This blue mage guide is absolutely perfect. The leveling method, the most important spells and how to use them and tipps for the masked carnival. All in dense and easy-to-understand video. Great stuff!
this is a really good video, i have a blue mage lvl 60 and did not know most of this since i just did it without looking anything up. this really helps
I think there's a few other conditions to learning spells as Blue Mage that I've noticed. I don't think you can learn spells while blinded or asleep, for instance. And if you're in a party, you can learn them from a distance if someone else in your party gets a spell, but I think you still have to be within a certain range before you just miss out on it entirely.
Watch your guide before started BLU in end of April and beginning of May 2024, I really love this class / job, thank you for the amazing guides 💙 Hope to see interesting things in Dawn Trail and for BLU in End walker (Lvl 90).
I recently picked up Blue mage finally. I remember when it came out. I didn't understand it. Like what the hell is a limited class? What's its intended purpose? Finally I started playing again recently after an extended break and decided to give it a try. Having a lot of fun with it. And after throwing sardines at leech's for a couple of days casually, and maxing my level, I still have no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to do with it or what it's intended purpose is. But at least it's fun? And as I'm mostly solo player, I'm sure it'll be a benefit to me in some way.
As a BLU main I can agree this is very well done and concise. Tho I will note that tingle and whistle buffs your next physical spell, not melee spell. It'll still buff physical ranged spells like Winged Retrobation
I really hope they lift the limited aspect of this job in the future. There are plenty of ways to balance the blue mage so it's not OP. If they did this I would hop back into this game again
the only thing i dont agree with is the use of tank mimicry for treasure dungeons. You will lose al your MP to Healing Wind when a boss summons the swarm. Healer with Gobskin and Pom Cure can out heal the swarming adds and you survive tank busters with Gobskin.
If your doing shadowbringers maps then all boss adds, except the mandragora, can be ultravibrated making them a non issue. Even then using a buffed Breath of Magic will kill them before they become an issue.
Ok, so am a free trail player, who just finished ARR and at the beginning of Heavensworth. Just started blue mage and leveling it up and learning skills up to level 10 was ok. But when you need to learn 10 magics so that you can learn healing and defensice magic that is where it fucked for me. Because at level 10 I cant learn self distruct because well I die. The only other spell I can learn is 1000 needles or toad oil, but the enemy is at level 26, so I die. Then I have to learn Mind blast in a dungeon that I cant use nor duty finder or Duty support, cant summon my companion, and cant find anyone willing to help me on that dungeon. How can you do it?
First blue mage is a very grind heavy before your reach stormblood when you get the best level method for free trail, so you'll just have to keep grinding levels the old fashion way by killing normal enemies until get to a higher level to do things like tam-tara unsynced Two you just be in combat with the enemy and see the attack be cast you don't necessarily have to be hit by it, so for self-destruct just move away and let them finish themselves off. Also while not the easiest thing to do you can pull the cactuars with 1000 needles to the guards and have them kill the enemy to learn the spell, but again it's finnicky Three the most viewed video on the channels is my first solo blue mage leveling guide which is still the best way for free trial players
@@TheNastyNamazu i will check that out! Thank you, am heaving a real hard time trying to do the dungeon solo. I was able to read in a forum that you dont need to get hit by the attack, but thank you anyway! For the dungeon, is it possible to do it solo? Or do ai need a especific ability, I have 1000 needles but there is a part with 4 mobs that I cant handle it at all, btw I thought self destruct didn't kill you, but it does.... Also I thought you had do do the dungeon sync so that you can learn the spell, can you do a lvl 16 dungeon at level 30 and still learn the spell?
@@patrickarraes4422 So you can do any dungeon unsynced and learn the spell, however, it's only a chance that you learn the spell. Dungeons are pretty generous with the learn rate, trial and raids are where they get annoying. If you do a piece of content synced with blue then the spell is guaranteed to be learned as long as the conditions are met, moreover, any spell needed to progress the blue questline is also guaranteed to be learned. As for doing dungeons solo you'll need basic instinct(from the master couerl in upper la noscea), might guard(from the totem vendor), and white wind(totem better options later). I have a video & stream showing how to do the shadowbringers dungeons solo.
@@TheNastyNamazu so I faced ifrit last night, I tried unsync for a couple of times and I could not get eruption, so I thought that the only way to gain the ability is by sync. I was level 23 or something, and I got those 3 spell, I had to use bad breath + toad oil so that he could miss as much as possible for me to use 1000 needle, pray so that he didn't push me mid cast. Then at half health he uses his wipe mechanic, I have to destroy the relic asap while he continues to do dmg on me + push me. Toke me some tries, but I got it. It was a bit of disappointing because it doesn't do much dmg. What I notice from your videos is that Blue mage is very op at level 50+ but my journey to there has been very, lets say complicated. Even thought I have a bunch of spells that are for lvl 40 below, I dont have vibration or ram, final sting kills me, dont have whisper etc. Do you know any early game combo that I could use besides 1000 needles?
@@patrickarraes4422 Unfortunately, blue mage doesn't really start to pick up until after lvl 50 as you noticed. This because it's when your able to get things like the remaining primal spells, missile, moonflute, ect. and because of this 1000 needles is going to be your best option until you can start doing more damage with your spam spells(around 400ish because of faster cast speed) That being said technically the best damage combo you'll have access to under lvl 50 is ram's voice(freezes) + dragon's voice(double damage to frozen); however, this requires somewhat awkward movement since ram's is a point blank and dragon's is a donut.
If you talking about learning it. The attack hits incredibly hard, so you'll just have to keep upgrading your gear/get higher lvl until you can survive it. Also make sure to use mighty guard.
@@TheNastyNamazu i was talking about using it and not dying, why de Blue Mage has a bunch of abilities that kill themselves( final sting, self destruct, transfusion)? Most of the content you do is solo, how can I make these spells work?
@@patrickarraes4422 Let's use the sunken temple of qarn as an example. If you wanted to do this dungeon solo/fast the best way to do so if to get the first boss(immune to death) to 50% then do a fully buffed final sting(moonflute + whistle) this will kill the boss then you respawn and take the short cut back to the boss arena. Another example is with the masked carnivale as long as you kill the enemy with the final sting you'll get the victory.
I wish it was a full job instead of a limited job. And the idea that it would be too broken if it was a full job is BS. They just complain about having to reshape the met not like they already do that every fucking expansion and patch.
BLU has a crazy damage output, it would absolutely break the meta. 8 Final Stings, 8 Nightblooms, and Breath of Magic + Mortal Flame are a crazy amount of damage output over the course of a fight, to say nothing of the plethora of other BLU abilities. Say what you will about the finer details, as a whole the current lineup of jobs is fairly well-balanced. Sure, some party comps are more "optimal" than others, but the fact that all content _can_ be cleared if you follow the recommended role setup in the duty description (2 tanks, 1 pure healer, 1 shield healer, 1 melee/ranged/magic dps, 1 other dps, no duplicate jobs) goes to show that the game as a whole does well on job balance. And even when not considering high-end content, they trivialize most casual content. If a sprout going through MSQ for the first time was matched with a BLU in duty finder, the dungeon or trial would go by extremely quickly and likely be somewhat unsatisfying. I for one would have been extremely confused why trash fights and even bosses were folding like paper back when I was a sprout. That said, I do think that there should be some form of "limited duty finder" or "limited job duty roulette" to match with other BLUs, especially after Beastmaster releases in Dawntrail. It can sometimes feel very isolated as a BLU, especially if you don't play on a popular server or at peak times.
Yeh all they needed was to ff 14ize it like they did with almost all other jobs(Dark knight a tank instead of a DPS, or how Red mage isnt a hybrid job where you can change how you play it for instance.) instead Yoshi P took the lazy route like always and ruined the usage of one of the most requested jobs.
Why do people like you still have this ignorant opinion? Blu isn't designed to be a part of the regular job roster. It literally has abilities that no class should ever have.

Personally I'm curious if they're going to do something special with blue in Dawntrail since we are going to the place they originate.

Iirc, basic instinct also works if everyone else dies xD you don't necessarily have to solo queue
Thanks a lot for the very informative video you just gained a new subscriber, keep up the great work
BLUE POG
hell yeah dude, thanks.
Okay, I'll do it tomorrow.
I picked up BLU just to blow myself up on Limsa and join our overlord Bombfish, now I actually sometimes play it

i started playing a few days ago with my friends who are also in your company! id like to join too!
your dark night video helped me a ton!
BLU mage is the best of all the _ Mages, no contest
I must know where to get the Blue Mage umbrella... TO THE INTERNET!
Its from the stage 32 secret achievement, and fun fact you can actually get special effect for it you complete the most recent criterion savage
thanks very much for the vid. aside from playing ff12, i haven't touched ff14 at all until recently and considerd what magic class i wanted to go for.
Someone might of caught this already, but mighty guard is #30 not #29
