It depends on what I’m filming. Sony A7s III is my main camera, Osmo Action 4 is my vlog/pov camera, Insta360 X4 is my bts camera, and Osmo Pocket 3 is my vlog camera.
1) Action 4 for the field of view, Durability, Weather proofing. Get a lot of the background which is better than a closeup of the face 2) Osmo for the DOF looks, low light,

Get both. Action 4 is waterproof/weatherproof and has swappable higher capacity batteries. Pocket 3 has tracking, and has the super large 1' sensor which has proven very capable of pulling off very clean night videos.

I have both and went to Europe for a family vacation. I find myself only using pocket 3 during at night to get better video and image stabilization. Action 4 is so easy to use. Also better in taking vertical videos.

When I get mine I will most definitely get your LUTs. Footage looks amazing! That is one reason I like to listen to you because other reviewers own take on colour grading is not there really. @@TamaraGabrielUK Tamara, imagine this for a DJI product. An Action 5 with built in support for a wireless microphone and a 1” sensor. Then a separate gimbal made for it where you use the vertical magnetic mount on the cage to attach it to the gimbal. Two in one solution. It would be bulkier of course but the gimbal itself could be sized like the hohem or inkee falcon. Hell, the gimbal handle could use the same batteries as the camera and also act as a charging case if yo stick two batteries right in there 😊. I would buy it!
I agree your content is different… it corporates personality, confidence and you can tell you’ve spent time thinking about what the user would want to know and the only things they want to know. Not all the fluff
I was looking at both but as someone that will use it for mainly landscape/sunrise/sunset reels and occasional TH-cam vids (sometimes near water) I think the OA4 is the better around and the footage (apart from night which I wouldn't use alot if anyway) is just as good as P3

Which one? Both of them. For each situation - it's own camera is the best solution. Yes, pricy and that's an important factor, but it's the best solution for being safe and being able to react in different situations and at changing conditions. For now I create mostly walking tours in cities and hikings in nature (no talking) but I intend to diversify their style and start to appear in front of the camera, so I'm waiting for my Pocket 3 tomorrow and intent to buy the Action 4 in several monts. I have both cameras. The camera is use the most is the pocket 3. But the pocket 3 is limited to the dry days outside. The action 4 a great camera more for action recording like stuck on my bike. Both have killed the gopro dead.

Wow watching this in 1080p and the Action 4 looks much better than it did at release. I barely notice any artifacting. That was my only gripe with the Action 4, im gonna have to do a software update on mine and see if it works.

That said, what are your thoughts on using either camera in a TH-cam studio setting in place of a (possibly much) more expensive dslr camera? I know at least with the 3 there’s a webcam setting but how good is it? Specifically with the proper lighting placement and settings, and good sound equipment, can a content creator get by with either of these cameras?
I’d definitely say the Pocket 3 would be the better option over the Action 4. With proper lighting, the quality of the footage will be good. I’d suggest getting a lav mic to use with the wireless transmitter for better quality or boom a shotgun mic and then sync the audio in post.

I've seen others talking about adding close focus and glimmer glass to get an improved and less processed look from it It would be awesome if DJI could create a more vlog centric Action 5 with something like a less wide FOV, and Zeiss tuned lenses, etc. To create a more natural look. As one who can't get over the self consciousness when trying to film with a regular sized action cam and couldn't get to grips with the pocket 1 (too small a screen for my middle aged eyesight and too much of a faff to use the mimo app ( as well as intrusive ) , I went with a Go 3 ,which is ok for filming incongruously in public ... Now gutted to see the pocket 3 and what it can do
I ordered the Pocket 3, should be in this Friday. The smoother tracking and 180 spin along with 1"sensor was my reason to upgrade from my Fimi Palm 2 Pro

Both. 4k walk videos. Action 4 as it's waterproof and swappable high capacity batteries. You don't want wind blowing sand or rain while using Pocket 3. And Pocket 3 for low light shooting when you don't need protection from the elements. No one device can do it all, that's why getting both gives you the flexibility as a TH-camr and content creator. It feels like DJI doesn't need to spend money on marketing, we do it all for them.
Yep, it’s about the best tool for the job, and choosing the camera according to that. They compliment each other well. Throw a mini drone in and you’ve got a dream set up for creative content.
Mine is coming Thursday, but your Luts are already here. Of course you are right with this "non weather proofed"-Thing, but I saw David Manning running the whole day outside in this typical English drizzly weather (although it was an American city) and he was finde with the Pocket 3.
Thank you for this review, it actually helped with my decision and to sell my pocket 3, i bought it when it came out, because of all the other videos from other reviewers and i dont use it, i bought it to bring on holiday with me and use it for videos on scenery etc as, for some bizarre reason i never thought if it as a vlogging camera and ever since ive had it i dont like how close it is, i prefer the likes of the action 4 with its wider field of view and its weather sealed, when the p3 isn't. So im definitely going to sell the p3 as someone else will get better use out of it than me. Im not a vlogger. I bought the p3 on impulse tbh.
Both seemed great! I preferred the OA4 almost always as I usually prefer to see more of the scenery rather than one person on the screen…of course, if wanting more simply talk to camera OP3 seems better suited. Action of any type the OA4. Lower light definitely the OP3. So neither it appears is perfect for everything. If a general overall camera I think the OP3 a better fit for most; for outdoor types the OA4 most often. Nicely done and appreciated the internal mic comparison…both sounded surprisingly good!
Hi, thank you for your work, I have this question: I'm recording a 4k video on dji pocket 3 and after 15-25 minutes the camera overheats, but in full hd the camera works, is it possible that there is a problem with the sd card?
Do I still need to do my own color grading adjustments if I used your Dlog M Lut for Pocket 3? Or does your lut already have the highlights and shadows adjusted?
I'm curious about the DJI Action 5 Pro. If it does better in low light and has some improvements with its functionality and hopefully some cinematic possibilities, it will beat every other camera on the market (in the same category that is). If it will have the dynamic range I'm hoping for, I'm getting the Action 5 Pro. If not, I'll just get me a Pocket 3. Which is still a great option.

Could you do an overview of the motion lapse options/settings. I sold my OP2 after being very disappointed with the aspect ratio/resolution and shutter speed limitations, basically couldn’t do 4K night lapses
I sold my op3 for the oa4. Pocket is too fragile and too much settings to setup. Gimbal is actually not easy. Very limited shooting angles position. U wont have peace in mind having the op3 hanging or attached somewhere. As for the background, since its vlogging, i may need my showcased location behind me to be clear instead of bokeh / blurred. I'll work around for the change, but so far its been easier with oa4. 😊
If you were to film some vlog style vids but also want to do talking head vids with the same camera, would you recommend the Pocket 3 over the Action 4? However, I also record tennis trainings so would the pocket 3 be durable enough for that situation?

Mimo app can be used as a remote control! More flexibility than Mic which just starts and stops filming.

Both cameras look amazing compared to their rivals however remember that the Pocket 3 is also almost twice the cost !!
I like wider background obviously its awesome when i can see more backeground.

I love the bokeh of Pocket 3. However, when seeing side by side during vloging it is definitely too narrow. For other purposes 20mm is perfect.

Thank you for this review, it actually helped with my decision and to sell my pocket 3, i bought it when it came out, because of all the other videos from other reviewers and i dont use it, i bought it to bring on holiday with me and use it for videos on scenery etc as, for some bizarre reason i never thought if it as a vlogging camera and ever since ive had it i dont like how close it is, i prefer the likes of the action 4 with its wider field of view and its weather sealed, when the p3 isn't. So im definitely going to sell the p3 as someone else will get better use out of it than me. Im not a vlogger. I bought the p3 on impulse tbh.

Both seemed great! I preferred the OA4 almost always as I usually prefer to see more of the scenery rather than one person on the screen…of course, if wanting more simply talk to camera OP3 seems better suited. Action of any type the OA4. Lower light definitely the OP3. So neither it appears is perfect for everything. If a general overall camera I think the OP3 a better fit for most; for outdoor types the OA4 most often. Nicely done and appreciated the internal mic comparison…both sounded surprisingly good!
What d y think I should buy? I need One for sports mainly beach volleyball but a need some zoom

Hi, thank you for your work, I have this question: I'm recording a 4k video on dji pocket 3 and after 15-25 minutes the camera overheats, but in full hd the camera works, is it possible that there is a problem with the sd card?

Do I still need to do my own color grading adjustments if I used your Dlog M Lut for Pocket 3? Or does your lut already have the highlights and shadows adjusted?
I'm curious about the DJI Action 5 Pro. If it does better in low light and has some improvements with its functionality and hopefully some cinematic possibilities, it will beat every other camera on the market (in the same category that is). If it will have the dynamic range I'm hoping for, I'm getting the Action 5 Pro. If not, I'll just get me a Pocket 3. Which is still a great option.

No. The aperture is fixed.
Here in the UAE, pocket 3 costs 1900, and action 4 about 1000. Need to really consider well all points.

Could you do an overview of the motion lapse options/settings. I sold my OP2 after being very disappointed with the aspect ratio/resolution and shutter speed limitations, basically couldn’t do 4K night lapses

I sold my op3 for the oa4. Pocket is too fragile and too much settings to setup. Gimbal is actually not easy. Very limited shooting angles position. U wont have peace in mind having the op3 hanging or attached somewhere. As for the background, since its vlogging, i may need my showcased location behind me to be clear instead of bokeh / blurred. I'll work around for the change, but so far its been easier with oa4. 😊
If you were to film some vlog style vids but also want to do talking head vids with the same camera, would you recommend the Pocket 3 over the Action 4?
However, I also record tennis trainings so would the pocket 3 be durable enough for that situation?
