They should have included a close-up focusing filter since it is geared toward a vlogging camera or a firmware option to choose close-focus or Vlogg mode.
Unneccessary user error. You don't get a close-up focusing filter because the proper way of filming yourself on the Ace Pro is to rock that 15ft selfie stick and use the 2x punch-in to 4k to achieve the perfect result. Obvi! 🙄

All the reviews when the camera is send to the reviewers are crap ... Kasey is the only honest guy :D. I guess it was his first and last Insta360 product :D.
He was a bit rude, though. Regardless of the product, the company was a good sport, open to send him the camera, he could've thank the ppl there for the gesture and focus on the product.

The reason I like your videos is because you use the cameras like a normal person would. Not everyone has a studio with perfect lighting and amazing post processing. Most people just want to record, which is what you do, and thats what i appreciates about you

I disagree. But I don't own either and I'm not particularly invested either way. Still researching. Colours look better on the left imo. It's not real 8k. And probably why you can't zoom in 8k. But good digital zoom on 4k I guess. Low light looking good on the AcePro. I need the best under judder.

Haha! Yeah right! He’s extremely biased and deletes replies that don’t go along with his biases. For example, this morning he said there are no filter attachments available, contrary to what I have been saying and to provide a link if there are. Well, I DID provide a link to filters/lens covers, etc being sold on Amazon for the Ace Pro and wouldn’t you know, it mysteriously disappeared! I resent it several times with all of them disappearing. So, he’s most likely reporting them as spam to have them deleted. I have zero respect for anyone who cannot accept a narrative contrary to his. I’m probably wasting my time because he will report this too to silence me. However, perhaps a few will see this before he gets it deleted. There ARE vendors selling lens protectors/filters for the Ace Pro on Amazon.
Why would you have a selfie/vlogging screen on the camera but the focus plane is waaay out there. The background is in great focus and the bokeh is the foreground????
He has theToneh turned on, it is a kinda beauty filter, do not worry, you will get used to it and then will not be able to live without it 🙂

Look, I have a lot of respect for you and for the long list of helpful videos you have pulled in the past. But this video is wrong, you are comparing apples to oranges, you can't shoot the whole thing with a close focus lens on the DJI and then complain about the focus of the insta 360. There is only one portion at 11:10 when you can see both with the filter, there I can see an even focus performance but much higher image noise on the DJI, by a lot. Why aren't you pointing this out? I am sorry, but in this video I just saw biased opinions and not what I am expecting from your channel.
Because Insta CAN'T USE A CLOSE FOCUSING FILTER and that's it's major flaw right now. It's also much worse focus distance than even the DJI with no filter. Slighter lower aperture and further away. I'm not going to cripple the DJI.

I saw several unbiased reviews and comparisons from users, honestly it's not even close to DJI action 4. In daylight is kinda close (ace pro wins), but in lowlight there is no competition@@cameraconspiracies

In the beginning I liked the DJI but I watched the episode on my old TV and old Chromecast, and they were both perfectly fine, the image is so degraded through compression and my old electrics that it doesn't matter. Fun and usability should be the deciding factors
If you look at the night footage I think the insta 360 does better .
After I got the DJI Pocket 3, I can't consider any other pocketable camera 😅 Loved the video mate!

It's a great camera, it matches the iPhone 15Pro main camera in light gathering and depth of field, but has a more useful 20mm f/5.6 full frame equivalent for vlogging (vs 24mm f/6.3 on the iPhone), plus amazing gimbal stabilisation.

@@DigiDriftZone The main lens on the iPhone is more like a 28-30mm when you turn on digital stabilization. You don't need that on the Pocket 3 since it has a gimbal, plus digital stab suck in low light. I'd say the Pocket 3 is a far better solution as a vlogging camera.
nice video. At first though, I was positive I was going with the ace pro as how sharp it was showing at a distance, you could read licens plates fine. Then the close-up came and DJI was sharper. How did you get a closeup filter ? I cant seem to find any on amazon for DJI

without a question you are right, the pocket 3 is so much better than these cameras... BUT sometimes you need an action cam that is rugged so it's good that dji has a quite good action 4. it's great that my trio of the pocket 3, action 4, and mini 4 pro drone from DJI all shoot 10 bit D-Log M for easy color grading.
The pocket 3 is not an action cam. Maybe it is the best option for YOU but not for someone who needs an action cam.

The insta360 looks much better when using the extra lens compared to DJI, you could make a video only comparing those. Also I think those lenses are good for vlogging but it won't work in my mountain bike or surfing days. Also, im stocked to see that there is no extra cropping when you went into high stabilization, is it the same when comparing 4K30 and 4k60? it would be the first camera to achieve that and I would be sold

I laughed harder than I should have at exploding blood achne lol. I I got my first Action cam last week and I went with the DJI Action 4, after seeing this I'm glad I went that route.
I feel like the one thing the Insta360 had that was better was dynamic range. You could see it in the clouds. There was definitely more cloud detail whereas with the DJI there were a lot of blown highlights.
Guess who is never getting an Insta360 product to review again. You just confirmed what I've seen in the other reviews though.

Gots to use a close-up filter (or not) on BOTH cameras for comparison. The sky detail on the Ace pro was amazing. I thought the Ace Pro in the studio, with the close-up filter, looked great (but I have red/green colorblindness). The Ace Pro deos REALLY well in low light - that's a major advantage if a person needs/wants that.

I bought a pocket 3, but action cams are still my most important cameras (trail footage, high risk shots, narration segments, and cab shots). I don’t like the way either of those look.
I usually fast forward review videos to get into parts I'm actually interested in but this time I'm watching the entire thing and smiling while doing so. I don't know but you're funny 😂 Keep it up!
The problem with the Insta360 sensor (what Gopro talked about the 1" sensor and the focusing distance) is that the FD is further away so you always are out of focus and your background is sharp, so it does not look good for logging or any close-up extreme sports recording... fail for now.

I'm on the market to get a new action cam. Though I don't always leave comments, but here I wanna say, keep this natural-real-honest review style my guy! I appreciate you did random test by running then stop all the sudden. And complaining about the zooming feature.
All the other reviewers just did basic by the book kind of review, but yours actually the closest to real life usage that I'd be really concern about with this cameras. In this economy, I'm not that privileged to waste money, so I would love to know if my purchase would last me a long time. Thanks again man!! Appreciate it!!

I've stopped pigeon holing it as an action camera, to me it's clearly a vlogging camera that needs a close focus filter. In that mindset and with a close focus filter on it actually looks pretty good. Low Light is a scary good too when it comes to stabe. I'd like to see angry school Mum next time.

@@derTommy Well, it’s probably got the fastest camera to social media workflow whilst looking great in terms of colours and stabe in all situations, bar the close focus. So in terms of vlogging that’s pretty good, I’ll go into more reasons and findings in my future videos. That’s why the hell.
I have the X3 and I have to say Insta360 is very customer focused and will push out updates to address concerns in the marketplace. I think time will tell with regards to this product as it’s just out the gates.
I have an X3 and a Sony FDRX3000, an older action cam that Kasey seems to really like lately. I prefer the X3 though.
Yeah apart from the simple task that people have been requesting for about 2yrs; allowing you to put music over a video in the insta360 studio on a mac which you can do on the mobile app version on your iPad or iPhone 🤦🏽♂️.

It's strange that Insta360 didn't took a different approach with a removable lens for a action camera.
The aftermarket kit is a great solution for replacement and of course they advice against this :)

Insta360 dynamic range smokes DJI. It also is much sharper, colors look good, better in low light. The one thing they HAVE TO release ASAP is a close focusing filter. But when shooting scenes and not vlogging, Insta360 is the best out there right now. Plus the AI features in the app are pretty dope. I also like that you can remove the selfie stick from the video in the app. For vlogging DJI Pocket 3 is the way to go.

DJI has the ecosystem. Action 5 will work with DJI Mic 2, pocket 3 is awesome already. Hard to beat.

Latest firmware update from a couple of days ago for Action 4 now allows wireless connection direct for the DJI Mic 2.

Other than face exposure, the DJI looks much better. The Insta was very red.

Hi there. I think the Ace Pro is mostly designed for Action ( mounted on bikes etc.) and therefore the priority is the environment (not eye AF or close focus). That's why the screen can be used to look at from above. The Action 4 has a screen that is designed up front for vlogging. So it depends what the camera is used for. Think about it like the smartphones back camera vs the selfie camera. Have a nice day everyone.

Insta360 is by far much superior in every way. Exposure, dynamic range, low light capabilities.. I mean, it's a world apart from the DJI. And the colors? Just tone down the saturation and you are all set. Still don't like it? Then throw it away and keep the DJI that looks like utter garbage IN EVERY SHOT OF YOUR VIDEO.
Sure it looks like an iPhone.. worse actually because at least iPhones and higher and android phones have very sophisticated computing power to overall improve image, quality and aid the native low-quality output of all these minuscule sensors. But the Insta360 looks at least like a "better" iPhone than the DJI.
Insta 360 looks awful and out of focus, I saw the review in a 30 inch screen, the only thing in focus is the background.😂

The DJI had the way more pleasing look, even on this gloomy cloudy day which action cams always suck in. Ace Pro has smartphone skin tones.

Correct. This are ACTION CAMS, meant for infinity focus and action shooting. If one decides to make it a VLOG CAM, you are using the WRONG camera because that's not what it was ever designed for. NOT the fault of the camera.. fault of the user shooting with the wrong tool.

I probably prefer the DJI action 4 because the resulting images are more authentic, even though they lose in low light, but the results are very smooth.
insta360 Ace Pro Image quality prioritizes brighter background focus and it is possible that if you record at night with left and right movements it will look broken. It's different from the DJI Action 4, if you record at night the video results will still be smooth.
The lens glass on the Insta360 Ace Pro cannot be replaced and on the DJI 4 it can be replaced if it gets scratched. 10:29
I returned my ace pro because when I’m out metal detecting and using my chest mount my GoPro 8 is way better for close up shots than the ace pro, when I’m looking at the coin I just dug up. Question, what is better at about 10” away the Action4 or GP12. Looking to upgrade.
GoPro 12 min focus is about 12”. Action 4 about 16”.

Ace Pro looks better. Brighter & more clear image. I hope Insta360 makes a small pop on Diopter to make the Close focus easier... An AcePro+ would be great for 1" sensor.
It's not more clear, you're just looking at a blurred background of the DJI due to the close focusing filter.

I'll be real. At the beginning of this video, I immediately knew the Insta was on the left. It looked like one those meme clips you put in your videos where you artificially sharpen the image to the moon. Thank you for putting out actual real-world comparisons.
DJI might have their issues, but side-by-side quality compared to the Insta is far better than I would have thought.

I just prefer the osmo action 4. It´s an action cam, the fixed lens it´s a big problem and in all the reviews I see, it´s true that at night the ace pro takes advantage on low light, but in daylight use I don´t really think the quality it´s better, in fact I think it´s worse. THe osmo action has removable lens, wider FOV and if you are cared about night, just buy the Pocket 3 (as I already did!) Great video buddy

I have the DJI Osmo Action 1 and have been very pleased with it. But just seen a side by side comparison with the DJI Action 4 and the definition is way better. Now seeing this video overall I think the Action 4 is way better, sharper and better colours. This will be my next buy.
The quality of video from Insta360 AcePro is not at all pleasing; strong digital processing is visible. DJI Action 4 shoots more naturally.

The Ace Pro Is focusing the background like the first batch of Action 3 or when you Sony x3000 starts to give in.
Did you mess up the color grading or was that Insta360 really crushing the blacks as hard as it appeared to?
No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to look good. A lot of this ended up in standard mode ungraded.
OMG, DJI is way wider and crisper than Ace Pro starting from 8:29.... Ace Pro is way blurry.... I would stay with my Action 4. don't want any out-of-focus cameras anymore.

When it comes to capturing distant subjects, the Ace Pro reigns supreme, while the Action 4 excels in capturing close-up details.
See so 4k 120fps..to me is really important when shooting video. I personally think having 4K at 120 FPS is better than a lot of these 6K at 30 frames or like that's just stupid. Because a lot of times you have to move the camera so slow for to actually not stutter on 8K it makes no sense to even shoot in that.
Which close focusing filter do you use? Is theer one for the Ace Pro as well?
You set the cameras to 5,500 k - that is above the level of outside light - you should go auto white balance - or add a 5,500 k light for inside use -

As someone who will use this as a dashcam mounted on my motorcycle helmet, It looks like the Insta's focus being further away would help with reading license plates in the unfortunate event of an "incident". Helps tremendously with my decision thank you!

I've waited for this review and Kasey delivered as expected. Not blinded by the marketing bullshit he actually watched the footage and came to the same conclusion as I did by watching a bunch of other reviews.
The footage looks like garbage, oversharpened yet not in focus, trash colors and a cheap look.
Insta360 wouldn't exist anymore without the useless hype reviews of sponsored TH-camrs or the ones that hype every shit in general just for views
its a good camera for low light. also the x3 is great for outdoor shots. i think there cameras are good.

I hope you reveal what Insta360 says to you after this review. I have heard from other videos if you say anything negative about their camera they try to flag your video.
Have both the Osmo Action 3 & 4 and both of mine suffers from soft footage in background. It is more noticable in the corners and often gets worse in low light. It is the same with stabilisation off as well as thought that was causing it.
Will ace pro better on osmo 4 ?

I had to focus adjust my DJI Action 3. Maybe the Insta will look good and sharp once adjusted....but yeah shame it comes out of the box like that!

Make Art Now Josh Yo made a close focusing adaptation for this freak camera. Face priority auto exposure was better on Ace. The close focus filter on the DJI was its saving grace imo.
The Insta360 AcePro seems it couldnt nail focus a single time. DJI 4 looks sooooo good on the other hand.

Hi, I bought the ACEm but I have a problem to report. If you "reflect" with polarized glasses to make a vlog in the mountains or at the sea, the screen turns completely black (which doesn't happen with a smartphone, Apple Watch, or DJI Pocket 3, to name another camera). I noticed that in all the reviews, even in blinding snow or against-the-light at the beach, no one was using glasses. Have you noticed this too, do you think it can be solved with some kind of film? Let's say that vlogging in the snow while skiing or at the beach without glasses isn't ideal. Paradoxically, the front control screen doesn't have this issue. I've written to Insta360 but they haven't responded yet.
Insta 360 Ace Pro is much better action camera in image quality (even while zoom its readable compared to rivals cameras) and also in low light. Rest is day light quality is good too, just few times it's noticeable little difference in some footages while comparing to other action cameras. Over all best action camera without for quality footages.
I have a question if you're using both of these and they shoot in 4k and much higher why is it that we can only watch your TH-cam video in 360p? Because that kind of defeats the purpose
