Great Work. After your first video I worked on my own templates. One thing I was able to achieve was the ability to launch AI aircraft and have them only use the "open" cats. There is a photo available online showing the spawn locations and corresponding cats. I simply blocked the spawns for cats 1 and 2 with statics, that way AI spawning on the ramp will only use the open cats (as opposed to just taxiing through the statics with no break in immersion). Then the remaining open spawns can be used by players to taxi to open cats.
@@Adalla In my "launch" setup I have cat 1 completely blocked with parked statics, then I placed statics in all the parking spots which the AI would use to taxi to cat 1 (I think there are 4 spawn spots which correspond to cat 1). So cats 2,3,4 are free and AI will taxi to one of those 3 based on their spawn spot, and players can taxi to any of those free cats they want. Elevators 1 and 2 each have a cat 1 spawn blocked, elevator 3 has a cat 1 spawn and just aft of elevator 3 is also a cat 1 spawn. and the first slot in the six pack is blocked as that is a cat 1 spawn for AI also. The layout can be changed in a similar way to you except its usually set as a trigger when recovery time comes so no one sees the change.
@@brettbonotto5840 yes for realistic cyclic ops with fixed Event launch and recoveries, makes sense to have a time based trigger to seitch deck layout.
Worked really well for me, both the as is version, and using the Supercarrier. I was also able to modify one of the deck loadouts just to see if I could do it. It took a moment to familiarize myself, but once I got the hang of the flow of the process, it was smooth and easy. Masterful piece of work @Adalla ! Can't believe this is your first one! Looking forward to whatever else you will work on next! Liked, subbed, salute! One thing that would be awesome would be a "how to" (if) there is a quick-and-easy way to bring this into an existing mission, as opposed to starting a mission from scratch. I'm not familiar enough with the architecture to just whip that out.
Glad it worked and you were able to customize it! Btw, the original templates are from RedKite, not mine. All I did was customize them per his instructions and used Radio Menus. But thanks. Yeah, doing this for each mission is a bit of work, perhaps there is a way to call a single linen item and get all this scripted in a single trigger line item, but right now it's beyond my mission editing skills :D

Thanks tedy! Yeah it's pretty cool. Especially for smaller groups that cant fill a carrier deck by having like 15 people on it. But if you think about it, even 15 people is a far cry from the 50+ aircraft that can be on deck. You always need some statics if you want to replicate real world decks.
Sorry to bother but I have not been able to find it. I downloaded the files. How do I install them in DCS? I have never installed LUA files. Thanks in advance.
@@davido1953 Hi David, please see in the video I explain how to load the files in the misison editor. The files can be anywhere on your PC. You need to setup the triggers in the mission editor and upload the files by doing the 'do script" trigger as I show in video. Once uplaoded, the files will be "inside your mission" and you dont have to have them anywhere.
@@Adalla well, when I scroll all the way in I don't see a carrier, I only see the icon, I guess I have to master the mission editor before I can figure this out

Very cool! Did you block Cats 1 and 2, spawn the AI, have them go to Cats 3 and 4, and then switch the layout to free Cats 1 and 2 for players?

How do you stop AI aircraft doing dumb stuff, like driving through all of the static objects to use a Cat that clearly isn't available for use?
Its not designed to work with AI. Ylu must be aware of AI spawns and block them soawns that use the taken cats

No, all the scripts get added to the mission in mission editor through triggers

I have not tested with non supercarrier Stennis. Sorry. And it would not be hard to remove the Superhornets. Some of the deck layouts dont have them.
