Add 3ozs of Marvel Mystery oil to the tank when you run the methanol. It will protect the valve guides in the motor and the slide valve in the carb plus pickup close to a point or so in compression.
what happened to the riding mower that the 670 was on i started watching when you where building that and you guys are the reason that I'm into go carts and mini bikes
If you guys switch to Fuel injection, the controller will monitor and adjust the fuel delivery to balance the EGT's of both cylinders. Plus to get max Hp...
@@aeroflopper Tell that to the "Turbocharged Intercooled Fuel-injected 670 CC BIG BLOCK" going into the Insight. Edit* I'm positive I messed that up, somebody with a better memory fix that please.
i’ve been a fan since 400k subs, and i’m really impressed with the transition from building ludicrous go karts to building these absolute beasts! you guys are incredible!
DUAL CARBS. Equal fueling, ability to get the engine the fuel it needs since you have been lean all along and drilling jets and choking the air down to compensate
Yeah. Also much smaller carbs, so they can get more fuel and higher airspeed. Methanol requires 3 times as much fuel as petrol. 12:1 for petrol, and 4:1 for methanol. You also need different spark plugs when running methanol.
Dual carbs won’t help when they are both running through a single turbo. They would probably have more problems if they tried to go to a blow thru set up. They would be better off putting an EFI set up on it.
@adamr9215 of course they would, but that's a project for later. And you can dual carb. It's called a blow through. Not ideal to split the turbo output to two possibly leaky carbs but certainly doable. It's closed loop so pressure would be roughly equal. Heck twin turbo, crossover exhaust (turbo feeds opposite cylinder). That would be something interesting lol
@@ogrefreak5222 You aren’t that smart, are you? I mentioned blow through carbs, so don’t go acting like I didn’t. Also, to go twin turbo, they would need to find even smaller turbos to spool decent.
I’ve raced 2.3l. Fords. Dirt track. The fuel would sling real bad. We put in sheet medal. Bent it to make each cylinder get the same amount of fuel. I do like this build. So sexy
Congrats all on an excellent effort all the way around. Also, congrats Charles on a spectacular first run on asphalt, GREAT photo…that’s a keeper! Good to see everyone having fun and able to do so safely. Keep up the great work and content, way to go boys!
I think the car is pretty well set up based on the ET vs MPH. I have been racing my bug in 1/8 mile for decades from as slow as 9s, up to 7.30s (NA) and as I said your ET/MPH is right on. ET is generally an indicator of chassis setup, MPH power. My best is 7.37 at 92, so I think your 6.70 to 100 is close. I think that will be a bit over 100 mph actually. It's fun to widdle away time like this!
I’d say get a stand alone wideband O2 sensor and data logger onto a SD card if nothing else. It will show you pretty good where ya need to adjust the fueling to on a pass. Meth is tricky, very easy to run too lean and blow it up in an instant.
I think a dual-carb or EFI setup would be the way to go from here to allow your rail to breathe better than ever. This has always been a great build over the years and it can still go a long way.
one of my fav projects you guys are working on. that v twin thump, the horsepower, and the speed in a straight line... all from a mower engine! well done, can't wait to see the tuning buttoned up and the 6.70 et :)))
I'm sure not all will agree, I love these videos of crazy drag builds and what not. But I miss the old smaller realistic builds for the grand pre. The average fan can't custom fab, but we can buy a go kart and do all the bolt on mod fun like the older videos. Either way. Always a fan and will watch all the videos
Have ya’ll thought about using a downdraft Webber with a split plenum intake? Might help with fuel delivery to each cylinder. Might be easier to set it up as a blow through instead of a pull through.
You can buy k&n filters with an internal velocity stack in various sizes. When I ran motorcycle dirt track, they made a significant difference in midrange performance.
I can’t wait to see what you do with the drag racer, but honestly I want to see you put a flat track tire on that minibike and a wheelie bar and see what Charles can really do
For the blow by issues causing oil to spew into the intake, you could try venting the dipstick. Drill a hole, thread in a 3/8 hose fitting (or whatever size you want) and run a fuel line up high somewhere. That'll help alleviate a lot of the pressure that is causing oil to be forced out the crankcase breather and into the intake..
If y’all would up the rpm’s at the line it would wheelie better and would definitely 60’ way better. Don’t leave the line with little to no rpm, especially with a turbo. If you can’t hold it still do dual brakes on the rear or raise the stall more.
I might have to go back and watch this build series again. Have you guys altered the timing from stock or is it still at stock timing? Timing is a huge part of building a high performance engine.
When boosting small engines it is really beneficial to have some sort of intake plenum volume so you have equal fuel distribution and intake pressure for both cylinders
Hey guys, love what you have going here. Just some thought on your fuel distribution issues, having a largger intake manifold would help. The bigger the plenum volume (aka) "bucket" the cylinders can draw from would mix fuel better in your application and the cylinders will always have "literally" as much air as they will need. Boost (pressure) is importand AS WELL as the quantity avalible.
You could try increasing the valve spring tension and test it on the dyno. I still think you're having valve float at the top end. Maybe dual springs would work.
If you run into a clutching dead end reach out to heel clicker clutching. When it comes to snowmobile / cvt transmission systems they are infinitely adjustable in multiple points of the shift curve.
Definitely starting to miss that 2nd video per week more these days. I still think C&C should consider doing more live talk show/Q&A/interviews stuff at night as filler, at least monthly if not bi-weekly.
Might try a flat steel divider right after the carb. Similar to the turbo carb hats they use. Helps divert fuel and air equally to both cyls and would be quick and easy to install. also boost is gonna pressurize the crank case. YOu don't want to plumb that back into the intake. Get a good catch can and you don't need to plumb it back to the intake. Good luck!
EFI ON A MOTEC OR HOLLEY OR FUELTECH AND in mid to low 7's for sure! Possibly your 6:70 @ 100+! I WANNA SEE IT! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
I watched a guy balance fuel by mounting a fin under the carb inside the intake. With a few snips and bends and by checking exhaust temps he got it "good enuff til the next race".
I tried the mc carb thing on draw through VWs take it from me the best thing you can do is throw a Weber idf on there in a blow through configuration with a divided intake. I made zero carb mods to mine for boost. Easier to tune and your fuel robbing issues for the second cylinder will be completely cured. You may also be overpowering the needle and seat on that bike carb. When they say gravity feed only they mean it.
Great video as usual, because the engine is mount sideways you guys should make a fan shroud so that it can get cool air from the front then it will help with cooling
Great job guys. I like the idea of changing to blow through carb. The meth will cool the hot turbo air. And you will get better air/fuel distribution. You may wanna put an air fuel data logger or egt data logger. Yall are guessing whats wrong. You need data to make gains. Love the channel Thanks for sharing your talents and adventures!!!
I think it would be cool for you guys to do a build with a regular lawnmower using go powersports upgrades and build a badass fully functioning hot rod lawnmower....not a riding mower a push mower.
Losing that catch can lid tells me that boost was going around the piston rings. I had a 91 turbo Eagle Talon that would pop the dipstick out because it needed a rebuild. That was on stock boost.
Need to put the carb after the turbo. I believe the centrifugal force the turbo puts on the air as it passes through separates the air and fuel mix and causes the fuel to go into one side.
If you do get a 6.7x e.t., I would expect at least ~ 102 to 103 mph. Good luck - and I can't believe how good it sounds, it will sound even sweeter when you get it running right.
We were blown away by it's performance for the first run of the year!
Imagine how much better it would be if yall fuel injected it
I thought you guys had 1.8 million subs? Now I'm seeing 1.1m.

Track will probably stop u at 7.0 in the 8th due to needing a thicker frame an cage around driver.
If you guys switch to Fuel injection, the controller will monitor and adjust the fuel delivery to balance the EGT's of both cylinders. Plus to get max Hp...
Or just switch that junk motor out
They should take it to RobotCantina so he can do the conversion.
@nathenandrew hes a good fabricator but power and speed is not his thing.
I think they were gonna put a haltech ecu on it
