18th minute. This thing is held on suction cups on a piece of plastic film that is glued to the back of the case under the screen. And when it warms up, the suction cups lose their vacuum and the fan falls off. This usually happens from the side where there are fewer suction cups. Therefore, I turn the fan to the side where there are few suction cups to the wide shoulder of the camera and put on a stationery elastic band. And it works. Next, on the same Aliexpress, I ordered an external battery pen for Canon RP. These two cameras have an identical body, so everything fits. It seems that increasing the body and removing the battery outside the camera will delay the shutdown time by another 15 minutes, if it does not solve the problem with overheating at all. And finally, I ordered a fast memory card to minimize the heat.

    I found the article @Canon USA with the title "My R8 won't delete photos from the camera card". I think I had the same issue with the "counterfeit" SD Card too in the past so that my Canon 80D could not read it. When I purchased the same brand from reputable company, no more problem. I tried to return the "counterfeit" card but to no avail because it worked with other non Canon camera. But ... if you have purchased it from B&H/Adorama like what has been mentioned on that article, then your problem is not the same as mine.

  • @random-3489
    @random-3489 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I pre-ordered the R8 when it just came out never had a issue with it since then (I got it from B&H body only)
    also for the battery issues you can buy a battery grip for it, if you really want more life out of it but I have 2 extra so its not really a issue for me
    (Reasons why someone would get this would be mainly the price since the R8 is 1.5k (body only) and the R6m2 for is around 2.5k) If youre just starting off and dont know if you really want to get into it
    But if you have the budget just get the R6m2 due to it being the R8 without anything removed (dual sd card) (Bigger Battery) (Joy Stick) (Scroll wheel) ect

    Interesting that the Canon R8 camera bricks itself. Can't see that the reliability confidence is all that high. It would be like hitting the wall to using the R8 as a main tool and then it being taken out of the game is very hard to ignore in making a camera choice. Very disappointing. Your journey with the R8 is quite unique, thanks for sharing the pathway. 👍👍👍👍👍

    • @babybackmaniacleftovers
      @babybackmaniacleftovers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right. The combination of having to keep an eye on the battery, heat, and now the SD card is a VERY different user experience than what I think of Canon as being.
      Hoping the SD card is a fluke, the battery can be worked around, and Canon could fix the "overheating" with a firmware patch to allow it to warm up a little more before shutting off...but right now where I sit it just doesn't feel like I can trust it totally.

    How can firmware solve a heat problem?
    It can only ensure that the protection against overheating is off.
    If the printed circuit board gets too hot in the camera, it must be cooled down with a fan, just like in a computer.
    In the other case, it will switch itself off if a too high temperature has been exceeded.
    If you now disable this protection or adjust the value via a software update instead of 80 degrees to 120 degrees, it will continue to work longer, but at what price?
    Therefore, using an external battery, external memory, opening all covers and screen is a small solution against a construction error!
