- details about 1962 Stratocaster for sale...
i asked several of my vintage dealer buddies what the current fair market price is.
i got several responses ranging from 34k on the low side to 40k on the high side.
so...in true Uncle Larry fashion...i'll go with the low side.
34K plus actual day shipping costs (which will probably be 500.00) is the price people.
i just weighed it, it's waffling back and forth between 8.0 and 8.2 on my digital postal scale.
nice big chunky neck...beautifully refretted a while ago by Greg Voros.
also includes the original case candy fender book in case pocket that i'm told is worth over 500 all day long.
as you guys know i've owned hundreds of pre-cbs strats... this is by far the best sounding one i ever had, which is why i always kept it.
email me at tombukovac@gmail.com if you are interested
After 43 years I finally started winding strings without the slip knot. I could no longer handle the shame. You're right, it's better.
Thank you….the UNIVERSE thanks you
If you have a strat don't touch your whammy bar
Man. I couldn’t believe how tight Slipknot was when I saw them live 😂
@stringlocker Lol, you blaspheme my religion! I have an early 90's Strat+ with Lace sensor gold pups and the floating bridge. The day I bonded with the Tremsetter change my life forever..
I'm sure you can get away with not locking your strings on a non trem guitar. I've come to that conclusion. Also the fender vintage tuners. But if you are attempting Floyd Rose stuff on a traditional Bridge then you better lock your strings. This shows I have come a long way
I love your music Tom, it really hits home…makes cry… your melodies sound like a long lost friend. Thanks for sharing your amazing music 👍🏽👍🏽
This is easily the best guitar channel on TH-cam for improving a player’s musicality. I have stolen, I mean learned, so many great techniques and tricks from Uncle Larry, already. I am new here, mostly. The name Tom Bukovac was just a distant legend to me for many years and I was late to this particular party on TH-cam.
On topic: I use my fingers with medium shortish nails 90% of the time these days, but when I use a pick it’s a 3mm Dunlop Flow. I would prefer even thicker boutique plectra, but these are reasonably available, acoustically engineered, and contrary to popular belief a thick pick enables a softer touch, in many cases.
Hey Uncle Larry. Not trying to blow smoke, but you have helped me a lot. I am one of the many of my generation who got hooked on opiates at a vulnerable time in my life. As you probably know getting off opiates is no walk in the park. Guitar was a huge part of that for me. Even after being clean for years, the pandemic hit me hard. Your vids were as therapeutic as anything I did. The power of music, and the guitar is incredible. Thanks for everything, sincerely.
Keep rocking brother!
Nothing better than sitting down and seeing that Uncle Larry has a gift for us. Bless you ❤
Nothing like watching a world-class musician display his talents.👍🎸😊
Down with COVID and wanted a "Larry" fix. So started here and am going to work my way backward. BUT, this piece is so, so good. Thanks for uplifting my miserable feelings today. You da "bestest"!! TWOD have great tunes. Highly melodic. Love their stuff.
Man that sounds good! And great to see Tom with a Stratocaster. My favorite guitar. GO BROWNS!
Beautiful, lyrical playing over that intro loop, Tom! Inspirational
Thank you for all these latest uploads Uncle L ! So nice to have an Uncle who is a Session Man ! Grateful - John
That Yeti mug! Killer! 😂
idk if you spoke about it but i like the pink glow
Every time I watch your channel I just want to go play guitar. Thanks for the motivation and the inspiration Uncle Larry!
You were so freakin good and COOL playing with Joe Walsh this past weekend. Your the best!
Thank you bro
Dang I should've driven down
Your use of dynamics the way you create space should be required listening for all guitarists. ❤
Unc....I love your Senn, but this Strat makes my heart cry. Love you.
You own TH-cam Tom... your channel is gold... thanks for inspiring me... my songs need out bad...
Seen a snippet of you and Joe jammin San Diego, old guy still has it, you rockin the SG, awesome stuff Tom.
Cool, would love a T-shirt but I’m from the UK. I always worry about ordering from overseas as never sure what they charge for import duty :(… the mugs are neat too.
Folkway Music is my local shop in Waterloo Ontario Canada. They’re the nicest dudes and have an incredible selection of instruments, great to hear their magic picks made it south of the border!
Hey Tom, saw some videos of your Joe Walsh gig and you looked good, you're looking sharp. Also looked like you were having fun as usual. You're the consummate pro. I always enjoy your playing. Thanks for HomeSkoolin' us.
thank you darling
Man, thanks for those notes and sweeet chords. I mean c’mon!! A beer and a bowl and I tuned right in to this video.
The G note you grab on the bend after the run starting at 6:10 was magic!
slightly flat magic hahaaa
Watching your videos makes me want play guitar. I mean I have for 30 years but you make me want to plug the rig in and go.
Tom, we have never met, but unbeknownst to you, the two of us are tag teaming the shit out of my guitar students, and I thought you should know, they are doing very well, due (in no small part) to your efforts. You are doing a wonderful thing for the musical community, and your videos will be treasured memories, for your boys, way up the road. Thanks, and kudos, partner . . . . . . . . . .
“Never regrets. Well, there was that one time…”
You absolutely crack me up. Sent us off with a big laugh. It’s about timing. Film director Garry Marshall once told me that when you make somebody laugh hard, walk away. Leave them laughing. That’s what you just did. Well done.
Love it when you open shows with a loop.
You are authentic
Uncle Larry’s videos just get better and better with nuthin fancy!!!! The Best!!
Your students love you Uncle Larry! Another cool video, thanks for all you share with us brother Tom.
Not even halfway through. Breathtaking.
Ampeg SVT heads and cabs and a lot of Old Gallien Kruger heads for bass backline stuff, usually
Matt Sluder [RIP] gave me my one slide lesson. He grew up in Asheville with Warren Haynes. Same here: Dunlop glass and 3rd finger. Great episode Tom, thank you
Another intro/loop/progression for me to copy and put into the "Uncle Larry's licks" notebook. Amazing, thanks Tommy!
Next Level makes the absolute best t-shirts I have ever tried. Solid selection, Dear Sender!
dont change a thing in your show man, just perfect .
Outstanding! I absolutely love your phrasing. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you so much Tom for all you do for us guitar nerds and freaks !!!!!!
❤WE thank you, thank you, thank YOU Tom
Go back and re watch the opening bit. Not the flawless picking, but watch Tom’s whole being as he moves with the groove. So focused. He’s not just playing the music, he IS the music. Can you feel it? And that, fellow Skoolers, is just one reason why he is on that side of the camera and 90,000 of us are over here.
Dude, you hit the first important thing after your left hand has figured out what notes to play.
The how, when, where, to what degree, is all right hand. Why do ya think they gave all that power to the dominant hand? Because that matters as much as the left (the dumb hand).
Time amigo, time.
These videos are getting totally next gen! I LOVE THEM AND YOU!
Yeah!!! Good to see u on it tonight! Thanks!
I'll be buying one of those titanium slides once you put out that info, thanks! And thanks for mentioning my pinky vs ring finger comment. That's usually how it goes, right? The guy that got you started sets the "tone" (pun intended). For me, it was seeing Ry Cooder back around 1970 in Jax, Fla when I was in the Navy. It was a free show in a church basement about the time he released Into The Purple Valley. I was totally mystified and obsessed by what he was doing. Sat right in front of him on a folding chair. Never been the same since .. ha-ha.
If you ever wanted to tour, I'd totally go see you solo playing with a looper., maybe with an audience Q&A. I'm sure other Home Skoolers would make the shows a sell-out. I'm tired of waiting for Jim Ursay to come back to NYC to see you play live again.
finally got a second while watching the latest and greatest volume with my guitar in my hand fuckin a right that that intro was a dream to jam along with ya Uncle Larry cheers
Hey, Tom! You should do a live stream once a month and take questions and play a little. I'd tune in!
Haven't heard the word Youngbloods for a long time, Love those guys. Saw them warm up for The Jefferson Airplane at the Fillmore East back in November of '69. The gig started around 10p went on until after 4am. Earlier that day I had seen B.B. King warm up for the Stones at Madison Square Garden. Best concert day of my life.
Really looking forward to hearing the Uncle Trapp music...
What a kick Uncle Larry when i saw your pick box. Lordie, i have collected picks of all kinds over the years (and they do play/sound differently), boxes of them. Trying all kinds, looking for that "perfect" pick. And funny thing, i always seem to come back to a Fender Medium....obviously was blind to the obvious for too long. Still collecting, but just for the fun of it now. Thanks for the suggestion on Folkway Music, need to try that out. Thanks as always for what you are doing for us all.
This guy has got the stuff ! Love it, keep posting !
Go Tom go; keep going and thanks for sharing with the home skoolin nation ! 💪🎸
As a purchaser of an amazing non-vintage guitar from Tom, I can attest to his impeccable honesty in the transaction. Also, I have a new favorite band.
Bloody hell Uncle Larry! You are the man, thank you, Andrew
I have had the same few picks for years. Love my tone slab and blue chips.
Just watched a fan cam video of Funk 49 from the VetsAid show, looked like fun to be had by all!
Cool intro Tom, I'll sit back and catch the rest of the show now.
Show & Tell is always a surprise! 🤓
I totally loved your loop , Tom! I immediately grabbed my acoustic and joined right in. This kinda reminded me a bit of the way I play Lucy in the sky with Diamonds, fingerstyle (but, I'm such a big Beatles fan that I sometimes think I can hear their influence in almost everything), and I just let it all go without even thinking of the notes. It was really fun sittin' in with you...virtually, that is 😀BTW, thanks for the acoustic pick mention. I've been searching and searching for a GOOD acoustic pick. I want one that plays and sounds as good as my own fingernails. I have beat the crap out of them for 40+ years now. They could sure use a break. I'm going to give them a try.
Uncle Buk, you have 254, twice! The previous rental reverb was also 254.
That shit was beautiful !! Enough said.
Nathan is cool as hell! The dude can really sing too.
Multi ~tasking, guitar phenom and show and tell. On fire .
Love it Tom
That’s John James Sykes.,tygers of pan tang, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Blue Murder. Put out lid add of Albums independently.
Best vibrato ever.. nuff said. Uncle.. p.s yours is the nutts too..
Thanks Uncle L for the musical inspiration
God bless man!!!!
Fender Medium!!! Me too! LOL! However, I do use the little red ones by Duncan (I think) on Acoustic. I like a thinner pick on acoustic for the snap. I also does something I call "pick compression," which sort of evens out the tone and volume.
😎👍 Good Stuff! Thanks for the fun times brother!
sorta spellbinding that intro. Holy wow/ A deep trek through the woods. This one reminds me of the Tom on that parachite 2 parts jam.
Omg! I love this intro so much! Probably my favorite one yet out of so many killer intros. Tom is on fire! Whoa!
Haha love this intro.
Keep it real, no overproduced TH-camr bullshit.
And as usual amazing playing.
Never change Uncle Larry !
I have a game-used Buk pick, which is absolutely at the apex of my 4 or 5 pick collection of picks I actually hold on to.
Great loop! Yeah back in one of the early Corona Lesson's you turned us on to Tom Britt. I bought both of his downloadable-only albums, "Elevator Man" and I don't recall the other one (I lost them with computer swaps) but they're both awesome. Tom and his brother Bob are both crazy good guitar players , each with incredible careers.
Simply put ..... Thank you sir.
Christmas came early in Nashville? Cool swag!
Hey Buko. Just got out of the shower feeling all nice and clean and suddenly I get an Uncle Larry alert. Perfection! May I say I love the leaving the loop playing to show your latest swag. It’s a wonderful example of you mix being a serious pro with being a goofball. Methinks one needs one to balance the other.
Regarding picks, since my neck surgery and losing a bit of dexterity in my arms and hands, I’m digging those Clayton large triangle picks. They give me something extra to grab onto for precision’s sake. FWIW.
Your pal in Boston, Darin
You rock Tom, Love you brother.
I saw Terry Pluto the other day at West Side Market. I used to see all of the Cleveland Sports Talking Heads when my favorite restaurant was open. Sokolawski's in Tremont, right down the street from the Christmas Story House. They had the best homemade food but Covid messed things up and they had to close their doors but they had those sweet old ladies from the old country back in the kitchen and up front at the buffet. Miss that place. Right in the shadows of Terminal Tower
Tom not only have you inspired me take my guitar playing to the next level, but I have also realized I need a much better guitar face like yours, mine really sucks lol Gob Bless ✌️
Oh yeah, making it sing in a whisper, so tone-full, SO melodic and narrative, THAT was AWESOME. I could listen to that all day! Thanks Tom!
I'm a middle finger slide guy. One of my biggest slide influences came from Rod the Bottlneck Price from Foghat. Incredible player and he used a slide on the middle finger. I find I can play regular fretted chords easier and jump back and forth between slide and no slide lines. May need to check out one of those titaniums. Always used glass.
What a great intro, almost a little ASMR feeling there :-)
The middle position on that strat is legendary
I know this is a niche thing, but it's hard to understand how this channel doesn't have a bazillion subs.
Tom, after I found out that you primarily used the fender medium picks, I bought some awhile back. Haha, who knew that would be the most underrated gear choice in the guitar signal chain. As soon as I heard it lol, it sounded like a record…. My wife has been learning guitar and she has her favorite picks, I gave her one of the Fender M’s to try and she said, “hey that’s not my pick” and I said, “this is what your hearing on all those great records”. She played one chord and she heard it too! 😂 So now that’s all she wants to use also… thx so much for all your inspiration and Pro advice Tom…
I started watching the videos here this year, and I always tried to find the courage to watch the old ones, but there are too many. I'm on 11 and writing down everything that matters to me and extracting small lessons from each video. It's a journey.
amazed that you're selling the best sounding strat you ever played. 😂 just a fascinating thing.
We are blessed with two volume 254 lessons !!!
Fender Mediums !! I've tried many but keep going back. Many dudes rave about the small jazz picks but I can't get used to them. Mediums rule. Probably cuz I've been using them since day one for 50 years
I used Fender mediums for years. Now I use 1.0mm Dunlop "Black Ice" Jazz 3's. Love them. Fender medium is still "the" pick when someone thinks of picks though. When I try regular sized picks now though, it feels like I'm trying to play with a tampon they feel so huge compared to my little jazzers.
@@AnodyneHipsterInfluencersame here man. After playing the J3’s for past 4-5 years, I can’t do regular size picks anymore. Just doesn’t feel right.
Slide how about a size of a Dunlop 212 (short/small) for my crooked pinky?!! Another great project/production. You’re on a roll my friend… 😎
Thanks Trooper!
Can’t wait for that album of yours!
Tom, would ever consider doing an instructional video of you constructing songs from start to finish with your insight on sculpting parts and tones? I'd definitely buy it.
man¡ talking about strats, its long time we dont see you with the magnificent white jeff sen strat¡¡¡
Hey Tommy, for being such a colorful guy with a bright personality, why the all black cloths? ......and , any chance you're coming home to Cle any time soon. Thanks for all you do for us.
i wear black because i can't find anything darker.
@@501chorusechohahaha good one
15:44 Dominic East is the tech for Adam War on Drugs. Sweetheart of a guy and dedicated pro.
"Across The LOOPER Universe" with Uncle Larry
Can't wait for the album! Come on, do it man!
Maybe THAT's the reason for this video (in addition to the '62 Strat and the slide lesson).
Peace out.
Always interesting, Tom....
Wish I could afford it, that guitar looks like a treasure! I love Fender Medium picks too, I have the white ones. I feel like the D'Addario Classics are pretty good too
Rides Again is one of my all time favorite albums. Don’t tease us with a cool anecdote about the back cover photo shoot like that and then leave us hanging. 😂😂😂 Would love to hear it! And any stories about the recording of that record. And doesn’t Jimmy Fox have like the world’s largest collection of license plates? Love the channel , brother!
Oh no! Buk doesn't like thick picsk!!! Another reason to drown myself in a bucket. Hahahaha! I love thick picks. Hope you're well, brother
Thanks Tom!
