Here's my Tumblr Real Story that I desperately wish was a Fake Story: You know that linguistic phenomena where you pick up words and speech patterns from people around you? I unwittingly taught my mum a bunch of 2013 Tumblr Lingo back in 2013 and she still uses it *to this day* and it haunts my waking nightmares. She says stuff like "peasants" and "tis I the frenchiest fry" and she knows not what she is doing. It's kind of endearing and hilarious, but also I am trapped in a hell of my own making. I deserve this.

And since my grandma had bought a couple furbies for my aunt, so I'm sure if I explained what a "Long Furby" is and bought the materials, my grandma would help me make one. There was this one furry kid at my middle school who was OBSESSED with his fursona. He literally came to school in his fursuit every day. Including in PICTURE DAY. They wouldn’t let him keep the head on for his photo and he threw a huge fit. He called his mom, who was involved in the PTA like it was her full time job, and she came to the school and threw such a Karen fit that, not only did they let him keep his costume on, but they MADE HIS FURSONA THE SCHOOL MASCOT. Everyone was mad at first but ended up getting super into it, and would all show up to pep rallies and school games in homemade fursuits of the fursona (including me. Guilty!)

I feel like it has to be intentional. The entire time I was just thinking what an unhinged shitty friend they seem like, but they're the protagonist and definitely not gonna come to that realization. I think that sort of thing's come up in other tumblr stories, where the author's completely unaware that they're a total piece of shit.

There was a post where a mutual of mine invented an entire Bible verse that implied Jesus is trans and hundreds of thousands of people fell for it. Another person wrote up a several hundred word essay on some old cartoon from the 80s and how the two showrunners both had a creative rivalry on where the show went/were gay married the entire time that was just completely invented with fake screenshots of Wikipedia pages to back it up. Very recently after Our Flag Means Death started picking up someone managed to trick a bunch of people into thinking that there's subtext in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies that implies Jack Sparrow and Barbossa are bitter exes. We're entering a new age of tumblr fake stories and I'm so excited

The sonic one isn’t outside of the realm of possibility tbh. I STRONGLY remember my art teacher in middle school having a deviantart account, he would post art of his characters (primarily a “werewolf” who was more often than not in anthro form) and pages from a comic he was constantly working on. I’m not sure if it’s still up, but I think about it a lot
