As a Nigerian I'll advice you to be very careful with the kind of places you go to. And if you must go, take a local tour guide who understands the language, a lot of negotiations were being done amongst themselves right in your presence before they asked you to pay $100 and you couldn't understand them.
Also for your own safety and that of jossy, kindly confirm the security situation of a particular location before venturing there, many Nigerians wouldn't go to that place you went myself inclusive.
Just stay safe and enjoy your tourism.

From the initial fighter joke of the owner, to the Texas gun joke, to the dodging bullets, to the teach me kung fu. Everyone is trying to present as much strength as possible. I can't imagine how I would have kept my cool if I were there in real life, but seeing the way Tommy handled it was cool. I've been in a few dodgy situations, but this had my adrenaline going. If I had stood up at the moment when Tommy did as he walked to the window, my knees would have been shaking and I would have totally gave my cool away and been ready to run or fight. He handled it so cool. I will definitely take note, but also avoid Nigerian brothels too!

Nigeria is actually the 2nd largest market for Guinness, bigger than the Irish market. I kid you not. Stop encouraging him, it's not a good video. Going to the most dangerous spots in Nigeria? I don't understand why that should be good. Can you walk around the hoods in Chicago where drug dealers kill for fun and when you survive you would feel like you've had a fun day?

Prepare a ton of cash if you are going to these kinds of environment as you can see he is clearly getting extorted. It's pretty common for tourist since some of them have no idea what are the actual rules inside lets say that bar and they can easily tweak anything inside. I remember one guy wanted to walk along with me when I asked direction and he started collecting a "fee" for guiding when we arrived. I actually discourage going here if you did not arrange everything beforehand.

As an “outsider”, an oyinbo that has lived in many different areas of Lagos and went to even more, I must say that you handled it okay BUT some of the comments you made were a huge red flag 😅 as much as Nigerians are amazing and happy people due to lack of money they literally have no shame and will try absolutely anything to get money from you. I think the reason they let it go was because you were recording and they also don’t know who you actually are (most of white people there are either government connected or rich - but most come to do business for sure). I have lived in Egbeda, Ikorodu (Maya), I’ve been to Oshodi and Mushin many times BUT as a white lady I didn’t have enough courage to enter Makoko without security. You are amazing, stay safe please!
