    Great video. I applied this on my own vehicle a couple of weeks ago and it’s pretty awesome so far. Vehicle repels water and dirt and seems to stay cleaner longer. Also applied to trim, glass, and wheels. That’s the beauty of Hydrosilex. Time will tell on long-term performance.

    I bought this after this video by Sarah. Put it on in the garage (shade, cool surface) over my extra clean Lexus.
    It is fantastic, spray on wipe off very easy. Paint is smooth and shiney.
    I like it so much that I will use it on my AMG coupe next.
    Thanks Sarah !

    Great video! Hydrosilex can be used on the glass and the wheels too! I bought it to use on my 2017 Kia Sportage SX-turbo - after doing weeks of research on ceramic coatings.

    I just applied the hydrosilex recharge to my 2018 Tacoma, although I wasn't as thorough as you as my truck only has 1500 miles on it. Washed and dried thoroughly, very easy to apply. Works like a champ. Rained all day after it was applied, next morning I had about an inch of wet snow on the truck. Snow slid off effortlessly. I hope you'll do a follow up vid to show how it holds up. I lived in Tucson for 15 years, I know it's tough on paint! My hope is the hydrosilex will protect my paint from all the road salt we have to deal with here in Northern NY. Great video!

    Cracker Barrel...oh yeah! Love me some chicken and dumplings! Great channel and thanks for the how to. I have a white 1LE and I’m getting a build up of dirt under the door handles. Washing it is not getting rid of it, I’m going to try what you did to see if I can get it back to normal!

    Oh the labour of love when it comes to detailing our rides. Lots of ceramic coatings products out there with different levels of effort required. The one you used looked very easy to apply/remove. Will be interested to see a follow up from you on how long this one lasts given where you live. Cheers!

    Thoroughly love your sense of humor, as much as your knowledge! Your videos show the lighter side of doing detailing and ceramic coating right....I have been binge watching car detailing vids....tired of the hype, and minutia, bias reviews.
    Yes, please do more ceramic coating videos! Tried the new Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic spray wax....really like it! Got the Griots 3 in 1 detailer too.....wanna try it on trim, wheels, etc... I love that Master Blaster...some day u gotta do your garage walk thru, products, tools, organization, storage.

    Here is a video idea: Grab a hood from a junkyard and do some side by side comparisons of different ceramic coating brands so we can see the actual difference of them all. It appears to me that the coating performed just as well as a few coats of good wax would. So a side by side would be a more scientific approach.

    I think you're suppose to use a paint prep after polishing to remove any polishing oils left behind. That way the sealant bonds to the paint better. I've been polishing and waxing my trucks for the past 20+ years and am eager to try out a ceramic coating.

    Sarah great vid - as far as keeping detailing supplies in a hot garage - most of the products won't appreciate that heat. Most will begin to separate in the heat, and then thicken as they cool - getting gloppy and chunky. I have a closet in my house dedicated to supplies. In my case being in NJ the extreme range of temps kills the products - we got from 0 to 100 during any given year. Great job on the Subaru!

    Hey Sarah! This from
    "HydroSilex Recharge is an Sio2 based, easy to apply, spray on protection product! In short you can mist it on clean paint, wipe away any excess product and get durable protection that looks great! The unique chemical makeup of water-based Silica Dioxide makes this formula a pioneer in detailing. Once cured, Recharge morphs from liquid to a highly flexible transparent top layer, that adds gloss, and protects various surfaces from the elements.
    While the label on the bottle reads “Ceramic Coating”, Recharge is not a full-fledged paint coating, but rather a spray on silica sealant. These easy to use products offer durable protection for a variety of surfaces, exceptional hydrophobic properties, and they can be applied in a very short amount of time. Hydrosilex indicates Recharge can be used on a wide array of vehicles and surfaces including boats, planes, cars, trucks, showers, kitchens, motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers, glass, plastic, metals, fiberglass, vinyl, paint protection film, wheels, wood, Plastic-Dip, stone, countertops, single stage paints, gel coats, clear coat finishes and more. The bottle says to “Apply on all surfaces”, therefore, I think it is safe to say you can go ahead and try it out on everything."

  • @MyDraw
    @MyDraw 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would recommend using multiple towels when applying any coating and also it's huge to use a IPA to extract
    the oils from either the compound or polish you just put on the paint, it has a big factor with any coating of how well it's going
    to bond and seal to the paint. Also you don't want to use ur compound or polish microfiber towels because they have the oil on them aswell
    you're trying to get away from. Hope this helps just didn't see any thing on that or that you did mention.

    Store your car cleaning products close to the ground. Hot air rises after all. Next install a thermostat controlled extraction fan in the ceiling or wall depending on your setup. It comes on when the room reaches your preset temp then goes off when the temp drops.

    This is more of a coating topper like car pro reload or gtechniq c2v3. Your traditional consumer grade paint coatings last 2+ years. I think this is on par with the coating toppers 6-9months. I have a feeling these "coating toppers" will become as popular as the coating themselves because they are easier to work with but last longer than your traditional paste wax.

  • @SPRODETAIL
    @SPRODETAIL 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work Sarah! Any ceramic coating is only as good as the prep you put into it. This product in particular will likely last 3 to 6 months if you don't reapply. Personally, I'd reapply every 3 months after a wash. The only thing I noticed that you might consider next time is a 'panel wipe' step after polishing to remove any remaining oils or waxes from the exterior surfaces. A panel wipe product that is easy to find in stores and works perfectly is Prep All by Kleen Strip. Again, nice job!

    How about using an old/chipped nylon trim removal tool as a pointer? Will probably require some grinding, sanding, and shaping. While your fingers are nice, I'm often at a loss of what you're trying to point at. I initially thought of using a screwdriver, but we know that metal tools in close proximity to the paint would not be a good idea.

      Yes and no. It’s a hybrid sealant that encompasses ceramic properties. It’s designed to be DIY friendly. If you watch the entire video, you’ll notice that I reiterate this over and over. I’m not getting paid by this company, so I have no problem calling it what it is.

      The engineering nerd in me needs to do a little research on this stuff, but I think they are using “ceramic” incorrectly. All that would do is horribly scratch the paint and offer no real protection, as any ceramic material is going to be much harder than the paint. Time to nerd out lol

      Don’t rub up anything in circles if you want to keep swirls away. Using Straight lines with the length of the car will minimize this.

    • @Neur0bit
      @Neur0bit 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      mindflux98 - No, it won’t. A scratch is a scratch. Circles or straight lines, it’s still a scratch.

    • @mindflux98
      @mindflux98 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Neur0bit but a horizontal scratch is harder to see than a circular scratch. I’ve been doing this a long time.. it’s a tip from wayyy back. Also a straight line scratch wouldn’t be considered a “swirl mark” which was what my original comment was discussing.

    I have those shelves in my basement... I really like him a lot... I have four of them completely full .. I can't wait until I get my garage built in a month I'll have plenty more room...
    I've seen some ceramic coat cost $1,000 ( I paid significantly less for mine ) and I know there's different grades and the extent in which the ceramic penetrates and how long it lasts... this seems to me that it's more of a ceramic type maintenance or covering ( kinda like quick detail spray ) given that giant bottle is probably like 40 or 50 bucks... not trying to knock it I just don't see this lasting very long.... Noice work Sarah!

    Agree with you Sarah on the wet Application, I think dry will probably bond better to the paint I would assume, also after you polished The car did you use any alcohol wipe down or Geon wipe down, next question is can you apply a traditional wax over this coding like a “ Beauty wax” I just been using V36 The same cutting pad you used and then I jump up to Jes car power 🔒 + and then I do a top coat of Colinites 845. That really seems to respond well to my Subaru Ice Silver metallic paint gets pretty hot out here in Sacramento.

    I would say it would only last you around 4 months with a type of sealant like that in AZ. I wouldn't call it a coating more of a spray sealant. I would like to see some more coating stuff from you for sure. There are some excellent trim coatings out there for sure. Hell I have coatings for everything lol. It can get out of hand with all the goodies you can put on a vehicle as you know. Your shelf for detailing supplies will keep getting crowded.

    I have a ‘16 WRX, just curious what mods/ exhaust you ended up with on your forester.

    Can this be applied on top of a sealant and wax? Cuz I got that on my car now. Power lock + Co 845. Or do you think it won't bond to the car? I'm thinking this thing is a spray wax on crack.

    I have a 2017 Outback, so I would like to know how the ceramic coating holds up. Also, how much is it$ ? What brands would you recommend? Or is it just a gimmick. As always, good video, very informative.

      James Mounts it’s a DIY ceramic product, that way your average person can do this! It won’t last as long, but it seems fairly decent from what I can tell.

    Dear Sarah, I ve notice after ceramic that the foam gun effectiveness will be less because of the effect in my book it is still a win / win but you want that foam to melt down to pick up all the loose stuff
    All the best, SoulDave

    Really enjoy your videos. There are so many detailing products in the market and I have tried many of them. You often mention products by name and it would be helpful if you expanded on what you like or don't like about them. I don't know if that creates a problem in case you have sponsors that provide you with products. Thanks much - you make me laugh and teach me car detailing all at the same time. Very impressed with your knowledge of cars, etc.

    The UV protection of the ceramic coating is a great idea for the environment you are in. It's longevity will be interesting to watch.

    Maybe you did this but I'd consider wiping your car with paint prep right b4 you apply a new brand or type of sealant or wax. Its then bonding to the paint and not previous chemicals. It's a quick step. I'd start only calling this a sealant. I like the blaster. I started using mine for my motorcycles (water hides all over them).

    Are there benefits to more than one coat of ceramic coating? Two... three coats?
