I can't believe despite dropping thousands (of Linus' money) on that wheel and shifter and everything he's only running a single monitor setup for it though. I imagined with the budget of everything else he'd have a panoramic projector or a VR setup with an Index or something.
@@Grimmers VR is really cool to experience with sim racing, but super annoying to setup and use regularly. There's a lotta user experience kinks for them to work out. While the initial setup can be annoying, a triple monitor setup is definitely the way to go. Or at least one of those fancy giant high refresh rate ultrawides. I get the vibe he's into sim racing, but not like crazy nerdy about it though.... but it's inevitable that he'll delve deeper into this rabbit hole... just have patience and pity for his wallet. 🥲
Jake: Why wouldn't you use the output on the sub? It has the crossover integrated, as it's a powered sub, and then you use the output into the speakers' input for the amp. No need to use splitters! Also, you're sending full range to the tops the way you wired it, so it's going to muddy the frequencies in the high-bass low-mid range.
I was just about to write this, cheers. The only reasoning I can muster would be to ensure that the signal is being amplified independently by each monitor/sub? But I still don't think that's right. Also interested to know if that second sub ever passively moves due to the bigger one firing.
You dont need to high pass the top speakers, just adjust the variable crossover on the sub. If its to muddy you should close more the crossover. This is a close range setup, if you high pass the tops they are gonna blast your head.
im so happy that i started making my own cables. I used to buy extra long too and hated the loops of unused cable lying around. Now i just have a few rolls of cable lying around that i can cut to whatever length i need. Obviously cant do stuff like HDMI - but most of the other stuff is (audio, ethernet, power, etc) i do myself.
@@ditunnod I mean, the way I always see it, if a setup is likely to change, it’s a lot easier to deal with moving and managing the “more cable than you needed at the time” purchase than the “precise right length and no longer” purchase. 🤣
REW and Equalizer APO is a freeware solution to room correction. Great pick on the sealed sub, but you’re inviting issues having those rear-ported speakers so close to the wall. A front-ported speaker would be a much better choice for this setup (though $200 for those Q150’s is excellent!)
Also using EQ APO with my 2.1 desktop setup. The only problem is that in windows you need to do a virtual 5.1 setup and reroute the outputs to correct the sub and front speakers individually. Of course it needs a LOT of experience to interpret the measurements correct the frequency response in the right way, because you have all freedom to make it better or worse. Fully automatic correction nowadays doesn't make the experience worse, but it's still far away from a manually dialed in response.
I'd also add that the Behringer ECM8000 measurement microphone costs about 40 dollars and is more than adequate for doing this type of room measurement and correction.
equalizer APOs equalizer ALONE should be standard on everyones PCs, every person ive sent my profile is in love with it and hears EVERYTYHING on Hunt Showdown and a lot more on regular games too
To be honest, I felt the same way about the litter box. Like, how hard is it to scoop? But then, after experiencing it, it was well worth the money. One of my cats does not know how to cover his turds, and the smell would be awful. With the Litter Robot, that was a non issue. It was also great since it let us be away for long weekends without needing a pet sitter. But yea, definitely too expensive for a motor and weight sensor. The BOM cost is probably laughably low.
Keep in mind; you're also paying for the R&D, testing (do kitties like it or freak out - hole too big or too small - what happens when kittie steps back in to further bury his poop - etc), + the guarantee and peace of mind that your cat doesn't get mangled or freak out when you're not home. Would you feel equally at ease when if you bought a knock-off from AliExpress.. from someone who figured "well.. It's basically a cement mixer, right..? I can make that" (:
Sure, but if there was more competition on the market/more interest in the product (bigger economy of scale), no way it would be $550-$700! Think of the R&D involved in a game console, and those cost $500 or less. Still a great product (I have 2 and don't regret it), but you are kidding yourself if you think the R&D on the litter robot makes up for the premium. Not saying it should be like $50 dirt cheap. $250-$300 makes a lot more sense to me, considering they already gouge on accessories/refills.
@@cheetoritos Ah, but wouldn't you agree that consoles are probably sold at a mild loss, only to make the money back through selling games (as well as licensing, selling peripherals, and online game shops where you can spend your 'nintendo cards', or xbucks (or whatever) I recall a recent video where Linus tries to make a 'Series S' or X or something equivalent PC, and is unable to do it at that price point... (I'm guessing that's not just a happy little fluke. More like the 'razor & blades' model, or the 'printer & cartridge' thing.) So unless the cat mixer people are also producing special kitty litter, there's likely no secondary income for them. They might have patented the design too, btw... EDIT: wait.. Did you say refills...? (They sell custom litter..?)
They sell liner bags and a lot of accessories. You don't have to buy from them, there are 3rd party alternatives, but I imagine a lot of people do get first party. Their latest is an odor absorbing pod that needs to be replaced every 2 weeks and costs like $125 per year. They definitely have recurring revenue streams. Not exactly the same as the console business since they are guaranteed a cut of all game sales (and pirating is a lot more difficult) while the Litter Robot customers have alternative options. Either way, still a great product! I imagine they've done their market research with pricing. I think if they lowered the price by $100-$200 they could probably sell more. But then again, for most people, if they have no problem with their $30 plastic bin, anything over $100 would probably be a hard sell, so maybe lowering the price would get them any more customers
I wish i lived in a country where buying a 700$ poop box is "WELL WORTH IT" meanwhile people over here make 400$ per month and everything is as expensive like in the US or more

@@ipodman371 your argument might hold up a couple years ago, but with the 4090 you can now have both high fps and high resolution. and honestly even with lower resolution, I would take VR over flat gaming any day. the level of immersion is simply amazing.
piece of advice on the Logitech 5.1, system, dont place the control pod on the sub, in theory, it shouldn't be a problem, but as a tech, i can tell ive seen a LOT of weird "glitched" pods, and all of them were put on top of the sub, maybe is the vibration or the magnetic field, not sure what. (seen the issue with z5500 mostly, but seen it in these exact ones also)
Protip for other setup kings: buy isolation pads for your desktop speakers/monitors. They're fairly inexpensive and they do an incredible job at removing your table's resonant frequency from your audio. Don't be like Jake and lay your speaker bare on its side, your desk is amplifying certain frequencies and coloring your audio.

This is a really sick setup, he really chose his speakers well for his space. It’s really cool to see the audio getting some love. I bet his calibrated concentric kefs and sub sound better than anyone else’s setup at LMG.
The magnet on Linus’ screwdriver is so freakin strong he pulled the head of a perfectly normal and definitely well-manufactured screw right off!! 🤯 Truly one of the screwdrivers of all time
As a Sim racing tragic, this is tickling all the right spots for me. There is a massive community that uses iRacing, I would love to see you guys do a video on what the average noob needs to know to get into the Sim in a cost effective way, and what a baller can invest in the ultimate setup.. Sim racing is something that even the non-gamer can relate to, most of us drive a car and believe we are the greatest driver on the planet, and some of the hardware is pretty nuts. I think it would be a popular video.
The KEF Q150 (and Q100 for that matter) are very good speakers for the money and are especially so if you can find them used for a good deal. They do benefit greatly from a sub, but once you give them some bass reinforcement, they're honestly great speakers. KEF does make much nicer speakers, but they're a lot more expensive and weigh more, so they don't wall mount as readily.
Also, as a car enthusiast, sim racer, IT pro, gaming nerd and audio enthusiast, I 100% support this upgrade. I would have upgraded the sim to an aluminum profile rig personally and found out a way to use headphones since I use iRacing and not AC to compete online. And lastly, Jake, why the hell do you always put people on the Nordschleife?! That's like the worst track for new people lol. Put em on Lime Rock my man!
Those Vardar fans are quite excellent from case use and testing against other fans like Akasa vipers, Lian Li's fans, and others. I like the noise profile being pretty quiet to noisy under work load, but not deafening or distracting
Nice to see my logitech 5.1 surround setup finally make it into some kinda LTT video! That things been serving me well for over 14 years and counting. Only issue is the back of the remote broke. I found a pair of Pioneer bookshelf speakers at a thrift store for literally 12 euros and even though they're kinda old and idek the model name, with a simple EQ they sound pretty good and even have more bass you might give them credit for. Used speakers is definitely the way to go
Nice to see in this video how the upgrades are coming along in Linus' new house, it's a little odd that Linus still had Jake purchase smart dimmer switches when the whole house is outfitted with them...
LGR did a video recently on Creative Surround quad speakers, and they came with a really interesting way of setting them up - maybe could be an answer to Jake's racing audio layout.

@@reilandeubank oh yeah for sure
@@Grimmers tbh sometimes less is more. I used to play on 3 monitors but just using an ultrawide is just way more convenient.
I was thinking exactly that. Shows that being a genius in computers doesn't make you a good sound engineer :)
The splitters are unnecessary, but the outputs on the SB-2000 Pro are full band pass-through. They do not high pass the main speakers unfortunately.
Will the sub act as an amp for the speakers?
You dont need to high pass the top speakers, just adjust the variable crossover on the sub. If its to muddy you should close more the crossover. This is a close range setup, if you high pass the tops they are gonna blast your head.

I'd also add that the Behringer ECM8000 measurement microphone costs about 40 dollars and is more than adequate for doing this type of room measurement and correction.
equalizer APOs equalizer ALONE should be standard on everyones PCs, every person ive sent my profile is in love with it and hears EVERYTYHING on Hunt Showdown and a lot more on regular games too
@@Shadow0fd3ath24 Could you upload your profile somewhere? Would appreciate it
I was thinking that, particularly the speaker choice. Not the way I would have gone.
@@cheetoritos Ah, but wouldn't you agree that consoles are probably sold at a mild loss, only to make the money back through selling games (as well as licensing, selling peripherals, and online game shops where you can spend your 'nintendo cards', or xbucks (or whatever)
I recall a recent video where Linus tries to make a 'Series S' or X or something equivalent PC, and is unable to do it at that price point...
(I'm guessing that's not just a happy little fluke. More like the 'razor & blades' model, or the 'printer & cartridge' thing.)
So unless the cat mixer people are also producing special kitty litter, there's likely no secondary income for them.
But then again, for most people, if they have no problem with their $30 plastic bin, anything over $100 would probably be a hard sell, so maybe lowering the price would get them any more customers

piece of advice on the Logitech 5.1, system, dont place the control pod on the sub, in theory, it shouldn't be a problem, but as a tech, i can tell ive seen a LOT of weird "glitched" pods, and all of them were put on top of the sub, maybe is the vibration or the magnetic field, not sure what.

I really like Jake's tastes in equipment. So far the most comparable upgrade to what I would do.
This is an upgrade after my own heart. Massive audio upgrade with some super functional water cooling thrown in. Love it.
I have 2 of those litter robots. I did not pay 700$ for them, but they are super awesome! They definitely help keep the smell down.
