I appreciate the fair, thorough, concise comparison between the two better action cameras! Both cameras have their pros and cons and use cases. But right now, I suppose in the U.S. only that I know of, the Action 4 now is running at $299, and just noticed that the Ace Pro now has a small sale at $427. That's now almost $130 difference, than the previous $50 difference. Price wise, Action 4 wins. But will depend on what people like. Thanks for your great review!
One thing missed is that the mic that comes with the DJI Pocket 3 Combo Package works directly with the Action 4 without having to purchase a separate mic or having to add a receiver to the camera. This is a huge point in favor of the Action 4.
Hi! yeah that's true, but that same mic was working on the Ace Pro as well, although now it's not (not sure what company did what but I hope it gets reverted). Anyone, the Mic2 was only found on the Pocket 3 combo and for those who don't have it they didn't had that option. The Mic 2 can now be purchased without the Pocket 3 but the video was almost done by the time of its release.
@@OttoJulian_ - Great information. I do have the Insta360X3 camera and love it. But, I also have the Action 3, Action 4, and Pocket, Pocket 2, and Pocket 3. Add in the Nikon Z8 to the pile, and I really have no room for any more cameras! lol
I know that overheating tests are usually not that reliable, because, as you say, there’s no air flow, so no action as it’s supposed to be, BUT I’m kind of into these comparisons… That never happen to me before with action 4, it never overheated when I take it out, but would you do more test like this? Would be cool to get more accurate results
Agreed! I’ve been doing these same tests for a while as they help me and it helps my viewers to have a point of reference. I’ve seen that normally there is some a close relation between these tests and outdoors overheating, so it’s a good reference point. I’ll be doing more of these tests as they become necessary for sure! Take care !
That was by far and away the best review I’ve seen as it’s the only review that did systematic focus and sound tests so the viewer could make a judgement on the technical performance. It’s a shame it doesn’t have 10 bit colour, but the HDR seems so good that most of the time I’m sure it’ll be great.
Hello Marcus, glad you found it useful, and this helps me to determine if this kind of information is being useful for my audience or not, so thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I love your comparisons, man! Kinda got a feeling you’re under Ace Pro charms haha It’s been about 2 month that I have Action 4, and I could add a couple of points to the features you mention: Action 4 has low light enhancement mode vs Ace Pro pure video Action 4 easily connects to wireless mic via bluetooth Also lens cover are interchangeable and FOV is a little bit wider I think And thanks for the zoom and focus distance tests, that was new to me!
haha no charms at all, but I will confess that I like when a camera can perform well in low light, specially if the motion blur is minimized. Now those tests in low light for the Action 4, most of them were using low light enhancement. It didn't do much. The lens cover is a good point and the fact that DJI has the Mic2 now available is also a game changer.
Sure. I did mention it towards the end. Insta360 also offers free replacement no questions asked. The problem is sending it to one of their authorized centers (timewise)
@@OttoJulian_ Yep their lack of service center's is a big turn off for me. Insta360 needs to up their service department if they want to be competitive.
@@sirgigolo I disagree with your comment. Low light performance doesn't just mean "night" time. It can be overcast, or something that is being shot indoors (yes, sports/action). I also don't agree that action cameras should only be used for "action" videos, it's an elitist ideal. People do buy this kind of cameras for other than that, and they have the right to look for a camera that can perform better in low light. Anyway, if "action cameras are not meant to be used at night", then why are insta360 and DJI putting emphasis on the low light performance?
Fantastic review, but note digital stabe cannot work in under 1/200s effectively (or 1/100s if you are careful). The Ace Pro isn't doing any magic here, it's setting the shutter speed higher than Action4 and then doing more noise reduction (so the detail in the output video is lower). You can replicate the result on the Action4 by manually cranking up the shutter speed and doing noise reduction in Final Cut, if you need to run at night, try 1/250s shutter and it will be perfectly smooth on the Action 4.
thanks! excellent explanation, I have said that in the past in previous videos with other action cameras and I also tested the Action 4 using a higher shutter speed in low light conditions (I think I shared the results when I did the Action 4 vs Pocket 3 video) but I wasn't too happy with the result of the video. The good thing about the Ace Pro is that it's done automatically, and for casual users that don't know or are too afraid of using manual settings that's a big plus. My real hope is that DJI and even insta360 implements more of these in their cameras (oh yeah, and GoPro too)
@@OttoJulian_ Ah, I will look for that video, thank you. I’ve had my Action 4 for just a few hours, I'm yet to test it in low light :) I agree the ease of use and user experience are definitely important, means more videos, less editing, less resistance to create, etc. With that said, if you are willing to shoot in LOG, manually crank up the shutter, and use quality denoising in post production, it should be possible to get similar results on the Action 4 vs Ace Pro at a smaller size, better durability and lower price. If anything, possibly even slightly better on the Action 4 as the sensor has less/larger pixels? - I’m seeing conflicting results in reviews though.
The price difference is a major factor that I didn’t mention because the price dropped when the video was about to be released haha. I thought it was a time gated promo but it is still at that price. Regarding the video quality, I have mixed feelings. There is something I don’t like about the Pure Video but I haven’t been able to pinpoint what it is. I like it, but maybe it’s final look, I’m not super happy but there is not much that we can ask for with those smaller sensors. BTW I Hope you enjoy your Action 4 😀
You are in Costa Rica, niceee, Pura Vida I just bought the Ace Pro, I use it mainly for vloging, and even though it has nice features like the Free Frame Mode, Pure Video; I find some things quite unpractical, for example, having the flip screen is cool, but I find it quite annoying if I´m vlogging and want to show something or my POV, I´ll have to take the screen back, and if I want to return the recording to myself I have to flip the screen agaaain. The audio is another problem for me, it has an USB-C port, so, let´s use it to connect an external mic, right? Well, nope, you have to buy a plug for 3.5mm making all the setup way bigger. That´s something DJI does pretty good with the Action 4, you just connect the receiver in the USB-C and start vlogging. Other thing, we all know that this companies earn a lot of money with accesories, but most of Insta 360 are really expensive, not only the camera is already expensive (more if you buy it with a combo), but in accesories, depending what are your needs, you can easily spend another $100/$150; it remind me the early stages of GoPro where for every little thing you woul like to do, you had to buy a different accesorie.
Yeah I have to agree with you all around... flipping the screen around can become stressful if used in that situation that you mentioned, and even though I like that there are many accessories that you can get, buying a few of them can get expensive. There are third party accessories that are cheaper and will work fine, but I think the mic adapter is a must if someone wants to vlog with this camera.
Could you please advise me which action camera is best for recording Airsoft games in the open areas? I am going to poot it on my halmet for recording my airsoft games.
Hi, I have a question I'll be going to Dominican republic in a few months and I need your help to deciding what camera I should buy DJI ACTION 4 OR Insta 360 Ace Pro I would be doing a lot of action like offloading and going to the beach etc, so please help me decide !!! #something that doesnt overheat!
Action 4 in low light is not too good (gym light is considered low light in most cases). I think you should look into the Action 5 Pro, there is a review on my channel
For vlogging without spending extra money. DJI is the best for me because it can detect 3rd party external mic without mic adapter unlike insta360 ace pro you need to buy.
This guy info is really great! I like his slow and steady way of putting words. Some others will kept rushing with info but he is really good. I dun feel rush and catch every single words he explained without playing back. Thank you very much and God bless you 🙏 Btw, i just gotten my go 3s, i tried up this morning about 5 am plus in singapore weather. Wasn't a bright day so i find low ligth can be improved. But i love the cam cuz the acton pod is so convenient! I am hoping to get another cam. I should b getting a ace pro! Thank to this video info. Low ligth situation is actually very important i realise this.
Trying to decide. I can get the Ace Pro or the Action 4 Adventure kit for the same price right now £379 UK. I want to use it to record my motorbike touring in Japan next month. The three batteries with the Action 4 kit makes more sense to me. I will be riding through Tokyo and other cities at night and will do off bike recording too at night. There's always the option of the Action 3 adventure kit for £299. I'm not a vlogger or or TH-camr anything, so the quality isn't as paramount to me, though I'll probably upload some stuff to TH-cam and Instagram. My budget is limited, and I'll need to get a motorbike mount as well. I don't know if I'll be able to record as much with just the one battery on the Ace Pro and have the opportunity to recharge it on the road, and buying extra batteries as well as the bar mount will probably exceed my budget. Lots to think about, not a lot of time. Any advice?
@@OttoJulian_ hi. I got the Action 3 standard kit and an Adventure kit as well, so bought two cameras. Got them in Japan as it was a lot cheaper than the UK price.
@@darkmousy8549 I really rate them, at least from my limited experience with them. I haven’t fully reviewed all the footage I recorded with them yet, but I have day and night footage while riding my motorbike. From the bits I’ve scanned through so far, I think the quality is great, though it depends what is great to you and to someone else. I’ll upload some footage when I get around to editing it.
Hey otto. Very nice and p erfect comparison. Im into making driving videos for fun Do you think Ace pro can be good choice when it comes down to battery life when recording its best resolution.? Also does it record good timelapse like gopro .
Great comparison! I’ve made up my mind and will be going with DJI Osmo Action 4. Also, What accessory was from 12:58 ? I’ve been looking around and couldnt find the same one. Can you help?
@@oppenheimer11 That you go from having 16 million color profiles in the picture, to one billion distinct colors. This does provide a pretty bland image once reviewing, but the color data is in the file and requires you to do some post process work in order to get to the full color range in your captures.
The Ace Pro has better low light stabilization because of the the AI denoiser. Other cameras have to use a lower shutter speed to achieve the same exposure without excessive digital noise where the Ace Pro can use a higher ISO instead and remove a good deal of the noise before compressing the video. This results in decreased motion blur which is beneficial to image stabilization. I mostly see the benefit doing action sports on overcast days or in a dark forest environment. The technology is not there yet for night video but this is a solid step in that direction. The majority of AI features I consider useless gimmicks but I don't mind having options. Besides there are a few genuinely useful ones as well. So far they've even had a few meaningful software updates that I like. It may be a little overhyped but it is a great product overall.
I was sold on the Ace Pro until you spoke about the focal length. That’s stopped me from purchasing it. They clearly made this camera for vlogging yet they messed up the focal length which is so frustrating
I feel that both are great options, the Ace Pro will be better if you are planning to make those videos past sunset or at night. The A4 has 10bit color which can be beneficial and it has a good price going on right now (not sure when it will expire) it’s also lighter and a bit smaller
Great analysis Otto. I had the same opinion than yours at the end. I think both of us are DJI fans, but I agree that Insta 360 is the winner of this comparison by now. Thank you for sharing with us your free and uncompromised opinion
Hello Vincent! yeah, we are both DJI fans and I loved what they did to improve the Action 3 to the Action4, but I was blown away by the quality in low light by the Ace Pro.
mmmmm....personally I'd still go with the Pocket 3, just because setting up the Action 4 on a gimbal takes some time and the setup is quite big and not so travel-friendly.
Awesome video! I was about to buy the DJI Osmo Action 4 and then I discovered the Ace Pro. I really do appreciate your honest neutral stance on both cameras!
A good comparation between the two camaraes . I have OA3 and are considering the Insta for the low light. But can it turn off the display durring filming video like OA3?
Bro pls help me i want to buy an action camera for vlogging only and my budget is 30k so i have two choice insta 360 ace non pro version and dji action 3 which is good for vlogging i need your personal opinion because you have tested both camera pls reply soon pls suggest me
The HDR update is out. You can turn it off. And others said it was on 30fps and upwards, not 24fps but I don't have mine yet to check. I like how you can get motion blur for a cinematic feel in post processing with the app. Great video BTW. I like the look of the GPS remote.
As I said, both are really good. If low light shots are not too important for you (for example if you feel that you will always have lots of natural light ) then the Action 4 will do fine. In low light it’s not the worst thing you will see but the Ace Pro is better Then look at the rest of the features and see what you like the most
@@ShivendraSingh-ud7jithe Ace Pro is better in low light. It also is sharper because it can actually do 8k, however the Action 4 is cheaper and a little smaller. Currently, the Action 4 is on sale for $299. A DJI-refurbished Action 4 is currently only $239! I prefer the Ace Pro, but the $239 price for a refurbished unit is VERY tempting. Either way, they are both better than a GoPro 12.
yeah but that's a limited time offer, I think it expires at the end of January, anyone looking to take advantage of this mega deal should hurry up. Also the 10bit color in normal color profile was added recently as you mentioned, unfortunately by that time I already had the script and test shots done.
Great video! Very fair comparison and I love the low light settings of the Ace 360 but the DJI Osmo lowered their price so it's hard to say which one I will end up choosing. Such a tough choice but both work well.
Otto, thank you for this video, as I have been watching and observing how different content makers use the big 3 (insta360 Ace pro vs gopro 12 max vs dji action 4) for creating content. I have to say this comparison has only added more affirmation for me to go out and purchase the Insta360 Ace Pro.... I've watched over 2 dozen videos at length, and nearly 3/4 of the reviews have shown the Insta to be the best choice.
Something odd is happening. I saw someone do exactly the same video test. Eg low light and stabilisation test and the action 4 performed better than the ace pro. I’m so confused which camera to get
if you watch older videos with the Action 4 that I have posted, you will see different examples of the low light performance. The motion blur thing will be present. There are ways to minimize the effect but that will require the user to use manual settings and there is a tradeoff in image quality since the sensor will get less light. Granted, these tests are done in auto mode just for the sake of informing regular users, who are prone to use auto instead of manual
@@OttoJulian_ nothing wrong with the video. In fact it was great and I imagine I won’t be using it hugely in low light. But it’s almost as if the other video I watched had the feeds switched over. Thanks for the response
I watched a few videos comparing the two as i am trying to decide which one to buy, in a couple of videos the acepro was giving a more orange/yellow colour to the face of persons in daylight, action 4 was spot on with the colours, although all videos say acepro is much better in low light. Did you notice too this orange/yellowish skin tone?
@@OttoJulian_ i feel it's just high saturation in insta ace Did you tried setting saturation and white balance to get same quality as DJI of go pro in bright light?
action 4 normal 380 USD and adventure pack cost 500 USD in my country Mexico...GoPro 11 cost 340 USD and Ace One RS 325 USD and Ace Pro 560 USD I find that all quite expensive...but thats the problem of my country not the companies...i do mtb so image stabilization is priority
For motorbike and motocross I would go with the Action 4. It's smaller and lighter (noticeable when mounted on helmet) and the sound doesn't get destroyed by wind noise as much with the Action 4 than with the Ace Pro. I bought the Ace Pro and I now wished I opted for the Action 4...
This the best unbiased comparison I came across.. 👍 I own S24Ultra and may even get Iphone 15Pro, the front camera of S24Ultra struggles in Low Light video. Will Ace-Pro or Action 4 be better at V-loging in comparison to S24Ultra(Front Cam) & Iphone 15 Pro(Front Cam) ??
I was looking into the Action 4 thinking it was the best for my needs, and you’ve just sold me on the Ace Pro. It knocks the Action 4 out of the water. The main thing I notice is how dark and unclean the DJI it looks in comparison
Thanks for your feedback. Honestly I was ready to be frustrated with the Ace Pro and sell it after the review.... until I started to test it out. There are some shortcomings that they still have to work out, and still more expensive than the A4, but it's a good camera all around. They also released a firmware update a few weeks after this review to fix or improve a few things
Great video. I never had an Action Camera so consider me a ‘newbie’. I have been considering the DJI Action 4, but this video is making me rethink that decision. That said, I am confused about the Insta36 Pro. I thought that that brand of camera gave the option of recording 360 degrees around the camera, but there was no mention of that here. Does this Insta360 Pro allow for that capability?
Hi! thanks for your feedback. Yeah this brand has cameras that can record 360 degrees, but this one is just like other Action cameras with only one lens so it will not record in 360
Insta360 is the name of the company. They have 360 cameras like the Insta360 x3 (great camera) and non-360 cameras like the Ace Pro, insta360 Go 3. It’s a little confusing. 😎
@@RocaTT1456the low light enhancement mode of the Action 4 is still inferior to the Ace Pro, however, is it inferior enough to justify spending a LOT more for the Ace Pro? I don’t know…
As always a very good comparison! Just to ask or if anyone knows here in the reactions. Can you also press the pause button on the insta360 when you are under water? Cause I am planning to go on vacation in Australia and want to go snorkeling (and of course other activities) and still looking for the best action camera for my needs 😅
My 2016 Sony FDR X3000 simply destroys both Action 4 and Ace Pro in low light! Every year I check if a video camera capable of surpassing the Sony FDR X3000 has not appeared! So far, although the newer cameras have higher resolution and better stabilization, I still can't convince myself that it's worth giving up on my X3000.
I've seen videos taken with that Sony camera, but the small sensor will always be the limiting factor there. I doubt it can destroy new gen cameras but if it's working for you then it's all good, isn't it
Uh…, if the new cameras have better stabilization and higher resolution, how is it possible that the Sony FDR X3000 “simply destroys both…” cameras? That makes zero sense.
@@basickarlthanks! no, the Action 4 will not perform as well in low light. Even though the sensor size is the same, the Ace Pro deals with low light better using their Pure Video Mode. It's a tricky tradeoff!! Have you considered the Pocket 3?
Thank you for this review, the low light of ace pro is a big plus, because i do some of my action activities at night. . . . . . .and no im not a stalker.😅
@@OttoJulian_ Dji can do it, they have done it on the pocket 3, it’s more easy for them to cram in the electronics and sensor on a non gimbal and more sturdy case..last action cam i bought was the Hero8😂, bought the X3/X4..pocket 2/ pocket 3.. never upgraded my action cam.
Hi Otto it me again🤩🙏🇰🇭. I just got Ace Pro Today, and plane to change for my Hero 12☺️. My low English, Ace Pro, Action 4 , Hero 12. Which One Thet Best choose?
I got insta360 x3, DJI OA1 and Gopro 5 session. Doing travel vlog, motovlog and MTB vlog respectively. But my OA1 just died 2 wks ago. My best camera so far just died. Mostly used for motovlog. If I need a replacement, is OA4 worth it? Or X3 already better and just use it?
There is a big difference from Action 1 to Action 4, I think it's worth it. I think you should get an extra camera to work side by side with the X3, it's your choice but I don't see myself relying only on the X3 for multiple reasons.
Hello Otto, thank you for the very good video. I was planning on buying the DJI Action 4. But according to your review it will be the insta 360. The quality in low light is great. Greetings from Germany
I wanna buy the ace pro because of this video. However i do not understand the irreplaceable lens? What difference does it make and how big of a factor?
With other action cameras you buy the lens and change it yourself. If something happens during the first year to it, insta360 will replace it for free, but you have to ship it to them. After that year they will charge you. I’ve never experienced a problem with a lens but anything can happen to anyone.
It IS removable. Do a TH-cam search. For some lame reason, Insta360 tried to be smart and applied two small dots of epoxy or silicone to make it more difficult to remove. Once you twist it off the first time, it’s much easier to do so in the future. The adhesive doesn’t add to its waterproofing. It has a bayonet mount and a rubber O-ring.
@@bruceskousen5451I know it's replaceable, that's why I said in the video what I said about it, and yes, it has some kind of special glue. The problem with removing it by yourself is not being able to buy the lens cover from them, so until someone makes them it doesn't make sense to open it. The second problem which I can't confirm is what will happen to the warranty status. I'm not sure if doing so will void the warranty. Let's hope that Insta360 listen to all the people complaining about this topic.
The new generation of actions pro this is insane. both of these two actions camera is so much good quality and plus the features. yeah these are insanely good now. If you are not in a rush you can just wait for their new release. Action 4 has a great price right now and the Ace Pro also dropped down to around $400. Both are good, just think of what matters more to you, for example low light, or 10-bit color
360 does so much processing.what I hate about their cameras is the blotchiness or floating noise reduction patches that happens in the footage. DJI colors are far superior.
I like both of them and it's hard to pick one or the other. You can't beat the price of the Action 4, D LOG M and 10bit color, but the Ace Pro will perform better in low light at a higher price without those features that I just mentioned.
@@OttoJulian_ Kidding aside, I'm inclined to get the Insta360 X3 for the versatility of capturing (and choosing) everything from a scene. My main use will be on motorcycles going places. In any case, I think you did a superb job on this clip and I'll keep an eye on your channel.
Ace pro lost me at no 10bit. That’s a shame. I don’t have the action 4 as I’m still rocking the action 3 although as soon as the action 5 drops I’m in!
Wow! That was excellent. I'm so glad I watched this, I learnt so much. I've always held back from electronic stabilisation because of poor low light performance, but this changes everything. That plus lossless zoom is just perfection.
@@OttoJulian_ Are there anyone using a phone or laptop watching your video with a 24fps refresh rate screen? Everyone's screen is at least 30, 60, or 120hz on iphone rights?
@@OttoJulian_ The most common screen refresh, including probably yours, is 30 or 60. Please check your screen refresh rate. If the client screen is 30 and your video is 24, then there is 6 frames every second that's being doubled by the client side screen, they get jitters. The 24fps thing is 1990's and 2000's reasoning because people viewed them on projectors or CRT displays. 99% of people now view videos on LDC or other Flat Panel, including probably your machine, I'm sure of it. There are jitters on your video because of the fps mis-match. I'm not criticizing. Just wanted to point that out because the video from the Action Cam you are reviewing is actually a lot smoother than what your video is showing at 24fps. It's a little bit of a disservice to the Action Cam.
@@HarvLiz I know what you are saying, and it's fine, I don't feel I'm being attacked... but the majority of cinematic videos and even regular videos are being made in a timeline of 24fps, don't take my word, ask big ones that know about it. Shooting at 60 and making my timeline a 60fps video will impact in how it looks like, no motion blur, soap opera looking like and very unnatural to the human eye. Hollywood still shoots 24fps and edit in a 24 timeline, same as netflix. There are lots of reasons to use a 24 or at the most, a 30fps timeline, but shooting content without intention at higher frame rates doesn't make sense. BTW, the videos that you saw some of them are shot at 60fps, but they have to be brought into editing to be interpreted at 24, and then they can be used for slow motion or sped up to the normal speed. if you just make a few shots then it's fine, but when you have different elements in a video, you have to bring everything down to your timeline. Watch Peter McKinnons videos, how do they look? He shoots at 60 and 120fps, but guess what his timeline is at? 24.

Kinda got a feeling you’re under Ace Pro charms haha
It’s been about 2 month that I have Action 4, and I could add a couple of points to the features you mention:
Action 4 has low light enhancement mode vs Ace Pro pure video
Action 4 easily connects to wireless mic via bluetooth
Also lens cover are interchangeable and FOV is a little bit wider I think
And thanks for the zoom and focus distance tests, that was new to me!
haha no charms at all, but I will confess that I like when a camera can perform well in low light, specially if the motion blur is minimized.
Now those tests in low light for the Action 4, most of them were using low light enhancement. It didn't do much. The lens cover is a good point and the fact that DJI has the Mic2 now available is also a game changer.
Lens cover of ACE PRO is not interchangeable, which is not useable as a Action Camera. everyone will break it once at least.
Sure. I did mention it towards the end. Insta360 also offers free replacement no questions asked. The problem is sending it to one of their authorized centers (timewise)
I believe that the Insta360 Ace pro connects via Bluetooth as well. At least it does with helmet com systems from Cardo and Sena.
@@OttoJulian_ Yep their lack of service center's is a big turn off for me. Insta360 needs to up their service department if they want to be competitive.
The Ace Pro is good but the Action 4 is indeed the best action camera to date. Poor GoPro got surpassed by everyone a long time ago.
GoPro? What’s that? 😄😄
@@OttoJulian_Compare gopro and dji HDR....dji doesnt do the job at night
@@portugalsud2924 As they said in an old action movie "Is that all you go?"
Action cameras are not meant to be used at night. I wouldn't use one, especially not an 8 bit camera
I’ve had my Action 4 for just a few hours, I'm yet to test it in low light :)
I agree the ease of use and user experience are definitely important, means more videos, less editing, less resistance to create, etc.
@DigiDriftZone PureVideo actually does pixel binning to enhance low light performance. Not sure if the Action4 does this but I suppose it does not
@@marcoa6777 the both use an identical sensor
You are in Costa Rica, niceee, Pura Vida
I just bought the Ace Pro, I use it mainly for vloging, and even though it has nice features like the Free Frame Mode, Pure Video; I find some things quite unpractical, for example, having the flip screen is cool, but I find it quite annoying if I´m vlogging and want to show something or my POV, I´ll have to take the screen back, and if I want to return the recording to myself I have to flip the screen agaaain.
I am going to poot it on my halmet for recording my airsoft games.

both are good options, hope you had great results with either choice
Which one will you recommend for gym content?
Action 4 in low light is not too good (gym light is considered low light in most cases). I think you should look into the Action 5 Pro, there is a review on my channel
For vlogging without spending extra money. DJI is the best for me because it can detect 3rd party external mic without mic adapter unlike insta360 ace pro you need to buy.
More options, yeap
Thank you for this! I’m also going to start vlogging in the next months and looking for the best camera for this purpose.
Question. Do HDR videos still show the better dynamic range when watched on a non-HDR display or is it only for HDR displays?
I stopped using their HDR modes because it's a hit or miss
how about the normal insta 360 ace non pro? Does it have that AI Generation special effects feature too?
Pretty sure it does because that’s done inside the app
Very well-done comparison. I've had my Ace Pro for almost a month now and I am just amazed every time I use it.

Any advice?
Sorry about the late reply. Did you end up buying either one of them?

I Ended up getting the action 4 because of the 10-bit color. That was the make it or break it for me.
yeah, it is a good reason!
Well said. Thank you for your detailed explanation! Agreed all around, it’s a very good step in the right direction indeed !!
For indoor dark shooting video without stabilisation.... which one is better
At the moment, for the price of stand alone Ace pro, you can get the Adventure combo of the Action 4 ,and still 50 euro's cheaper!
Yeah there is a promo going on by DJI, crazy timing
I was sold on the Ace Pro until you spoke about the focal length. That’s stopped me from purchasing it. They clearly made this camera for vlogging yet they messed up the focal length which is so frustrating
the focus distance? yeah, although word is that latest units don't have this problem but I haven't been able to test it myself
Otto between these two, which one is better for driving videos? Thank you
I feel that both are great options, the Ace Pro will be better if you are planning to make those videos past sunset or at night. The A4 has 10bit color which can be beneficial and it has a good price going on right now (not sure when it will expire) it’s also lighter and a bit smaller

Which one would you recommend for diving?
Any of these should be good
Something odd is happening.

Insta 360 ace pro 8K Good 😊👑👌🔥
Not bad, not bad
Thoughts on the photography capabilities of the Ace pro for the common traveler?
I am not a fan of taking pics with Action cameras. Most of the time our smartphones will take better pictures.
The new generation of actions pro this is insane. both of these two actions camera is so much good quality and plus the features. Also the gopro era is done, surpassed by a long time ago. i want to buy this , but I don't know what i buy action camera. Can anyone suggestions? If im go to dji action 4 or insta360 ace pro ?? Or i can wait for the new dji action 5 or insta360 ace pro 2.0 this year ? To check the upgrade each action camera. Lol. I'm a vlogger in the Philippines base and work here ksa . " Beif context " i'm vlogging for what i do every day to document my journey as a overseas Filipino work . So can anyone suggestions for what i buying for these action camera? Thank you for suggestions and sorry for the grammar ehehehe. 😅
yeah these are insanely good now. If you are not in a rush you can just wait for their new release. Action 4 has a great price right now and the Ace Pro also dropped down to around $400. Both are good, just think of what matters more to you, for example low light, or 10-bit color
A big problem with the Ace Pro and the reason it doesn't over heat as fast is because it's only an 8bit video, that's A LOT less data.
That’s a fact!
360 does so much processing.what I hate about their cameras is the blotchiness or floating noise reduction patches that happens in the footage. DJI colors are far superior.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Which one would you pick between the two?😊
I like both of them and it's hard to pick one or the other. You can't beat the price of the Action 4, D LOG M and 10bit color, but the Ace Pro will perform better in low light at a higher price without those features that I just mentioned.
Thank you so much for this review. I think I've made my choice.
You are welcome!! Which one are you getting ?
@@OttoJulian_ none!
Haha ok! Yeah that’s also a choice 😎
I don’t have the action 4 as I’m still rocking the action 3 although as soon as the action 5 drops I’m in!
sounds good about the Action 5.
I’m thinking about getting one of these as my motorcycle camera I appreciate the video!
Sounds like a plan!
Thank you
you are welcome!
Wow! That was excellent. I'm so glad I watched this, I learnt so much. I've always held back from electronic stabilisation because of poor low light performance, but this changes everything. That plus lossless zoom is just perfection.
@@JagHiroshi there was a very recent firmware update and it seems that low light got even better 😄
A majority of screens refresh are at 30, 60, and 120fps. I wish your video wasn't 24fps because it looks jittery. Thank you!
24fps, just like the vast majority of videos out there and movies as well. It’s what looks more natural for motion blur.
@@OttoJulian_ Are there anyone using a phone or laptop watching your video with a 24fps refresh rate screen? Everyone's screen is at least 30, 60, or 120hz on iphone rights?
So? If someone screen refresh rate is 120 then they can only watch videos made at 120fps?
Guy is under the influence. of ace pro
haha no, I just showed the facts, which I admit I did not expect from insta360. I still use the Action 4 in daylight and I do recommend it, but if I need to shoot in low light using an action camera I will use the Ace Pro.
Great review comparo! I am almost sold with the OA4 until I saw this video. Like you, I am also partial to quality when taking videos in low light conditions. And the Acepro does the job well without any manual adjustment. However, my challenge with Insta360 is that, the service center is only available in Singapore! And I am from the Philippines. Not that it will be much of a challenge (it does if you rely on 1 action camera only) but I'm hearing reliability issues with insta360. Thanks for sharing!
hey there! yeah the Ace Pro does a better job, no doubt. I've had no problems with it for now, but I haven't used it in the last few weeks. Will be doing a round of tests in about 2 weeks and if anything I will share on my channel
Picked up the Ace Pro and it's pretty decently priced. Low light shooting is better than the OA4 and the flip screen is a nice touch.
thanks for sharing, hope you keep enjoying it!
Hello, I have a Action 4 however I want to get another camera that's better in low light. I'm stuck between a Sony full frame ( so big for vlogging) and a
smaller camera Pocket 3. However now I'm even more confused because the Ace Pro capabilities in low lignt, im so confused.
Sony full frame would be great! But if size is too big for you (and you might also need a gimbal for that) the Pocket 3 might be a good alternative if you already have the A4 (doesn’t make a lot of sense to have 2 action cameras )
@@OttoJulian_ Thanks!
