I was so impressed with how easily you washed the vehicle with the pressure washer and the foam that I just ordered the canon and the soap. I have a white BMW convertible and I've been using Top coat F11 and it seems to be working great. I live in Florida and it is hot (not as hot as AZ) and humid, I love washing my own car, (I do a lot better than car washes that cost $25, and I'm 73 yrs old so your system will work a lot better for me, not having to bend over and squat down. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your service (i'm a 69 year old Vietnam combat vet - Air Force). I appreciate your technical knowledge and your sense of humor. They go well together. And......I am actually learning something.
Thank you Sarah for the long term review of the Hydrosilex, I have been vacillating about getting some for my F-350. Your review convinced me. Thanks again.
Glad you did a follow-up! I've been wanting to get a ceramic coating on my cars, but I don't want the hassle of doing it myself, and I also don't want the expense of paying someone else to do it. Hydrosilex saved the day! I know it's not a true ceramic coating, but it still gets the job done. I bought a big bottle of Hydrosilex based solely on your first review of it. I came back to your channel just to say "thank you" for introducing me to it. It works really well. It's easy to apply. It's easy to buff. It doesn't take forever to use, unlike Adam's H2O. And it seems to last.
I used to work at a Ford dealership and undercoated, rustproofed and also paint sealed cars/trucks. You wash the car well. Then you apply the sealant ,or in your case the ceramic infused spray. after that dries you then apply again. Only after 2 coats do you buff it as the second coat is to fill in microscopic flaws in the first coat. This then can repell dirt but not actual clumps of dirt. Yet they can be removed easier with a wash. Also you never ever use a cloth like you showed. That is for washing dishes. you need a quality true microfibre cloth as the one you used will remove the product you just applied . Love your vids. Cheers
I have a bottle of Hydrosilex but have been on the fence about applying it. They say to get proper results you are supposed to strip everything off your paint before applying the Hydrosilex. I currently have a very good carnauba wax called Pinnacle Souveran wax which looks and protects extremely well and I hate removing it just to test an unproven ceramic coating.
Thanks for the update. Great product with a quick and easy application. Love the snappy humor and the shirt. Keep up the great content. Women + cars = 🔥
Sarah, From my experience of detailing, rinseless washing gives the best result especially in a desert environment. I’m in Vegas weather and I use optimum no rinse in my garage. I wash as if I have soap with ONR and then do a final wipe with ONR/distilled water towel. Zero water spots and I can let the moisture evaporate on the panels. I do not use my foam cannon any longer as that process feels a lot more exhausting in the desert heat. If the car is very dirty I may blast it with the garden hose and all purpose cleaner on the lower panels first. Then drive in the garage and do rinseless wash.
I should have watched the whole thing before commenting. For water spots look at CR-Spotless systems, I live in FL where the water is horribly hard, the water that comes out of the CR system shows 0 on a TDS meter. I literally reverse the wet car into my garage and it dries with no water spots. The reason why your softener leaves spots is because it's meant to be used for water consumption so it doesn't remove all minerals (drinking water with zero minerals is bad for you, dehydrates you believe it or not) the CR system on the other hand takes everything out, it's like washing your car with distilled water.
I could watch you all day... I ordered Hydrosilex after your initial review and it's worked great. It's been about 4 months and I am going to put another coat on. You rock Sarah!!
I have a private"well water" supplying my house. Yes I live in the "sticks". Also included for well water is a water softener. It is possible to put a bypass on softener. Im not a plumber and i did it. Another option is tap into line before it enters the softener and have a dedicated garage tap of untreated water. Keep the vids rolling. .
Sarah, either you have the foam cannon set for very low foam or you need to do a nozzle rinse. You should see it stick like thick memory foam on the car (best description I could come up with LOL!) After about 2 or three washes I remove the soap dispenser and just run water through it to clean the nozzle. If it hasn't been done in awhile run hot water through it. (I have a hot/cold water spigot in my garage) The soap can block the holes when it dries. Once again another fine video. I use a different product than Hydrosilex but pretty much the same stuff. (Tacos/tacos LOL!)
Holy crap! I could never hope to get my car as clean as yours, Sarah. Especially considering mine is a hand-me-down from 2002!!! And it already had a lot of imperfections in the clear coat. Oh well. I can do my best. I'll send you a picture if you want me to. Love from Michigan!
I've been using the Hydrosilex on my 2000 Saleen, which is certainly not daily driven at this time. But the finish remains very slick, very shiny, and dust/dirt doesn't stick. And in humid....VERY humid Florida.....where wax doesn't stick during the summer......this stuff works and sticks and lasts great. I've also put it on my daily driver 2018 Sonata, and it works pretty good there too. Next cars to get it are my parent's two BMWs. Overall I think its a great product, and I'm sold on it.
I wish you were still doing ooo shiney as I'd hire you to detail my truck because of your knowledge and attention to detail...though I'd be so embarrassed that I'd probably try to detail it first...I guess I just need to get out there and detail it myself regardless. Love all the videos but the detailing ones in particular as it is new knowledge more so than the repair and project vids. Thanks, Sarah.
Ramon Me as well. I can't work on my truck where I live now so I get my wrenching fix satisfied a bit by watching Sarah and others work on their cars. I've been thinking about trying to find a garage to rent just so I can work on cars again. It's crazy how few houses around have garages. :(
Nu Finish, in the orange - liquid or paste containers is my favorite. I only use the liquid. Called the once a year polish but I apply it more than that. Caution: Don't get on rubber or flat black parts, harder than most to remove.
Hi Sara, just recently subscribed and love your videos on how you detail your forester and what products you’ve tried. Also I absolutely love that you’re a dork like the rest of us. Keep being yourself in your uploads :)
Hello Sarah, I first of all I like your videos on your project vehicles, and may I say Forrestor gump looks pretty tight and love you tearing into them and being meticoulas on fixing or upgrading them for a reborn life, overall I too like cleaning my ride Mazda 3 here in North Texas, and yes it does get dirty and dusty year round and would love to not be always having to wash frequent than normal, the bugs on the hood are the worst, lol. Zoom zoom😉
I've been using Hydrosilex for over a year and a half now and I do like the product a lot and use the dry method with a two coat application a week apart then dont re apply a coat for 7 months here in Michigan
Just FYI, the Orange 15° nozzle is usually not used for washing the paint, tends to be a bit too much of a direct high pressure stream. You should generally try to use either the green 25° or even better the white 40°.
Hey Sarah! Love your channel. Just a tip I have the same pressure washer and foam cannon and I has a similar problem with the foam not really sticking to the car and I upgraded the foam guns orifice. Not only does the foam get thicker even with a coating it sticks longer dissolving the dirt particles and I am very pleased with the results. Hope this helps. By the way you’re Gorgeous! 🙂
Thanks for all the forester xt content. I just got a 2018 xt in pearl white too and seeing yours gets me stoked! Even just the detailing tutorials are great. Aloha from Honolulu!
The recommendations from Hydrosilex say the coating can last 6 to 8 months, but it's designed to be used more frequently as it stacks on itself and provides the best protection. So this product is best if used every 2 to 3 months to pump up the defense, which in time stacks on itself, making it last longer and perform better.
Some people here in Canada swear by ceramic coating and get that plus anti-rust treatment as their two treatments. You’re from New Hampshire; I’d be curious if you’d give a think and do an episode on paint care in frozen climates like ours, maybe on a visit to your frozen hometown. Also you’re great and I’m always a little surprised how much I enjoy your vids.
Hey Sarah, yes with the foam gun we can see that the coating is still on because the foaming is not 100% so you do have some protection on Gump All the best SoulDave
Your experience turned out a lot better than mine. I bought this for my 2015 Dodge Dart since the paint holds dirt and bugs on it like glue. After one wash, it was no longer slick :( Anyway, great video, and glad yours worked out well for ya. I really do enjoy your detailing vids.
Good to know. I got my hydrosilex last weekend and the only thing I noticed is it didnt feel quite as slick as a fresh wax coating but wax only lasts a couple months tops. P.S. I have the perfect plate to send you for your wall. Because tacos
Good review. I like your testing method. I think the product works well as a high cost polymer sealant. It's not a ceramic coating. It has no hardness to protect the paint. I'd like to know how long further it lasts and how much of the bottle it took for your 1st application? Concerns I have about ceramic coatings are 1)many of the products sold are fake (f11 originally advertised it was one) real ones include Opticoat and Ceramic Pro 2)many body shops will not repair cars with a coating. If do it costs a lot due to having to sand all clear coat off 1st. I live in a snow state where others hit your vehicles. 3) if someone does not take the time to 1st get their paint perfect (you did) they're stuck with defects. Maybe what you are using is a good compromise as long as you know it's a sealant.
Frickin finally after searching these spray coatings videos, a video of "after 6 months lets check it out" ….instead of "I'm spraying this on" and after 5 minutes " ya I'd say it's a good product" Thanks! I'll even Sub and hit that little tacobell for updates ✌️
Ceramic is much better than clay bar, compounding, and carnauba wax melting in the sun and sucking in all the scuz in the atmosphere. But, it doesn't have that super wet look. I was at a car show and there is some new stuff that is incredibly wet looking. Ya know, since you live in the desert, if you find a super product, it's a winner!
the "mopar car wash" either the small bottle with woolly mit or the concentrate is the only a spot free soap I have used so far if you can find a bottle you might try it .....
Sarah, you are absolutely adorable. Funny, sometimes awkward, a car chick and pretty hot. You are now one of my favorite TH-camrs. Thanks for the content. A mechanic for 20 years and still love your stuff. Also love the series on your sisters Xterra. I have a 02 Supercharged SE I'm rebuilding.
Another great video, Sarah. Looks like the ceramic coating is holding up well. I'm on the fence about ceramic coating, so your insight on it helps a lot. Keep up the great work.
Read a reply above. This is not a true ceramic coating. It's a refresher product which is tricky marketing to say it's a good polymer spray sealant (should be for its cost). I found this out on my own research b4 I read the early post. True coatings are products like Opticoat and Ceramic Pro. There are a lot of fake ones like F11 (another sealant).
I borrowed F11 from a friend and used it on both my patrol motorcycle and patrol car. Ease of use was great. Bug deflection gets a zero. I purchased Hydrosilex and applied it to the girlfriends car after a clay bar application. Its smooth. Its nice. We shall see. I have been cleaning cars since I was a driver. Used everything. Have products on the shelf that have gone bad because I like finding the golden ticket to car care. Here's my spin. If you wash regularly, apply any coating or wax its a win win. Most of us will reapply wax monthly or at least quarterly. Caring for your car is what we car people do. When I used F11. I simply use water, a clean cloth and no more suds. Dry and admire. Then reapply coats as needed because I love to see beading water. The pressure washer got my attention. One day I will have a channel and show products under extreme Highway Patrol vehicle abuse. Sun, mud, dirt, rain, yes and even hurricane duty that I am on today. My Dodge Charger is clean. Enjoyed your post. I will follow.
I like the way that you did this video. Based on what some of the comments have to say, that coding does not appear to be an actual ceramic coating. That said, it seems to have done a fairly good job of protecting the paint for the amount of time it's been since you put it on. Now, it's time to talk about that top. I think while it's still summer you should think about doing some of your videos in a bikini. I think the other viewers and subscribers to your channel would agree.
Pro tip: Let the water sheet off when rising (No high pressure stream). Take off your nozzle when you rise with the pressure washer. It'll make drying much easier.
Hi Sarah, your car isn't dirty. You need to drive in road conditions up here in Manitoba Canada. Most of my driving is done on gravel roads which turn to mud in rain. That would be the real test.
eyyy... did some detail work myself this week. Going to look into some of that coating myself.... Maintaining on a 17' wrx 14' passat and a 00' Grand Cherokee is a chore... sweaty chore. XD
This is my new favorite video thank you Sara for doing a detail video I think I might watch it a few thousand times lol just kidding lol but you did a awesome job
Hmm. So for the ease of use, cost, and on a daily, this may be a good alternative to a true ceramic coating; like Cquartz? Obviously a true ceramic would be better, but seems like you are happy with this? Thinking I may try this on my 2500, which lives in Texas, so similar climate. Or would you skip this and just go with a true ceramic?
adjust the density of the foam ... i too have HSR and HSM. layers upon layers and when i use my Karcher K series PW with the foam cannon the foam is so dense it does not move. i do use Hydro Silex Silica Soap BTW. best soap i have used so far to date. i have Fictech Carlift as my true coating on the paint but maintain it with HSR and HSM. recharge and marine r great sealants so to speak... i call them sealants, not coatings. Kenotek was my go to after a wash, but now it’s Hydro Silex Marine.
Sarah...not sure how I noticed this, but you are using the orange tip on the pressure washer. Do you find an advantage doing that over the white or green? I would of thought the orange was too much pressure for the paint.
I love your channel, when I got one of your vids recommended to me at first I thought this was gonna be one of those girl tries to be a car person and has no idea what she is doing type channels. I am soo glad its not the case, love your videos and your style keep it up. Hopefully my gf will become as much of a car lover as you are one day ;)
I've used Hydrosilex as well, it worked fairly well but due to price I probably won't use again. McKee''s 37 Hydro Blue works just a well but is considerably cheaper. though what I have left I use on wheels (wet application after cleaning) as an upgrade to just cleaning wheels on a basic detail.
I purchased Hydrosilex through Amazon and was able to get a perfect finish on my 35' RV in just 2 hours and only used about 15% of the bottle. About 1 week later I tried to use the product on my Van and it was gummy and clogged the sprayer. Too bad because this was a GREAT product but loosing 80% of the product is just too expensive. I tried pouring it on a rag and wiping as well as pouring on car and the finish was just ok at best. I contacted the company and they promised me a replacement bottle that never came. My order of another product is on the way.
Water softeners only remove the majority of the hard minerals like calcium, magnesium, lime and iron to soften the water and it’s effects but does not remove all of them as the solids are not completely dissolved which is why you still have spotting. A deionizer completely removes it creating laboratory grade water leaving it with no nutritional value. It will have a different taste and smell from softened water as well. But I can leave my car in the Florida sun to dry with zero spotting. My deionizer is from a company called CR Spotless. Model number DIC-20 and comes on a rolling cart.
Love the Taco Bell analogy - spot on - very wise... and... Just for the record, Taco Bell is NOT Mexican food, ... I'm Mexican, born in México... Me encantan tus videos querida Sarah! Gracias...
Not a ceramic coating, this is a ceramic infused booster coating. Used for enhancing already ceramic coated vehicles or as a short term temporary coating on non ceramic coated vehicles. Also if anyone's curious this is just a re branded bottle that a company makes and sells to other detail supply company's that put there label on it.
Do a final rinse with distilled water. No water spots. Just do the final rinse with the hose and then pour distilled water all over and get all the hose water off. Park in the sun and go relax. Done. I can usually get gallons for .89 cents on sale at my local supermarket. You're welcome.
Did you put this product on your glass? I think it says you can but it doesn't look like you did it.If you did do the glass, how well did it do compared to Stoprain or Rainx or similar?
I went ahead and liked your video but I'm not sure what I liked about it. You're comments were hilarious and I found myself laughing because I thought you were funny but I wasn't too sure you were trying to be. I was thinking of purchasing this product but now I'm not to sure if it is worth it. It looks like it does an okay job but is it worth it? Thanks for the info.
I don’t think there’s anything better than watching a good looking girl with an awesome sense of humor detailing her car! Great video! Thanks!
If I could go back in time 20yrs, I'd try harder to meet a woman like you who is into cars like this. WOW!
I was so impressed with how easily you washed the vehicle with the pressure washer and the foam that I just ordered the canon and the soap. I have a white BMW convertible and I've been using Top coat F11 and it seems to be working great. Hi Sarah,
Enjoyed the video. It is great to see honest, real world, independent products reviews like this. 👍
Nu Finish, in the orange - liquid or paste containers is my favorite. I only use the liquid. Called the once a year polish but I apply it more than that. Caution: Don't get on rubber or flat black parts, harder than most to remove.
moonlighter6 on good paint the Nu Finish is fantastic but for older paint jobs I find Meguires cleaner wax to be superior in every way.
That's some perfect Texas attire, breathable, fun.
Hi Sara, just recently subscribed and love your videos on how you detail your forester and what products you’ve tried. Also I absolutely love that you’re a dork like the rest of us. Keep being yourself in your uploads :)

Great job Sarah, please keep Forest clean!!!!!! Yes I will try out this product from amazon!!!!!!!
Your videos are Beyond awesome !!! From content to presentation!!! ☆☆☆☆☆ ❤
I bought the hydrosilex on your recommendation, pretty good. Maybe 4 months since.
I love your videos and love the edits with the Tacos. Have a nice day.
Great vid, awesome movie/tv show references! Love your garage! I was on the fence about about Hydrosilex but your vid pretty much convinced me. 😎
I will follow.
sarah you are always so entertaining thanks for sharing
Brent and Kyle are from Colorado too @Sarah -n- Tuned
I like the way that you did this video. Based on what some of the comments have to say, that coding does not appear to be an actual ceramic coating. That said, it seems to have done a fairly good job of protecting the paint for the amount of time it's been since you put it on.
Now, it's time to talk about that top. I think while it's still summer you should think about doing some of your videos in a bikini. I think the other viewers and subscribers to your channel would agree.
Pro tip: Let the water sheet off when rising (No high pressure stream). Take off your nozzle when you rise with the pressure washer. It'll make drying much easier.
No joke I didn’t know ladies were into detailing I subscribed I would rather watch you do product reviews than dudes. Your videos are good
RUN FORESTER! RUN!!
Hi Sarah, your car isn't dirty. You need to drive in road conditions up here in Manitoba Canada. Most of my driving is done on gravel roads which turn to mud in rain. That would be the real test.
I would suggest u use optimum no rinse , reduce the chance bring the dirt across ur paint with Microfiber towel
eyyy... did some detail work myself this week. Going to look into some of that coating myself.... Maintaining on a 17' wrx 14' passat and a 00' Grand Cherokee is a chore... sweaty chore. XD
love it when mom makes some orange robotic 🍪 mmm
This is my new favorite video thank you Sara for doing a detail video I think I might watch it a few thousand times lol just kidding lol but you did a awesome job
Hmm. So for the ease of use, cost, and on a daily, this may be a good alternative to a true ceramic coating; like Cquartz? Obviously a true ceramic would be better, but seems like you are happy with this? Thinking I may try this on my 2500, which lives in Texas, so similar climate. Or would you skip this and just go with a true ceramic?
I've just applied it myself. Interesting.
adjust the density of the foam ... i too have HSR and HSM. layers upon layers and when i use my Karcher K series PW with the foam cannon the foam is so dense it does not move. i do use Hydro Silex Silica Soap BTW. best soap i have used so far to date. i have Fictech Carlift as my true coating on the paint but maintain it with HSR and HSM. recharge and marine r great sealants so to speak... i call them sealants, not coatings. Kenotek was my go to after a wash, but now it’s Hydro Silex Marine.
Sarah...not sure how I noticed this, but you are using the orange tip on the pressure washer. Do you find an advantage doing that over the white or green? I would of thought the orange was too much pressure for the paint.
its like car work never ends
I love your channel, when I got one of your vids recommended to me at first I thought this was gonna be one of those girl tries to be a car person and has no idea what she is doing type channels. I am soo glad its not the case, love your videos and your style keep it up. Hopefully my gf will become as much of a car lover as you are one day ;)
Yup I fell for the farmgirl, clickblah too
I've used Hydrosilex as well, it worked fairly well but due to price I probably won't use again.
Gracias...
Great to see Forester keep up the good work will try coating my Forester
Oh Sarah you sure can rock jeans shorts OMG😘😘😘
Nice job Sarah! Great editing!!
Well done Sarah. I think the coating performed well. At least it looks like it did from here. 😊
Bang shrimp is at the Bonefish Grill, that's the only place I've ever heard of that dish
Like your choice in top Sarah lol and because of you i have that same pressure washer 😁
Love the foam gun money shot POV @5:35
Awesome video Sarah, Get a water deionizer this will help or eliminate water spotting take care always.
9MMSWORD yes, tacos 🌮
No one cares.
9MMSWORD I agree this is just a sealant. This company needs to really stop advertising their product as a ceramic coating when it is not.
So who makes this bottle and where can I get more without paying the high price?
Its not 9H glass ceramic coating. It is still ceramic coating. Kinda like ceramic pro sport.
Bam... Well over 1500 likes within hours.... Great new Video again.
Girl, you have more gadgets in your garage, I am jealous.
Do a final rinse with distilled water. No water spots. Just do the final rinse with the hose and then pour distilled water all over and get all the hose water off. Park in the sun and go relax. Done. I can usually get gallons for .89 cents on sale at my local supermarket.
You're welcome.
Orange robotic cookies smells good to me! Man you should start your own detail business you're amazing !!!
Sarah great channel. Time to do another ceramic review long term follow up
Did you put this product on your glass? I think it says you can but it doesn't look like you did it.If you did do the glass, how well did it do compared to Stoprain or Rainx or similar?
I went ahead and liked your video but I'm not sure what I liked about it. You're comments were hilarious and I found myself laughing because I thought you were funny but I wasn't too sure you were trying to be. I was thinking of purchasing this product but now I'm not to sure if it is worth it. It looks like it does an okay job but is it worth it? Thanks for the info.
Sarah -n- Tuned you're unbelievable. too bad I will never meet you personally. Simply perfect ... Einfach nur Perfekt 😁😉👏
