Hey Scotty I have a question, should I buy a car from Copart ?
Hey scotty i have a 1942 Toyota bonzai harakiri. Do i keep repairing it?
I LOVE my stelvio 108k since new and zero mechanical issues.
What year? You haven’t had any issues? I’m looking at both the sedan and SUV. They are becoming painfully cheap
Looking to sell my jeep renegade for one
You're already doing better than most GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Volvo, and BMW products.
I have a 2017 Guilia 2.0T - The headlight assembly is $400, not $2,700. This car is amazing. It's fast, it's reliable, it's beautiful, mine is all-wheel drive. Easy to work on - transmission is SOLID, engine is SOLID. Just took it on 2 - 1,000 mile trips. I've driven it 8,000 miles in the last 5 months. I have even put some additional mods on it and i am smoking dodge Chargers/Challengers, BMW's, Mercedes, etc... Amazing value. No one is going to steal it - it's too noticeable and easy to spot. This review was filled with misnomers and bad info. Go on line and you'll see almost exclusively happy owners.
yup!
Somebody backed their car into the front of my mom’s 2021 Chevy Blazer. The headlight assembly was $2,300 on the collision bill. I think it’s the nature of these fancy LED headlights.
I've come to the conclusion that these internet reviewers do whatever they need to do to create clicks and comments, and that's create controversy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with modern Alfa Romeos, but a video espousing that truth wouldn't be interesting now would it?
I have a 2020 Giulia. To me it's a fantastic car. 0 problems, just regular maintenance. Love the car.
It’ll be fine up until about 10 years/100,000 Miles. Anything after that, you’re gonna start lighting money on fire. These modern cars are more or less designed to break down after the warranty ends. It’s not like those classic analogue Mercedes from the 70’s/80’s (W123 300D for example) that were engineered to be infinitely repairable and infinitely serviceable. Plastic and computer chips won’t last in the long run. These modern Euro-Luxury cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, A.L.F.A.-Romeo, Jaguar, etc) aren’t meant to be maintained long-term past 10 years or so. They’re meant to be leased up until that point, and then junked.
ignorant answer. my bmw has 170k miles. routine maintenance. best car Iv’e ever owned and a drivers car. my Honda civic and Toyota before that cost me the same to own but were just Hondas and Toyotas. Until you experience the thrill of driving a “real” car you should keep your comments in check. have a good day
@@brianneveu6953so were the Honda and Toyota simply pretending to be a car as opposed to the beemer which is a 'real' car? What's your point?
Yeah my manager 2010 5 series is on 247k and counting. You need to take care of any car and definitely it will last forever.
Yawn
So the car is perfectly fine!! What exactly is the "money pit" of this car. My Infiniti had to have the headlight assembly replaced as well. Is Infiniti a money pit? Expensive maintenance??? Try owing a Mercedes! (Oh I did!) You can say it's an "Italian" car all you want. As far as this video shows, it's exactly the same quality as everything else on the road. Can't wait for the Tonale!
Exactly. Well said.
Oil change was $300
You cant judge an entire brand record on just this review, Alpha Romeos are notorious for their glitches..
@loopba Oil Changes are not $300, call up your local alfa dealership and it will be much lower, or you could also do it yourself for even less
Every time Scotty comes out against a particular model or make, I bump into someone who’s completely happy with said make/model…including my stelvio, which I love and the car is completely reliable
I have had Guila and stelvio quadrifoglio never left me stranded and just crazy.
Bought a new Alfa 147 2.0 T spark Lusso in 2002 it was serviced every year and maintained, parts were comparable with other brands and it gave us trouble free motoring for 16 yrs. Averaging 10,000mls a year.
those things are tanks
i own a 147 1.6 ts eco, needs some fixings to do considering i bought it at 200k km but its a lovely daily driver@@alexballantine3973
Hey everyone this is my car by the way! I had a lot of fun with Scotty and believe me this car is absolutely amazing if you consider yourself a car guy and don't want to spent your life savings on a car!!
Im not spending 29k on that garbage 🤷 $3,100 on a headlight and oil change what a joke 😆
@@FriedGreenCarrots You can do whatever you want with your money as I have done but Scotty did not do my oil change by the way, that was other fluids for the car. The oil change all in by my own private mechanic is done for $130.
By the way what year is the Alfa? I'd like to check out the reviews online. Thx.

@@MrZack562Please do it,and mostly you will find only positive things.
Own a 2018 Giulia Veloce. It’s done 56k miles and no big issues apart routine servicing. Lovely to drive. Main thing is to change the engine oil regular as the fiat multi air system doesn’t like old oil!
Ferrari developed the handling. The steering is lightening fast like the 458 italia I drove.
One know quirk on the car is the battery terminals. Keep them clean/maintained and greased and the intelligent battery system will do its job. I found electrical issues on the car were all caused by the intelligent battery system (IBS) not charging the car so I always had the smart charger on it. Now just charge it a couple of times a month.
Love my Giulia! Over 76000 beautiful miles and I love driving it! Just drove it on a 418 mile road trip. 😳 I have only had to replace a sensor and a radiator. All warranty. Bought an extended warranty as well. Previously only owned Acura. This Alfa Romeo Q4 Giulia is the best car I have ever owned. Nothing drives like one! Get my oil changes every 5k miles!
That’s a lot to repace
I personally would of kept the Acura
@@tropepe not really, and nothing catastrophic. A pinhole in a radiator could exist forever without being found. Unless you have thorough technicians.
@@Blkthunder3 it was hard to let my Type S go, but this Alfa just has a soul that's undeniable when you drive it!
Good for you. I think it just goes to show our cars can be reliable if we take care of them. A lot of people don’t.
I totally agree BUT a friend had me watch his Spider Veloce for several months while he was in Europe. What a beauty that car was and a dream to drive.
You need to do more research. The current Stellantis owned Alfa's are in the top 5 most reliable vehicles in America. There are some electronic goofs in the system, but that's what the warranty is for. The 4cyl is essentially the same as on the Jeep's, up to the cylinder head.
I had an Alfa Romeo 145 long time ago. The only biodegradable car I ever had. It was falling appart weeks after weeks and replacing any parts was costing a huge amount... and I'm in Europe!
Post of the Day. If we're honest, we've all owned similar back when.
You had me going there for a second with the biodegradable remark. Hilarious 😆
I had a Chevy Chevette in college with a bumper sticker on my back window that read Honk if Parts Fall Off
@@bghoody5665 I swear my 145 was not even really old (8 years old I think), religiously maintained and parts were literally decomposing one after the other. At the end, I had to replace a steering triangle (first and last time I ever had such an issue since I own cars) and the engineering was so bad that in order to fix this, they had to remove the engine from the car to access it... Don't ask me why! The costs were higher than the value of the car so I got rid of it. I was still a student then and I made the mistake to buy a brand new Peugeot 206 and I got rid of it after 2 years. Too many problems with the electronics. Since then I only drive German cars and never had any problems, even with my current BMW X2.
@@NVRAMboi Amen! ;)
i have a 2017 QV 2.9 V6 with over 45K on the clock - no issues whatsoever and best car i've ever driven! not sure what Scotty is on about with those engines being bad....would like to know if he's worked on any...i doubt it.
My 2018 2.0 Ti has been incredible. 70k miles and not a single hiccup. I’ll definitely buy another, probably the quad
I adore my Giulia. Zero issues. It’s a fabulous car.
We adore our Giulia and Stelvio so much that we bought out our leases! Great vehicles. We are official "petrol-heads" now!
How’s it been? do you still like it? I’ve been driving a Stelvio for a few weeks and I’ve absolutely loved it!! Really would think I’d love to have a quadrafolio
@@onefastboi14 Great machines. I'm not an SUV type guy, but when I get in my wife's Stelvio, it doesn't feel or perform like an SUV. It feels like an Alfa Romeo in all the best ways. No problems with either the Giulia or the Stelvio nearing 50K miles on both. I love the Quadrifoglio vicariously, but for me I need a four-season daily driver. And that drive can include snow, torrential rains, etc.. I need aggressive all-season tires and AWD more than ultimate speed. I could afford a QV, but the Q4 is the better choice for me.
The only problem I had was on one of my Stelvios with the battery (wife has company vehicle and left her Stelvio gathering dust for a month) they replaced it cause of the warranty but nobody wanted to come to tow us, hundreds calls to the dealership, so I learned from that and on my new Stelvio I am doing a lot of Do it Yourself and I replaced the standard battery with one more powerful and it has been a dream ever since.
Oh and the paint chips even with a spit or sneeze but I saw much harder paints in the market (Subaru, Lexus) getting chipped anyway so.
@@adriano8809 The OEM battery had issues that Alfa Romeo should have been better about admitting, for sure. Neither of our cars have the OEM batteries now and no problems since. Perhaps it's because we live in the country now, but I would say that the paint has been more durable than any of our former, mostly European, cars. Anyway, if anything catastrophic happened to my Giulia, I'd get another one without even shopping the others. I think my wife would do the same.
Is the alfa romeo stelvio 2021 a good car to buy please be honest?
ITS BADASSSSS. Just got a 2020. Best suv out there imo

Theres that. And much much fun to drive than any Japanese shitty suv i bet
How many miles on it now?

Bought my Geo metro 7 years ago for $300, 192000 miles now, 5 speed, still going strong, just changing the oil 4-5000 miles, treats me good. Definitely not luxury but I love 40 mpg and no worries
How does it handle 4 people inside.....going 55 mph......uphill......with the AC on? My 6 foot 2 coworker drives one....
The GEO Metro was a GREAT car -- made in California by Toyota.
EXCELLENT reviews from Consumer Reports Magazine.
I love my 18 Giulia not even a single problem in the last 2 years of owner
I drive an Alfa 147 and never drove a better car! I'm upgrading for a 159 which is built like a tank, chassis and engine wise.
they are great cars! i owned a 156 2.0 jts and 147 1.6 ts eco
looking forward to upgrade to a giulietta qv someday
Same I have a 1.6 88kw one. It puls good over 4k rpm. And it has a good feel and sound. Although if you drive it like a grandma not over 3k rpm to save fuel its going to smoke when its cold. I was wondering why mine was smoking. But as soon I drove it spiritually and really abused it it didn't smoke at all. Seems like the exhaust can't get hot enough. And its screaming for me to floor it 😂. Although It broke already once because of a bad bolt on one the timing belt, and my mechanic had to replace every valve and completely redone the head and all. Now it runs great. Im safe for another who knows how many km since everything one the engine is replaced.
Alfa Romeo a part of there charm is that they will break down a lot but when they are running well they are incredible and they look so so good
There can't be any money pit worse than the guy trying to rebuild the flood-damaged McLaren.
Have a 2019 Giulia, really pleased with it. Some electrical issue but nothing serious. Just change the oil more often, it's a good car.
The best luxury car from Fiat to get is the V6 diesel Maserati Quatroporte. It's their most reliable car and has good performance while still being economical
Most of the bugs have been ironed out on these. They are quite reliable and super fun to drive. I would buy one.
I bought a 05 v6 156 early 2017 and theres been zero problems. Mind you if I don't replace the cam belt soon theres going to be a big problem! Thats the main expensive thing to service. It'll be getting done soon.
I disagree with Scotty I think compared to it's direct rivals BMW, Porsche etc... it's cheaper on servicing and parts, less complicated, and has fewer gizmos to go wrong. Italian engines are always outstanding at a higher level than the opposition!

Love my Giulia!. This Alfa Romeo Q4 Giulia is the best car I have ever owned. Nothing drives like one! Get my oil changes every 5k miles!
I can name like 10 cars that drive better then that shiet..🤦
I have my current Giulia for four years and I had one for 3 1/2 years before that on a lease. Neither one of them has ever had a single thing go wrong except I need for battery replace
Hey scotty, should I get a nissan if its a manual transmission?
Or there are other problems with nissan other than the cvt transmission
I leased a 2018 Stelvio for 3 years and the only issue I had was a dead battery. Then I bought a used 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia had it for another 2 years with 0 issues, I drove those cars from Indiana to New York, Chicago, to Miami twice, to Philadelphia. I put 55k on the Stelvio and 40k on the Giulia, no issues other than a few dealership recalls.
I have a giulia veloce, no complaints apart from the German (bosch) steering rack that failed and was fixed under warranty.
Yes Scotty mentioned it again that for a performance car when it has a manual transmission, you don't need to worry about it.
Luv my 2019 stelvio got it at a great price plus warranty and life time oil change from dealership
modern alfa's actually do last quite a while. my 159 is at 250.000 km's and still going strong, i saw a Guilia qv with the 2.9 v6 that did a little over 200k miles too! like any car you have to maintain them of course, but with italian cars you just have to maintain them a little better.
I do find it odd that parts are expensive over there. i can get the same headlights used for a little under 200 euros here.
And all the fluids being that much is just a little over the top. everything i need for my 159 service costs me just about 200 euros, including all the filters, oil, etc.
250k kilometers isn't impressing anyone. That's only around 155k miles. Every modern car can last at least 200k miles now without any major issues. Japanese cars commonly make it to at least 300k-350k miles with just standard maintenance.
Enslaved to the Italian design; I love them Vespas.
@@anomaly864 i really wonder why a lot of cars are considered unreliable if "every modern car can last at least 200k"? then there simply would not be an unreliable car on the market at all...
I think the standard for car reliability needs to be more than just 100K/150K miles. My 1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo (W123) has almost half a million miles on the original powertrain. And a good number of those miles were run on refined waste vegetable oil. Generally speaking, long term car reliability is going down as time goes on. Don’t get me wrong, Toyota and Honda are still definitely the best in that regard, but you open the hood on a new 2023 Civic, you’re gonna see a plastic intake, plastic valve cover, timing belt with plastic valve train components, dozens upon dozens of computer chips. These things just aren’t gonna last in the long term like the older versions from the 80’s/90’s/00’s did/do.
One of the worst 90s Mitsubishi 4 sp automatic fail at 150k miles. CRV go over 180k miles no problem.
My worst car was Mercedes C230; never ending repairs and it was new. I drive a Honda now and have for years an never had one problem. My mechanic advised me to do this and he said he will never see me again. He was correct!
Was a Mercedes Benz technician for 7 yrs. I sure do love my Honda.
Your mechanic will put himself out of business if he keeps on giving advice like that!
Never had a problem with mine...
Seems like he kind of liked the car after all. I have an Alfa and all that talk about Alfas breaking down all the time is just nonsense.

Alfa Romeo does have a car that's based on the Mazda MX-5 Miata and uses a lot of the same parts IIRC so it should be fairly reliable - more so than most Alfas at least. The Abarth version is pretty nice.

When buying trucks, he got that car as a gift. Every week he travels an incredible 3000 km between Italy and Bosnia. When he was driving me home three days ago, the on-board computer reached an average speed of 150 km/h. Every sports professional driver from Europe knows that it is on the border of insanity or something similar to driving on race tracks. That night, in the sharpest curves of the highways, I constantly looked at the speedometer at 220 km/h. He did not mention that he had any problems with that car. Now he plans to buy a 600hp Maserati.
So the alpha romeo German transmission uses mopar transmission fluid?
Scotty any of the Mercedes Benz models would you recommend?
As well for longevity and some kind of inexpensive maintenance if possible
Appreciate the input 👌
Much blessings 🙌
W212 e350, or a 1999 w140 s500 😂
W204 c class v6
@hamzahibrahim8274 ty ..
I was looking at CLS63 AMG and cls550 older model...beasts and watching TH-cam videos in reference to those vehicles it seems not too many mechanical problems..unless I could be wrong.

Whats the price for a x5 or q5 headlight?
I took the risk and bought an Alfa Romeo 159 2.4 litre V5 diesel engine and did 50k (in less than three rears) miles with no issues.
It never broke down.
It's an inline 5, not a V5 :)
@@ravenblackops please can you explain the difference
Scotty you’re the best 😊
I love your videos, Scotty..... Thanks man. BTW, your editing is top-notch. Better than a lot of the trash that's on TV these days.....just sayin.
I don't drive now, but I think that I would find a Cheaper Way to get a Headlight or not drive at Night.
What was the extended warranty was called ?
I don't understand what's happening in the US with cars.
I know plenty of people with V6 VAG engines with over 500k km with no issues. Even now you can find plenty of audi q7 or touaregs with 300k km on them for sale, and they still hold a solid price.
People can't maintain cars or they can't drive them properly?
Here in Sydney there are limited Dealers but there is a huge ownership network and plenty of specialist mechanics who love the brand to support you.
You are wrong about the cost and availability of parts and servicing.
I owned 3 Alfas continuously for around 40 years from the seventies and found them to be utterly reliable. I had a small Alfa workshop who loved the brand and always looked after me.
And the driving experience is second to none, quite different from their overpriced German competitors.
If you buy a secondhand Giulia or Stelvio just ensure it has a flawless service history and ask the Alfa Club or Forums for a good mechanic in your area and you will never regret it.
As far as the rust myth, my last Alfa, purchased new in 1988 had a 6 year rust warranty and sure it was always garaged but it was still rust free when I had to sell it after 24 years due to my health issues, it had manual steering and clutch and demanded to be driven well.
Not ever a money pit but one of the world’s greatest secrets.
We just hope Stelantis gives up the notion of Alfa going all electric - a real travesty.
In the Netherlands we say this about Alfa Romeo :
ALFA ROMEO: Allemaal Lastige Flut Auto's, Roesten Onder Meest Eenvoudige Omstandigheden.
Translation:
ALFA ROMEO: All Difficult Flut Cars, Rust Under Simplest Circumstances.
I like that quip about Alfa's--question: How are VREDESTEIN tires? I know they are Dutch. I tried to get them on my Subaru BRZ but the importation tax was crazy.
At least my Colnago road bike is equipped with Vredestein Fortezza tires:) As a cyclist I have been using Vreds for almost 20 years.
Great video Scotty!
My son had a 2019 Giulia, gorgeous car,but constant warning lights, limp mode, and ridiculous dealer servicing prices..charging £49 per ltr for oil!!!!! He now drives a Honda.
Scotty,
U R way off the mark. I have owned a number of Fiats in the USA. NO problems. Best cars I have ever owned. Japan cars recently catching up on drivability. Stick wit what u know.
It's always amazed me how different people can perceive vehicles totally different and have complete opposite experiences on the same model. I have owned nothing but Fords and a Lincoln. Simply because I have never had any issues, yet I hear people all the time talking about endless problems with Ford. I recently brought Scotty my Fusion hybrid and was expecting the worst when the video came out. But he said almost all positive things about it, mainly the Toyota hybrid system that Ford bought lol.
Scotty will roast the car and YOU! HAHAH! Classic Scotty! =D
Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.0 Multi Air GDI is an amazing engine... best in class... blows away everything in its class...Better than Porsche Macan, Audi Q5, BMW X5, Mercedes...EVERYTHING
nothing keeps up and best MPG! 33MPG
"If" new electric cars are mandated, then we are going to have to fight the DOT. Which brings up the question. Can DOT make federal laws? Just like the ATF, it is something that may be challenged in federal court.
Since you bring it up? There was a Supreme Court case involving the EPA making regulations last term. The court basically said this is the power of congress.
