You have a great blend of realism and most importantly : STORY TELLING, IMMERSION. Keep doing exactly what you're doing now, it's spot on. My favorites are Jagdflieger for the dark vibe, and Fear the Bones because I'm an 80s kid too and I spent waaaay too many hours playing F14 Fleet Defender. :D Thanks and keep up the good work...
Man that new tomcat campaign has me excited. Even reminding me about Yalu has me begging for more time in the day! Altho a 'hardcore' scale I don't think quite does justice to the campaigns here. Most of these points relate just to the mission compomises you've been forced to make due to limitations of dcs rather than actual hardcoreness. I relate that more with accuracy with procedures etc. which you always strive a great deal for in spite of limitations. Also while I agree there is a certain level experience needed to enjoy, I have a lot of people watching campaign sessions commenting they hadn't tried them due to thinking beyond capabilities but might give go now after watching me fumble a bit. Personally I strive to have an understanding before tackling, but find campaigns a terrific learning tool too. By the end you feel like you really started to master the aircraft over the 12 or so missions & that progression is one of most rewarding aspects of them. So would still encourage people to have a go even if not totally seasoned pilots with airframe. On a side note the Kola peninsula has me excited! Some Northern europe ww2 action incoming maybe? :)
Yeah, it's very difficult to say what makes it 'hardcore' and what doesn't. This scale is more like a general guideline, e.g. Fear the Bones is not necessarily for the realism nuts and Beware Beware is not for those looking for quick fun and an engaging story. But again, each campaign is different and unique and have their merits in their own way.
I am currently working on Zone 5, and becoming a better sim pilot with every mission. It is a real challenge, Glad to see it was a 9 on the scale with how difficult it is for me!
If I may, perhaps the best way to understand both immersion and quality for players is not in terms of one to ten ratings. Rather it's a matter of being in the flow - how well matched challenge and capability are. When the challenge and your capability match up well, then you're in the flow. And THAT is where you experience the pinacle of the sim experience...or any experience for that matter 😉
This scale has nothing to do with quality or immersion as I stated in the video. But I agree, when a campaign matches your capabilities that's immersive. If you struggle too much or it's too easy, it's not that fun anymore. But skill levels are always different, so in this regard it's impossible to please everyone.
I have all of your WWII campaigns and, frankly, they're my go-to when I play DCS when I'm not dicking around in free-flight! It'd be nice to have an earlier variant of the Mk IX with a Merlin 61/63 and without the big carb intake for your Spit campigns, though I love them both regardless.
Got all your campaigns, Paradise lost is probably my fav at the mo, although that’s only because I do have a serious thing for Vietnam Huey flying. Desperately waiting for V for Victory as the Mossie is my Fav ww2 aircraft of all time. Check every patch notes hoping that one day it will be mentioned. My bro swears by Zone 5 stating it’s the best campaign he’s ever used, although I will admit I haven’t tried that one YET. I own it, just not started it. Keep up the great work mate.
Thanks! V for Victory is not gonna happen until we get the official skin template, and even then it takes a while for me the make those skins - just to manage expectations :)
Hi Greg. Great video! I really enjoyed getting to know about all your campaigns (including the ones I don't have - cos I don't have the plane). S&A sounds like it's going to be an absolute blast, so really looking forward to that one. Keep up the good work. 🙂
I appreciate the ranking system for those of us who enjoy the more entertaining/fantastic settings, it sounds like Fear the Bones and Horrido will be my cup of tea!
@@ReflectedSimulations btw the opening cinematic cutscene in Paradise Lost was such a creative solution to work around DCS' limitations! Loving it so far, even that LZ in the first mission ;)
@@ColonelAkirNakesh thanks! I love cutscenes, they're a great tool for telling a story. Much better than just hearing it from the voice overs, let alone read in the briefing text.
@@ReflectedSimulations btw it sounds like we and along with many DCS enthusiasts are around the same age. Do you remember Pacific Strike?? I loved how it would end with strike the Japanese leadership and end the war (good), drop the bomb (average), or amphibious landing of Japan (bad) based on your performance...and that you could buy the speech pack where the Japanese pilots could cuss you out during dogfights 😂
Really good video. I'm just getting into the campaigns and started with Paradise Lost.... I LOVE IT. It really makes you feel like you're there. I want to do some of your WW2 campaigns next but Im not so sure it'll be a good idea atm with my lack of nav skills in those airframes. If Paradise Lost is a good representation of your campaigns Im excited to work my way through them.
Thanks! The main difference between PL and WW2 campaigns is that in WW2 you didn't have a copilot to talk to and mostly radio silence was in effect. But they have massive formations swimming through the sky and I always marvel at those.
@@ReflectedSimulations radio silence is definitely understandable you never know when craps going to hit the fan. Haven't flown in a big formation so that's a sight I'm excited to see
You are probably the best SP content creator for DCS at the moment. I had an absolute blast flying your campaigns but you are right, it is mainly about the module. While it was kinda "dream come true" feeling in the WWII campaigns and Hunters Over the Yalu, Zone 5 was a pain lol ... I may still buy your next Tomcat campaign, first to bring support to your work and maybe to make me work on the F-14 again. I'll just wait a little to see where the AI and bugs are going because my Dominant Fury experience has been totally plagued by those problems. I absolutely loved Raven One but DF is now more a matter of "let's put that behind and move on" feeling. I don't want that to happen again for about any of you guys hard work.
@@ReflectedSimulations absolutely! I love the entertaining campaigns and the hardcore ones, rising squall was fun as hell if you ignore the voice acting, but I was a huge fan of fear the bones as well as zone 5 and raven one. The F14 is my baby and I absolutely loved zone 5 and fear the bones. I can’t wait for speed and angels. I’m stoked to fly it! I’m excited for the challenge
Nice walkthrough, I hope more content creators will do something similar. I really liked your F86 campaign. I am not much into ww2 and f14 so I have not tried the rest. Would you consider doing something for the Viper or Apache? Both modules really need campaigns of high quality like you make them :)
@ReflectedSimulations It's so true! 104th Maverick is a streamer (you probably know him) who used to fly a lot of hornet, and he has a rest screen where it's him sitting in a Honda civic on cat 1.
Great overview, thanks👍 Flew your Wolfpack and totally love it. At the moment I'm learning the Bf 109 to fly the Jagdfieber afterwards. It looks like one day I will habe flown all your WWII campains, as they are just amazing. And till then, hopefully quite some more WWII modules are available😎 Thousand thanks four your outstanding work, DCS would not be the same without your campains👍
Any chance there could be a Reflected Viggen campaign in the future? The stock campaign is okay, but I'd be super hyped to see what you could bring in terms of story telling and immersion for such a cool aircraft.
Just curious if Speed & Angels will have mandatory AAR? I have no issues doing carrier landings but for the life of me I cannot tank in the Tomcat. It's rather annoying because I have no issues tanking in the Hornet and Viper but I can't really fly level and stable enough in the Tomcat to tank.
Great work. If it wasn't for devs like yourself and the others, DCS would just be a bare bones simulator and not much else. I would however like to see more immersive, story driven and less extreme over the top realism, for those of us who want something a bit more manageable whilst being fun and immersive at the same time. More Like fear the bones, rising squall, paradise lost and the MAD campaign for the JF17 etc. :)
Thank you so much for the amazing content that you have created so far. I have found so much enjoyment in your tomcat campaigns so far... I do have one question however. Is there a way to play the tomcat campaigns in co-op so that I can have a human RIO? I'd really like to be able to experience these with an actual person in the back seat.
@@ReflectedSimulations Maybe... something smaller, less complicated... say I'd like to RIO for someone that I'm trying to get case I,II,III landings down with while having the awesome gradings and scenarios that are done in your campaign that aren't really found in the base game... I don't know... I'd pay for that miz file...
I'm even more excited for Speed and Angles now. Pushing the limits of the 14 in as close to a real world scenario as possible? Sign me up. If Zone 5 was only a 9 on the reality aspect and this is more intense than that... Anyone who beats both must be one heck of a Tomcat driver.
Yeah, I gave it a higher score than Zone 5 because in Zone 5 we let the AI do stuff its own way. In S&A we scripted even the intercept runs or the air 2 ground runs with pattern height, dive angles and so on. It was extremely difficult but worth it. Also, in Zone 5 the player has more room do solve the situation the way they want, in S&A you're expected to be on the numbers and follow briefed procedures at all times. I'm not saying it's better, I'm sure some will not like the increased workload but this is how it is :)
One of the things I love about DCS is how easy it is to adjust to the experince you want. I personally think IL-2 dose warbirds MUCH better than DCS, but I do enjoy the Korean Jets, witch was WW2 with Jet Engines basically.
@@ReflectedSimulations I find IL-2 Models Bullet Combat far better than DCS dose, At This Moment. Thats not to say it wont Change, but even though DCS still has its advantages, atm, IL-2s new Bullet impact system, in my opinion, is more accurate. DCS has the Clickable Planes, Greatest Battles has better war bird Combat.
Love your campaign's, even the ones I haven't finished because I suck. I know you've got allot of irons in the fire but if you happened to be working on a Phantom campaign you'd get my money for sure
I def care more about fun than realism. The best campaign i played is Museum Relic, a set of missions that sees you fly a 2nd generation jet in the 2000s for and against fictional countries. The "anime" campaign for the F18 sounds good too but i dont own that plane.
I've bought a couple of your campaigns in the last year, but haven't flown them yet. Real life just keeps getting in the way, but one day (I hope) I'll get to retire and can then sim my days away.
No not me. As I said in my 'how to make a campaign' video, you have to be really passionate about a module in order to invest all the time and energy into it, and I don't like the Viggen enough.
There are 3 in the making. FILO by GroundPounder, Gamblers by Baltic Dragon and one for the Kola map by me. And there is already the Red Flag campaign by Bunyap.
For Hunters over the Yalu, since the MiG-15 Ai is completely broken (seriously, some guy tried fighting it in an SU-27 and couldn't win because it was pulling 10 G turns), did you find a way to make the campaign fair, or will we have to fight cheating MiG-15s
@@ReflectedSimulations just remembering Zone V! I also prefer playing campaigns instead of multiplayer. Here in Brazil we have a Whatsapp DCS group with 210 members, some of them always play in MP... nothing wrong with that, I join them for fun sometimes, but in the campaigns I feel more immersion.
@@mro9466 I didn't take it as one, and I do agree that the quality of the AI is lagging well behind other areas of the sim, like FM, visuals, sounds, etc... It's my daily source of headache too, trying to make them behave :)
Don’t tell people why or not to play DCS. This is a game at the end of the day, and everyone gets whatever they enjoy out of this software. Stay humble.
It's not about being humble. DCS is not a 3rd person view shooter game, that's all I'm saying. If that's what somebody wants, that's OK, but they'll not be happy with DCS. That's all I'm saying.
Come on....he said the truth! Humbleness is not about staying silent. Stop this bleeding heart way of living...direct and straightforward honest comments are those that make people strong and correct to eachother. Some people need to be waken up in their lives. Hahaha, they don't sound as good as jet engines though :D Thanks for the support!
Any chance there could be a Reflected Viggen campaign in the future? The stock campaign is okay, but I'd be super hyped to see what you could bring in terms of story telling and immersion for such a cool aircraft.
Good vid! Zone 5 is my all time favorite by far!
What's the music used for the UF-1 Vietnam intro?
It's some copyright free 60s style classic rock I found on TH-cam.
@@ReflectedSimulations ah, i tried to find it but i couldn't. Loving the sound of it though :D \m/
Paco will teach you to. Both day and night.
Thank you for the kind words!
Bigger maps is a must for recreation. I'm all in for bigger maps.
Can't wait for Speed and Angels, it looks like it's going to be awesome and I love it. It's going to be awesome it sounds lime.
Well done sir.
If it is possible, expect to see a couple of youtube vids coming out soon! :D
Sorry, no coop versions :( See here: forum.dcs.world/topic/283790-reflected-simulations-faq-read-before-posting/#comment-4792604
@@ReflectedSimulations Ah, sorry for bugging you with a question you've heard so often you've made an FAQ about it...
@@dampsok no worries at all, it's a totally valid question and I'm bummed that it's currently not possible to make it work properly.
Will the Kola Peninsula F16 campaign be a Norwegian Air Force campaign?
What makes you enjoy Il-2 warbirds more? I'm curious because I tried to get into Il-2 many times but always bounced back quickly.
Okay, waiting for Speed and Angels!
Real life just keeps getting in the way, but one day (I hope) I'll get to retire and can then sim my days away.
ahh that time when jester got killed was so emotional, and was that way only thanks to the narrative of the campaign
Spoooilleeeeer! :D
Delete this. LoL.
i think the 3 modules you need for the speed and angels is f14, supercarrier and the free marianas map downloaded and maybe nevada
F-14, Supercarrier and Nevada - plus it will use 2 more free maps such as the Caucasus and the Marianas.
We need a new Mirage 2000c campaign desperately.
AS ALL WAYS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
Any chance we'll ever see a Viggen campaign from you?
No not me. As I said in my 'how to make a campaign' video, you have to be really passionate about a module in order to invest all the time and energy into it, and I don't like the Viggen enough.
All i need in my life is a reflected simulation campaign based in the Angolan border war flying south african mirage f1s
Not sure we have any suitable map for that one...
@@ReflectedSimulations syria should be a good stand in
Hey reflected, Will DCS’s new opfor AI BFM work with these missions?
Yes of course, the campaigns are DCS, whatever is in DCS is in the campaigns too
So many cool F-14 campaigns.. and such a bummer they're not designed for multicrew, so I could never enjoy them as a RIO (I don't fly the cat at all).
Why are there no f-16 campaigns?
There are 3 in the making. FILO by GroundPounder, Gamblers by Baltic Dragon and one for the Kola map by me. And there is already the Red Flag campaign by Bunyap.
Can you make an F-16 campaign?
I can and I will :)
For Hunters over the Yalu, since the MiG-15 Ai is completely broken (seriously, some guy tried fighting it in an SU-27 and couldn't win because it was pulling 10 G turns), did you find a way to make the campaign fair, or will we have to fight cheating MiG-15s
30 vs 30 individual aircraft performance matters much less than you think
Thanks
The Elgin Corridor!!
What about it?
@@ReflectedSimulations just remembering Zone V!
I also prefer playing campaigns instead of multiplayer.
Here in Brazil we have a Whatsapp DCS group with 210 members, some of them always play in MP... nothing wrong with that, I join them for fun sometimes, but in the campaigns I feel more immersion.
TOMCATS!!!!😁
Dude sounds a lot like Wags. Must be from the same town :D
Haha thanks I take that as a compliment - but I don’t think Wags is from Northern Hungary :)
@@ReflectedSimulations Definetly a compliment. Great English, and great videos. Have a great day!
I've just bought beware! beware! and let's just say, I'm not a Spitfire pro. well, wish me luck, i guess
Good luck! :)
kindA sad theres no a-10 campaigns from you lol
That plane is too complicated for me with all its gadgets haha. I’ll leave it to Baltic Dragon, he’s the true master
Study level with broken AI and missing assets ! ED has still a long way to go. We have nice aircrafts and that's it.
We cook with the ingredients we have... but yeah some AI improvements and more assets would be most welcome.
@@ReflectedSimulations that wasn't a dig at you or other campaign makers, you do great with what we have. And you do modules that few other do.
@@mro9466 I didn't take it as one, and I do agree that the quality of the AI is lagging well behind other areas of the sim, like FM, visuals, sounds, etc... It's my daily source of headache too, trying to make them behave :)
first
Don’t tell people why or not to play DCS.
I appreciate who goes beyond kindness for the sake of transparency.
