RBR. Dirt 2.0 teaches you to drive way over the limit and abuse the physics and cut corners in ways that would kill you in real life. There is a reason real rally drivers train with RBR.
EA WRC and RBR rsf version. Both are good. Both have their quirks too. RBR is probably more slippery than real life and cars a bit sluggish to respond. While WRC is modeled more toward the crazy handling of Rally1 cars but this can be tuned down with setup if you want it feeling like lower spec cars. Im an ex Dirtfish student and for me, on gravel, I feel the driving in WRC feels closer to my experience at the school than RBR. Or I can get the cars feeling closer to DF than I could with RBR. the timing, sequence and feel of inputs (steering, brake application etc). RBR feels like driving gravel on street tires, cars a bit sluggish to respond and tires lack the initial bite of rally tires into the gravel. RBR tarmac is where it shines more. Both super fun. Play both. The more variety, the better you'd adjust to real life. If you get stuck on one game, you might develop bad habits associated with that game. Driving a variety of things helps you adjust to different real life situations more easily.
This video is so emotional. Watching his first run in his new sim after stopping at the beginning overloaded with how realistic it felt to him was incredible to watch. This inspires me to really race.
I'm glad you got an upgrade to your rig! Simagic is one of the best Sim racing companies to buy from, as usually their stuff is quite reliable. I have that same shifter and have had no real issues since the day I got it, whereas the HGP H-shifter from Moza that I was using before gave me a ton of mis-shift and calibration issues. I remember when I personally upgraded from a G920 to a Moza R21, and the difference for me was monumental. Felt like going from using a toy to driving a real car. Next, if you haven't already you have got to try VR, maybe borrow a Quest 2/3/3s from a friend or something. Your new PC should easily be able to handle it. Its like a whole other world in sim racing, as when I use VR it makes it feel so much closer to driving in a real car. The added depth perception and being able to look around the interior of your car and at the road in a 3D space really elevates the immersion. Although the lack of good hand tracking support in most sims makes looking at your hands a little awkward.
Good choice on going with Sabelt Chassis. I already have the TrakRacer TR 160, but I've been looking at the Sabelt lately because it is just such a clean design. I'm loving this journey man, keep it up.
hot tip, get a track IR and set it up, the feedback you get from the car being able to rotate without your vision (since your POV is now actually tracking your real life head position) is otherworldly, Plus in a real car, you look through corners.
Isn't track IR less realistic because moves what you're seeing based on where your head is facing rather than where you're looking? And he already is looking through corners because he is using triple screens, he literally said so in the video.
@@mark_plays_games-p9c When you use triple screens the side screens view is "skewed" to show perspective, which isn't realistic, so as the car is sideways and you look out the side window/screen/monitor, what you are looking at is a stretched or skewed view, and when the view is stretched/skewed its impossible to use anything for reference. Track IR isn't perfect, but what it does is moves that "skewed" version of the game world as you look around, and keeps your view "in focus" and therefor accurate and reference-able version of the track, in the center of your view, as you look around.
@@mark_plays_games-p9c Tobii eye tracker is probably the better option anyway, since it doesn’t require wearing any reflectors and can track both head movement and eyes.
Motion is fun and cool, but haptic feed back via transducers (bass shakers) is better. I'd recommend sim racing studio with some haptic shakers to really give you the immersion you are looking for.
Great work with your channel. It's nice to see you pushing yourself to do a big project like this while still being true to your family. Never lose that charm.
I love the pov and editing showcasing your fresh experience with everything it's very intriguing seeing someone progressively learning with Sim stuff and comparing it to learning an actual car. Best sim/rally content creator atm
Now get some motion integrated. You can also get belt tighteners to help simulate the pressures you'll see. I'm also with the other comment about vr, I've got triples when I got serious into endurance racing and wearing the headset for 10 hours was uncomfortable, but honestly I reach for the vr headset 9 our of 10 times
Ryan, congratulations on reaching the next level in pursuing your dream. This is an amazing-looking setup! I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress. Are you planning to use Richards Burns rally as a training ground as well? Keep it up!
I've been waiting for this video since the very first sim racing/rally video dropped and boy am I excited to watch it... this calls for ice cream and popcorn
Congrats! Going from a Logitech to this rig is like going from a base Corolla to a GT3RS. 😊Recommend you get that PC off the floor to not have it just vacuum all the dust off the floor. As for motion, for fun factor, motion is good. Get your friends in it and see their reactions. For training, motion can just confuse the body as it cannot sustain Gs or deal with changing G loads like a decreasing radius turn or double apex situations. It might make you more tired than without. Haptics is awesome though..adding a couple more bass shakers. And for content creation, motion can be a hindrance more than help.
Congrats eh! It's been a year now and I've been looking to make the jump from a G923 (my first wheel) to a G Pro set up. Your reaction is making this dirt 2.0 fan want to break out the credit card. Thx
I truly was! And yes, now that I’ve tried DR2 on the rig (which I wanted to try first as it was what I was playing on the original rig), I’ll be branching out into pretty much allllll the other rally titles.
Honestly, I needed channel like this. My dream is to be a rally driver some day, but there's probably no good way to see how all this works for ameteurs. So, great idea and you totally have my support when it comes to your career!
You practiced properly on the G29 if you could just automatically adjust like this. Im 100% convinced that if you truly practice the correct way on a lower end wheel, youll be so much more "at home" when you get a really high end wheel. I got my g29 a year ago, and then the t300 3 months after. All i ever did was trying to learn proper racing technique. In doing so, the t300 felt like a super high end wheel, when i first upgraded. Then i kept practicing on that, until i came to the point where i felt that i was outperforming my wheel. So two days ago, my Simagic Alpha arrived, and everything just felt RIGHT, despite everyone saying it takes a while to adjust. The added bonus - i went from enjoying the concept of improving, to just straight up enjoying driving a car around a track. I was really missing that.
Hi loved the video, you talked about a motion sim at the end but if you want more immersion for around 300-400 Canadian Dollars there is a device called a butt kicker. Its used a lot in sim racing and its basically a bass shaker so it emulates vibrations like the engine or shifting. There are also cheaper options, butt kicker is like the apple of bass shakers because of its user friendly platform (more plug and play then other options) . I've heard many people say it increased the immersion a lot, you should check it out! Love the content keep it up!
Get a Dayton Audio BST-1, strap it under your seat get a Nobsound Mini Amp and some speaker wire and you're set for less than 100 dollars. I don't know if it's comparable to a buttkicker but it's good. There are a lot of youtube videos on how to do it. I use it for engine vibration, a subtle bump when I shift and road vibration/bumps (also subtle) from the suspension. Try not to overdo it. SimHub is relatively easy to use, but it takes some tweaking to get what you want. If I have it off I feel like I'm floating over the road and it feels like something is missing. So it's definitely great for immersion.
This is such an insane upgrade and it honestly feels like I'm watching a real POV of a Rally, can't imagine that feeling i really want a sim rig like that :D Oh Congratulations on the new addition, I'll follow along and i actually watched your upgrade video for the Logitech Setup
Nice things dont make you faster over one lap.... but they matter. A good seat makes it so much nicer to sit for a long time (good for your back). A good brake will make you more consistent. A good wheel will makes you more smooth. And if you want a really nice seat then do what I did and buy a used car seat and adapt the holes to your rig. I have a Audi A6 driver seat and I can sit for 4-6 hours without any problems (and it cost me 250 dollars from a accident car)
Congrats on the setup man! Just curious, do you have any previous experience with performance cars IRL? Or is your rally car your first firebreather? Glad you're having fun man, enjoy and stay safe!
I don’t know if you already have one of these but I 100% recommended buying it. It’s called a buttkiker, it vibrates the seat so that you can feel the engine and stuff. You should get it
First of all I think that you should try Iracing. Sweet rig by the way I just got my first Aluminum rig. Also you should get buttkickers, maybe just start with one or you could go full blown 4 corners kit. But they add so much immersion ands way cheaper than motion.
Subscribed! I didn't see any mention of bass shakers on the rig. Do you plan to add these in the future? IMO, bass shakers are the single most important thing that really kicks up the realism.
Thanks! It depends. I’d love to work towards a motion system, so I will likely aim for one that handles those types of haptics. If motion winds up being something completely out of reach, then I will 100% be adding shakers.
I think you definitely should get a bass shaker. The dirt rally telemetry isn't the greatest, but I think jump, engine vibration and road vibration makes it feel a lot less like you're floating on the road.
Hey man, loving the series so far but if you want to take the simulator to the next level you have to try VR. It's a complete game changer and you will not get the same training effectiveness from triple screens. If your budget can stretch I'd recommend looking into a bigscreen beyond, otherwise a quest 3 achieves close to the same level of performance at a lower cost.
People are happy with lower spec thrustmaster setups UNTIL they try a highend setup like this and realise the fidelity and feeling every tiny bit of feedback through a 23nm base. You will continue to love the Alpha Ultimate base, I know I love my two.
What do you think is the biggest change? Switching to the new rig with all the new components is obviously a big step overall, but what stands out the most? Is it the triple monitor setup, the wheelbase, the wheel, the pedals, the shifter or perhaps the seating position?
Sub'd :) Dude this is the cleanest build I've seen! Looks amazing and excellent choice going Simagic :) I have had the mini for 2 years, and this week the Alpha Ultimate is coming in the mail :) Great content!
I miss rally so bad. I had a full on rig at the beginning of the year. Due to some emergencies i had to sell everything i had. I recently just built another rig but dont have all the things i need to do rally. Just GT3 and Formula. I love that i have a rig again and i can sim race, but I sill feel like something is missing, and i know that something is rally.
When the sim costs more than his actual rally car 😂. In all seriousness, this is a bit intimidating for a new sim racer. I don’t know if I’d ever be ready to commit to a high end rig. In terms of cost and commitment…
That rig looks stellar. The color of this Sabelt rig is amazing. What is the name of the keyboard you are using, please? You got a very good sponsor - Simagic is killing it lately with their simracing gear. Everything is very good and yet still clever price. be careful with the motion rig - research more about it. Its not as 'good' as you'd think. It can actually be worst if wrong one is used or settings are not good.
It’s just not great if you like to be comfortable for long (hour+) sessions. It’s admittedly an incredibly immersive experience, and I’d love to try Pimax Crystal light or super, but my experience so far with my Quest 3 was good only in short 30 to 40 minute bites, but the eye strain and stomach discomfort always catches up.. Triples or ultra wide is plenty of immersion, especially with a good head and eye tracker, and maybe even going the extra mile to deck out your rig with embellishments that make it feel and look even closer to being in a car, like so many youtube sim racers do.
Remember bud, hard work beats talent and money! While money is a give or take in beating with hard work, you can look at Touge racing, touge is basically tarmac rally with street cars. Best MOTORing put out an episode quite a long time ago where a R34 GT-R (310+hp from factory) raced against an AE86 corolla (120ish hp from factory, and the one they used had I think 190ish or so), and the 86 won! Continue working hard, and it will pay off.
I have a few video's on my channel if you wish to see a 3dof motion rig in action on DR 2.0 and others, the problem with motion is once you've tried it, if you have a rig and it doesn't have motion, it feels lifeless and vague, motion does change the game, coupled with VR and wind simulator's etc you do feel you're in the matrix lol....
This is all very new to me, the last time I even played a racing SIM was Grand Turismo 5... What is the things covering the bezels where each monitor meets up?
I went with Simagic too, I had to get a rig to support my weight so i went with an alpine TRX (held my 500lbs self until I got down to 350lbs) What kinda times are you posting??
If you really want to train my understanding is you should be driving Richard Burns Rally. Not that I’ve driven a real rally car, but it’s the only rally sim that feels like it would train for real life. Also would be funny to have this insane PC and to run the best rally sim all you need is a potato computer.
Welcome to sim racing Ryan. I had quite a similar road than you apparently. Full on MTBer travelling the world in my camper and now additionally totally hooked to sim racing. Im using VR which i cant recomment enough i have haptic feedback in my seat direct drive wheel and as you said its just such an incredible experience. Im driving GT7 no Rallye though. But i managed allready to drive against the best in the world 🔥 its kinda crazy... subscribe if you want to follow along as well ❤️
Sick setup! You gotta try BeamNg. It’s under rated as a rally sim but has imo the best physics on the market (RBR players debate below) Another huge bonus is perfectly realistic and simulated damage physics to teach how punishing real rally can be
Im curious how you set up dirt rally. I have triple screens but it looks so much better. For example my side mirrors are distorted and blurry. Congrats on the new setup 👍
@RyansRoadToRally yeah I use Nvidia surround for my sim rig monitors. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. Your displays look much better. Maybe there is something you are doing I'm not hahaha
There’s unfortunately no official triple monitor support for the Dirt Rally Games to calibrate the angles similar to one’s triple monitor setup, so there will always be distortion. RBR RSF has true support to dial this in and WRC as well via an ini file tweak (not perfect but close enough)
@@Hangry1988 I appreciate your comment mate, thank you. Yeah it sucks there isn't proper triple screen support. I'll check out that ini modification for wrc as I also have that game :)
This is your first video I've ever seen so maybe you are well aware of this. VR is a great way to save on the triple monitor /monster PC rig setup. I am blessed to have both, but would of never got the triple screens had I known how good VR is. Going from a Logitech G29 to a Thrustmaster T300 is like going from a Toyota Prius to a High End Corvette. Going from a Thrustmaster T300 to a Simagic mini is like going from a Corvette to a High End Porsche, there's not nearly that big of difference although noticeable. I wish I would of known these things before dropping thousands on my all out rig, which in hindsight, is not worth the price difference over a T300 with a solid foldable cockpit and pedals to match. Is my sim rig better, yes, but the price difference doesn't reflect the upgrades. For people looking for the best price ratio setup, its the Thrustmaster T300 + wheel of choice, foldable steel cockpit, and simsonn pro racing pedals.
The Best rallye sim you can get for real sensation, without no comparaison to other, is Richard Burns Rally, take the RBR Rally SIM a try, easy to setup and around 400+ stages, and car from all era, including your subaru. Try it out, it is free and the best feeling, you won't go back after it. :P
Yup. I've only got so much time in the day though. Plus, my intention is to move from one sim to another only after I've gotten to grips with the current one. That way, when I try a different title, I can properly evaluate it both against the previous game *and* my actual rally car. For both me, and the viewers, I think that's the right call. I'll be loading up EA WRC next, then it'll be time to dive into RBR. For someone looking to emulate a GC8 Subaru on gravel, which car and location should I be trying first in RBR?
@RyansRoadToRally thanks for the reply dude! I totally hear you, it's hard fitting a TH-cam channel in alongside work and actually playing the damn games, big credit to you for that! I personally raced rotax max Evo karts and then into a bit of open wheel short circuit but never real rally experience with a rally car. I do have over 1000 hours experience on the nurburgring on assetto Corsa (I know that sad), lots of experience on iracing, dirt 2.0, ea wrc and quite recently, RBR. I think if you look past the graphics, the physics model of RBR is great, the lack of abs is very noticeable and really makes you use your skill to drive, it is however rewarding if you know how to get traction down! Many real life rally drivers use RBR as a tool to learn so I think this will be the most beneficial to gain transferable skills. Other ambitious and successful TH-camrs who create racing content, tend to dip in and out of sims which is great for maximising your audience potential! Lastly, I would recommend using the GC8 Subaru in RBR, should be the best match, especially for audio ;) look forward to seeing the results sir!
Whichever sim has the best gravel (and snow) physics is where I’m going. I’ll be trying them all! In any case, in just a few months I’ll be driving 150kmh+ down narrow forest roads in a little tin can of a rally car, so you could definitely say that I’m *quite* “series about rally” 😂
So which sim should I try on the rig next?
RBR. Dirt 2.0 teaches you to drive way over the limit and abuse the physics and cut corners in ways that would kill you in real life. There is a reason real rally drivers train with RBR.
EA WRC and RBR rsf version.
Both are good. Both have their quirks too.

I think you definitely should get a bass shaker. The dirt rally telemetry isn't the greatest, but I think jump, engine vibration and road vibration makes it feel a lot less like you're floating on the road.
Sounds like a good call!
I absolutely want to try VR, especially for the depth perception part of the equation.
People are happy with lower spec thrustmaster setups UNTIL they try a highend setup like this and realise the fidelity and feeling every tiny bit of feedback through a 23nm base. You will continue to love the Alpha Ultimate base, I know I love my two.
Have you considered putting the handbrake on the inside and h pattern on the outside? I have the same Simagic setup but the handbrake is closest to me
Great rig, enjoyed the vid
What do you think is the biggest change? Switching to the new rig with all the new components is obviously a big step overall, but what stands out the most? Is it the triple monitor setup, the wheelbase, the wheel, the pedals, the shifter or perhaps the seating position?
try to get a vr set just to test it out... thaths next level
I want to see more from the series !!1!
Sub'd :) Dude this is the cleanest build I've seen!
Looks amazing and excellent choice going Simagic :) I have had the mini for 2 years, and this week the Alpha Ultimate is coming in the mail :)
Great content!
Nice! You're gonna love that Alpha U. Definitely an arm workout if you want it to be haha.
No richard burns rally?
I just wanted to start with a direct comparison with the game I’ve been playing on the PlayStation. I’ll be trying em all!
I miss rally so bad. I had a full on rig at the beginning of the year. Due to some emergencies i had to sell everything i had. I recently just built another rig but dont have all the things i need to do rally. Just GT3 and Formula. I love that i have a rig again and i can sim race, but I sill feel like something is missing, and i know that something is rally.
insane timing I just got a simagic alpha yesterday
You're speechless with that rig? Then a full motion rig would definitely blow your mind! 🙂
I don’t doubt it!
You have to try VR , triples are nice but VR gives you ultimate level of immersion.
I plan on it!
Can you post a list of all the items in the sim rig?
Wowzer! Absolutely love that set up. What's it cost as is?
I have a few video's on my channel if you wish to see a 3dof motion rig in action on DR 2.0 and others, the problem with motion is once you've tried it, if you have a rig and it doesn't have motion, it feels lifeless and vague, motion does change the game, coupled with VR and wind simulator's etc you do feel you're in the matrix lol....
This is all very new to me, the last time I even played a racing SIM was Grand Turismo 5... What is the things covering the bezels where each monitor meets up?
now you need to add motion!
You should consider buying a VR headset. I got a quest 2 for $150 cdn on marketplace. Makes racing sims a whole other experience
Fingers crossed for some good sales coming up. I’d love to try a VR headset. 👍
that intro was 🔥
So whats the price tag on this bad boy? (USD)?
Be somewhere around the $15-20k mark
@@cpw80 no way
Welcome to sim racing Ryan. But i managed allready to drive against the best in the world 🔥 its kinda crazy... subscribe if you want to follow along as well ❤️
great video!
what in-game wheel settings are you using?
Thanks! Currently going with the base DR2 settings that Simagic supplies.
Sick setup! You gotta try BeamNg. It’s under rated as a rally sim but has imo the best physics on the market (RBR players debate below)
Another huge bonus is perfectly realistic and simulated damage physics to teach how punishing real rally can be
@RyansRoadToRally VR is next. At minimum a Quest 3, If possible a Pimax Crystal Light.
Im curious how you set up dirt rally. I have triple screens but it looks so much better. For example my side mirrors are distorted and blurry. Congrats on the new setup 👍
Mine are a bit distorted as well, but not to bad. Are you using Nvidia Surround?
@@OzzCyrus Glad to help. Search for the video "EA SPORTS WRC Triple Screen Fix!" by Boosted Media ;) Cheers
I already have a gaming PC
Some people say get another lower tier one for iracing. Should I or nah?
hey, this guy should start a mtb channel and call it the Loam Ranger or something
Also anybody reading this, the simsonn pedals don't seem to work well with Fanatec gear.
So nice sir
How much you pay it for all that set ? If dont mind tnx
I am addicted to rallying.
You and me both
LOL - where is the VR - thats next level matrix
The Best rallye sim you can get for real sensation, without no comparaison to other, is Richard Burns Rally, take the RBR Rally SIM a try, easy to setup and around 400+ stages, and car from all era, including your subaru. Try it out, it is free and the best feeling, you won't go back after it. :P
That's what I keep hearing! So in your opinion, which car and location would most closely emulate a GC8 Impreza rally car on gravel?
@@RyansRoadToRally Take any gravel stage, they are all good, some are better, but none are bad. Juste enjoy the sim ;)
@@RyansRoadToRally so what are your thoughts on rbr?😉
Would like to hear some news about it 😊
@@Pilip948haven’t dug into it quite yet. Soon though!
Ooooops I responded from my other TH-cam account haha.
What was the total price of the whole setup? If a consumer bought off the shelf
I have moza r12 and p2000 pedals i am in love
Cannot wait for your new vid❤
Bro, you do know Richard Burns Rally is free, right? I love Dirt but I just noticed in a comment below you said RBR is "on the list"
If youre serious about rally & not just doing a youtube then RBR is the only thing you should be playing.
Now add VR and a bass shaker under your arse!
MTB and sim racing? Not many of us out there you know. Haha.
My bank account hates me
Ha yup. We're doomed!
We are blessed 🙌🤣
you should play richard burns rally
What bezel free kit is that?
New sub I’m here for the journey 👍🏻
hey it feels like the motion blur is on
try turning it off if its not
I love the motion blur, to be honest 🙈 I’ll try it without sometime soon though and see how it looks!
Congratulations
