If I’m driving a ev, I care most about battery range, charging time, and the efficiency. Idgaf about the horsepower.

Leave the neck breaking 0-60 high output cars for the super car segment. Regular cars need range, efficiency and mass market pricing.
but there are lots of cars with focus on range etc. this is just for other people (not me). I dont see it happen for Alfa, its a tiny Company.
I've test driven the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio, the HiPhi X (now in car heaven), the Lucid Air Dream. Nobody needs more than the 510 hp the QV produces. It is fun to brag with it, but in real life conditions on public roads, this level of power is more than you'll ever need, even in Germany. What I would like to see is fast charging, real fast charging. If a company is able to achieve a charging speed of 10 to 80 % in less than 5 minutes with no or very little battery degradation, it is game over for ICE cars. BEV are already much more energy efficient, quieter, less polluting and with considerably lower running cost. Add fast charging to be mix and you'll win the market.
I love ICE and hybrid, and I think you are right. Only so much power can be safely used on even the best public roads. The problem with battery EV is the batteries. Electric driving is great. It’s living around the limits of battery chemistry that’s the problem.
It is time that cars like these should participate in the /4 hours race of LeMans.
Power and speed is one thing, but handling bad road surfaces, range, and charge-times is something different…
Sam said Alfa Romeo don’t currently have an EV whilst discussing this electric Stelvio but they’ve just launched the Milano/Junior. It doesn’t seem like he’s fully on top of his brief as an ‘Electric Viking’!
The real question is, why not concentrate on affordable BEVs for the masses? That is what is needed by people, not these Hero supercars for the one percent! As an example, the Dodge Viper was produced for 32 years, but during that time, only 32,000 were ever manufactured! They were eye candy, and neat to see the one in the local Dodge Dealer showroom, but what it really sold was Dodge Grand Caravan Minivans, pick up trucks, Neons and Little shitbox economy cars, made by Mitsubishi for Dodge!

China doesn't want to buy Alfa because it's dying, they want to buy it because of it's brand cache and they would hope to get it cheap.
Stellantis CEO is only saying Alfa Romeo is the crown jewel of the company because he just wants to jack up the selling price of that POS company, before they unload the lemon off on the chinese.
More range, more range, more range. 0 to 60mph in 8 seconds is more than fast enough for 95% of drivers..
Alfa Romeo isn’t intended for 99% of the drivers…

Agree totally that high power, fast EVs are unnecessary. I am hoping that governments legislate the need for speed limiters in these vehicles. There is a market for the ownership of a fast car. It's been a theme for petrol heads to modify their cars to increase the power. Race to the bottom, but you have to find a way to get people out of ICE cars.
I also saw the pledge to shut down the channel if the Tesla layoff report was true, I’m gonna give him a pass cause I enjoy the show but it was a mistake to make such a bold statement despite Sam’s love for the Tesla brand 😂

What is it with this "plaid" nomenclature? Completely inappropriate for any Italian car, and especially Alfa Romeo. The top of the line Alfas have always been called :Venice" or later "Quadrafolio". But calling an Alfa "plaid" is not cool. Italian cars are not "glad to be plaid." What a travesty!

If Stellantis wants to sell the brand then this news will help pump up its value. Reality be damned.
The question is how many will buy it? (population getting older not younger) How many can afford it. All the young population are struggling to pay their mortgages. The rich are getting very rich, but ninety over percent of population getting poorer. Nonetheless, it is a very beautiful car with lots of power. Sadly, Alfa will go the way of MG.

Regarding Matt at CarWow, first of all, he was playing with the car with the ESC (electronic stabilization control) (trajectory)OFF and Traction Control (anti-spin) OFF,
making the car go into limp mode.
After that, he launched it three 3️⃣ times with all the help system off (ESC & Traction),
Doing that with an SUV with 900-something HP on a piece of an old runway with asphalt of sub-standard quality totally covered with centimeters of water and expecting the car not to behave as it did is plain stupidity.
Everything went absolutely fine when he activated the ECS and traction control.
It’s just that when Lotus and the other hardcore sports brands say the systems are off, they are more off than an average consumer car.

No disruption. I like Tesla but the cyber truck is a dud and Like Ford they went the wrong way. They should have dump FSD and built the less expensive $25,000 dollar car. Get rid of the subsidies and stop telling people in the US. They have to buy electric cars. I tried to tell you this in the beginning.

They sold these less than 40 thousand dollar trucks and delivered them at 100 thousand. Normal people can’t or won’t pay that. You have to sell the masses on these better, quieter ,smoother cars. They are not for everyone.

A 1000hp with a 2800kg car... not very interesting. Lightweight and fast is the way to go. A heavy car needs loads of torque and a stiff body shell with expansive suspension.
