    2:57 start chain
    17:00 2nd row single crochet
    21:11 3rd row double crochet
    24:40 adding new yarn
27:08 how many rows and end in single crochet
    28:28 weave in the extra

My one tip after having made this, is make sure your foundation slip stitches are super loose!!! My scarf is a little twisty because the foundation chain is tighter than the single and double stitches- I don't mind, but I figured I would point it out for others :)

I have been crocheting for 40+ years and in all that time I have seen many instructional videos, read pattern instructions, etc. and this is the best,, simplest, most efficient, well.....PERFECT lesson I've had the privilege of watching. It covers every aspect of crocheting in the perfect order,at a perfect pace, effortless to follow....it is the exact definition of a tutorial, unlike SO MANY others, and if this is the first instructional video that you watch while learning to crochet, you WON'T need to watch another, heck, this girl is so good, you probably won't even need to use the pause button. SOOOO IMPRESSED!!

I agree. I too have been crocheting for 35+ years and she is great. I was hoping to see her add tassels to the ends. I know how but it would have been nice for others to learn from her. I am making one right now with double strands in red sparkle. I will add single stitch to both ends for a clean finish and put single tassle on each stitch instead of 4 or 5 per.

Excellent teacher!! Thank you for clarifying WHERE to put my stitch marker when starting another row for dc-on the turning chain 2! OMG. I’m crocheting! I’m really doing it! 😂. And y’all. I’m learning that it really makes a difference what type of yarn will give you the best back-bumps. Who knew! After weeks of trial and error, I ordered the Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarnspiration (72% cotton, 28% nylon). It called for an 8mm hook but I’m practicing with a 5.5. It’s a stretchy rope-like yarn that’s very easy with which to practice. Y’all! I am -hooked! 😂. Thank you sooooo much B.Hooked Crochet! You’re the bestest! 🥰

This is the best beginner video I've seen for crocheting a scarf! I loved your genius move to crochet the scarf lengthwise instead of crosswise, which is what many other videos do. It creates a much more attractive scarf because it works with the natural "grain" of a crochet stitch vs. a knitting stitch. Thank you!

In the past I've made many attempts to create a scarf, typically with knitting but I never once completed anything and often I would shove it away into storage or completely be rid of everything. My mum mentioned it's easier to crochet a scarf than to knit and I found my way here to this video and I only started last night but I finished my first ever scarf today thanks to you!

You are an awesome teacher. You did a great job explaining these stitches and demonstrated the stitches so well. The quality of your video is outstanding so it was easy to see how each step is done. Can't wait to make this scarf! Will be checking out your website as well. Thank you!!

This is everything I could have wanted from a tutorial as a complete beginner! Not too slow that I get bored and not too quick that I’m overwhelmed ❤

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been watching tutorials and practicing with little projects for the past year, but your video surpasses all of the resources I looked at previously. Thank you for speaking so succinctly, and providing a wealth of knowledge. (The white background is also much appreciated to see the stitches).

This is a great video! Thank you so much for making crochet simple. The tips that you put in this video are wonderful. This is not just for beginners. I have been crocheting for over 40 years and you gave me some hints. I have got to share this video with my fellow crocheters.
Here's a tip - I don't use a darning needle to weave the yarn ends; I kept losing them. Instead, I use a smaller-sized crochet hook to pull the yarn through.
Hats off to you my dear!

I’ve been watching all kinds of TH-cam videos on how to crochet and this one was by far the easiest to follow and understand. I really appreciate the fact you went through each row slowly multiple times and explained the how to keep the edges on the project even by using the stitch markers. Thanks so much for this! You definitely have a new subscriber!

Thank you so much for this video. My scarf doesn't look like yours, but it is functional and stays together!!! I never crocheted before last night and I am finished and going to do several more with different yarn. You made it all look so easy so I conquered my first project. Much more to come!! I am now a new crocheter. :)

I love this video. Yes I know it's a year old but it's great. I'm not a beginner, however I do love the simple stitches and patterns. Thank you for making this very easy and slow video. I had to use the speed option to speed up your video. I love this pattern. Hugs. OH and I really like your off the shoulder sweater, May I ask where you purchased it from? Thanks again.

Appreciate how you said its down lengthwise. I was about to frog my 100+ chain because I don't want it that wide, but now it makes sense if its going to be done lengthwise.. I've always done mine widthwise from knitting so it got me confused. So important yet not a lot of videos tell us this detail! Thank you so much.

Thank you sooo much, Brittany. I have been trying to crochet a scarf for my aunt for years now. Every time I create something, I unravel and start again. I've started over and over and over again for years. Yours is the first video that really makes sense to me. Not a lot of edges and I know I can do this. You are great!!! May you get your wings in heaven. Maybe I can get this scarf to my aunt for Mother's Day. Hugs.

Currently making a scarf for my boyfriend
I struggled a lot with the start chain due to constant twisting and inconsistent chains - but when I tackled the single crochet on the second row, it was so much more easier than the chains (since there was a lot of twisting, instead of using the back bumps I used the top of the chain and it still had an amazing end result
Great tutorial!~ Makes you watch a bunch of series and movies at the same time
