This is absolutely great! I’m a fellow crafter who is learning the art of crochet. It’s not my speciality and even though I’m getting better and I learn quickly, I wanted to understand why I’m doing what I’m doing and you are the first person so far that I’ve seen do that. This is a lovely tutorial ❤!! I'm making a shawl for my daughter. This is a very mindful pattern and it really makes it a unique project!! Keep up your excellent work 😍!
You are a very patient teacher. I just started crocheting again after many years and am learning so many new stitches! I think what you're calling a 'bar' is really a 'post'. There are stitches that go in front of or behind it, thus 'front post', "back post". (I'm learning terminology and abbreviations too - fp = front post, bp = back post.)😊
Thank you! And yes, it is a post.👏👏👏 I do teach the correct term when I'm teaching front post or back post stitches. Sometimes though, it's easier to also use descriptive words when you're teaching on video since it's not always clear what you're doing.🙂 💕
As a suggestion, why not teach correct verbage from the beginning? (As you would teach a proper way to do as stitch.) Or perhaps say something like, "actually called a post". It adds to your credibility. But great job!
Thnx for the feedback! Sometimes, we don't think of everything on the spot because we're focused on a lot of things while filming, and other times, certain things get cut in editing. We have to decide what clips are best and what makes the most sense to keep in for that particular pattern, so you can easily crochet it from beginning to end. We do our best to keep the most important information in there while keeping it as short and to the point and as entertaining as possible for you. But we're not perfect. It can always be better.😁
Also, It's helpful to know that the correct terminology really matters to you. I'll keep that in mind. Feedback only makes me a better creator and teacher. I appreciate it.🙏
Great! Let me know if you have any questions. There's a free pattern linked too if you'd like to download it. Thank you for the compliment and thanks for watching!💕
I happened on this video because I was looking for a different stich to make a couple scarves for my grankids.(22 & 10). This is perfect. It's unusual but not too difficult. I've been crocheting for many years. But I'm only good with scarves and blankets. I subscribed, so maybe I can try different projects. Thanks!
I'm so glad you found this video! It's such a fun stitch. I have a pumpkin that uses the same stitch- although I know it's not pumpkin season anymore. And I'll be releasing a matching ear warmer for this scarf using the same stitch! Also, a blanket idea is brewing. So I'm sure you'll enjoy that as well.😁💕
Loved this pattern and the speed at which you work and explain everything ❤ I've only been crocheting for a couple of months...first time I haven't had to slow a video down, thank you! Finished mine in 3 nights. So easy to follow along. It’s a little stiff but I’m hoping a trip through the washer will soften it some (used a different bulky yarn as I couldn’t find this brand ). Thank you for this. On to your next video!

Hello Leisha, your video just popped up on my TH-cam videos and I'm so glad it did. I know this is an older video, but I love it! I'm a beginner crochet'er and I love how well you teach! I'm subscribing and can't wait to see more of your videos, you are such a great and patient teacher! I'm going to look for some of your baby blanket videos if you have any. I love this stitch so I may make a blanket from this one. I also love your written patterns, they are so perfect and easy to follow! Thank you from the bottom of a beginners heart! :)
Thank you so much for this comment! I am over joyed that you find my videos and patterns easy and helpful. It's funny that you mentioned wanting to do a baby blanket. I'm working on my first baby blanket pattern right now! In the meantime, you can absolutely use this scarf pattern to do a blanket using a more suitable yarn. Just make it bigger! I will be releasing a complete video for a blanket using this stitch as well. I'm currently filming matching ear warmers to go with this scarf, so I hope you'll come back and check those out! I'll be posting updates on all these patterns in my community tab. I also post regular behind the scenes updates on my Instagram stories, if that's your thing.🙂@withloveleisha on insta. Just wanted to say thanks for this video❤ I wish I'd found it when I first started learning - showing how not to end up with a super tight chain, and showing how to actually see the stitches! 😂 Lol it seems obvious but I struggled so much in the beginning! I'm still pretty much a beginner and I just learned so much that i wasn't expecting to learn from this. Thank you!

Hi, thanks for this great video. I am from Indonesia. Your tutorial is very slow, step by step and i don't miss every chain until the end rows. I am a little bit confiouse about your double crochet is different, i usually get 4 loops, but is oke the result is good. Thank you very much.
Hi! Glad you enjoyed the video. The stitch is actually a herringbone half double crochet, which is why I have less loops than a double crochet. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for watching my video and commenting, it means a lot. 💕
Yes! This comes out really cozy and works so beautifully even with thinner yarns. I'll be releasing a twist on this scarf this season so hope you enjoy that as well!💕

Great new beginner stitch for me. I've been learning solely by video and can't read patterns. How about if you would put the pattern for just this little piece above so us newbies can see what it would look like in a written pattern form. I've not seen any teacher on TH-cam doing that. I feel like it's a missed opportunity to teach us everything at the same time. For those who don't care about reading from a written pattern then they can just ignore it! Thanks so much. I've subscribed so I can check back to see if this is a good suggestion and you do it, or not... no hard feelings if not. Thanks so much!❤ The young teaching the old, I like it! ❤
@smokeykitty6023 Hi there! The link to the free downloadable written pattern is in the description of this video and in my pinned comment. Many beginners have mentioned to me that they open it up and follow along to the tutorial with it. You can also print it out, if you prefer. Hope that's helpful.🙂💕
Oh wow, so exciting! I don't have a beanie/hat pattern using the same stitch yet! But I have a matching ear warmer/headband coming very soon! Hats are still a little scary for me to design, but we'll get there, haha. The video for the ear warmer is all filmed- so it'll come soon- promise! Thanks for asking!😁💕
First...I adore you. I can understand your directions very easily AND your voice is really pleasant to listen to..Thank you for taking time out of your personal life to help myself and others. Anyway, I have a question. Anybody can answer if they want, I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've got the stitch down, but sometimes I have 15 rows and sometimes I have 17 rows! Makes me so mad! What could I be doing wrong?
Hi! Thanks for the compliment! Glad you found my directions easy to follow. So you said rows but I'm guessing you meant that sometimes you have 15 stitches and sometimes 17? I would go back and pay closer attention to how you are starting and ending each row. This is a 2 row repeat, meaning there are 2 ways the rows start and end. So for the very first row where you create the gaps, you will place a stitch in the top of the post and then chain 1 for the next post, creating a gap, then continue repeating down the row, and end the same way. For the next row, you will place a stitch in the top of the first post, and then since you created a gap the row before, you'll place a stitch into that gap. Continue this way down the row. And then you'll repeat by alternating how you start and end the rows, based on which row you're on. All the even # rows will be 1 way and the odd # rows the other way. I'm guessing this is where you've made a mistake, because it's the easiest way to add extra stitches, or miss a stitch. Let me know if that's helpful! Thanks for giving my pattern a chance! ~Leisha💕
So true! The yarn definitely adds to the beauty of this scarf. I'm working on a version where I've used 3 dif colors and striped it myself. I'll post pics of it soon for you to see how it might look if you go that route. I'm also shopping for other beautiful yarns with a sheen or sparkles for this scarf, so if you come across anything you like pls don't hesitate to share with me! And thank you for your comment😁. This is absolutely great! I’m a fellow crafter who is learning the art of crochet. It’s not my speciality and even though I’m getting better and I learn quickly, I wanted to understand why I’m doing what I’m doing and you are the first person so far that I’ve seen do that. Thank you so much. Please keep it up. Noooow I finally understand why I’m putting an extra chain in some places and why I’m not. To account for the chain I’m skipping, now it makes sense 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Yay! I'm so glad this made sense to you! Thank you for taking the time to comment and give me your feedback.💕
I love your clear and concise instructions. This is a stitch I’m anxious to try. Thanks for your great tutorial.

This was the first time watching one of your videos and you made these stitches so easy to understand!! Thank you!
Thank you! So glad it was easy to follow.😁💕
You are doing a great job for beginners and going plenty slow enough. I love this scarf, just finished using a premier puzzle yarn. Used one skein and it’s perfect! Thank you!
Yay! So glad you liked the pattern and were able to make it. Ooo thanks for sharing about the yarn you used! I just ordered that yarn and I'm so excited to try it.😁💕
First time came across this pattern..it's really easy yet pretty ..used ombre pink yarn to make a scarf for my daughter and she loves it... thanks for sharing 😘
Oh, how lovely! So glad she likes it and it was easy for you to make. I'd love to share pictures of it!😁 You can send them to me on Ig @withloveleisha or email me at withloveleisha@gmail.com . Also, if you don't mind, what yarn did you use? I can share when others ask me for suggestions.🙏💕

Oh wow! 👏👏👏 That's great. So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing that. It means a lot.😁💕
Thank you for this video. This is only me second project and you have made it very clear to understand what you are doing and how to identify the stitches.

@rajanibalakrishnan8785 thank you! Oh, that's so sweet. I'm sure your shawl will be lovely!💕
You. Did a great job...going the right speed.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave this comment. And thank you for watching.🙏💕
I appreciate it.🙏
Great instructions- I am a beginner and needed this! Thank you!
Yay! Glad it was helpful for you. Thanks for the comment - and of course for watching!😉💕
Your instructions are very detailed & amazing. I love this design. It's scarf season so I will be trying this. Ty!

I hope you can teach how to make a crochet for a tumbler
Hi Lynne, great idea! Thanks for the request.💕
So I'm sure you'll enjoy that as well.😁💕
U covered all the things I needed. Thank you for being thorough

Loved this pattern and the speed at which you work and explain everything ❤ I've only been crocheting for a couple of months...first time I haven't had to slow a video down, thank you! So pleased to find the written pattern download too, having learned via TH-cam I'm having trouble understanding written patterns. Being able to split screen your pattern and follow the video has been invaluable. I'm a huge fan now ❤❤

@weirdoldhippie Hi there! Would you mind if I used your comment as a review for my pattern? It's so sweet and describes so perfectly how it can help other beginners. Please email me at withloveleisha@gmail.com and let me know- I would also like to share just your first name and a small photo of you (your profile pic is perfect), but if you're uncomfortable with that- just your screen name will work too.

I like the way you going slow for us ,thank you for showing,,,, 😊

Thanks so much! Great suggestion! That's why you're the teacher! ❤@@WithLoveLeisha

~Leisha💕

I love that yarn! I shopped man yarn stores but the continuious color change with that sheen, makes the beauty of that scarf. Nice pattern also.
