Hi! Glad you like Pink Floyd music. I worked on the stage crew for the Pulse Canada tour. It was awesome! I'm glad there are videos of the so many great bands of the 1960's to 1980's for young people to enjoy & the music will live on.
Not the most "typical" Pink Floyd track but none the less iconic. As the title track of the album Wish You Were Here, this sums up the feeling of loss. Founding Band member Syd Barrett, had dropped out of the band suffering severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse. During recording a fat bald man with shaved off eyebrows wandered into the studio. It took several minutes before they realised this was their old dear friend Syd. Roger Waters broke down and cried when he saw what had become of Syd. So this song is set up, as a Rock Star listening to an old fm radio, as one of his old hits is played on the radio he picks up a guitar and starts playing along, reliving former glories alone and without those old friends.
So was I. 49 now, and it's still the most incredible musical experience of my life. Denver, 1994. ...My God... That was 30 years ago this summer. It goes so fast.
50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody! I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 1969 (Ummagumma) and saw them live in 1971 and 4 more times after that. For me This is the BEST band of all times. Now I'm 71 years old and still listen to them everyday.
This song has a special place in my heart ❤️ my brother from another mother / my drummer and one of my closest friends taught me how to play the solo and many years later I played and sung at his funeral with his brother. It was one of the hardest things that I have ever done but also a perfect moment. Great reaction 👏

I was fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd in concert during this very tour. If I'm not mistaken, the concert you watched took place in October of 1994 at Earl's Court in London. I saw them earlier in the tour in May of 1994 in the old Foxboro Stadium in Massachusetts. It was an experience I will never forget. It was surreal. I'm anxious to see you react to other songs from this concert (especially Comfortably Numb). There's also an excellent live performance video from their previous tour in 1988. The song "On the Turning Away" from their Momentary Lapse of Reason album. Great reaction.

I have the 'Pulse' DVD, it is now out on Blu-Ray with 5.1 DTS in a deluxe version that also has the full 'Dark Side of the Moon' set from the two concerts from 'The Division Bell' concert tour that played the full DSOTM for the first time in decades instead of the set list from the rest of the tour. That is the name of the concert series, whereas 'Pulse' is the name of the live album from the tour as well as the film which became available on DVD, now Blu-Ray. Worth Having!
Im 68, all my kids were raised on Pink Floyd, Chris Rhea, Freddy Mercury( Queen) and many other musicians/albums/singers. ( My eldest is 50, and she still loves all the music from their childhood..as do all my kids)

There is a video of 2 street performers playing Wish you were here in an Irish train station, that is very good. But the crowd that forms begins singing (it may be a flash mob) but it was very moving to me to think of that many people young and old singing those beautiful lyrics together. Thank you for sharing..I really enjoy seeing a younger generation take the time to introduce themselves to and appreciate music that I have been listening to all my life. Pink Floyd is one of the few groups that has been in almost continuous rotation on my play list since the 1970’s. I highly recommend you listen to both ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ and ‘Wish You Were Here’ albums in full. You won’t be disappointed.

`Probably the most animated the audience got during this concert was during the finale, "Run Like Hell," which is in the more energetic vein, but it's still so well done!

I was fortunate to sing along with this song with 110,000 other souls. It was nothing short of magical...... Try "On the Turning Away" and "High Hopes" from the PULSE concert. The audience you spoke of was *transfixed*, because it was THAT kind of concert. I had the pleasure of seeing this tour with 65,000 friends, and it was mind-bending, start to finish. The PULSE Concert (so named because the first CD release had a red LED in the spine that flashed, or 'pulsed') has been called arguably the greatest concert performance ever recorded. It is uniformly excellent throughout. If you choose to review another Pink Floyd song, you can pick any song from this concert, and know that A) the audio will be superb, and B) your viewers (and you) will be mesmerized by the visuals of the show. But if you review anything else from PULSE, your next reaction MUST BE "Comfortably Numb". Trust me, it brought the house down. After that, personal favorites include "High Hopes", "Time", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts 1-5 & 7" (a lengthier cut), or "Run Like Hell", typically the concert's finale. For a new and different "band" to listen to, I want to suggest a Music Production Company called Two Steps From Hell. As a gamer and/or a film-watcher, you've probably heard their music and not realized it. They are two composers, one from LA and one from Norway. They write music primarily for movie and video game ~trailers~ so their musical compositions are typically short, intense. and VERY cinematic. Their music can be heard in the trailers way back in Mass Effect 2 & 3, various recent Star Trek trailers, several Harry Potter films used their music in trailers, as well as some teasers and trailers for MCU films. TSFH's music makes you feel like you could run through a wall, like you're leading an army into a great battle. For a first taste, I'll recommend "Flight Of The Silverbird".
Van Morrison quite regularly scats to the guitar as well… Also, in the future you might like Jethro Tull, one the most dynamic live bands in our time (the 70s)… can’t say too much but prepare for your jaw to hit the floor.
A great reaction Juliett. This gig was at Earl's Court with a capacity of 22,000, and Pink Floyd sold out for 13 consecutive nights. Although one of my favourites, most pieces by PF are rather more expansive. My own favourites are Comfortably Numb (from the Pulse gig) and Brain Damage/Eclipse (never separate them!). Also as you were struggling to get your head around the concept of time, you'll definitely enjoy "Time" which hits you harder with each passing year. I envy you the journey on which you are embarking!
Great reaction 👍 One of the most engaging concerts of "our" era (yep I'm an old bastard) the entire gig is available on YT and well worth watching, turn it up, turn out the lights, lay back and fly the sound waves. Try "keep Talking" from the same gig, David actually becomes one with the guitar, it's exquisite.

Yes, I’m older, born in 60. Music in the 60’s, 70’s was different. This song is from the 70’s. You could react to Electric Light Orchestra - Telephone Line. ELO is another step down from the hard rock. Like Pink Floyd they have a unique style and sound, all bands had character back in the day. Subbed for the journey.
Everyone was watching because cellular phones were not common (and were huge, lol). If you liked this light show, I would suggest Comfortably Numb (the song you accidentally mentioned). Some still say it is the pinnacle of concert performance.

Another great group from the 70s is Yes. You will be amazed at how great of musicians they are. One of their earlier songs is Seen All Good People from The Yes album. That would be a good introduction to the band.
If you want to see what Pink Floyd looked like when they were more your age then go back to their 1971 recording of "Echoes", from Pompeii. It is long, a total of 25 mins, but is in two parts. And as you have covered Nightwishes cover of "High Hopes" then it would be nice to see your reaction to the original, also available during the Pulse concert. If you want stage lights and a guitar solo, or 2, then the Pulse concert version of "Comfortably Numb" would be your thing.
How great was that? Truly one of Pink Floyd's best known songs and albums, brought to life at the legendary Pulse Concert. You should do Comfortably Numb from the same show, it came right after this song you just heard and is quite the contrast with this acoustic based classic. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles are the cream of classic Rock and well worth exploring, you will be amazed at how great they were, they will be listening to this music centuries from now. GREAT reaction 👏👏👏 As comments have stated, there are MANY tracks to choose from Pink Floyd’s PULSE gig in 1994, but seeing as you mentioned it, you should really consider reacting to the studio track *TIME* from The Dark Side of the Moon It’s a life-affirming track that stays with you throughout your life and only improves as you age 👍
If you get chance, Sorrow from pulse is great with Comfortably Numb. Round it out with Great Gig and then Run to shake things up. For another well known classic Pulse again, Another Brick N The Wall. Speaks to something all thinking ppl can relate to. Good Job.

To listen to Pink Floyd is not to listen to music but rather allow this band to take you on a musical journey like none other. You MUST try Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" album, produced & released in the Spring of 1973. As you mentioned (TIME), they have a song on that album entitled TIME. A MUST LISTEN to truly appreciate the talents of this band. They are, as I mentioned, like none others that you have ever heard.
If you are going with classic bands I will offer up Triumph. One of the most under appreciated and overlooked bands. Rik Emmett is immensely talented at both his singing and guitar playing. I would recommend starting with Magic Power the live performance from either the US festival or Halifax.

There is a video of 2 street performers playing Wish you were here in an Irish train station, that is very good. But the crowd that forms begins singing (it may be a flash mob) but it was very moving to me to think of that many people young and old singing those beautiful lyrics together. Pink Floyd is one of the few groups that has been in almost continuous rotation on my play list since the 1970’s.
I highly recommend you listen to both ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ and ‘Wish You Were Here’ albums in full. You won’t be disappointed.

Thar was 94. I first saw em in 73 and 3 times after. The last in 79 so,everything being relative, you weren't a gleam in your daddy's eye. Enjoy... I have for over 50 years.

`Probably the most animated the audience got during this concert was during the finale, "Run Like Hell," which is in the more energetic vein, but it's still so well done!

Great reaction to an amazing song. Thank you for that Jess. My first time seeing Pink Floyd was Sept. 19th, 1987 in Philadelphia at JFK Stadium. I was fortunate to sing along with this song with 110,000 other souls. It was nothing short of magical...... Try "On the Turning Away" and "High Hopes" from the PULSE concert. You'll thank me later. 😉
The audience you spoke of was *transfixed*, because it was THAT kind of concert. I had the pleasure of seeing this tour with 65,000 friends, and it was mind-bending, start to finish.
The PULSE Concert (so named because the first CD release had a red LED in the spine that flashed, or 'pulsed') has been called arguably the greatest concert performance ever recorded. It is uniformly excellent throughout. If you choose to review another Pink Floyd song, you can pick any song from this concert, and know that A) the audio will be superb, and B) your viewers (and you) will be mesmerized by the visuals of the show. But if you review anything else from PULSE, your next reaction MUST BE "Comfortably Numb". Trust me, it brought the house down. After that, personal favorites include "High Hopes", "Time", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts 1-5 & 7" (a lengthier cut), or "Run Like Hell", typically the concert's finale.
For a new and different "band" to listen to, I want to suggest a Music Production Company called Two Steps From Hell. As a gamer and/or a film-watcher, you've probably heard their music and not realized it. They are two composers, one from LA and one from Norway. They write music primarily for movie and video game ~trailers~ so their musical compositions are typically short, intense. and VERY cinematic. Their music can be heard in the trailers way back in Mass Effect 2 & 3, various recent Star Trek trailers, several Harry Potter films used their music in trailers, as well as some teasers and trailers for MCU films. TSFH's music makes you feel like you could run through a wall, like you're leading an army into a great battle. For a first taste, I'll recommend "Flight Of The Silverbird".

Also, in the future you might like Jethro Tull, one the most dynamic live bands in our time (the 70s)… can’t say too much but prepare for your jaw to hit the floor.
A great reaction Juliett. This gig was at Earl's Court with a capacity of 22,000, and Pink Floyd sold out for 13 consecutive nights. Although one of my favourites, most pieces by PF are rather more expansive. My own favourites are Comfortably Numb (from the Pulse gig) and Brain Damage/Eclipse (never separate them!). Also as you were struggling to get your head around the concept of time, you'll definitely enjoy "Time" which hits you harder with each passing year. I envy you the journey on which you are embarking!
Great reaction 👍 One of the most engaging concerts of "our" era (yep I'm an old bastard) the entire gig is available on YT and well worth watching, turn it up, turn out the lights, lay back and fly the sound waves. Try "keep Talking" from the same gig, David actually becomes one with the guitar, it's exquisite.
good to see you enjoyed it the exact same way we all do watching them live, i was at the concert before pulse and they are something you will never forget. have a listen to genesis - home by the sea live from the same year. and another one to listen to is the band "camel" the track 'sahara, or lawrence' and of course more of pulse, any track is worth it.
I was the Miami stop on ths tour. I looked at the ticket the other day and it was $35 to see the show. That was the price of decent dinner back then.

Your journey as begun. I have been on the journey since 1972. I can give you a band from the era of the 1970's but list is long, that is perhaps the greatest decade of rock music. The legendary bands were just falling out of the sky and the music was just fantastic

Yes, I’m older, born in 60. Music in the 60’s, 70’s was different. This song is from the 70’s. You could react to Electric Light Orchestra - Telephone Line. ELO is another step down from the hard rock. Like Pink Floyd they have a unique style and sound, all bands had character back in the day. Subbed for the journey.
Everyone was watching because cellular phones were not common (and were huge, lol). If you liked this light show, I would suggest Comfortably Numb (the song you accidentally mentioned). Some still say it is the pinnacle of concert performance.

Another great group from the 70s is Yes. You will be amazed at how great of musicians they are. One of their earlier songs is Seen All Good People from The Yes album. That would be a good introduction to the band.

It is long, a total of 25 mins, but is in two parts.
And as you have covered Nightwishes cover of "High Hopes" then it would be nice to see your reaction to the original, also available during the Pulse concert.
If you want stage lights and a guitar solo, or 2, then the Pulse concert version of "Comfortably Numb" would be your thing.
How great was that? Truly one of Pink Floyd's best known songs and albums, brought to life at the legendary Pulse Concert. You should do Comfortably Numb from the same show, it came right after this song you just heard and is quite the contrast with this acoustic based classic. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles are the cream of classic Rock and well worth exploring, you will be amazed at how great they were, they will be listening to this music centuries from now. As comments have stated, there are MANY tracks to choose from Pink Floyd’s PULSE gig in 1994, but seeing as you mentioned it, you should really consider reacting to the studio track *TIME* from The Dark Side of the Moon
It’s a life-affirming track that stays with you throughout your life and only improves as you age 👍
Try The Humbling River by Puscifer. (I was finishing my BSc degree when Pink Floyd produced Wish you were here.)
Much as I love this performance, I recommend the original from the 1975 album of the same ('WYWH') name: one of my all-time, desert-island favourites
If you get chance, Sorrow from pulse is great with Comfortably Numb. Round it out with Great Gig and then Run to shake things up. For another well known classic Pulse again, Another Brick N The Wall. Speaks to something all thinking ppl can relate to. Good Job.

To listen to Pink Floyd is not to listen to music but rather allow this band to take you on a musical journey like none other.
You MUST try Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" album, produced & released in the Spring of 1973.
As you mentioned (TIME), they have a song on that album entitled TIME.
A MUST LISTEN to truly appreciate the talents of this band.
They are, as I mentioned, like none others that you have ever heard.
If you are going with classic bands I will offer up Triumph. One of the most under appreciated and overlooked bands. Rik Emmett is immensely talented at both his singing and guitar playing. I would recommend starting with Magic Power the live performance from either the US festival or Halifax.
