While yes they do make suppressor for air rifles, and I love em, but go back and listen for where the sound is actually coming from. It’s mainly from the SMACK when the pcp slug hits the coyote. I have some air rifles and thermals and I do some coyote varminting of my own and I buy extra suppressors to add to setups that come shrouded like the Texans, I have one like the Great Kami from DonnyFL and it does keep the muzzle signature down further still. But when suppressing cold compressed air instead of a gun shot it’s the smack you want to worry about. It’s also another reason I used tipped rounds and make headshots, it’s even quieter than shooting hollowpoints that smack HARD N WIDE. So suppress away, but they won’t make as huge of a difference compared to say a regular rifle unfortunately.
I have to wonder how the energy from a .30 cal air rifle compares with a .22 LR shooting standard velocity/subsonic rounds. I'd want a heart/lung shot, knowing I'm not going to drop the coyote but a good hit would kill it within 10-30 seconds as it bled out. A suppressed .22 is very quiet, not noticeable past 25 or 30 yards to most critters. My .25 Daystate Pulsar HP has a Huggett moderator and is very quiet even at high power, as is my Benjamin Bulldog .357 with the DonnyFL Emperor with 6" extension (almost noiseless) that would be my choice for 100 yard coyotes using an air rifle. I would also consider using a .357 rifle, like a single-shot break-open or a Marlin 1894 or Win 92 or 94, with a suppressor and subsonic loads for this. I think that the combination of hunting at night with thermal, being 100 yards away and inside a house that the coyotes are used to and ignore, and a very silent rifle would be super-effective... as long as you don't let one or two get away.

One of the best videos I've seen, especially using the air rifle . I will definitely save this video.
you think the .25 has enough fpe for coyotes? I have a gauntlet (gen 1) in 25. I think it has enough power/accuracy for 50 yd kill shots... Mine doesn't like slugs but I think that would be the way to go if exceeding 50 yards. I also have a .308 Texan.... NO Question it has the beans to dirt nap a coyote & 100 yds, is no problem!

Hey Tim, great video! I've been doing the same at my house for about 5 years. whenever they get too thick, I bait the spot with chicken necks, very cheap, and spread them in a line at the range I've my scope set. Game camera tells me when they come in and I sit and wait for them. 7.62 cal from a FX pcp will drop them in their tracks! I also take a CZ semi in the thick stuff! Keep up the good work!
If you have a backstop to hang an old sheet, it can provide really good silhouette. Cable the carcass down so they can't drag it away; forces them to loiter in the ambush zone.

......The appropriately named Jack.....in the opening scenes....totally jacked. All the indicators point to a day of hunting.....this is no trip to the vet. He's living the life. From their appearance...a working dog is always more vibrant than a house dog...especially if that work is hunting. There are two videos on YT in which a pickup full of dog pens chases coyotes until they close to the proper range...then they stop and instantly release the pen doors... and EXTREMELY excited dogs fly out of the truck...chase down and shred the coyote. They were the happiest dogs I've ever seen.
I shoot yotes with a .22 amd .25 cal air rifle. Works a treat. I’ve been able to drop one and the other 20 yards away didn’t even notice. Superior way to get them especially if you have neighbours. They heat my calls but never my pcp .22 or 25. 👍🏻 I’ve taken several with a head shot too. Thank you ATN Xsight 4K!

That was great Tim! Reminds me of hunting with my grandpa in Northern Alberta, Canada on his farm. Good times hunting! Respect as always Tim and keep'em coming!
I lived in northbay Ontario for 9 years my parents was the last owners of North Bay speedway asphalt oval track we ran 2 classes of cars only 4 cylinders rwd only and V8 rear wheel drive class the V8 class was a superstock/latemodel stock class basically the same cars that nascar used in the early 80s and mids 80s with same motor rules and all and the 4 cylinder class was your mustangs and pintos and any other carberrated 4 cylinder rear wheel drive car and they hauled the mail to it was so much fun my mom raced and they ran the track I got to drivey ms V8 superstock after the races was over every Sunday afternoon before it gets dark and I also got to drive my mom's 4 cylinder car but I mostly drove the V8 car when I was 9 was my first time driving her car but anyways koyote hunting out there at the track out in the back of the property was a blast if we didn't shoot them then the big bucks and younger generations would get destroyed by them cuse they never had any pressure out on them and the coyotes took ever bad I shot 40 in one day
Curious doesnt the coyotes help keep down the mice population . Wouldnt it make more sense to kill the ones that go after the farmers animals until the coyotes learn not to go after the farmers animals, and are they shot at certain time of the year so the hides can be used.
This is one of my favorite videos, Tim. Coyotes are a problem on our ranch too. They have been killing calves & pulling to births right out of our kidding goats. I think It's time we get some Live Stock Guardian Dogs. I can only shoot so many. It's as if they're like Pez candy dispensers. They keep coming out one after another not putting a dent in the pack. Keep being you, Tim. You're the GOAT!
People love to predator hunt my friend and I bet you know a select few you would allow on your property. If not I am in eastern Oregon and can sell a kidney or something for gas money 🤣
A friend of mine trapped 39 Coyotes off a 200 acre farm in a little over a month, along with the 6 more we shot between the two of us.I was amazed at the number of Coyotes we took out, with all but 2 of them being male. They were killing calfs regularly and even some of the smaller heifers as well, and had to go.

Honestly have never thought of the road kill bait....I've smoked quite a few coyotes over the years, but most of them have been while deer hunting. Actually hunting coyotes is a LOT tougher than it looks! They're SMART!
Yes, they are very smart. But they're fun to shoot. If you can hit that much smarter target at the same distance, you shouldn't have too much of a hard time shooting a deer. I just like getting up close and personal with a crossbow, but you've got to be really good to even get a chance to shoot a Yotee.. As soon as they hear that string twang and the arrow zip towards them, they'll be in the next County lol..!
For the lives of cattle Sheep goats and chickens everywhere. Coyotes are bad news and it’s proven that man can’t kill them all. So we will get as many as we can though.
Thank you. Here in central Kentucky, they are right beside my house howling and waking me up at night. I have been trying to call and snipe them but you give me more ideas. Thank you
I’m disabled so I don’t have money to just go and buy an air rifle. I am planning to get one someday. It does make sense to hunt them like that. Again I love all you and your wonderful family videos. Been watching for years. Thank you
If you have anything that reasonably hits with a degree authority at a couple of hundred yards out you should be set, just watch the background, you have a legal responsibility for every bullet that leaves the barrel. Lots of cheaper thermal optics out there too and you can augment the onboard light source with external sources. Because they're pretty smart you don't even have to shoot them all, one or two and the rest put 2 and 2 together.
1 What distance are you shooting at? 2 Which specific Umarex air rifle are you using? 3 What specific pellets are you using? 4 What specific "night" scope are you using?
@@tattooninja While a .22 air rifle will work on coyotes, I consider the .25 a much better choice for coyote, especially given the ranges you'll be shooting at typically. A .30 caliber is an even better choice...when the .25 is running out of steam at around 125, 150 yards, the .30 is still going strong for another 50 yards. So choose a caliber according to what distances you'll be hunting at. 100 yards or less, I would go with the .25, 100 yards or more I'd go with a .30.
@@letmepicyou That's pretty much what others are saying, .25 or .30 for air. I went with .22LR and CCI quiet ammo so I don't even need earplugs. I'll probably still get an air rifle someday, but having a lot of fun w/.22 and my 12GA for now.

Youre definitely one of the smartest hunters I've seen. Appreciate your content. City slicker here, so dont do much hunting myself, but always knew that a well placed shot with a pellet rifle is good enough to take out a coyote. Never knew they made a .30 cal for an air rifle, good stuff!
Really cool video… as a person and hunter with many airguns, I have a lot of experience hunting, but not coyotes… and they are becoming more of a problem every year… thanks for giving your insight and ideas
Jack looks like my dog she is part Rhodesian ridgeback she is one of the toughest dogs I’ve ever owned but kinda hard headed, I’ve seen her catch and kill coons and coyotes quite quickly. She is a sweet dog but a viscous killing machine when we go hunting.
That was very interesting seeing the coyote run in the intro - I've heard about lots of animals taking off after being shot with their muscles taking over only to collapse later but haven't seen displayed so clearly.
@little drane so, I guess when coyotes run after being hit with a AR, or a deer runs after being hit with 308, those are underpowered arms ,as well ? Do everyone a favor, and actually get some hunting experience before making such a stupid statement…
@little drane uhhh, no… unless you head shoot, the majority run, regardless of armaments… heart/ lung area is just the proper placement… I shot a deer in the heart with a 450 bushmaster and it ran 50 yds , even tho the heart was in 3 pieces… that’s just a typical reaction…
Sir...is this a .22-.25-or a .30 caliber airgun? To my knowledge the Origin only comes in .17-.22-.25 caliber. Unless you have a seriously modified Origin I wasn't aware of a .30 caliber option in this platform sir. Hey I'm old and don't hear well... so... most likely my mistake... what grain ammo were you using to shoot these critters and at what speed sir? SLUGS or PELLETS? The other thing that I have a question about sir is...Are you using a silencer/moderator/LCD sir? The reason i ask is because the shots are so very loud. I use multiple calibers and various ammo in my PCPs and for this size target I use 34 grain .25 caliber @ 900 FPS or bigger ,and all of my guns have moderators on them. NOTHING I have is this loud unless it is a larger caliber like a HOT/super sonic .30...or .35 cal or big bore like .40, .45. 50 caliber with a lot of air behind it. I am just curious sir. Again...I am just trying to understand. God bless and thanks for a cool video of some well placed shots.
He does not seem to respond to these questions. It is the .25 Origin and he has to be using a slug for long distance performance like the H&N .25 cal 32 grn hollow point, but in a 37 grn version. NSA has one at 38.5 grn at .25 cal hollow point slug.
Great video. Thanks for this content. Have you considered: 1. Getting a .45 or .50 cal air rifle? The coyotes should drop like rocks from those calibers. 2. Mounting the rifle on a shooting tripod? This should give you room to back away from the window and shoot from within the room. Could lower the sound profile even more. Again, thank you for the excellent content on your channel. 👍🏻
Love the way Jack is always looking ahead as you drive for something to hunt. My dog is named Jack also a nut for hunting. you must have a lot of coyote to be at your place. they do not know who you are? lol
What night scope / thermal scope are you hunting with? I have used infrared scopes before and that does not look like infrared. It would take a pretty large IR light source to light up a target 75 to 100 yards distant. Your imaging looks more like a thermal sight. That is why I am curious about what scope you are using. ALSO, At the end you showed a remote movement detection system with lighting that you say the coyotes get used to. If you make that an IR light source rather that the garage or incandescent source you could see everything there with your IR scope and your targets wouldn’t see the light at all. It would be just as easy to make that an IR source as the white incandescent, just by the correct IR bulbs off the net.
I would like to hear more about the motion detector you are using. We have tons of coyotes and fox in our area. The motion detector alarm is a great idea.
Its good to be able to see something other than garbage on TH-cam... Thanks for the videos Tim, well done. P.S. what foam target is best for practicing shooting with my razor darts. my darts keep getting lost in the foam and are a bugger to get out.
I definitely have a "No Predator Policy" on my property and my friends and I do pretty good. There's usually 1 or 2 that survive. I had a situation late last fall when I was archery hunting a real good buck. Probably high 180 ish. I saw the buck bed down about 100 yards from my watch when I saw 1 of the remaining coyotes within bow range. Now, do I let him go so I don't spook the buck, or do I whack him to uphold the No Predator Policy? I chose to pass on the coyote and didn't that SOB make a hard right and trot within a yard or 2 from that monster buck which spooked him outta his bed and away from me. Then the coyote stopped broadside about 90 yards away. I released an arrow but to no avail.

Great vid...thanks. For the unfamiliar, PCPs (Precharged Pneumatic Air Rifles) are not what you grew up with as a kid. They have become insanely powerful and sophisticated over the years. This is a great technique if you have land. I'd love to try it. I have one for you, for a different predator/pest: crows. I use one of the Mickey D large red fry containers. Any crow who lives within 10 miles of the Golden Arches knows what it is. We had a problem with crows killing the baby rabbits around our suburban house, so I'd set this up in the back yard (1 ac) and use one of the second floor bedrooms with a bunk bed as the hide. I could lie on the top bunk, using the mattress and a pillow for a rest, aiming out of the open window at the fry container. The lawn was a safe backstop and there was a stone retaining wall and then a wood fence behind it. I'd get several shots, and with a silenced .177 Daystate from 6' inside the house the crows couldn't tell what was happening or where it was coming from. Kinda like your crow technique. Even so it didn't take long for them to associate the yard with bad things. I killed a half-dozen over a few mornings and then they became scarce. I guess the difference was that maybe crows are more bothered by crows getting shot than coyotes... and of course I had to do this in the daytime where if you're shooting coyotes at night they don't associate the house with trouble.

I think you mean quiet

Maybe you meant to type a complete sentence, instead of a sentence fragment.

One of the best videos I've seen, especially using the air rifle . I was sitting on my deck one night waiting for a coon or possum to get at my bird feeders, when out of nowhere a coyote ran in front. I took a shot with a .25 Avenger. I have now a Hatsan BT 65, .35. I will definitely save this video.
He is a cruel twat .How can you praise him for causing pain and suffering .He should use the proper tool
you think the .25 has enough fpe for coyotes? I have a gauntlet (gen 1) in 25. I think it has enough power/accuracy for 50 yd kill shots... Mine doesn't like slugs but I think that would be the way to go if exceeding 50 yards. I also have a .308 Texan.... NO Question it has the beans to dirt nap a coyote & 100 yds, is no problem!

Would a .22 semi auto work similarly?
@@dustinsharpe1049 It's perfect. I've been hunting coyotes and other game with a Marlin model 60, .22 cal semi-auto. It's fairly quiet too.

Curious doesnt the coyotes help keep down the mice population . Wouldnt it make more sense to kill the ones that go after the farmers animals until the coyotes learn not to go after the farmers animals, and are they shot at certain time of the year so the hides can be used.
@@Theresalove34 it's not that easy.
This is one of my favorite videos, Tim. Coyotes are a problem on our ranch too. They have been killing calves & pulling to births right out of our kidding goats.

If you have anything that reasonably hits with a degree authority at a couple of hundred yards out you should be set, just watch the background, you have a legal responsibility for every bullet that leaves the barrel.
Lots of cheaper thermal optics out there too and you can augment the onboard light source with external sources.

This is noble work, used to know a gentleman who rented a beautiful property nestled up in the foothills of south central Pennsylvania. Families would call him up the next day saying their pet ran away and he’d have to explain the coyotes got um lol 😂🤷🏼♂️
Out west I had coyotes attack my Austrian Shephard bigger than a coyote in my front yard 20 feet away from me in broad daylight. Never saw them creeping around the 4 foot tall tumbleweeds.

@little drane congrats on your PETA complain about methods used for pest control on the internet to people who don't care what I think award!
@little drane yes, because coyotes humanely kill people's pets and young children.... do us all a favour and never hunt or eat meat

I have a question. Does that rifle come with a night vision scope? If not, which night vision scope did you add to it? I like that package gun.

Great video. Thanks for this content. Have you considered:
1. Getting a .45 or .50 cal air rifle? The coyotes should drop like rocks from those calibers.
2. Mounting the rifle on a shooting tripod? This should give you room to back away from the window and shoot from within the room. Could lower the sound profile even more.

I wanted to know what scope and rifle he was using, I have huge coyote problem.
I would like to hear more about the motion detector you are using. We have tons of coyotes and fox in our area. The motion detector alarm is a great idea.

Great vid...thanks. For the unfamiliar, PCPs (Precharged Pneumatic Air Rifles) are not what you grew up with as a kid. They have become insanely powerful and sophisticated over the years. From .177 to .50 cal they can put a lot of energy down range. Certainly not powder levels, but more than enough to drop game of many sizes. And because they are so dam accurate, shot placement is improved for many shooters and suppression can make the louder ones incredibly quiet. For many, they have become a compliment to traditional firearms.
I might be wrong about this, but I think crows (and a lot of birds, generally) seem to be more intelligent than the average mammal.
Thanks for the heads up that crows like killing rabbits. I have a bad rabbit population that like to destroy my garden, so I'm going to invest some time befriending crows to up their population.

Had a crow for a pet and was the coolest thing ever! So smart it's unreal. Raised many a barn pigeons and they would ride a top my shoulders fly off and come back never made a difference if in town or camping they'd always stick around. But never even close to being as smart as a crow. Have shot and ate many pigeons but haven't been able to shoot a crow since. Good luck with befriending your crows.
@@cloudbase7799 That is correct. Search YT for Problem Solving Crow
@@cloudbase7799 *Not only smarter than most dogs, (Border Collies, excepted.) they have excellent memories and can communicate well. If you kill one lone crow, you're good. If you take one and others see that, you may soon be in a world of crow shit. Been there, done that mistake. Cheers!*
I have the same neck gaiter, good thing I don't have a ford
