    Oh I forgot to mention that I have a tip for remembering which row you're on. When you are at the end where the chain started and you see the tail, this is where you stitch the half double crochet first. If at the end without the chain's tail, start with a slip stitch. So whenever you set down your work, you can know how to start again. Hope this helps someone.

      Thank you- this is something I was struggling with so this is exactly the comment I needed!!

      @@nothingtoseehere16 how sweet of you to let me know that. I'm always so happy to help people. Wishing you the best of luck with your project.
      I finished my scarf and managed to make a matching hat. It was tricky to figure out how to make this stitch into a hat but I lucked upon a video of a lady who turned her hat after every row of her pattern and I realized that was exactly what I needed. (So help came back to me!)
      There's a tiny line up the hat where I turned it but it's barely noticeable. The decreases turned out really easy for me too. Now I'm making mittens with the leftover yarn but not going to use this stitch.

      @@naticrochet I also learned to crochet on TH-cam. For some reason I could never get how to do a slip stich after watching this video you made it so easy to figure out. Thank you can't wait to make this scarf.

    I learned very basic crochet techniques (like how to make a slip knot, a single crochet and a double crochet) from the mother of a childhood friend about 25 years ago, but I didn't pick the hobby back up until about 5 years ago when I decided to try and learn more, so the majority of what I know now comes from TH-cam tutorials like this one, so I want to say thank you for being one of the great "TH-cam teachers" and posting tutorials like this one.
    I really love this super easy pattern.

    I love this pattern! Although I tried the moss stitch before and didn't like it for the yarn I was using at the time, I'm also a tight stitcher and that's probably why I didn't like it. I'm so thankful that you explained about leaving the slip stitches looser because it's really helped me to make it beautiful this time. I'm using Lionbrand Coboo yarn, 51% cotton and 49% rayon. Approved by Kniited Knockers for breast cancer survivors. First time using this yarn and first time watching you ❤️

    Thank you for this easy , doable scarf tutorial, I just finished making one- minus the tassles . Though on every row, mine started with a slip stitch, and ended with half double crochet, every time. It did not start and end the same per row, working with 24 stitch per row. Still great tutorial, clear and easy to follow.

    • @SofiaH
      @SofiaH 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think this is because you have to chain 25 at the start instead of 24. as you work into the second stitch from the hook at the start, you only end up with 24 stitches. I know this is an old comment but I hope I helped :)

Make sure that you do the first and last stitch, if it helps put a marker on the last stitch of the row, and when you turn your work you'll know where is the first stitch to start. Hope it helps. Would this work for a long horizontal crochet scarf? As in, start with 200 chains?

    • @naticrochet
      @naticrochet  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, works great horizontal.

    awesome tutorial, super beginner myself and learned both single & half double in a perfect way watching your video ( super grateful for it) , but the thing is, I still struggle to differentiate between the first and the second chain! I know this is a simple thing and I'm almost there but it's ruining the entire row
    any tips ? thank you so much.

    I'm confused. For the first stitch we're supposed to skip to the second chain.
    My question is do we continue to skip to the second chain as we stitch/crochet or was that a only one time to skip?

    Lovely scarf, stitches really clearly explained.. could you add the type of yarn (DK, 4 ply, Chunky?) and the corresponding hook size for average stitches? Obviously, if your tension is tight or loose you may need to go up or down a size, but a starting point would be useful.

    • @naticrochet
      @naticrochet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With every yarn that you purchase you will see on the label the recommendations for which crochet hook size or knitting needles you should use with that yarn. I leave in Japan, and because of that the there is a difference between U.S.A. and Japan the way they refer to the yarn size, crochet hook numbers and so on. Happy Holidays!
