    Featuring all of the great sounds, models, effects and programming ease of the GT-1000, the GT-1000 Core is designed to be integrated into your pedalboard, desktop workflow or simply as a super-powerful and very portable grab-and-go solution for gigs and studio work. All of the i/o you'll need for MIDI and amp switching is built in as well headphone and full USB audio facilities. You can load your own IR's in and of course it can be dug into via the excellent Tone Studio software which will open it up to preset sharing and saving. I really do not want to return this one... Go get 'em!

    Hi Brett, I'm wondering how the CORE takes analogue overdrive pedals and the difference between that and running the same OD pedals into a valve amp. Foolishly I bought a Line 6 Spider V amp and it turns really great OD pedals into mush; it makes a Tubescreamer sound like a lo-fi fuzz pedal which no amount of EQ twiddling can fix. I'm hoping that if the CORE is friendly to analogue OD pedals then I could run it into a FRFR powered speaker and be done with conventional guitar amps altogether. Chronic ankle and hip probs have made carrying valve amps a thing of the past for me. I've read that the GT-1000 amp modelling is superior to the GT-100, so if the CORE it takes pedals well it might even take my Line 6 HX Effects well too.

They are really nice pedals but i decided to go that route because I couldn't afford the full blown boss gt-1000. My bass pedalboard happens to be all Boss and all digital, so this unit has literally every effect on my board and 1000 times more, and those effects aren't even modelled, they are the same exact digital programs. What's on my board right now costs 50% more than the GT-1000Core, and takes up about 6x as much room (two Boss BCB-3 boxes). The only thing I'd give up would be individual footswtiches, but because most of my pedals don't get switched during songs, only in-between songs, I might not even miss the individual switches.
    For guitar, it doesn't replace as much for me, but it could definitely replace the whole MD-500/DD-500/RV-500 trio with only one box. (Freeing up space for a VE-500 and RC-500, lol).

      Kyle Won No. They have a “1” lineup just like a “1000”, “200” and now a “1000 core” lineup. Basically, a 1000 without the extra controls. They don’t have a compact 13pin system so there’s an opening for that. 13pin isn’t midi by the way - it’s analog. It’s just 6 separate connections per string, plus noise cancelling and a single ground connection.

    I’m curious, Mr. Kingman. With all the features bundled into the GT 1000 Core, is one of them the ability to “profile” outside sounds the way the Line 6 Helix and Kemper Profiler models do? Through 2023, my preferred distortion is one that isn’t likely to be emulated in most (if any) Boss devices, a Goat Generator from the Japanese builder called Rancher. If I were to purchase the Core, I would be willing to use the effect sends to integrate that distortion unit into the sound chain, but I would like it even more if this unit itself were capable of capturing the sound in the mainframe and allowing me to include it in the stomp section.

    • @MarcCoteMusic
      @MarcCoteMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What it comes down to, for me, is will it sound SO much better than the GT-1 that it justifies a price that is 3.5 times higher. And the GT-1 comes with an expression pedal already! So far, everything I've heard from the GT-1000 suggests is might be a bit more realistic a sound than the GT-1. But that does not necessarily mean better. I'll give it a try when they get to Montreal, but I suspect I'll be hanging on to both of my GT-1s... and my Mooer GE200, for that matter.

      yes.It's only the externals and auxilliarys, that they cut down on. And you can use expr pedal of your choice. Don't like the MIDI in/outs on the sides though. Those "mini" midi jacks from the 200 series should be banned by law. If had any guts, you should say "run midi through usb instead", and leave it at that. Today the midi protocol and rate is nothing to write home about in the stream. It would absolutely cause nothing to be sluggish.

They should have no problems using the same USB connectors or cables for MIDI. I've aways wondered that with other units too. Since about 10-12 years ago. MIDI starts to become sooooo 80s by now. A bit long in the tooth, past its due date. It was even by then. You only need TRS cables, like 2 different lines and one "ground". In the 80s they used 5 pin DIN cables which no one used. Only 3 of the 5 pins where used. You can use USB to interact with other devices. All people carries some sort of USB cable these days. It's for interacting with other devices.

    Brett, I believe you are a Musicman endorser. Jay Graydon once mentioned that the bridge pickup on the MM Axis Super Sport is the best sounding pickup around. What are you thoughts here and does the non-super sport Axis have the same electronics?

    • @BrettKingman
      @BrettKingman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am, yes. I like the pickup in this guitar a little more than my blue Super Sport. It could be just a hardware difference - locking vs non-locking bridges - but there's a perceivable difference to me. If I could buy a box of these exact same pickups I would do it in a heartbeat.

    Thank you for the demo and the playing! This thing tempts me, at the same time I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the options. Boss says it includes the algorithms from 500-series pedals. Is it, e.g., possible to use it like a DD-500 delay? This might be a start: Buy it as a nice delay, chorus, reverb and the rest is a bonus option for the future.

    Brett, greetings from Hollywood California! I really enjoy your pedal demonstrations so many to view! Here's my comment. I don't see any final opinion either good or bad about the pedal. Like what you like or maybe the pedal builder could include this or that etc...I know on some you are paid to play them but how can we get an honest assessment of the pedal if you don't tell us your honest thoughts!

    Boss advertise the gt1000 as essentially having all the 500 series pedals, however, in your example of a pedal board you put one of those in. Does the individual unit still sound better or was it just an example?

    • @saucybaka4439

  • @srinip
    @srinip 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think Boss made a huge mistake by not providing a separate headphone out. The Fractal FM3 had the same issue and it got fixed. The problem is, if you're in a recording situation and you've used up the stereo outputs for the monitors, you need a separate mixer for headphones. What was Boss thinking?

    • @henkehakansson2004
      @henkehakansson2004 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The L output doubles as a stereo phone output, if you haven't noticed. I can't believe in which situations, in which you had to use BOTH outputs occupied with cables, and then on top of that really have to use a separate headphone output and connect phones to that one. This one will very much be ok with me. You haven't read the specs properly that's all. I don't know your recording situation at all, and that doesn't makes sense. And in any recording situation I definitely don't want to hear only the CORE inside headphones, since nothing else comes in there.
      Totally the opposite. If one should come into such situation that you are troubleshooting live or in the studio, I think it's a greater benefit to have the headphone output at one of these outputs. If you hook it all up, connects everything, but there is still no sound - then you can connect headphones to that output and check if there's any signal. Then, if you can hear your playing through that one, you have made sure that the output and the unit is ok. If not, there's something wrong with these outputs, and you have only to troubleshoot the unit. If there's signal, all of the GT100CORE is ok, then you can start looking elsewhere for faulty cables and connections or mute buttons on the mixer...
      Which you can't do on a separate headphone output. There, you know that the headphone output is working only, and not the correct output to the board/mixer/amp. It might still be something wrong at the output. And if the headphone output is faulty on the unit, it may still work on the stereo outputs...a win/win soultion this one.
