I'm starting to listen to more and more of your videos. No hype, no false OMG! moments or trying to be more entertaining than your chosen subjects. Just a close, relaxed vibe between you both and a genuine appreciation for acts you may have missed. You could do a lot worse than playing one Floyd track per month as a staple part of your show, (Copyright permitting). It certainly wouldn't adversely affect your viewing figurers! And I absolutely LOVE the commercials coming in at the perfect time!
When the song starts out. It was supposed to sound like your listening to the song in an old car with just one speaker. Cars and truck used to have only one speaker inthem until the late 1970’s and early 80’s when everyone wanted load music
I always say my two most favorite groups were Pink Floyd and Rush. Then comes ELO, Super Tramp, Blue Oyster Cult, and wow. I need to start listening to my music again there are a couple of other groups and I can’t remember. This su***.
I am now 74 and way back in 1975 me and my wife saw Pink Floyd at their performance at Knebworth, Hertfordshire. They were unbelievable. We listened to the best ever music.
I read a comment on another reaction to this video, with regards to their appearance. The poster said something about how artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce spend untold amounts of energy and money on costume changes at their performances, while David Gilmour is a legendary artist and he's in a T-shirt looking like he's shown up at your home to see about the trouble you're having with the plumbing. Hype is unnecessary.
@@meanmax9663 1. I love Pink Floyd. 2. I love Taylor Swift too. Taylor performs for approximately 3,5 Hours on her Show and has about 10 minutes total for costume changes. So what is the Problem? People who are jealous will always find a reason to complain.
@foxmulder2845 I'm not complaining. You are free to like any and all performers as you choose. I made no disparaging remarks about anyone. We've been loving the Journey thus far. We have our reaction to 'Time' recorded already. Unfortunately their label has come after us pretty hard. This will be our third reaction to Pink Floyd and all three have resulted in copyright strikes. This will be a slow journey at this pace as it takes about 2 weeks, sometimes more to clear these things up.
As you correctly say Jess, this song was about someone they lost - Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd who became mentally ill, possibly due to drug use, to the point where he couldn’t fully function. The band tell of an experience they had whilst in the studio recording the Wish You Were Here Album, when Syd walked in and watched them for a while. None of the band recognised him because of how much his appearance had changed, until one of them said, “bloody hell, that was Syd”. They were astonished that after not seeing him for years, he should walk in while they were recording an album about him. Another fantastic reaction both, I love watching your channel. 👍👍
@@darkpitcher5242 Thank you. There's always someone on every Pink Floyd video who claims it's about Syd. As you say, only Crazy Diamond is about Syd Barrett, this according to the band themselves.
There is nothing like Pink Floyd, once you embrace the music, you'll be thinking and deeply about every song. Many songs will stick with you, until the day you die. That should be scary, but, it's not because those songs are what make us the best possible humans. Music is that thing, isn't it. That fire that keeps away those creatures that would kill and feed upon us, just as we would do, during the light. I'll leave you to it... All the best to you and yours. Cheers.
Much like you said....when I was younger (I'm probably older than your Pink Floyd loving dad) I was not tat into them. As I got older I have come to love them so much!! Nice reaction guys!!
If you guys ever have the 'oppor-chancity' to listen to a complete album. It has to be 'Dark Side of the Moon'. I first heard it as a teenager in the 70s. I'm now 64 and still listen to it. My fav track? 'TIME'. Thanks for your reactions guys. Greetings from Scotland.
Wish You Were Here is a great album to listen to in its entirety. Especially with a touch of psilocybin. Brings out things that you never noticed before.
For my dad’s funeral we put a bunch of pictures together in a slideshow with some music. I picked a couple different alms and this was one of them. Considering he introduced me to Pink Floyd, and I grew up listening to them because of him, it felt appropriate. Still makes me emotional to hear the song because it’s forever linked in my mind with losing my dad. I miss him every day.
Saw them in Vancouver BC. Amazing! The whole vibe was just indescribable. And this song, singing along with the whole crowd, there is nothing like it! 50,000 people with a like mind. Just mind blowing!
The triangle on the logo you mentioned is actually the image of a prism, and the multicoloured beam is what happens when you shine a light through it, as the constituent colours of a rainbow become visible. This was the logo used on the cover of their album, “Dark Side of the Moon.”
Being there watching this was such an honour for me. I was 12 years old when I first heard Pink Floyd. I was hooked ever since & I'm 58 now. My younger brother & myself travelled 200 miles to see this concert, a dream come true. Pink Floyd are a phenomenon. 🇬🇧
Using voices as instruments was all part of the experimental era in music and many artists did it. This song is however a standout. There were no computer programs back then just mixing tapes and talent. Live performances showcased just how talented musicians and singers were back then.
We pink floyd lovers no longer have to worry about reactors interrupting when David is in the middle of doing something iconic because you tubes f’king ads are now doing it. Good reaction btw, it’s about Syd barret.
Oooh you need to listen to the whole album. Grew up with PF & Classics since a kid ( thanks to my family who listened to all the good sounds back in the day) wow enjoy guys, First time in seen Pink Floyd Live was in 1988 New Zealand 🇳🇿
I used to listen to and have their LP's many, many years ago in the 70's - Funnily enough Animals was my favourite LP.... Would play it over and over and over again...
Guys I gottan know. hw old are you guys? My guess is mid 30's, very interesting that some of the music you react to for the first time, as I feel you must have known some of it, I grew up on the 1975 album wish you were here. this is like coming back home to an old familiared friend
I love this song and I hate this song, because of where it takes me, it's reduced me to tears more than once, when I was 18 I bought a guitar and started to learn to play it , my friend who was 16 at the time and a fantastic guitar player was teaching me play both guitar parts from the beginning of the song (only had the guitar a couple of weeks) ,I was doing ok and picking it up quite quick, when out of the blue he killed himself, no sign of problems or requests for help, he just got up in the middle of the night and hung himself and because of how he did it it also decapitated him, so whenever I hear this it reminds me of him both the good times and bad, Forever Young wee man Forever Young. Fly High with Eternal Happiness my young friend and may you Rest in Peace and I'll see you again in the future. 💔
Pink Floyd albums are a whole piece. It’s a musical journey. Great songs certainly, but the journey is what you have to experience. Dark side of the moon, wish you were here and The Wall are the best for me.
Way back four decades ago. My senior year in high school we had lost 14 classmates during the year to various things like sickness, car accidents, house fire etc. We decided to use this song as our graduation song and also the theme for our yearbook to remember those that were no longer here. This song will always be bittersweet for me because of the joy and sorrow of that year.
Hey U2 Sweethearts, thank U SOOOOO MUCH for reacting to that! I can watch this over nd over again, it is such an intimate Moment, when this genious, David Gilmore, is just by himself with his Guitar, and he allows us to whitness, such a special moment of wonderful art, shining - hopefully - over all coming ecade of human eistence, ll the best 2U.
Whilst recording Shine On during the Wish you Were Here sessions a fat man with no hair or eyebrows walked in and nobody from Pink Floyd recognized him for ages until they looked into his eyes ... It was Syd
Looks like a plumber who comes to your house and very nice man. Great Reaction! Need to listen to Dark Side Of The Moon whole album straight through unreal!
My dad grew up with this music, and turned me on to it in my teens in the 90's. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, are 2 bands you NEED to listen to in their whole. They have SO MANY epic songs you've def heard in movies and TV shows, Because they are so iconic.
Sadly, I've only seen PF live once,but........wow! It's really something else. And this comes from an old punk rocker with tons of amazing live show memories.Great reaction guys ❤❤❤
Great reaction to a great song. You should watch David Gilmours latest new song . The song Between Two Points . David performs with his daughter Romany 👍. High Hopes is another great song Pulse concert.
This is the BEST version of this song ever.....and live. 3 of the best rock / pop albums ever and many more good enough to be in the top 50 albums of all times. Many timeless songs from even their lessor albums. This 1994 world tour was probably the biggest and BEST world tour in the history of humanity, and possibly a collection of the GREATEST concerts ever performed.....a rock group giving opera and orchestra quality LIVE !!! To know Pink Floyd i suggest you do the concerts opening number, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, then the 2 closing encores in order......Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell. After those you will be ready for their albums and every video of their live act you can find. lol
The reason I watch Pink Floyd reactions is that in my 20's and 30's I saw them live, including the Pulse concert. However at the time I completely took them for granted. We'd jump on the tube and and hour later we'd be at one event or another, have a pint, watch a show and get the train home and the next week we'd do it all again with another band. Floyd, Queen, U2, Dire Straits, Supertramp etc etc. Its only now I realise what an incredible period it was to see and hear fantastic music. "On the turning away" "High hopes" and my fav "Sorrow" all at the pulse concert are all superb compositions.
You just described a large part of my life. Living and growing up in London, you could go and see a top band EVERY NIGHT OF THE YEAR somewhere in the capital. You’re right,we took it for granted, and the tickets were reasonably priced too. Great great days.
I’ll start again ( bloody cats need feeding ) I watch your stuff and your so entertaining . I’m 69 now and remembering buying dark side and still got it, all the tracks are still unbelievable but great gig in the sky still gets the tear ducts going . The live pulse version is very moving .
What you need to do now to complete the feeling behind Wish You Were Here, is to listen to Shine on You Crazy Diamond. All the parts! It will blow you away! Guaranteed!
What this makes me feel is that in year 2525 ;) people will still feel the way you say this song made you feel. The way this song made so many people before you, feel. The way it made me feel. The way it STILL makes me feel
Another song that kind of matches this in atmosphere and beauty is the song "High Hopes" from the same concert! The guitar solo at the end of High Hopes is absolutely haunting!! David Gilmour looks like some guy who's just going to the hardware store to get something rather than a rockstar!! Again High Hopes is an absolutely beautiful song done incredibly at this concert!!! If you want another beautiful song do "Us and Them" from the same concert! Last note if you want to hear songs that are a lot heavier from this concert either "Run like Hell" or "One of These Days"!
This is my all time favourite pink floyd song, even to the extent I have chosen it as 1 of my funeral songs.ive been a fan since 1979,i was born 1974.❤❤
"Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is a tune written about Syd Barret, one of the original members who quit due to mental health issues, and it's an absolute MUST!! Especially as a 'close your eyes and chill' tune... 😎
I think i may have said in your Comfortably Numb video that i was there at the Earls Court concert, and watching you experience it for the first time, brings me back to that night and making me feel how i felt watching it live at that time. It still to this day, is the best show ive experienced live to this day. And ive been to a lot of great acts live. Thank you for making me feel that again, theres nothing like it.
The Great Gig in the Sky.... A stunner, Jess, it will hit you in the feels... as a 30 year fan of Pink Floyd Perhaps move away from the pulse and back to the early 70's and the Echoes pt1 live at Pompeii. To see most of the original band in total unison musically and socially is a rare thing. Well worth a look.
...absolute milestone song of theirs, and it has a chilling story to it: this song was dedicated to an original + founding member of the band, Syd Barrett, who lost his mental health due to intense drug use in the 60s already, and he had to leave the band... he had been very sparkly and witty up to that point, and the band still processed that trauma of loosing him through this song... ...and while they were recording that whole album someone entered the studio, looked a bit around and left again, and it was him - they didn't recognize him first, as he had changed so much... when they realized, that it had been him, they were absolutely in tears... a heart-breaking story, written by life itself... 💖
They looked completely different when they were youngsters. Watch Echoes live from Pompeii from 1972, and you'll see the boys just about to enter their peak. Skinny greasy long haired kids and not the refined looking middle aged gents they are here.
This song is about one of the groups founders Syd Barret who had access to chem lab produced acid at one of the universities and one time took super strong LSD. Afterward he was missing and lost for years and eventually showed up at the recording studio still strung out. I loved listening to all their music in the 60s and on. They were and somewhat still are one of the best UK bands ever! I enjoyed seeing your reactions to the band in concert on this song and Comfortably Numb.
Recommend any thing from this Pulse concert (restored). In fact, get your favourite drink, turn the lights off and watch the show from start to finish… and what an ending it has (Run Like Hell)! Enjoy
As others have said, this song is about Syd Barret, founder member of Pink Floyd who went through mental struggles. The lyrics are awesome on so many levels...... Thanx for the reaction. Cheers
it's not though. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is specifically about Syd, but WYWH is not. It's about absence and missing in general. Which can include Syd, sure, but is not about him in particular.
As a life long floyd fan it’s So wonderful to see your reaction to this. The whole the pulse concert is just superb. Enjoy the journey it’s a great one. There are so many to choose from but def try On the Turning away.
Tip: always watch the live music in preference to the studio music. In my opinion, it is much better, and you also get amazing visual stimulation; and don't close your eyes for one second or you might miss something.......
I first saw Floyd in 1972, unfortunately a number of years after Syd had left the band. In 1972 they were still tinkering with Dark Side of the Moon. I saw their final concert in 1994 in London. They will always be one of my favourite bands. I am pleased you enjoyed this.

You’re so right, three excellent vocalists and not a single word sung.
Saw this concert at Earls Court all those years ago. Definitely the best concert experience of my life.
...absolute milestone song of theirs, and it has a chilling story to it: this song was dedicated to an original + founding member of the band, Syd Barrett, who lost his mental health due to intense drug use in the 60s already, and he had to leave the band... he had been very sparkly and witty up to that point, and the band still processed that trauma of loosing him through this song...
...and while they were recording that whole album someone entered the studio, looked a bit around and left again, and it was him - they didn't recognize him first, as he had changed so much... when they realized, that it had been him, they were absolutely in tears... a heart-breaking story, written by life itself...
We use to lay in a dark room and "smoke" while listening to Pink Floyd and explore our young minds😂
Been doing this regularly since i was 16 and I’m now 75 amazing when stoned
Coming back to life is another song from this concert that is a must.
Recommend any thing from this Pulse concert (restored). In fact, get your favourite drink, turn the lights off and watch the show from start to finish… and what an ending it has (Run Like Hell)! Enjoy
I think you would love echos live at pompei ❤, it’s incredible
I saw David playing this live on the 10th October at the Royal Albert Hall, an utterly spine-tingling performance.
Pink Floyd is my favourite band ever. You have to try shine on you crazy diamond it’s amazing.
Oh shyte this was a long time ago, to think that David Gilmour is now 78 and Nick Mason is 80 years old. Thankfully there recordings and videos.
Esta cancion esta inspirada en el fundador de Pink Floyd, El Gran Syd Barrett !!!
The drummer Nick Mason bought a vintage Ferrari 250 GTO for £35k with his first big pay cheque, it's now worth £40m.
Great investment!
I was 20. Madison Square Garden July 77. When pigs fly!
definitely listen to "high hopes" from the same concert :), great review by the way X
Wish you were here was written for a member of the band who went of the rails big time, the original song writer/singer/player Syd Barret RIP.
The great gig in the skay, Pulse concert
Nice tune to play on the guitar with the wee rifts 🫶🏴
I saw this show in Copenhagen 1994, best show i ever saw
Beautiful song!, one of my favourites for sure ♥x.
High Hopes from same concert....👍
I saw them twice in concert. Epic.
I recommend High Hopes next. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is also epic and it introduces the artist.
As a life long floyd fan it’s So wonderful to see your reaction to this. The whole the pulse concert is just superb. Enjoy the journey it’s a great one. There are so many to choose from but def try On the Turning away.
Welcome to the world of Pink Floyd…next HIGH HOPES
This song is perfect listen to the fans reaction after it finishes
Tip: always watch the live music in preference to the studio music. In my opinion, it is much better, and you also get amazing visual stimulation; and don't close your eyes for one second or you might miss something.......
Another Brick in the Wall is a great Pink Floyd song! Great video guys!
I first saw Floyd in 1972, unfortunately a number of years after Syd had left the band. In 1972 they were still tinkering with Dark Side of the Moon. I saw their final concert in 1994 in London. They will always be one of my favourite bands. I am pleased you enjoyed this.
Great sound quality.
"Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war/For a lead role in a cage?"
If you can, listen to Dark Side of the Moon start to finish. Masterful. In my opinion, their best.
